JV1 The Hornets began a match full week with York high school on Monday. The girls would go on to lose 2-5 in this 1 singles, 6 doubles format match played with 8 game pro sets. Even still, senior captain Raneem Kholoki and Claire Camden showed off strong doubles play at the number two position, winning 8-7 (10-7 in the tiebreaker!). Duyen Millon and Maya Chrzanowska also showed out in the fifth doubles position, winning with a score of 8-6.

Finally, the girls would have one more home match with the traveling Nequa Valley squad. The Hornets fought hard and played two rounds however would go on to fall in this match-up with a score of 0-9, ending their run of matches for the week. Thursday and Friday would see the girls practicing hard at home in order to get ready for another week of matches starting on Monday against Lockport.
JV2 This week we took on York High School, Leyden, and Neuqua Valley. York was our first match on Monday and we lost 0-4. The girls played tough matches against their team and we got close to securing a win but lost during a tie breaker. The next day we fought hard to tie against Leyden 1-1. We almost won our 3rd match but we got rained out. Finally, on day 3 of this week we played Neuqua Valley and lost 1-5. After a long week of matches, we spent Thursday and Friday working on our offensive skills and being more aggressive at the net.
Week of September 12th
JV1 Due to rain, practice for the team would be canceled on Monday but the girls would take the home court against Morton in another conference meeting. The Hornets would go on to win this matchup handedly with a score of 6-1, seeing some stellar play across all four doubles spots and from first time 1 singles player Maya Chrzanowska winning with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (11-9). The team would then take a day to practice in preparation for another conference match on Thursday facing Addison Trail in an away match. The Hornets would come away with another strong conference win here, once again seeing stellar doubles play across the board. Magdalena Macleod won a long and hard fought battle at number one singles, coming from behind and winning with a score of 5-7, 7-6(10-8), 10-5. After this victory, the girls would practice one more day this week and then take the weekend off in preparation for a week of three matches in a row.

This played out well in our matches and we came home with a win of 3-1.
Week of September 5th
JV1 After closing out the week with some hard practices and having their first day back at school, Hinsdale South would have their next match on Tuesday facing off with WSC conference rival Downers Grove South to begin the ever important conference season. Though the Hornets were at home for this conference opener, they would fall against Downers Grove South with a score of 1-6, the lone victory coming from Hinsdale’s 1 singles player Duyen Millon with a score of 6-4, 6-4. Though the girls lost a tough one, the week would call on more play as they would have more matches ahead of them this week.
The girls’ busy week would continue with an away match against Willowbrook on Thursday September 8th. In another Conference meeting, the girls would go on to play many tight matches across all the positions, so much so that all of the doubles matches went on to play third set match tiebreakers to decide the victors. Some extremely clutch doubles play would come from the rackets of JV1 veterans Jenna Pennington and Raeem Kholoki at the 1st doubles position, roaring to a win with a score of 2-6, 7-5, 10-1. The pair of Uyen Millon and Claire Camden at the 2nd doubles position would also make a strong comeback against Willowbrook winning 2-6, 6-2, 10-8. The 3rd doubles team of Haniya Muqtadar and Aseel Jarad also made a strong showing, winning handedly with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Unfortunately, the Hornets would lose this match overall with a tight score of 3-4 but look motivated to come back stronger for the next time they see this team.
After the match with Willowbrook, Hinsdale South would go on to practice in preparation for the West Aurora quad on Saturday September 10th. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, the Hornets would be down quite a few players that morning, managing to put out a full squad in order to face off with two West Aurora teams and Bartlett. In a slightly different match format of playing 10 total games, the Hornets would go on to lose in all three matches however also having a tie (with a score of 5-5) in all three as well. After a long day, the Hornets would return home with their sights set on the next match, where their opponent would be another conference match-up with Morton on Tuesday September 13th.
JV2 This week our JV2 hornets fought hard against Downers Grove South. Fatima Qureshi and and Zara Jamil won their doubles match in 2 sets, but we were unable to win the other 3. Eva Borsuk and Layan Al-Khaled played a set to 3 with an ending super tiebreaker and won 7-3.
Week of August 29th
JV1 Returning to the practice courts would have the ladies hitting more and more in preparation for their next match on Wednesday, August 31 against Downers Grove North. With another home match, the ladies looked to take it to the Trojans but would unfortunately go on to fall in this match with a score of 0-7. The closest match during this meeting between the two teams would come from the 3rd doubles pairing of juniors Claire Camden and Veanka Francisco who lost two tight sets of 3-6, 4-6. The Hornets wouldn’t have another match until Tuesday September 6th so they would find themselves working hard at practice until the next match.
JV2 The girls played a tough match this week and lost to DGN 0-4. That didn’t stop us - we came back to win 10-2 against St. Francis on 09/01. Freshman Sofiya Antonova played her first doubles match alongside Freshman Brooklynn Bodik to win at this match. During the Quad on 09/03, our girls fought hard to secure a win against Waubonsie Valley. We ended the week on a high note and are hopeful for the next couple of matches this week.
Week of August 22nd
JV1 Hinsdale South went on to begin their 2022 campaign with a home match against Naperville Central on Monday. Unfortunately missing a number of girls that day, the Hornets would go on to fall in this match-up against a strong Naperville Central team after playing two rounds of all doubles action. After the match, the Hornets would go back to practicing and conditioning hard over the rest of the week in preparation of their first quad of the season.
Hosted by Lake Park, the Hornets would make the trip up to their courts to play in round robin action against Benet, Lockport, and Lake Park themselves. For this event, the Hornets JV1 and JV2 teams would come together to face off with the other three teams on that early Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the girls would go on to lose with a score of 0-5 against all three schools, leaving the event with elements to work on in the coming week in preparation of their next match. JV2 JV 2 started strong with try outs lasting 3 days. All girls made the team and worked hard to build their skills. We spent the first two weeks practicing and getting ready for game play. Eva Borsuk and Erika Swiecki, Sophomores, worked as a doubles team to build their skills and Layan Al-Khalid, Junior, developed skills as a singles player.
