Seamus Brennan Holiday Tournament / Scholarship Information
When our dad fell ill and succumbed to his 4-month battle to survive in the ICU, our family was devastated. The man who brought us the world was no longer in ours. We created a scholarship fund for the program he taught at Hinsdale South High School as a way to keep him with us in our hearts.
Seamus Brennan Sr. loved high school hoops. He raised and coached three boys that went through the ranks of elementary league and traveling league. But no matter what, he never favored his own children while he coached. He wanted his entire team to learn, develop and most importantly make memories of the time that they played organized basketball. After all, as he routinely said, “Do you think in 20 years that the kid will remember what his team’s record was? Or do you think he just might remember the memorable moments of playing with his teammates just a bit more?”
Seamus also spread his love to his students. At Hinsdale South, he played an instrumental role in the Excel program that helped underrepresented and underprivileged students. The outpouring of love from the program has warmed our family’s heart. To know how loved Seamus was by the students was truly amazing. This scholarship will be awarded to students of the program that did so much good for so many.
As his surviving family, we hope that you all enjoy this event. Soak in the moments of your children playing this week. These are memories that will last forever. Life is short. But memories last forever.
Thank you so much for attending and if you have time and resources, donations to this scholarship fund will be greatly appreciated and honor the late Seamus Brennan Sr. and all of the students that he helped mold. ~ The Brennan Family and Hinsdale South High School
