Varsity The Hornets fell to Leyden 21-19 on Friday night. The Hornets led the game at halftime 13-7 after a long touchdown run by Isaiah Burton and a touchdown pass from Ben Miller to Nate Navarro. A close game throughout saw the Hornets down 21-13 with a few minutes left. The Hornets drove down the field and scored with a minute left on a pass from Miller to Piers Morgan, but failed to get the two point conversion. Leyden was able to kneel the clock out and win a close one. We are very grateful for the work that our seniors have put in these past four years, and look forward to building something special this off-season!
Freshman The freshmen hornets ended their season in an unusual way on Thursday night with a 0-0 tie vs the Leyden eagles. Hinsdale South by far controlled the line of scrimmage in this one and drove the ball three times into the red zone but came up empty each time. Hinsdale South, however, finishes their season for the third straight in a row with at least a .500 record. They end at 4-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference.
Week 8
Varsity The Hornets defeated conference opponent Morton by a score of 35-14 on Senior Night at home on Friday. The Hornets led 7-6 at halftime behind a pick-six by Piers Morgan, but took off after halftime, scoring 28 points in a row. Isaiah Burton led with 119 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Ben Miller had a passing touchdown to Piers Morgan, and Marco Wallace added another touchdown on the ground. Jackson Schuyler added an interception as well. The Hornets improved to 2-6 and 2-3 in the WSC Gold, wrapping up their season at Leyden next Friday.
JV Hornets JV Football Defeats Morton 35-13 The Hinsdale South Hornets junior varsity football season has concluded with a commanding 35-13 victory over Morton on Monday evening! The Hornets set the tone early on offense, controlling the tempo with a powerful ground attack as well completed a couple passes. Hinsdale South found the end zone five times on the ground, led by sophomore O’ryan Chrisman & Marko Wallace who hit Morton with the double tandem. Defensively, the Hornets forced 3 major turnovers. Hornets were able to sack the QB 5 times & force 3 fumbles that kept the hornets offense on the field. With the victory, Hinsdale South JV has ended their season with winning a record of 4-2
Freshman The freshmen hornets won in a hotly contested game against Morton on Friday night by a score of 23-7. After falling behind early due to a pick 6 in the first quarter, the hornets came storming back with 23 unanswered. Notable in the contest is that Hinsdale south kicked its first PAT of the season and otherwise dominated on defense with a shutout. The hornets are now 4-4 on the season and 3-1 in conference.
Week 7
Varsity The Hornets fell to rival Downers Grove South by a score of 30-27 on Friday night in a heartbreaker. South led 20-7 at halftime behind two touchdowns from Isaiah Burton and a trick play touchdown pass from Nate Navarro to Piers Morgan. DGS tied the game at 20-20, and again at 27-27 with 5 minutes left. The Mustangs then kicked a game-winning field goal with under 2 minutes left in the game. Isaiah Burton had over 150 all-purpose yards and 3 total touchdowns. Nate Navarro led the Hornets in receiving yards with 54. Ben Miller threw for over 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jackson Schuyler led with 6 total tackles.
JV Hornets JV Football comes up short to DGS 12-14 The Hornets set the tone early on offense scoring on the first drive but ends up missing the extra point that will come back to haunt them. Dgs responded with a score. Both teams came down to a two point conversion, which HS south got stopped on the 1 yard line. That potentially could’ve tied the game. Defensively, the Hornets forced 3 major turnovers. Hornets were able to create enough stops to keep the game close. Especially being down by a score coming out of halftime. Offensively for the hornets it came down to game winning drive, that came up short. With the loss , Hinsdale South fell to their second loss of the season
Freshman The freshmen hornets won a knock down and drag out game vs rivals DGS on Friday night by a score of 8-7. Owen Miller was the standout in this one taking a play action pass in the fourth quarter to the house for a 50 yard touchdown from JJ Bodik. Downers never scored an offensive TD as their only one came on a pick 6 in the first quarter. Hinsdale South is now 3-4 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.
Week 6
Varsity The Hornets fell to Glenbard West by a score of 63-0 on Saturday in Glen Ellyn. The Hornets struggled to get going on either side of the ball against the state-title contender Hilltopper team. The Hornets did not have any turnovers, and receivers Donte Jett and Lamarius Moore had a few big catches. Nate Navarro led the team in tackles.
Freshman The freshmen hornets lost 49-0 Thursday night vs Glenbard West HS. Hinsdale South was simply overwhelmed in this one and will look to put this game behind them as they prepare for upcoming rivals DGS. Hinsdale South is now 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference.
Week 5
Varsity The Hornets fell to conference opponent Willowbrook by a score of 45-14 on Friday. The game was tied 14-14 at halftime, but the Warriors had a few breaks fall their way which snowballed into a large deficit for the Hornets. Jonathan Mansker led the Hornets with 10 total tackles. Isaiah Burton scored a touchdown and Ben Miller had one touchdown pass to Donte Jett. The Hornets are now 1-4 and 1-2 in the West Suburban Gold.
JV Hornets JV Football comes up short to Willowbrook 14-6 The Hornets were tested this well versus Willowbrook. Offensively the hornets put together a scoring drive but ended up missing the extra point attempt. Hornets tried going for two, but ended short resulting the score 7-6. Both teams came down to a two point conversion and were stopped. Willowbrook will score one more time off a pass interference call, that led them into the end zone. The hornets put together a game winning drive to get to the 25 yard line with no timeouts left to run a final Hail Mary play. Willowbrook intercepted the ball and returned 35 yards that would result into the hornets losing. Hinsdale South were handed their first loss of the season
Freshman The hornets dropped one on the road at Willowbrook by a score of 48-26 on Thursday night in a game where there were few punts. JJ Bodik threw 2 and Ethan Olave ran for two scores in this one, but ultimately the mountain was just too hard to climb. The freshmen hornets are 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in conference.
Week 4
Varsity The Hornets fell to Addison Trail 21-7 on Friday night in front of a large homecoming crowd. The Hornets struggled to get going on offense and made a few mistakes that led to Blazer scores. Isaiah Burton scored the lone Hornet touchdown on the night. Jonathan Mansker led the Hornets in tackles and accounted for 90 yards of offense. The Hornets are now 1-3 and 1-1 in the West Suburban Gold. JV Hornets JV Football Defeats Addison Trail in 27-0 victory. Defensively, the Hornets had two major interceptions Sophomore Connor Jaffery made a statement with five tackles and a highlight-reel 30-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Sophomore safety “Tyler Koh” class of 27 came up with play making interception that kept the hornets offense on the field.
With the victory, Hinsdale South JV improves to 3-0 on the season. The Hornets will look to carry their momentum into next week’s matchup against willowbrook Monday.
Freshman The freshmen hornets staged one of the bigger comebacks of the season vs Addison Trail on Friday night winning 22-19 for their homecoming game. The game was tied 6-6 at half behind a nice grab from JJ Bodik to Julian Perez. After that the blazers rattled off two scores and the hornets went into the fourth quarter needing a comeback, which they got on back to back possessions, set up by a forced fumble by Tray Rogers which the hornets turned into a score by Jaylen Lee. Hinsdale south tacked on another from Bodik to Berringer to take the lead for good and then held on for the win. The hornets are now 2-2 and 1-0 in conference.
Week 3
Varsity Isiah Burton rushed for 175 yds and 3 Touchdowns while Ben Miller threw 2 TD passes in a win over Conference opponent Proviso East 34-14. Ben Miller also led all tacklers.
JV Hornets JV Football Dominates Proviso East in 27-0 Shutout Victory
The Hinsdale South Hornets junior varsity football team continues on the season with a commanding 27-0 victory over Proviso East on Monday evening. The Hornets set the tone early on offense, controlling the tempo with a powerful ground attack that kept Proviso East on its heels. The running game proved unstoppable, as Hinsdale South found the end zone four times on the ground, led by sophomore Louie Dusek, who powered the offense forward throughout the night.
Defensively, the Hornets were just as dominant. Sophomore Connor Jaffery made a statement with five tackles and a highlight-reel 30-yard interception return for a touchdown, sparking the Hornets to maintain their shutout. The secondary locked down the passing game, while the defensive front swarmed to the ball and eliminated any chance for Proviso East to gain momentum.
With the victory, Hinsdale South JV improves to 2-0 on the season. The Hornets will look to carry their momentum into next week’s matchup against Addison Trail on Monday.
Freshman The freshmen hornets lost a hard fought game to Thornton Fractional South. TFS scored three times in the first quarter and the hornets responded with a nice pass from Bodik to Bills to make it 22-6 at half and that’s the way the game stayed throughout. It was a rain soaked one with multiple turnovers by each side but TFS made fewer mistakes by enough of a margin to pull it off. The hornets are 1-2 on the young season.
Week 2
Varsity The hornets battled the injury bug in a 41-20 loss. Senior Lamarius Moore had 2 receiving touchdowns and Sophomore Jack Barry lead the team in tackles with 11.
JV The Hinsdale South Hornets junior varsity football team continued their winning start to the season with a commanding 34-12 victory over Riverside Brookfield on Monday evening.
Quarterback Ben Miller powered the Hornets’ offense, throwing for two touchdowns and adding another on the ground as he dictated the game’s tempo. The offensive unit consistently moved the ball, keeping Riverside Brookfield’s defense on its heels throughout the contest.
On the defensive side, Marshawn Wilson recorded 8+ tackles. The Hornets were just as dominant. They swarmed to the ball, shutting down Riverside Brookfield’s rushing attack and forcing the Bulldogs to rely on the passing game. The secondary held firm, breaking up passes and forcing multiple punts to keep the pressure on.
The Hornets will look to extend their unbeaten streak when they face Proviso East next Monday.
Freshman The Freshmen hornets dominated from start to finish at Riverside-Brookfield on Friday night by a score of 26-0. This was the second consecutive game where the hornets scored a safety in the shutout. In addition, newcomer Jaylen Lee scored his first TD of the season and quarterback JJ Bodik completed several passes to Julian Perez who figures to be a favorite target this year. Another score by Tray Rogers completed the offensive trifecta. The hornets are 1-1 on the season and 0-0 in conference.
Week 1
Varsity The Hornets struggled to stop Wauconda's ground game in a 44-26 loss. Senior Quarterback Jackson Schulyer was 8-13 for 222 yards and 4 Touchdowns. Doente Jett had 3 receiving touchdowns and Olijah Chrisman had a receiving touchdown. Sophomore Nathan Navarro lead the team with 7 tackles and Al Amir Almanani had 6.
Freshman The Freshmen hornets dropped their first game of the season to Leo by a score of 34-10. The final doesn’t really tell the tale on this one as the score was 12-8 at halftime. JJ Bodik threw a couple picks but also several dimes, one of which resulted in a touchdown to Julian Perez. A couple turnovers, one in the red zone for a touchdown killed the momentum in the second half. The hornets are 0-1 overall and 0-0 in conference.
