Week of October 3rd
Varsity This week started off a bit rocky for the Hornets who took some tough losses against St. Viator and York. Learning from those experiences combined with an approach of getting back to basics in practice, the Hinsdale South Girls Tennis Team finished first place in conference 3 points ahead of rival Downers Grove South after having a remarkable weekend tournament. All players placed either first or second place in conference, something not done in recent memory. At singles Aimee Puz (2nd), Natalie Axelrod (1st), and Carly Sattler (1st) provided some great strength at their respective positions. At doubles, some new teams resulted in stellar play with all double steams finishing in 2nd place. This was a tough task for the hornets as all players had to play up several positions from their normal position given some absences, but responded well and took care of business on court. This week the top six gear up to represent the team at the IHSA sectional hosted by LT.
JV The JV Hornets Girls' Tennis team wrapped up a very successful year on Saturday with a 3rd place finish in the conference. Leading the way for the Hornets were the doubles teams of Brigid Loconte and Sabrina Coffey (4th place at 1 doubles), SammyJo Lueg and Natalia Kurnyta (2nd place at 2 doubles), conference champions Egle Markus and Maureen Christofaro at 3rd doubles, and Ariana Giannini and Jess Matis (3rd place at 4 doubles). Overall, it was a fantastic year for the girls.
