Week of September 17th
Monday, September 17th The Lady Hornets traveled to O’Brien Park in Downers Grove to run against DGS and Morton. The girls followed our team strategy for the meet and ran in much better groups instead of being alone the whole race. The team running concept will be helpful for the remainder of the season. Sierra Carder came off a tough Peoria Invite weekend and still ran a personal season best (very close to a personal career best) time of 25:05.
Saturday, September 22nd Hoffman Estates Invite - 15th Place
Week of September 10th
On Monday, the girls had a dual meet against the Eagles of Leyden High School at KLM. The Hornets lost the meet 38-20. Patrice Trzupek was the individual race champion. The rest of the hornets battled the creek and the course for the entire 3 miles. Hard work came from Kate Haffner, Victoria Cius, Olivia Rogers, Shaylinn Aver, Ashley Slaybough, Nicole Pacasova, Sierra Carder, Easton Jasinski, Marwa Shahloul, Zofia Oles, Nicole Budzak, Kylie Ondra, Olivia Dire, and Leila Alkhatib.
On Saturday, Peoria Notre Dame Invitational was the next stop for the girls’ cross country team. This meet is run on the State meet course. Great experience for all!! On the varsity level Patrice Trzupek ran 19:10, which is only 6 seconds off her best Detweiller Park time. We had many season improvements on a beautiful morning in Peoria. Shaylinn Aver, Victoria Cius, Olivia Dire, Easton Jasinski, Shahina Karim, Zofia Oles, Kylie Ondra, Nicole Pacasova, Olivia Rogers, Marwa Sahloul, and Ashley Slaybough all had season improvements!
Week of September 3rd
On Saturday, the Lady Hornets traveled to the Reavis Ram Invitational. This was the first meet that all girls ran a full 3 mile race. They were very proud of themselves and rightfully so. They are competed well and were happy with their performances. In the varsity race Patrice Trzupek earned a 6th place medal and ran 20:27. In the Frosh/Soph race Olivia Rogers earned 13th medal, Kate Haffner earned 19th medal, and Nicole Pacasova earned a 25th medal. In the Open race Shahina Karim bettered her time from last year by more than 3 minutes!!!
Week of August 27th
The Lady Hornets started their competitive season at Katherine Legge Memorial Park on Monday with a shortened race because of the 100 degree heat index and came away with a double win over Willowbrook and Proviso East. The Hornets beat Willowbrook 22-37 and also beat Proviso East 22-37. Patrice Trzupek was the individual winner of the race. Freshmen Kate Haffner, Victoria Cius, and Olivia Rogers along with senior Shaylinn Aver and juniors Ashley Slaybough and Sierra Carder filled out the rest of the varsity finishers.
On Tuesday, the Lady Hornets traveled to Plainfield North for a Relay meet. The Frosh/Soph girls had a good relay meet with Victoria Cius and Olivia Rogers placing 9th and Kate Haffner and Nicole Pacasova placing 15th. The varsity girls were able to start their race but then the thunder and lightning cancelled the remainder of the meet.
On Saturday, the Hornets arrived to compete in the Hornet/Red Devil Invitational but the thunder and lightning cancelled that meet as well.
