Week of October 8th On Monday October 8, Alissa Banks and Charlotte O'Neill competed in Sectionals at Prairie Bluff Golf Course in Lockport. Banks shot a 98 and O'Neill shot a 108. Though the girls did not qualify for state, they were both sectional qualifiers 2 years in a row. Hornet Nation is proud of them!
Week of October 1st
On Wednesday October 3, The Hornets competed in the IHSA Regional at Carriage Greens in Darien. The Hornets finished in 6th place. Charlotte O'Neill 99 and Alissa Banks 103 qualified for the Sectional Meet. Mika Tarver 115 and Myah Fakhouri 116 rounded out the scoring for the Hornets.
Week of September 24th On Wednesday September 26, The Hornets competed in the West Suburban Conference meet at Broken Arrow Golf Course in Lockport. The Varsity team finished in 8th place with a score of 442. The Hornets were led by Dana Euske with a 107, followed by Sabrina Chander 110, Alissa Banks 112, and Charlotte O'Neill 113.
Week of September 17th The Hornet Girls' golfers had a very busy week, playing in 2 tournaments and 3 dual meets over an 8 day period.
The Hornets faced district rival Hinsdale Central on Monday September 17 at Carriage Greens. The Hornets lost the match, but scored their season low 191 against the Red Devils. The match score was South 191 and Central 164. 3 Hornets - Banks, O'Neill, and Euske shot 46, while Chander shot 53 to round out scoring for the home team.
The Hornets faced York on Wednesday September 19 for their Senior Night Celebration at Village Greens. Euske and O'Neill led the Hornets with a pair of 48's, followed by Chander 54, and Myah Fakhouri 55. The Hornets were defeated 205 -171.
On Thursday September 20 the Hornets played Plainfield North at Green Meadows. The Hornets were defeated 175 -160. Banks and Euske led the Hornets with scores of 40, followed by Fakhouri 47 and Mika Tarver 48.
The Hornets finished up the busy week by competing in the 9 hole OPRF Invite. The Hornets shot 213 and finished in 5th place. Euske led the Hornets with a 47, followed by Banks 49, O"Neill 56, and Fakhouri 61.
The Hornets will compete in the West Suburban Conference Meet on Wednesday September 26 at Broken Arrow Golf Course.
Week of September 10th
The Hornets defeated Addison Trail on Monday September 10 at Salt Creek Golf Course. The Hornets won by a score of 188 - 228. Seniors Alissa Banks and Sabrina Chander tied for medalist honors with a score of 45. Dana Euske and Charlotte o'Neill both shot 49 to round out the scoring for the Hornets.
On Tuesday September 11, the Hornets hosted OPRF at Village Greens. The Hornets fell to OPRF 222- 204. Alissa Banks had the low score for the Hornets with a 52, followed by Sabrina Chander 54, Charlotte O'Neill 56, and Dana Euske 60.
On Saturday September 15, the Hornets competed in the 26 team Providence Celtic Swing at Ravisloe Country Club. The Hornets finished in 10th place in the Silver division, shooting 446. Alissa Banks 105, Dana Euske 106, Sabrina Chander 113, and Charlotte O'Neill 122 scored for the Hornets.
Week of September 3rd
The Hornet Girls' Golfers were scheduled to play 3 matches this week, but Mother Nature had other plans. Our meets against OPRF and Plainfield North were cancelled. The OPRF meet has been rescheduled for Tuesday September 11 at Village Greens.
We were able to play DGS on Thursday Sept 7 at Downers Grove Golf Course. The Varsity shot their best score of the season, 207, but it was not enough to defeat the Mustangs. Score: Hinsdale South 207 DGS 174. Scoring for the Hornets were Alissa Banks 46, Charlotte O'Neill 53, and Sabrina Chander and Dana Euske, both scoring 54.
Week of August 27th
The Hornet girls' golfers had a busy week , playing three matches against Downers Grove North, Lyons Township, and Naperville North.
On Monday August 27, the Hornets hosted Downers Grove North for a conference match up. The Varsity Hornets were defeated by DGN by a score of 221 -181. Scoring for the Hornets were Alissa Banks (51), Dana Euske (52), Charlotte O'Neill (57) and Sabrina Chander (61).
On Wednesday, the Hornets traveled to Flagg Creek to take on Lyons Township in another conference match up. The Hornet Varsity played a strong match, but lost by a score of 195-163. The Hornets were led by Dana Euske (44), followed by Charlotte O'Neill (49), Alissa Banks (50), and Sabrina Chander (52).
On Friday, the Hornets played Naperville North at home. The Hornets were defeated by a very strong North team 217-164. Scoring for the Hornets were Banks(51), Euske (53), Chander (56) and O'Neill (57).
On Saturday, the Hornets were rained out of the DGN Scramble Invite.
Week of August 20th
The Hornet Girls' golf team had one conference meet this week on Wednesday August 22 against Willowbrook at Village Greens.
The Varsity team was victorious 219 - 230. Alissa Banks led the way as the medalist with a score of 49. Dana Euske (54), Mika Tarver (57) and Sabrina Chander (59) also scored for the Hornets.
The JV team lost to Willowbrook by a score of 285-261.
The Hornets have a busy week next week with conference matches against Downers Grove North (H) on Monday August 27 and Lyons Township (A) on August 29. The Hornets will also play Naperville North at home on August 30 and will compete in the DGN Scramble Invite on Saturday September 1.
Week of August 13th The Hornet Girls' Golf Team has been working very hard to get ready for the 2018 season. Although we have a small 10 member team, the players are committed to learning the game of golf and having fun.
Our first dual match was on Thursday August 16 was against Naperville Central at Naperbrook Golf Course. The course was challenging and the weather was very hot and humid. The varsity lost to the Redhawks by a score of 230-167. Sabrina Chander shot the low score of 54 for the Hornets. The JV girls played a mixed scramble with the members of the Redhawk JV team. It was a nice way for our newest members to play their first match and learn how golf matches are run.
On Saturday, August 18, the Hornet Varsity competed in the 24 team Joliet Invite. 3 two-player teams competed for the Hornets. Teams played a scramble for the first 9 holes and alternate shot for the second 9 holes. Alissa Banks and Dana Euske shot 92, Sabrina Chander and Myah Fakhouri shot a 96, and Charlotte O'Neill and Mika Tarvar shot a 104. As a team, our total of 292 put us in 17th place.
Next week, the Hornets will open up conference play on Wednesday, August 22 against Willowbrook at Village Greens.
