Neha Chinwalla and Patrice Trzupek have been the 1 -2 punch for the Hornet Girls’ Cross Country team all season! The two girls have traded 1st or 2nd team runner positions for the cross country team all year. When the girls announced their own goals of qualifying for the STATE Cross Country meet very early in the season, they knew what they would need to do to accomplish that goal!
The hard work and dedication to their everyday training starting back in the summer and leadership on our team have been evident all season. Neha has been like a “big sister” to Patrice in all areas of school. She has tutored Patrice in academic classes and mentored her as a true senior leader throughout the season.
They were both able to accomplish their goal of qualifying for the state meet, but then pushed beyond this first goal and accomplished even more. The girls finished in the upper half (84th and 85th) of all State Meet runners in the state of Illinois. They BOTH ran PERSONAL BEST times of 19:04 on that course and for the season!
We are going to miss Neha a great deal next fall, but will look forward to Patrice’s leadership as a strong junior and experienced returning State Meet runner. Congratulations to both Neha and Patrice! Be ready to take those Cross Country goals and accomplishments and work them into your track season!! WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!
