Varsity This past week the Girls Varsity Volleyball team won the West Suburban Gold Confernce Championship with a stellar win over DGS. Mia Lombardo lead the team with 9 kills and Abby Mihalkanin had 9 assists during the DGS game. We also had our annual “Volley For the Cure” game against Central on Wednesday. We hosted the event this year. We raised over $3000 for the Opens Arms Foundation. This week Kaitlyn Hurka lead the team with 25 kills and Sam Pacentine lead the team with 30 digs. Go Hornets!!

Amelia Brennan added 2 blocks and 5 kills. Gianna Jason led the team with 12 kills. Daniele Baranauskaite added 6 kills. Defensse was paced by Abby Didio, Diana Temelkova, and Natalie Barbour who combined for 20 digs.

HS comes up short against Cary Grove 22-25, 15-25 Madison Tsui tacks on another 15 assists with 2 aces. Gianna Jason (5 kills) and Rayva Verman (3 kills) led the offensive.
HS def. host St. Charles North 25-21, 18-25, 15-13 in 3rd place match Madison Tsui dished out 19 assists. Amelia Brennan (3 aces, 3 blocks, 4 kills), Gianna Jason (7 kills, 2 aces), Daniele Baranauskaite (6 kills, block) lead the Hornets to a thrilling victory. Freshman The Hornets played Willowbrook and Downer's Grove North this week. On Tuesday the Hornets beat Willowbrook 25-12, 26-24. On Thursday, the Hornets played Downer's Grove North. Abarnet Layne helped the team win the first game with her aggressive serving and blocks. The Hornets fell short in game two but battled back and won the third game 25-15.
The Hornets also played in the West Chicago Invite over the weekend and placed 2nd. Elizabeth Vandercar helped the team win the first four matches with her consistent serving. The freshmen played in the championship match against Oswego East. After a tough match the Hornets fell short losing 16-25, 19-25. Next week the Hornets will travel to Downer's Grove South, Hinsdale Central, and Joliet Catholic to play their last three games of the season!
Week of October 1st
Varsity This week we celebrated our five wonderful seniors on Tuesday during our match against Leyden. Our seniors this year are Abby Mihalkanin, Claire Zipsie, Jenna Suda, Clarissa Marron, and Kiley Long. During our match against Leyden our middles Claire Zipsie and Alayna Chavez both had a strong showing with 4 kills each.
On Thursday we took on Lake Park for a new non-conference match-up. We won in two games. Mia Lombardo had 4 solo blocks and 8 kills to lead the team. Over the weekend we played in the St. Charles East Scholastic Cup. We were 2-3 on the tournament. We beat Wheaton North and Rosary. On Saturday Jenna McClelland step up for the team due to a player absence. She had great presence on the court and filled the roll of a right side attacker. Go Hornets!
JV In the last week of JV play for the season the hornets traveled to LT for a quad on Monday. Sara Prueter and Gianna Jason both had 12 kills for the night and Gianna Jason had 6 digs in addition to 4 service aces. Abby Didio led the team in digs with 8 and also had 2 assists. For assists Brigid Rudolph contributed 19 and had 3 digs. In the first game JV lost to Kaneland in three with scores of 25-22, 22-25, 8-15. Next the hornets faced the host school and lost in two with scores of 14-25, 20-25. In the last game the hornets beat Larkin with scores of 25-8, 25-11.
To cap off the JV season, the hornets traveled to Lake Park on Thursday. Gianna Jason led the team in kills with 6, and also racked up 7 digs. Danielle Wayman had 2 kills and 1 block for the night. Jenna McClelland had 2 blocks and 1 dig. The hornets pulled out a win with scores of 29-27, 25-21.

(10/4) Hinsdale South (14-5, 4-0) run winning streak to 7 games with win over Lake Park 25-16, 25-17 Amelia Brennan (3 aces, 2 blocks, 9 kills) shined all around for the Hornets. Madison Tsui (18 assists, 3 aces), Rayva Verma (5 digs, 2 kills), and Daniele Baranauskaite (8 kills) helped the Hornets win their 7th in a row! Freshman The Hornets played in the Hinsdale Central quad this weekend and won all three matches. Jolie Schultz's consistent passing and hitting was a major contribution to the three wins. The team also played Leyden at home and won 25-18, 25-17. On Thursday the Hornets traveled to Lake Park and won with the help of Mimi Bobel's 10 kills. The freshman will play Willowbrook and Downer's Grove North next week.
Week of September 24th
Varsity This past week the Varsity Girls Volleyball team had three tough matches. We started with a match against the Morton Mustangs on Tuesday. The Hornets won in three sets. The Hornets were lead by Kaitlyn Hurka with 9 kills for the match. Abby Mihalkanin lead the Hornets 10 assists for the match. Sam Pacentine had 16 digs for the match. We ended up losing our next two matches verse York and Naperville North. Claire Zipsie played strong for us throughout the week with her stellar defense for a middle hitter. JV This week JV had a busy week participating first in the LT quad on Monday. In the first match they played a competitive LT team and lost with scores 20-25, 28-26. In the next match they faced Wheaton North and came up victorious in three with scores of 22-25, 25-23 and 15-8. In the last game of the night the hornets came up a little short against Hinsdale Rival, Hinsdale Central. The hornets fell 23-25, 18-25. Sara Prueter led the team in kills for the night with 13 followed by Amelia Brennan with 10 kills. Sara Prueter also played amazing defense at the quad leading the team in digs with 19. Brigid Rudolph led the team in aces with 5 and also racked up 21 assists. Danielle Wayman led the team in blocks with 6 on the night.
On Thursday the hornets hosted the huskies of Naperville North. The hornets had amazing defense that night but struggled with serve receive and fell in two with scores of 15-25, 13-25. Jenna McClelland lead the team in kills with 3 and also had 2 digs and 1 block for the night. Gianna Jason had 4 digs that match.
On Saturday the hornets traveled to Prairie Ridge for last JV tournament. First up the hornets faced Waubonsie for the third time this season and finally came up with a win. They beat the warriors 25-16, 25-22. Next the team faced a well attacking Fremd team and fell in two 10-25, 22-25. Next the hornets faced Bartlett and won 25-22, 25-13. After a lunch break the team played St. Charles North and were victorious in three winning 25-22, 19-25, 15-13. In the last game of the day the hornets faced Prairie Ridge the host school. They started off slow but won in three with scores 17-25, 25-21, 15-11. With the win the hornets placed second in the tournament and ended their tournament season on a high note. Sara Prueter led the team in kills with 21 for the day in addition to 3 blocks and 6 digs. Danielle Wayman racked up 15 kills and 4 blocks. Aurora Korfist led the team in aces with 8 and also contributed 36 assists. Brigid Rudolph had 33 setting assists and 13 digs. Sam Pacentine led the team in digs with 24 and also had 5 assists. Next week the hornets participate in their last JV quad on Monday and travel to Lake Park on Thursday.

HS def. St. Edward 25-15, 25-16 Natalie Barbour led the way with 6 aces. Madison Tsui paced the offense with 19 assists. Daniele Baranauskaite (12 kills) and Amelia Brenna (5 kills) led the offensive attack.
HS def. Geneva 25-18, 25-11 Madison Tsui (3 aces, 11 assists), Amelia Brennan (3 aces, 3 blocks), Rayva Verma (6 kills), and Diana Temelkova (10 digs) starred for the Hornets.
HS def. St. Charles East 25-23, 25-18 Abby Didio tallied 2 aces. Madison Tsui paced the offense with 15 assists. Offense was lead by Daniele Baranauskaite and Rayva Verma (7 kills each). Defense lead by Amelia Brennan (4 blocks) and Diana Temelkova (6 digs).

Week of September 17th
Varsity This past week we only had one match. We played Plainfield North on Tuesday, September 18th. We lost in two sets. Kaitlyn Hurka and Sara Prueter lead the team with 5 kills each. Kaitlyn Hurka also had 10 digs to lead the team, with Sam Pacentine having 9 digs. Abby Mihalkanin and Aurora Korfist each had 9 assists for the match. We are looking forward to this week of play. We will take on the Mortan Mustangs on 9/25, the York Dukes on 9/26, and the Naperville North Huskies on 9/27. The matches on 9/25 and 9/27 will be at home. Go Hornets!
JV JV began the week by hosting the hornet quad and playing three completive matches against Schaumburg Christian, Glenbard West, and Hinsdale Central. The hornets were victorious in their first match of the day beating Schaumburg Christian 25-12, 25-10. Next the hornets faced Glenbard West and split the match with them losing the first game 23-25, and winning the second game 25-17. In the last match the hornets faced cross town rival Hinsdale Central. The hornets lost the first game 19-25 and lost the second game 23-25 on serve receive errors. Gianna Jason led the team in kills for the night totaling 11 and also contributing 5 service aces. Sara Prueter and Danielle Wayman both racked up 8 kills for the night. Danielle Wayman also led the team in blocks with 4 blocks at the quad. Aurora Korfist had 20 setting assists and also led the team in service aces with 13.
On Saturday the team participated in the Addison Trail JV invite. In the first game of the day the hornets battled against Glenbard South and won 25-14, 27-26. Next the hornets were up against the host team Addison Trail and won 25-14, 25-18. The team then went on to face Hoffman Estates and cruised to an easy victory game one winning 25-6 and were victorious in game two winning 25-22. After a lunch break JV faced Fenwick and pulled out a win in three close, competitive matches. The hornets came up victorious with scores of 25-19, 18-25, 17-15. With timely serving and kills at the end of the match the hornets rallied from an 8-1 deficit to take control and win game three. In the championship match of the day the hornets again battled in three close and competitive games against Warren. The hornets were victorious early winning 25-20 in game one, they fell in game two 22-25 and rallied to come from behind to win game three 15-13.
Sara Prueter led the group in kills for the day racking up an impressive 31 kills, she also notched 15 digs, 5 service aces and led the team with 9 blocks. Jenna McClelland and Amelia Brennan were tied for second place in kills each contributing 23 kills. Amelia also racked up 5 blocks and Jenna had 7 digs and 2 service aces. Madison Tusi ran a 5-1 offense and tallied 80 setting assists and led the team in service aces with 11. Freshman Peyton Willey also played with the group and showed impressive defense skills with 11 digs and impressive serving contributing 8 service aces. The group worked hard and played well together to win their second tournament of the season.

Week of September 10th
Varsity This week the Girls Varsity Volleyball team went 2-4. We played Proviso East on Tuesday. We beat them in two sets. This gave us our second win in conference. We are now 2-0 in conference. We also had the Wheaton Warrenville South tournament on Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday we had a great rematch against Metea Valley. We were down 8-19 in the first set and came back to win 31-29. The girls played well together to get the win. This week we will have a rematch with Plainfield North. We lost to them on Saturday in two very close sets. Go Hornets!
JV This week JV did not play, but supported the varsity team while playing in the Wheaton Classic and while playing at Proviso East. Next week JV has a busy week hosting the JV Hornet Quad and traveling to Addison Trail on Saturday for the annual Addison Trail Invite.
Sophomore
Freshman The freshmen took 2nd place at the St. Charles North tournament on Saturday! The team came out strong playing 5 back-to-back matches. Mimi Bobel led the team with 21 kills and Jenny Pantori's consistent passing helped us to the championship match. The team fell short in two close games to St. Charles North, 21-25, 20-25. The Hornets will play Plainfield North on Tuesday.
Week of September 3rd
Varsity This past week the girls varsity volleyball team had two matches. We went 1-1 on the week. Our first match was against Addison Trail. We won in two. This puts us 1-0 in conference. We then had a tough match against Metea Valley on Wednesday. We lost in three sets. This coming week we are taking on Proviso East for our second conference game on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday and Saturday we play in the Wheaton Warrenville South tournament. Go Hornets!!
JV This week the hornets hosted the mustangs of Metea Valley on Wednesday. The hornets were playing with a new lineup and fell in two games with scores of 14-25, 15-25. Jenna McClelland led the team in kills with four for the night and also lead the team in digs with two. Gianna Jason and Amelia Brennan each had two kills for the game. Brigid Rudolph ran a 5-1 and had 9 assists.
On Saturday, the hornets traveled to Waubonsie for the second time in two weeks for the Warriors JV tournament. The hornets faced tough competition in pool play and playoffs and fell in two games for the first match of the day against Marist with scores of 20-25, 18-25. The hornets then took on Naperville central and fell 18-25, 15-25. In the last pool play game the hornets faced Geneva and won in three close games with scores 25-27, 25-20, 15-4.
The hornets finished third in their pool and after a lunch break faced the home school Waubonsie for the first playoff game. A close game ensued and the hornets came up a little short falling to the warriors 25-23, 21-25, 18-25.
n the last match of the day the hornets took on DeLasalle and were victorious in two games with scores 25-18, 25-15. Sara Prueter lead the team in kills for the day with a solid 21 kills, she also led the team in aces with 12 and contributed 12 digs defensively. Jenna McClelland had 15 kills on the right side and 15 digs as well for the day. Danielle Wayman led the team in blocks with 8 and also contributed 14 kills offensively. Setter Brigid Rudolph had an impressive 70 assists, 10 service aces and 11 digs. The hornets had a solid effort this week in their pursuits and are becoming a better team with every game they play.

Freshman This week the freshmen volleyball team played their first home games vs. Addison Trail and Metea Valley. The Hornets started the week out strong beating Addison Trail. Mimi Bobel helped the team win in two games with her consistent passing. In our second match, the team was led by Elizabeth Vandercar. Her assists and strong serving helped win vs. Metea Valley on Wednesday. Next week the freshmen will travel to Proviso East on Tuesday.
Week of August 27th
Varsity Last week we only played one match. We played Waubonsie Valley at their gym. It was extremely hot conditions, but the girls didn’t let it phase them. Although the result of the match was a loss we did some very great things. Abby Mihalkanin had a solid match setting for us. She is a great leader on the court. Kaitlyn Hurka and Jenna Suda worked hard on the outside. We are looking forward to our first conference game and Home match against Addison trail on Tuesday. Go Hornets!
JV This week JV traveled to Waubonsie, LT and the Aurora Central Catholic tournament. On Monday the team battled in a close first game against the warriors but fell 28-30. In the second game the Hornets fought hard but came up a little short, losing 20-25. Gianna Jason led the team in kills racking up 9 for the night, followed by Brigid Rudolph and Amelia Brennan with 4 kills each. Jenna McClelland and Gianna Jason also had 4 digs on the night. Danielle Wayman led the team in blocks with 2 during the match.
On Tuesday JV won their first game against cross town rival Hinsdale Central in the LT tournament beating the devils 25-22, 25-21. In the second match the hornets played Antioch and earned their second win for the night with scores of 25-11, 25-9. In the LT quad championship, the hornets faced the home team but fell in 3 games with scores 12-25, 25-20, 9-15. The hornets all around played fantastic in the quad, Sara Prueter lead the team in kills with 12 kills earned for the night. Danielle Wayman was a close second place in kills with 8 kills during the quad and also racked up an impressive 10 blocks. Brigid Rudolph lead the team in aces for the night with 10 and also had 18 assists. Setter Madison Tsui also contributed 20 assists, 2 digs and 4 aces. As for digs, Kiley Long lead the team with 8 digs during the quad.
To cap off a busy JV week the hornets participated in the Aurora Central Catholic tournament on Saturday. In the first game the hornets faced the home team and won in 3 games; 25-20, 20-25, 16-14. In the second game of pool play the hornets faced Immaculate Conception and won with scores of 25-16, 25-22. In the last pool play game the hornets faced the West Aurora RedHawks and won 25-16, 25-20. Finishing first in their pool, the hornets then went on to play East Aurora for the championship. The hornets came up victorious, winning 25-18, 25-9. Outsides Sara Prueter and Gianna Jason had 19 and 18 kills for the day. Jenna McClelland also racked up 10 kills and 1 block. Setter Brigid Rudolph had 14 digs during the tournament and 40 assists. Setter Madison Tsui also contributed 24 assists and 8 digs. Next week the hornets face off against Metea Valley on Wednesday and travel to the Waubonsie tournament on Saturday.

Abby Didio led the serving attack with 4 aces. Freshman Freshmen girls volleyball team played Waubonsie on Monday. After dominating the first game 25-3, the hornets fell short in game 2 forcing a game 3. With the help of Abarnet Layne’s strong serve, the hornets battled back and won 25-23! Freshmen are looking forward to their first home matches on Tuesday and Wednesday next week!
Week of August 20th
Varsity This weekend the Girls Varsity Volleyball team had their first games. We played in the Crosstown Showdown hosted by Plainfield North. We ended up going 2-3 for the weekend, with a 15th place finish out of 32 teams. The girls played very well for their first tournament of the year. We are looking forward to a rematch with Waubonsie Valley on Monday, August 27th. Go Hornets!
JV This week JV kicked off the 2018 season with an away game against Bolingbrook. Freshman outside hitter Sara Pruter led the team for the night in kills with 6 kills and also contributed 5 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Gianna Jason also tallied 4 kills and 1 dig for the night. Junior middle blocker Danielle Wayman led the team in blocks with 3. Sophomore setter Madison Tsui led the team in assists with 7 and sophomore setter Brigid Rudolph had 4 assists for the night. The team fell to Bolingbrook in 2 competitive games with scores of 16-25, 23-25. Next week JV travels to Waubonsie Valley on Monday, Lyons Township on Tuesday and the Aurora Central Catholic tournament on Saturday.
Freshman The freshman girls volleyball team had their first game on Thursday vs. Boilingrbook. After falling short in the first game, the girls were able to come back and win the second game. The team was lead by team captain and setter Peyton Wiley who helped the girls win 25-22 for our first win of the season!
On Saturday the freshman team played in the Hornet Invite. They came out strong and won the first three matches. They lost a close match in the semifinals to Plainfield East. The freshman are coming together and looking forward to a great season!
