Varsity The Hornets fought hard but ultimately lost to Geneva in the Sectional Semifinals. There were flashes of strong play, but unfortunately not enough consistency to topple Geneva. Kotryna Melstrad led the way with 13 kills, while Payton Hallman and Paige Lilek provided 10 digs and 18 assists respectfully. The Hornets reached the sectional semifinal for the first time since 2012, proving that the group as a whole is on the up and up. Congratulations to seniors Bazon, Lin, Melstrad, and Savage on fantastic careers in the program and providing long standing leadership. Those returning are already looking forward to another postseason run next year.
Week of October 27th
Varsity The Hornets won their first regional in 13 years in convincing fashion over Glenbard South with scores of 25-22, 25-15. They team was in control from the start and didn't look back. Kotryna Melstrad had a masterful performance with 15 kills and an ace. Paige Lilek paced the offense with 20 assists, while Bella Farrare and Charley Cook added in two blocks each. Winning a regional championship was a goal identified at the start of the season, and the girls' hard work and determination paid off big time. On to sectional semifinals!
Week of October 20th
Varsity The Hornets batted hard against both DGS and Hinsdale Central, but ultimately fell. With the loss to DGS, the team finishes 2nd overall in the WSC Gold Conference. The team followed up the losses with a wonderful victory on senior night over Tinley Park. The team was led by seniors Taryn Bazon, Kaleia Lin, Kotryna Melstrad, and Maeve Savage. The hornets have closed out the regular season and are gearing up for the post season starting on 10/28 against Hyde Park.
Sophomore The sophomore Hornet Volleyball team had a busy week with three games. The ladies fought hard against Downers Grove South, but lost in two sets. The team was excited for the breast cancer awareness game against Hinsdale Central on Wednesday and played an intense match against the Red Devils. Lastly, the ladies were victorious in their final match of the season against Tinley Park in three games. Jillian Ockrim, Victoria Iwaniec, Kajul Kapur, and Cailyn Budzik led the team to its victory.
Freshman A The Freshman A volleyball team faced a challenging week with three tough losses, but their determination never wavered. Refusing to let setbacks define them, the team showed incredible resilience, relentless effort, and unwavering teamwork in the final tournament of their season. After a tough loss against Lincoln-Way Central High School in the semifinals, the team's hard-working spirit and continuous drive earned them an impressive 3rd place finish after defeating Romeoville High School.
Freshman B What an incredible season it’s been! The girls have grown so much as a team and continued to compete with heart and determination every time they stepped on the court. We wrapped up the season with a hard-fought home match against DGS, where the girls battled until the final point.
Our last game of the year was our Volley for a Cure match against Hinsdale Central. The team played with passion and pride, putting up a strong fight in front of a great crowd. Though the outcome wasn’t a win, their effort and teamwork were something to be proud of.
Week of October 13th
Varsity The varsity team moved to 5-0 in conference play with a commanding 2 set win over Willowbrook. The Hornets were led by Emily Musil, who excelled in serve receive and serving, Paige Lilek who tossed around 24 assists, and Kotryna Melstrad who threw down 12 kills. The Hornets play DGS on 10/21 with a shot at a conference championship!
Sophomore The Sophomore Hornet volleyball team continued its undefeated streak in conference by defeating Willowbrook in two sets. The sophomores were led by Viki Iwaniec, Jillian Ockrim, Mady Thomas, and Cailyn Budzik. The ladies continued to play great volleyball in the tournament, even with minor injuries to key players. The ladies are excited for their games against Downers Grove South, Hinsdale Central, and Tinley Park. While excited, the team is not ready for their season to be over.

The Freshman A Volleyball team kicked off the week strong with an impressive victory over Willowbrook High School. Their momentum carried into the weekend as they competed in the West Chicago High School Volleyball Tournament — and came out on top as Tournament Champions!
The team showcased outstanding skills across the board, with powerful serving, aggressive hitting, sharp setting, and dominant blocking that kept their opponents on their heels. Battling through five tough matches, the girls demonstrated grit, teamwork, and determination every step of the way.

Freshman B The girls had a competitive match against Willowbrook, falling in two close sets 19–25, 19–25. Despite the loss, the team showed great effort and teamwork throughout the game. Julianna Gonzalez played strong in the middle, while Yani Muñoz served well and made key contributions at outside hitter.
Week of October 6th
Varsity The Hornets came out on top of conference rival Leyden on Tuesday with a commanding 25-18, 25-12 win over the Eagles. Maeve Savage dominated from the service line while Kotryna Melstrad and Charley Cook chipped in on the offensive side of things, scoring 9 and 2 kills respectively. The Hornets welcome Willowbrook into the gym on 10/14 in a match with serious conference implications on the line.
Sophomore The Hornets had one game this week against Leyden. The ladies defeated Leyden in two sets and was able to see some new faces on the court. Maylove Rassi showed her talent in serve-receive during the game. The ladies look forward to their game against Willowbrook and their final tournament of the season. Freshman A Freshman A played one game this week against Leyden High School and came away with a solid win in two sets. The team showed excellent serving throughout the match, keeping Leyden on the defensive. The team was strong in blocks at the net, as well as outstanding team communication which helped the players stay organized and confident. It was a great all-around performance and an exciting victory for the team!
Freshman B The girls battled hard this week in a close match against Leyden, falling just short with scores of 20–25 and 20–25. They continued to compete with great effort during their Quad at Central, showing strong teamwork and determination throughout the day. Clarissa Vasquez shined bright in the libero position, leading the defense with energy and consistency.
Week of Setpember 29th
Varsity The Hornets continued their undefeated streak in conference play with a two set win over Morton. The varsity squad then traveled to Providence Catholic where the team lost a hard fought match. Taryn Bazon provided an offensive boost for the team with 8 kills on 15 swings, but ultimately the hornets fell to the Celtics. The team will look to rebound next week against Leyden
Sophomore The sophomore volleyball team had a busy week with two games and a tournament. The team welcomed another conference win against Morton. Mady Thomas and Emanuella Monogios led the Hornets to victory. Alani Flowers, Victoria Iwaniec, and Jillian Ockrim supported the team to three victories at the tournament. The ladies look forward to another conference game this upcoming week.
Freshman A The Freshman A volleyball team had a competitive week on the court, playing two tough matches. They opened the week with a strong win against Morton, taking the match in three sets. The team came out firing in the first set, stumbled a bit in the second, but showed resilience and finished strong in the decisive third set to secure the victory.
On Wednesday, the girls faced a tough opponent in Providence Catholic. Despite falling short, the team displayed grit and determination, keeping the match close and battling point for point. They played hard throughout and showed great teamwork and sportsmanship.
Freshman B The girls had a competitive week, starting with a close match against Morton, falling 20–25 and 11–25. Grace Gunderson played strong at right side, bringing solid offense and energy to the court. Later in the week, the team faced Providence Catholic and lost 16–25, 14–25, but there were several standout performances. Clarissa Vasquez stepped up as our fill-in setter and did an outstanding job running the offense. Abby Nunez showed strong play in the back row, and libero Isabel Hilsen anchored the defense with great consistency.
Week of September 22nd
Varsity The varsity volleyball team lost two hard fought matches to Fenwick and St. Laurence. The team didn't let these losses affect them as they rebounded with a quality 25-23, 25-22 victory over Glenbard South. In an evening that saw all 4 levels victorious, the Hornets were led by Kotryna Melstrad with 13 kills and paced by Paige Lilek. Lilek dished out 23 assists. The Hornets will likely see Glenbard South again in the playoffs, so this match had some serious implications.
Sophomore The sophomore Lady Hornets had great matches against Fenwick and St. Laurence, both powerful teams. Unfortunately, the team did not secure victories. The team worked hard to confirm a victory against Glenbard South. The team was led by Madalyn Thomas at the service line in the first match, bringing the team back from a large deficit. Madalyn also played well in the 5-1 rotation as the setter. The ladies had a tournament over the weekend at Addison Trail and secured three victories, losing two matches in three sets. Overall, the team continues to be led by Jillian Ockrim at the outside, Cailyn Budzik at libero, and Madalyn Thomas at the setter position.
Freshman A The freshman A volleyball team had two wins and one loss this week. They played a dueling battle back-and-forth against Fenwick pulling out the win in two sets with a score of 26 to 24 in each. They lost against St. Lawrence in a hard fought battle going three sets. The girls truly left everything out on the court. Their best volleyball so far this season. The next win came against Glenbard South winning two sets. Their serving helped bring the Hornets to a victory.
Freshman B The girls faced some tough competition to start the week, falling to Fenwick and St. Laurence. They bounced back with great energy, though, earning a strong win against Glenbard South. Clarissa Vasquez sealed the match with the game-winning kill and stood out with her outstanding defense. Abby Nunez contributed solidly with her consistent play, while Yani Munoz delivered a great performance at outside hitter, giving the team a strong presence on the court.
Week of September 15th
Varsity The Hornets continued WSC Gold conference play with a demanding win over Proviso East 25-10, 25-10. The team then traveled to Glenbard West for their annual invite. Despite injuries, the Hornets finished the weekend with a 2-3 record. The team was led defensively by Bella Farrare with 5 blocks and Payton Hallman with 34 digs!
Sophomore The Lady Hornets had a busy week of practice and a conference game against Proviso East. It was an exciting day for the ladies with new players on the court. Violet Drahos had a good game, with strong sets, in the second set. Maddy Thomas also continued to show consistency as a setter. The team is looking forward to a busy week with three games and a tournament over the weekend.
Freshman A The Freshman A team had a solid performance in their first tournament this weekend. With three wins and two losses, the team took 3rd place out of eight teams. The team's digs and attacks were solid throughout the entire toughment. Serving in their final game helped them clinch 3rd place.
Freshman B The girls had a great week of practice and continue to show improvement each day. We played one set against Proviso East and came away with a win! The team is looking forward to carrying this energy into next week as we prepare for three upcoming games.
Week of September 8th
Varsity The varsity team finished the week with a 3-0 record, including opening up conference play by avenging last year's loss to Addison Trail with a two set victory. The Hornets were led by Kotryna Melstrad, Maeve Savage, Payton Hallman, and Kaleia Lin. Hallman and Lin contributed from the service line, amassing a 95% service percentage, while Melstrad and Savage chipped in with 20 and 29 kills respectively. The Hornets look forward to continuing conference play against Proviso East on Tuesday night, then working towards a tough field in the Glenbard West invite this weekend.
Sophomore The sophomore volleyball team had a successful week, winning all three of their matches. The Hornets won against Addison Trail, Richards, and De La Salle. Jillian Ockrim continues to show great consistency at the outside and in the back row. Madalyn Thomas showed great hustle, being added to the 6-2 rotation as a setter. The team is excited for another conference game against Proviso East this upcoming week.
Freshman A The Freshman A team played three games last week, securing two wins and one loss. They fought three sets against Addison Trail High School but ultimately came up short. Despite the loss, the team showed strong communication throughout the game. Victories came against Richards and De La Salle, where great serving and several key kills led the team to success. Overall, it was a solid week of continued growth, teamwork and competitive play for the team
Freshman B The freshman girls had a strong week of play. They defeated Addison Trail in two sets (25–16, 25–15) and battled hard against De La Salle, falling in three (23–25, 25–13, 19–25).
Juliana Loynes made an impact on the right side against De La Salle along with serving for multiple points. Alliyah Gonzalez played a strong role in the front row.
Week of September 1st
Varsity The varsity team came off a hard fought loss to Montini by heading down south to play in the Richland County Invitational. The hornets finished in 4th place, with senior Kotryna Melstrad earning all tournament honors. Significant contributors also included Maeve Savage and Desi Ivanova. The hornets open up conference play this week with a match against Addison Trail, where the team hopes to avenge a loss to the trail blazers last year.
Sophomore The sophomore volleyball team had a busy week with matches against Homewood Flossmoor and Montini. The ladies fought hard against both teams, but were unsuccessful in securing the victories. The team looks forward to their games this week and the rest of the season.
Freshman A The Freshman A volleyball team played two competitive matches this week, coming away with one win and one loss. While they faced challenges with serving, the team showed determination and fight on the court. Several strong attacks highlighted their offense capabilities and kept the energy high throughout both matches.
Freshman B We had a busy week on the court with two exciting matches.
On Tuesday at home, we faced Homewood-Flossmoor and came away with a big win in three sets. After dropping the first set 18–25, the team bounced back with determination, winning the second set 25–18 and carrying the momentum into the deciding set for a 15–8 victory.
Later in the week, we traveled to Montini for a tough matchup. The girls battled hard but fell in three sets, 12–25, 25–22, 19–25. Despite the loss, there were several bright spots. Abby Nunez played outstanding defense, showing great consistency with her passing in the back row. We also celebrated the return of Grace Gunderson, who came back strong from injury and contributed as a middle hitter.
This week showed our team’s grit and ability to compete against strong opponents. We’re looking forward to our two games this week!
Week of August 25th
Varsity The Hornets started off the season with a win against Elmwood Park and a hard fought loss against Lemont. The Hornets then competed in the Metea Valley invite where libero Payton Hallman earned all-tournament honors! The Hornets were also led by Kotryna Melstrad who amassed 30 kills over the weekend. The team continues play this week with games against Homewood Flossmoor and Montini.
Sophomore The sophomore volleyball team was thrilled to start the season with a win against Elmwood Park. The Hornets battled against Lemont, but fell short in two sets. Over the weekend, the Hornets had their first tournament at St. Charles East. The ladies hustled in every game and secured wins against West Chicago and Geneva. The ladies were led by Jillian Ockrim, who showed continued consistency as an outside hitter. Kaydence Burton and Cailyn Budzik also showed promising talent in their positions. The ladies look forward to the rest of the game this season.
Freshman A The Freshman A volleyball team demonstrated amazing effort and teamwork in their first two games of the season. They had an impressive start in their opening game against Elmwood Park High School, showing great communication and solid serves. Unfortunately, they faced a tough loss against Lemont High school in their second game. The team stayed positive throughout and gained valuable experience to build on. The team faces Homewood-Flossmoor High School and Montini Catholic this week.
Freshman B This week was an exciting one for our program! Our Freshman B team earned their first win of the season in a strong match against Elmwood. The girls came out ready to play and took the match in two sets, winning 25–7 and 25–14.
We had some great individual performances that made a big difference on the court. Juliana Flores had an incredible serving run, scoring 11 points in a row with 5 aces. Ximena Ayala added to the momentum with 3 aces and a big kill. Defensively, our Libero, Isabel Hilsen, showed great hustle and consistency in the back row, keeping the team steady with strong passing and reliable coverage.
