Week of January 21st Last Sunday we had our regional tournament at West Chicago High School. Unfortunately, we lost our first game to WSSRA, which means we are not going to state this year. After some rest, we played WDSRA and came from behind to win! On Tuesday, 2/5, we are set to have our last game of the season versus LT and LT South.
Week of January 7th 1/8/19- The Hawks continued their winning streak beating WSSRA’s White Team 30-20. It was another fun game where everyone passed and shared the ball. Almost all players were able to score. The fans were also active in the stands cheering on each side.
Week of December 3rd Special Olympics basketball Black Team had a great week. On Tuesday we travelled to Fenton High School and defeated the Bison with a score of 23-8. On Wednesday we hosted our annual Pack the Place versus D99. The Black team defeated Downers Grove with a score of 32-25.
Congratulations to our athletes of the week Cha’nyaa Bennett. Cha’nyaa had a total of 6 points against Fenton High School. She was able to move around the basketball court to get open and make a three baskets. Her enthusiasm was felt by her teammates and motivated them to come together and defeat Fenton. Great job Cha’nyaa on being selected as the athlete of the week.
12/6/18- It was an awesome week on the Transition Basketball Team! On Tuesday we took on the NEDSRA White team and it was an amazing game! Everything clicked and we were passing, shooting, and defending well. We won that game 32-18. On Wednesday we took on D99 and continued to work well as a team! We won 52-16. We worked as a team and everyone got a chance to shoot. It was a great week to be a Hawk!
Athlete of the Week: During this weeks’ games, Rose was extra amazing! She was great at passing, rebounding, and working with her teammates. She seemed extra competitive and tuned in to each game and each play! She was taking smart shots, but not only that, she would follow her shots and rebound so she could shoot again. Rose is an asset to our team and is a compassionate teammate! Rose is extremely coachable which makes her great to work with. She will take feedback and applies right away. She is an amazing athlete to have!
Week of November 26th This weekend Austin Savickas took 2nd Place at the Special Olympics State Bowling tournament in Peoria, Il.!!
Congratulations to our Athlete of the week Isaiah Barker. Isaiah has started the basketball season strong for the Black Team. He has continued to be the second highest scorer on the team. His ability to move around the court has created many opportunities for the team to score points. Isaiah also leads the team with the the most teals and assists. Great job Isaiah on being selected as the Athlete of the Week!
On 11/27 we took on the FVSRA Blue team. It was neck and neck the entire game! Unfortunately, we lost 17-18. We had the ball at the buzzer, but we just couldn’t get a last shot off. Come join us for Pack the Place on 12/5 at South at 6 as we take on D99 Hoops!
Week of November 19th On 11/19, we took on the Helping Hand Mustangs and Huskies. While we were tied at the half at 18-18, the game got away from us in the second half and we lost 48-30. During the game there was some good passing, defense, and communication on the court. We look forward to our next game on 11/27 vs FVSRA.
Week of November 12th Congratulations to the athlete of the week Patrick Kruger. Patrick has demonstrated his ability to be competitive and his defensive plays will be instrumental moving forward in the season. He has been involve in blocking, stealing the ball and causing turnovers on apposing teams. Great job and congratulations on being selected as the Athlete of the week.
Week of November 5th Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Julian Saldivar. Julian was our highest scoring athlete in the Wheaton Warrenville South Basketball tournament. He scored a combined total of 27 points for the Black team. He has been improving as a basketball player each season he has participated in Special Olympics basketball. He also has demonstrated great leadership skills to his teammates. Great job Julian and congratulations on being selected as the Athlete of the Week!
