Varsity Last week the Hornets played back to back games versus West Chicago and Oak Park River Forest. Hinsdale completed their 19th win against west Chicago with a 66-46 Victory. The crossover game against OPRF stay close with the Hornets trailing most of the game. The Hornets fell short to lose the competition before starting regional play.
Sophomore The sophomores finished out the season with 3 wins in a row to end with a winning record of 14-13! Monday included a big win over West Chicago, followed by a great victory in the cross over game vs OPRF on Tuesday! All players contributed on Monday and Tuesday was a great battle that was won with plenty of focus and heart. This season was one of growth. The sophomores played their best basketball at the end of the season and grew into a team that is ready to move onto the varsity squad and make an impact. The team celebrated the 3 game winning streak and above .500 record with a dinner party on Wednesday!
Freshman A The Freshman A team ended the year with a win at West Chicago on Monday and a tough loss to OPRF on Tuesday night. On Monday, we overcame a 3 point deficit at half time to win 31-18. We were led in scoring by Keaton Lancaster with 9 points and Sylvannah Batchelor with 8 points. The team defense was stellar, as we held West Chicago to only 4 points in the second half. On Tuesday night we traveled to OPRF for our WSC cross over game, but came out with a tough loss, 32-20. We played tough all night, with great defense in the second half, but we just couldn't get our shots to fall. We were led in scoring by Jamilah Cooper with 8 points and Zoey Williams with 5 points. The girls gave a tremedous effort throughout the year and each one is a better player than when the season started. I am proud of each and every one of them: Zoey, Keaton, Batch, Lujayne, Jamilah, Jaya and Ari. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B On Monday the Hornets took on West Chicago. The girls started off strong with an early lead with points by Ari Wimberly, Lujayn Safe, Jaia Baymon, and Jamilah Cooper to put us ahead 12-9 at half. The girls continued this effort in second half and won the game 24-11. Great defensive plays by Eboni Lard and Zippy Bosley. Then on Tuesday the girls played OPRF. Despite our early lead with points by Ari Wimberly and Eboni Lard, with few subs our girls couldn't keep up with OPRF's attack. I was proud of their effort until the end of the game. We ended up with a loss of 36-24 to finish the season. We ended the season with a conference record of 2-10 and an overall record of 4-20. The girls have improved tremendously throughout the season and have a lot to be proud of.
Week of February 1st
Varsity This week the hornets finished up conference play versus Leyden and Downers Grove South. Hinsdale South faced Leyden on Tuesday for Senior night. The Hornets controlled the game from start to finish getting out to a commanding lead. The seniors led the way finishing out the Eagles 69-44. In the contest against Downers Grove South the Hornets battled to take a 10 point lead at halftime, at the end of regulation it was all tied up after a put back from the Mustangs. Downers Grove South pulled away in overtime to win the contest over the Hornets.
Sophomore The sophomores split in conference again this week with a loss to Leyden on Tuesday and a big overtime win at DGS on Friday. The loss was uncharacteristic of the hornets but the team suffered Some injuries and a low shooting percentage at home. Things turned around however, in the win over DGS, Alix Muckles stormed in with 21 points with two key free throws made to send the game into overtime! The game was won with great defense as the hornets forced DGS into over 17 turnovers. Frankie Markos also chipped in 13 points while Latavia Latham and Amber Hare added 6 each. The overtime road victory was a great way to end conference play.
Freshman A It was another split week for the freshman a girls basketball team. On Tuesday at home, we beat Leyden 30–27. We were led in scoring by Zoey Williams with 12 points and Jamilah Cooper with 8 points. We swept both games against Leyden this year. On Friday night we traveled to Downers Grove South to face our rivals. We played a much improved DGS team and lost 47-27. We were led again by Zoey Williams with 11 points. Jamilah Cooper added 8 points and Lujayne Safe had 5 points. We have two games next week to end our season. The girls have improved greatly and we are looking for a strong finish. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B This week the hornets took on Leyden and DGS for our last two conference games. Wednesday was a close game with leading scorers Siriah Bland and Zippy Bosley. Unfortunately our press in the 4th quarter left too many players in foul trouble to make a comeback and we finished the game with a loss of 24-12. Then on Friday we took on DGS at DGS. Despite a hard fought game with leading scorers Eboni Lard, Jess Smith and Zippy Bosley and multiple steals by Mady Donato we couldn't keep up with the Mustangs offense. We ended with a 32-13 loss. However the girls out scored the Mustangs 8-0 in the 4th quarter and never gave up. We finish up our season next week with two more games.
Week of January 25th
Varsity Hinsdale South had a successful week of conference games against Willowbrook and Morton. Missing starting Post player, Cheyanne Stage, the Hornets had to battle Willowbrook to the end pulling off the Victory by 3 points 53-50. Sydney Kopp Scored a game high 37 points. In the battle versus Morton, the Hornets were 2-0 in the series coming into the final conference game of the season. The Hornets won the first conference game at home and faced Morton in the Christmas tournament championship game and came out with the victory. Hinsdale South pulled out a team victory with 2 players scoring i double digits and making necessary adjustments to close the game out by 14 points. Tatyana Presley scored 22 points, Sydney Kopp added 18 points, 7 rebound, and 7 assists, and Terri Jackson contributed 12 points in the 67-53 victory. The Hornets are now 8-2 in conference.
Sophomore The sophomores split this week in conference play with a 26-32 loss to Willowbrook on Tuesday and a 37-13 win over Morton on Friday. In both games Francesca Markos lets the way with 14 and 15 points respectively. The team tallied over 30 steals in the two games and Amber Hare was responsible for 8 steals in the win over Morton. The team allowed only two baskets for Morton as well as 9 free throws. Overall, the Sophs are now 11-12.
Freshman A After a long rest, the team got back into conference play with a win against Willowbrook and a loss to Morton. On Tuesday we avenged an earlier defeat to Willowbrook by beating them at home, 36-20. Another great team defensive effort. Willowbrook never scored more than 7 points in a quarter. The scoring was led by Zoe Williams with 10 points, Jamilah Cooper with 8 points and LuJayne Safe with 7 points. On Friday we traveled to Morton to face the 1st place team in conference. We played good basketball, but lost 44-27. Jamilah Cooper had a game high 10 points and Sylvannah Batchelor had a personal season high of 8 points. We have our last home game on Tuesday, followed by an away game at rival, Downers Grove South, next Friday. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B This week the Hornets took on Willowbrook on Wednesday. We took and early lead with top scorers Zippy Bosley and Siriah Bland. But Willowbrook came back to tie it up in the 3rd quarter. Our girls pressed their team to cause two turnovers and take the lead. We won the game with a final score of 16-11. Great defense by Jess Smith and Eboni Lard. Then on Friday we played Morton. Despite a close first half with our leading scorers Siriah Bland and Eboni Lard, we couldn't keep up with Morton's offense. The Hornets play again on Tuesday at home vs Leyden!
Week of January 18th
Varsity The Hornets were invited to an invite only shootout at Kenwood this week. The played Kenwood and battled all 4 quarters before pulling ahead with a 7 point lead with under a minute left in the game. Kenwood applied pressure and to get back in the game. With seconds left, Kenwood hits a 3 point shot to put them up 1 and win the game over the Hornets.

Freshman A It was a slow week for the team as we had no games scheduled. We spent the week working on our shooting and ball handling. We also introduced a new play that will give our offense some extra options. We even hit the weight room this week. Special thanks to Coach Grimmer for putting the girls through a rigorous workout. This week, we look forward to avenging earlier losses to Willowbrook and Morton. GO HORNETS!!!

Week of January 11th
Varsity This week the Hornets faced crossover opponent in Downers Grove North and conference opponent Addison Trail. Downers Grove North maintained a 4 point lead majority of the game before pulling away to finish the game by 8. Their defense limited shots for Sydney Kopp and force other players to step up and score which didn't happen for the Hornets, falling to the Trojans 45-37. Addison Trail put up a fight in the beginning scoring inside and out in the first quarter only trailing by 5 but the Hornets pulled away to stay up and finish the game 65-50. Sydney Kopp finished with 31 points on a buzzer beater to finish the game Tatyana Presley scored 11 and Terri Jackson added 9.
Sophomore This week the team had two games including a loss to DGN on Friday and a conference win over Addison Trail on Saturday. In the Downers Grove North loss the team struggled offensively and only scored 23 points. Frankie Markos led with 7 points and four steals while Maddie Jensen played hard tallying 6 rebounds and 4 steals. In Saturday's win, Amber Hare led the way with 11 points while Markos added 9. Both Maddie Jensen and Latavia Latham had 8 rebounds as well. The team played hard in both games and will rest for over a week until the next game.
Freshman A The Freshman Girls Basketball A Team had a rough week as we dropped 2 road games, one to Downers Grove North (28-23) and the other to Addison Trail (23-21). The Hornets led in both games but were unable to come away with a victory. The defense was stellar in both games and remained disciplined while facing adversity. Ari Wimberly was the lead scorer in the Downers Grove North game with 6 points, but everyone in the lineup scored. On Saturday, the guards did most of the scoring with Zoe Williams scoring 8 points and Keaton Lancaster scoring 7 points. Special thanks to Siriah Bland and Zippy Bosley for helping out against Addison Trail. Even though the team lost 2 games this week, the team showed great discipline, determination and competitiveness. We have 10 days off before our next game against Willowbrook. We will use that time to hone our skills to make sure that we finish the season strong. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B This weekend the girls took on Downers Grove North and Addison Trail. On Friday we played Downers Grove North and despite the girls moving the ball well on offense our shots wouldn’t fall and we couldn’t score. Then on Saturday the girls bounced back from a tough loss to take on Addison Trail. The girls played great the entire game constantly staying within 2-4 points of Addison Trail. Leading scorers were Zippy Bosley with 9 points and Siriah Bland with 6 points. A hard fought 4th quarter sadly left us down by two when we missed our last shot at the buzzer. Jess Smith and Jenna Gonzalez played great defense with multiple steals each. We have a chance to improve over the next week and half before we take on Willowbrook at home.
Week of January 4th
Varsity The Hornets this week faced two conference opponents falling to Proviso East in a tough game and taking care of business against Leyden. The Hornets got into foul trouble early against the Pirates and got down at half and couldn't catch up. Sydney Kopp led all scores versus Leyden with 32 points, Cheyanne Stage added 8 points, 10 blocks and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore The hornets were 1-1 in conference play this week with a loss to Proviso East and a win over Leyden. In the 27-36 loss, Francesca Markos led the way with 10 points and Evelyn Edmond had an all around good showing with 4 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. In the 47-26 win over Leyden, Jaylyn Grant had a big night with 12 points and 5 steals. Alix Muckles added 10 points as well.
Freshman A The Freshman A girls team started off the new year with a win and a loss. On Wednesday we hosted proviso East, but lost 40–26. We were led in scoring by Zoe Williams with 11 points and Jamilah Cooper with 8 points. When we played at Leyden on Friday night, the girls were determined to come away with a victory. It was a great team effort on both offense and defense. The defense was led by Keaton Lancaster and Sylvannah Batchelor, with Zoe Williams providing key defense on their top scorer in the fourth quarter. On offense Jamilah Cooper had 10 points and Lujayne Safe had 7 points, with all 6 girls scoring. A solid start to the second half of the season. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B The Freshman Girls started conference play again this week taking on Proviso East on Wednesday and Leyden on Friday. The girls held Proviso to only 19 points throughout the entire game however our 7 points were not enough to take the lead. Leading scorers were Eboni Lard and Zippy Bosley. Defensive standouts for the game were Maddie Donato and Jess Smith who each made multiple steals throughout the game to breakup Proviso’s offensive attack. On Friday, the girls played Leyden. Leyden took an early lead but we were able to come back and tie the game 13-13 at the start of the 4th quarter. Despite our best efforts, Leyden took an early lead in the 4th and won the game 24-14. Leading scorers for the Hornets were Siriah Bland with 8 points and Zippy Bosley with 4 points. Eboni Lard played a great defensive game which help us hold them to only 13 points in 3 quarters.
Week of December 28th
Varsity The Hornets remain on their 8 game winning after beating St. Ignatius and Morton, two team they have faced before earlier in the season. Hinsdale redeemed themselves against St. Ignatius after winning the semifinal game that came down to the wire pulling off a exciting victory. That victory lead to the championship game vs. Morton where the Hornets jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. The game was back in forth til the Hornets closed out the game for the Championship in the Riverside Brookfield Christmas Tournament. Sydney Kopp was the MVP and All-Tournament Team recipient.
Sophomore The sophomores went 2-1 this week at the RB tourney with a loss to Argo and wins over Morton and DeLasalle. In the 43-52 loss to Argo, the hornets were led by Francesca Markos who had 11 points and Alix Muckles who scored 10. In the next two games the team rallied back with huge wins where every player was able to tally at least a point! In the 51-23 win over Morton, the team was led by Muckles with 10 points and Maddie Jensen who had 9. In the 57-20 win over DeLasalle, Amber Hare had 13 points and Muckles tallied another 12 point game. Congratulations to Julianna Balagat who played some great defense in her first two games and to Gill Allen and Stephanie Tagudar who scored their first points of the season! All of the players contributed and finished up the tournament with a 3-2 record leaving the squad a bit closer to .500 at 8-9 overall.
Week of December 21st
Varsity This week The Hornets kicked off the Riverside Brookfield Christmas Tournament going 2-0 vs. Argo and De La Salle High school. In the competition vs. Argo, Hinsdale south lead majority of the contest before making a crucial change in the defenses and disrupting Argo's offense and the Hornets pulled away, closing the game by 10. Sydney Kopp scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, Terri Jackson scored 16 points. De La Salle posed a different challenge with a 6'5 center and quick guards. Hinsdale South fought the entire game and winning by 6. Sydney Kopp scored 29 points, Presley scored 9 points, Cheyanne scored 8 points, and Koziol added 7 points.
Sophomore The sophomores had two games on Saturday in the RB tourney and finished with a loss to York and a win over Illiana Christian. Being off for two days for the holidays left the teams little rusty in game one but once the Hornets got their momentum back they played well in the win! It was all defense (multiple steals and blocks) in the third quarter that sparked the scoring push which put the squad in the lead by 16. The RB tourney continues this week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and the team is going for second place in their bracket.
Week of December 14th
Varsity After coming off a big win against conference foe, Morton, Hinsdale South had two more conference competitions ahead of them. The first game was against Willowbrook. The Hornets jumped out to a 10 point led in the first quarter but ended up trailing by 2 at the half. In the locker room the Hornets came together and came out to jump ahead by 9 at the end of the 3rd. Leading by as many as 15 in the 4th the Hornets were able to hold of the Warriors 73-68.The win against Willowbrook gave the hornets a 2 game win streak and advance them to 3-1 in conference. They were now about to face Downers Grove South for 2nd place in conference thus far. Coach Love intensely broke down the Mustangs offense and defense and came up with a plan to help the Hornets win. The Lady Hornets stuck to the plan and fought hard. At the half time, the score was tied at 23 points. Sydney Kopp really took off scoring 22 of her 33 points in the second half to help advance Hinsdale South to another conference win, making their record 4-1.
Sophomore The hornets got two close conference wins this week, Willowbrook on Tuesday, and Downers Grove South on Saturday. The team executed their plays well on Tuesday and were led by Francesca Markos with 12 points and Alix Muckles with 9 over the Warriors. In Saturday, Muckles led the way with 13 points on 4 three pointers, while Amber Hare added 6 points. Evelyn Edmond also contributed with 5 points and 7 rebounds and 3 blocks in the win. The Sophs are taking a break for the holidays and will return on the 26th at the RB Holiday Tourney.
Freshman A It was another split week for the Freshman A Team. We lost to Willowbrook, 44-21. It was a tough night for the team, but we got scoring from 6 different players: Zoe Williams - 7, Sylvannah Batchelor - 5, Keaton Lancaster - 4, Jamilah Cooper - 2, LeJaia Baymon - 2, Ari Wimberly - 1. We then celebrated the end of the first semester with a win over our rival, Downers Grove South, 25-24. It was a great team effort on defense, as our 2/3 zone held DGS to only 6 points in the second half. The offense was lead by Jamilah Cooper with 12 points and Zoe Williams with 7 points. Beating DGS was a nice way to head into winter break. GO HORNETS!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Freshman B This week the Freshman Girls took on Willowbrook and DGS. Even though neither game ended in our favor the girls worked hard till the final buzzer in both games. Leading scorers against Willowbrook were Siriah Bland and Eboni Lard. The girls played great defense and held Willowbrook to only 20 points which was a huge defensive improvement from our last game. Then on Friday we played DGS at home. Zippy Bosley, Eboni Lard, and Jess Smith made multiple steals on defense while Mady Donato's pressure on their point guard caused multiple turn overs. The game didn't end in our favor but I was proud of how hard the girls played all game. We will work hard over winter break and come back ready to take on Proviso East on January 6th at home.
Week of December 7th
Varsity The Hornets faced two conference opponents this week in Proviso East and Morton. The Hornets fell to Proviso East's pressure defense. Sydney Kopp notched 26 points, Terri Jackson added 8 points. Against Morton, Hinsdale pulled of a victory in overtime. At the end of regulation Terri Jackson hit a clutch 3 pointer to tie the game. The Hornets made adjustments in their defense to secure the win in the extra quarter. Sydney Kopp scored 24 points and 10 plus rebounds, Terri Jackson added 21 points and Joanna Bassig added 8 points.
Sophomore The sophomores split again this week with a tough road loss over Proviso East on Tuesday and a win at home on Saturday over Morton. The hornets were led by Francesca Markos in both games with 11 points at Proviso and 10 points vs Morton. Saturday's win was all defense as the hornets allowed only 4 points in the first half. Many players contributed in the win and the team is ready for finals and two big conference games next week with Willowbrook on Tuesday and DGS on Friday.
Freshman A It was a split week for the Freshman A Girls Basketball team as we beat Proviso East on Tuesday, 36-34 in overtime, but then lost on Saturday to Morton, 33-13. The win at Proviso East was our biggest win of the year. We overcame a 16 point deficit at halftime to win by 2 points in overtime. Our defense stepped up big in the second half and was lead by Sylvannah Batchelor, Jamilah Cooper and Lujayn Safe. The offense was lead by Jamilah Cooper with 8 points and Keaton Lancaster with 9 points, including some key free throws down the stretch. Saturday's home game with Morton did not fare as well. We stayed close for a half, but could not find the offensive flow all night. We look forward to getting another shot at Morton later in the season. Go Hornets!!!
Freshman B This week the Freshman Girls B team suffered two hard conference losses to Proviso East and Morton. Despite the losses, the girls played extremely hard throughout the entire and never game up. Great defense was played this week by Mady Donato, Enoma Egiebor, Jess Smith, and Eboni Lard. They all pressured the ball hard causing multiple turnovers each game and were our top rebounders. Leading point scorers were Siriah Bland, Zippy Bosley, and Jenna Gonzalez. The girls will regroup at practice tomorrow and continue our conference play this week against Willowbrook and DGS.
Week of November 30th
Varsity The Hornets competed in two games this week against Glenbard East and in their first conference game against Addison Trail. In the Game vs Glenbard East the hornets started out strong wining the first quarter of the game but Glenbard East proved to be too strong through out gaining an advantage in rebounds and pulling away with the win. Sydney Kopp led all scores with 21 points.
In the competition against conference foe, Addison Trail, The Hornets redeemed them selves by jumping out to a 30-12 lead over Addison Trail in the first half. The Hornets continued in the second half and went on to increase the lead to a 65-32 final. Sydney Kopp had 33 points and 7 assists, Terri Jack added 15 points, Tatyana scored 11 points
Sophomore The hornets split this week with a loss to Glenbard East on Tuesday and a conference win over Addison Trail on Saturday. With 13 steals and 31 rebounds, the hornets used their defense to help get the win. The hornets also had all ten players score at least two points in the victory. Looking forward to more growth and more conference wins next week.
Freshman A The Freshman A team had a win and a loss this week. On Tuesday, we had a great defensive win against Glenbard East, 23-19. Sylvannah Batchelor, Lujayn Safe, Ari Wimberly, Lejaia Baymon and Siriah Bland all played tough defense down low and Glenbard East never scored more than 6 points in a quarter. Zoe Williams led the scoring with 8 points and Keaton Lancaster had 4 points. Also, Zippy Bosley hit a big 3-pointer right before the halftime buzzer. On Saturday, we opened conference play with a hard fought loss to Addison Trail, 34-30. Zoe Williams led the scoring again with 11 points and Siriah Bland, Sylvannah Batchelor and Keaton Lancaster each had 4 points. It was a team effort on offense as every girl on the team scored in the game. It was a tough loss, but we are learning and we are getting better. GO HORNETS!!!
Freshman B This week the Freshman B Girls Basketball team played two games. On Tuesday the girls played Glenbard East and despite the loss of 26-4, I was very proud of the girls effort in the second half. As a team they did not give up the entire game. On Saturday the girls beat Addison Trail 14-11 for our first conference win! Leading scorers were Jenna Gonzalez and Zippy Bosley both with 6 points each. The girls played a great defensive game with multiple steals by Jess Smith, Eboni Lard, and Mady Donato. We take on Proviso East on Tuesday for our second conference game.
Week of November 23rd
Varsity Hornets take the second best record in the tournament under Montini. We went 4-1 capping off the tournament with a victory Neuqua Valley, 53-45. Very proud of them staying in the game after being down 11 at halftime. Cheyanne Stage had 7 rebounds, Terri Jackson added 8 points and Sydney Kopp put in 25 points. Sydney Kopp averaged 27.2 points per game in the tournament. Great tournament, Conference start next month.
Sophomore After a short week, the hornets got their first win Over Plainfield South on Friday with great contributions from all players on the roster. Today's loss was technically a moral victory for the sophomores. Francesca Markos made a controversial lay up at the buzzer that the referees discounted, taking away a tough fought come back from the hornets. Coach Belmonte is proud of the team for making the come back after being down 14 at half. Evelyn Edmond hit a huge 3 to put the team within 1 with four seconds left. It was a great battle and we look forward to the regular season starting up next week after some good games in our tip-off tourney.
Freshman A After a few practices and a day off for Thanksgiving, it was time to get back to the Hinsdale South Tournament. On Friday we played Plainfield South. We suffered a tough loss, 22-12. We only had 5 girls and they played tough without any subs. We were lead by Zoe Williams and Siriah Bland with 4 points each. We recovered nicely on Saturday with a 27-15 victory over Reavis. Leading the way again was Zoe Williams with 9 points, followed by Lujayn Safe and Ari Wimberly with 5 points each. Sylvannah Batchelor rebounded well and played great defense down low, while Keaton Lancaster applied defensive pressure up top. The victory was a nice way to end the tournament as we head into conference play.
Freshman B On Friday the Freshman girls B team lost to Plainfield South 18-25. Despite the loss the girls played a hard game without any subs. Top scorers were Ari Wimberly with 10 points and Zippy Bosley with 8 points. Great rebounds and defense by Jenna Gonzalez, Mady Donato, and Enoma Egiber. On Saturday the girls finished off their tournament with a 23-12 win against Reavis! Leading scorers were Ari Wimberly with 10 points and Siriah Bland with 8 points. Excellent defense by our whole team only allowing 12 points all game. We are excited for our next home game on Tuesday against Glenbard East.
Week of November 16th
Varsity In the 1st game vs. Lemont, it was a tough lost for Hinsdale South. South lead the competition most of the way before losing the lead in the final minutes of the game. Sydney Kopp scored 27 points and Terri Jackson added 7points. Starting out the Hinsdale South Thanksgiving Tip Off Tournament the Hornets faced Stagg and Bradley Bourbonnais. Hinsdale South advanced past both teams grabbing a 2-0 start to the tournament before being halted by St. Ignatius in the 3rd game of the tournament. Sydney Kopp scored 35 vs. Bradley and holds a total of 66 points in the tournament thus far. Cheyanne Stage leads the team in rebounds averaging 5 rebounds per game.
Sophomore The sophomore team had a tough first week, losing their first four games. The teams in the Tip-Off Tournament are very strong and gave us great games. The sophomores are continuing to grow each game and get better every play. Some highlights of the week include tough rebounding by Maddie Jensen, key 3 pointers by Alix Muckles, and plenty of fast break lay-ups by Francesca Markos. The team is looking forward to a couple of key practices this week and a short break for Family time. Hopefully we can finish the tournament strong next weekend and head into the regular season more prepared.
Freshman A After 2 weeks of preseason practice, the Freshman Girls Basketball team finally got a chance to take to the court. We played our first game as a full squad, but lost 28-19 to Lemont. The next night we split up into an A and B team for the Hinsdale South Tournament. We started the tournament with a hard fought win against Stagg. The team had to fight off a tough comeback from Stagg, but hung on for the win, 32-30. The girls were thrilled to start the tournament with a win. The next 2 games against Bradley-Bourbannais and St. Ignatius did not produce the same result. We lost both games, but the girls outscored both teams in the second half. The girls are looking to get off to a better start next week as we finish up with the Hinsdale South Tournament. GO HORNETS!
Freshman B This week the Freshman Girls Basketball team started off our season with 4 games. We played our first game as a combined freshman team against Lemont High School. The girls played great for their first game scoring 19 points. Unfortunately this wasn't enough to beat Lemont's 28 points but we were very proud of their effort. Then on Tuesday the Freshman girls basketball team split and the B team took on Stagg. Despite a first half that left our team down by 12 points, we were able to make a come back in the second half to end the game 17-21 only losing the game by 4. I was so happy with the way the team didn't give up and fought all the way until the end. Then on Thursday and Saturday we lost to Bourbonnais and St. Ignatius. The girls played well during both games but after a long week of games the girls were able to rest today and we have a few more practices before we take on Plainfield South next Friday. Go Hornets!
