Varsity We came out strong in a 62-35 win vs Morton on their homecoming. Multiple players scored to achieve such a high point total. Morton ran a power iso scheme that we were not able to adjust to that allowed the denial of a running clock. The future looks bright because of freshman’s sophomore levels.
Sophomore The sophomore hornets end of their season with an impressive, 7-2 record, defeating the Mustangs of Morton high school 35 - 14. This was an impressive victory which sealed a conference championship record as well. Nick Miller let the charge with a rushing touchdown. Dave Allen helped with a defensive scoop and score for a touchdown and a receiving touchdown. Mutazz Shahbain and Jonathon Mansker both also saw the endzone. The defense was stellar being led by Franklin Heaney, Daniel Orosco, and Nick Buzek lead the charge upfront Paul DelMedico and Frank Waitkus stopped the run with impressive tackling. Davon Allen, Isaiah Scanlan, and Mutazz Shahbain all contributed strong defensive stops in the passing game. The entire sophomore team was able to contribute to the winning effort throughout the game. The sophomore coaching staff would like to thank all of the sophomores who played this season who gave their time and they want to express how proud they are of all of you.
Freshman Everyone scored for the hornets this Saturday as the freshmen put a bow on a great season by defeating Morton high school 58-0. This game also featured the first defensive score of the season by Kaiden McPherson who ran back a pick 6 from mid field. Hinsdale South finishes the 2024 season at 5-1 in conference and 7-2 overall.
Week 8
Varsity The Hornets were part of the DGN homecoming and the 20th anniversary of their football state championship. We knew we were in for a battle with a bigger school that was in the state championship last year. We gave it our best despite being shorthanded. Our hopes are still alive but we need to defeat Morton this upcoming Friday for a shot at getting into the playoffs.
Sophomore Well, the Hornets suffered their second defeat of the season; falling to Downers Grove North 48-14. The mountain was just too high to climb over and overcome. However, in this David vs Goliath matchup, the Hornets showed no signs of quit. Ben Miller led the offense with some swifty moves and dart passes. Mutazz Shahbain and Davon Allen both scored touchdowns. Paul Del Medico was targeted on passes multiple times to give the Hornets shots at the endzone. The defense was outmatched, unfortunately, but Frank Waitkus and Nick Buzek led the defense to make positive defensive plays. The Hornets play their final game of the season next week against Morton.
Freshman The freshmen hornets got beat pretty good on Saturday, losing to Downers Grove North 49-0. Hinsdale South stood its ground the best it could but ultimately got overwhelmed by a larger school. The Hornets are currently 6-2 and look to finish strong as they take on Morton on Saturday.
Week 7
Varsity The Hornets came through big vs Proviso East on our senior night. The final score was 53-7 and there was a running clock for almost the entire second half. The offense scored TD's 7 times and the defense forced two safeties to get another WSC Gold conference win. Langston Love did a great job of extending plays and Apollo Cobb and Mikey Jefferson did a nice Job of running the ball behind a dominant offensive line. Grant Dietrich and Matt Jaffrey anchored a touch defensive outing. Ayden Farrare had some great grabs at receiver and Aiden LaPat was perfect on his PAT attempts with 7. We travel to DGN to take on a top ranked team this week on Friday.
Sophomore The Sophomore Hornets played their final home game against the Pirates of Proviso East. The offense was clicking and scored decisively on their offensive possession. The Miller brothers, Mutazz Shahbain, Davon Allen, all contributed touchdowns to get the Hornets leading 21-0. The Hornets defense was caught sleeping unfortunately when the Pirates scored twice before halftime; making the score 21-14. Enough was enough and Hornets were like a sleeping giant awoken and made sure that the Pirates would not score again. The defense was led by Nick Buzek with 6 sacks. The Hornets defeated the Pirates 41-14. The next big test of the Hornets will be against Downers Grove North.
Freshman The freshmen hornets improved to 6-1 winning the rubber match against Harlem Rockford 22-16 on Saturday. After falling behind two scores at half, Hinsdale South dominated the rest of the game, scoring two unanswered scores behind the running of a stellar offensive line and Navarro and Barry. Louis Dusek and Connor Jaffery also made important plays down the stretch and a fourth down tackle by Schutz all but sealed the deal. The hornets are 6-1 overall and 4-1 in conference going into next Saturday’s tilt with downers grove north.
Week 6
Varsity The varsity team battled until the very end and we could not be more proud of their efforts to regain the cannon. The score was tied 14-14 at halftime to the surprise of many DGS fans and we marched down the field and attempted a game tying field goal to end the game that was no good. Unfortunately the end result was a 31-28 loss at DGS. Langston Love led the way at QB with 226 yards passing and 46 yards rushing. He made plays under pressure and kept drives alive. Ayden Farrare led the receiving core with 118 yards. Daxton Michaels had 7 receptions for 118 yards. The rushing attack gained 124 yards behind the efforts of Apollo Cobb and Mikey Jefferson. The Hornets outgained DGS in both the run and pass game. This could not have been accomplished without the selfless efforts of the offensive line. Ryden McMurray, Luke Brossard, Cole Rehfeldt, Quin Yurkovich, Frederick Finnegan and TE Matt Jaffrey did an outstanding job. The defense was hard hitting all night but due to some key penalties DGS drives were kept alive. Tommy Madden, Matt Jaffrey and Grant Diedrich came through with big hits and Jackson Schuyler had a key interception. We take on Proviso East this Friday and have our senior night.
Sophomore If you wanted drama of epic proportions, you got it with a huge monumental victory for the Sophomore Hornets against their conference rival, Downers Grove South. With conference on the line, the Sophomore Hornets were swarming all around the Mustangs. Nick Miller bulldozed his way through the Mustang defense scoring 2 touchdowns. Davon Allen wanted in on the TDs scoring his own rushing touchdown. Olijah Christman turned on the jets and trusted his blockers giving him a kick off return to the house. The Mustangs did not go quietly after being down at halftime 20-7, as they fought back making the score 28-27. The defense made the play of the year by stuffing the Mustang’s final 2 point conversion just short of the goal line. The Sophomore Hornets milked the clock to secure a very hard fought and deserving victory. The next game is the final home game against Proviso East.
Freshman This was a tough one for the freshmen hornets who lost 36-6 against their rivals Downers Grove South on Saturday. It was close for a half after a nice touchdown pass from Navarro to Dusek put the hornets within one score 13-6. But eventually the DGS size took its toll and wore down the undersized hornets. Hinsdale South is now 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference.
Week 5
Varsity The team had a great week of practice but due to injuries and depth they were not able to overcome the adverse situations throughout the game. The final score was Hinsdale South 7 Willowbrook 45. The Hornets will look to rebound this week as we take on DGS for the cannon!
Sophomore All good things must come to an end. The sophomore Hornets unfortunately had their winning and undefeated streak ended on Homecoming Night. The game itself, was emotional; maybe even main event like. Ben Miller, Brady Miller, Nick Miller, Jonathon Mansker, and the whole offense fought valiantly and with resolve. Connecting on bread and butter plays, and even fancy, unexpected plays to breathe hope into the team. The defense held their own, making crucial key stops to keep the Hornets in the game. Unfortunately, the Football Fates were not on the side of the Hornets as they fell to Willowbrook 35-27. The Sophomore Hornets are still in contention for conference title as they face their rival this week…Downers Grove South.
Freshman The freshmen hornets remained undefeated at 5-0 at home on Saturday in a hard fought, rainy game 24-14. Once again Navarro came up with big plays in this one and the Hinsdale south run game proved too much for the visiting warriors. The defense also forced 3 turnovers in the effort- including and interception that sealed it in the fourth quarter. Hinsdale south is 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in conference.
Week 4
Varsity The Hornets had opportunities but came up short vs Addison Trail Friday in Addison 21-28. It was a hot game and they opened the game with a long scoring drive. The Hornets responded by scoring 21 in the second quarter but with a couple minutes left in the half AT responded with a kickoff return for a touchdown to cut the lead to 21-13 after a missed PAT due to a penalty. The second half was detailed by some penalties and negative plays that forced the Hornets to come up short after AT was able to move the ball down the field and score. We take on Willowbrook this week to continue conference play.
Sophomore The sophomore Hornets completed dominated the Blazers of Addison Trail. After waiting more than a week to play, the Hornets were a force to be reckoned with. The defense was unstoppable, not allowing a single touchdown to be scored. Great defensive effort from all levels: the defense line for holding their own in the trenches, the linebackers for causing chaos in the backfield sacking the opposing QB and cashing in on a forced fumble, and the defensive backs for not allow in deep passes to be completed. Quarterback Ben Miller was LIGHTS OUT throwing for several touchdowns to multiple receivers, the most impressive one was thrown to brother Brady Miller who made the defender pay for standing in his way; bulldozing over him. TE Nick Buzek also got into the touchdown party, scoring yet another touchdown catch. RBs Davin Allen and Antonin Bingham both scored rushing touchdowns, slicing and dicing the defense. The Hornets won 47-0. The Hornets next challenge will be against Willowbrook High School.
Freshman The freshmen hornets were tested early in this one, falling behind 8-0 for the first time on the season. But they found their wind after that scoring repeatedly behind the best offensive line in the conference. Nathan Navarro scored half a dozen times in this one, including rushing, passing, and on a kick return. The Hinsdale South defense bent but didn’t break and the score ended at 50-28 in favor of the hornets, who are now 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference.
Week 3
Varsity The Hornets defeated Leyden Friday 38-0 and the defense earned donuts for the shutout to open WSC Gold conference play. THe offense continued to click behind 3 passing TD's by Langston Love. WR Ayden Farrare was the recipient of 2 TD's. Nick Ockrim, and Isaiah Burton also found there way to the endzone. Grant Diedrich, Mikey Jefferson and Apollo Cobb all found some quality yards on the ground. The defensive effort was led by big hits from Grant Diedrich, Amir Almannai, Matt Jaffrey and Tommy Madden. Jimmy Martin and Aiden LaPat were both solid in the kicking game. We take on AT this friday away. Sophomore It was definitely a Friday the 13th type of night for the Sophomore Hornets. After overcoming adversity and variables, the Sophomore Hornets defeated Leyden High School in decisive fashion. The game was slow to start out as both teams were getting their feet wet in the first quarter. The defense was a formidable force led by Jonathan Mansker and Frank Waitkus. Ben Miller led the charge with the offensive line throwing for multiple touchdowns and doing his best Patrick MaHomes impression. Milos Kasapovic nailed the final nail by scoring the 40th point, giving the Sophomore Hornets a running clock to end the game. The final score: Hornets 40 Leyden - 6
Freshman The freshmen hornets won once again in convincing fashion on Saturday 32-12 over the Leyden Eagles. Leyden came in undefeated in this one but the hornets showed them what a real undefeated team is all about, scoring for several TDs on the ground behind the big line of Kirkendall, Smith, Sheehan, Laz, and Perez. The hornets are now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference.

Team Stats Total Yards HS 476 RB 251 Pass HS 201 RB 120 Run HS 275 RB 131
The defense battled all night with great efforts by Matt Jaffrey, Isaiah Burton and Broussard. It was a full team effort and we take on Leyden Friday in our first conference game at home.
Sophomore The Sophomore Hornets had their home opener against the formidable Riverside Brookfield. Both teams were dominating until RB struck first with their first touchdown of the game. The Hornets, however, responded with a touchdown of their own with a Miller combo (QB Ben Miller and RB Brady Miller) tying the game up at 7-7. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs struck back quickly with a Kickoff return for a touchdown. QB Ben Miller said enough was enough and led the offense to another touchdown, which he scored on his own. The defense would follow suit led my Frank Waitkus and Jonathon Mansker, who were both missiles disrupting the offensive plan of the Bulldogs. Jason Jude III would slice and dice his way down field making RB’s defenders miss and worked for every yard. Along with his defense awareness, Milos Kasapovic contributed 5 for 6 PAT kicks to help the Hornets earn a 48-22 victory. The Hornets are now 2-0 on the season with their home conference opener against Leyden next week.
Freshman The freshman hornets kept their season rolling on Saturday morning against the bulldogs of Riverside Brookfield with a convincing 44-0 victory. Several hornets scored in this one including Navarro,Barry, and Christman- who continue to roll on offense. The defense also pitched the first shutout of this early season while forcing several turnovers and recovering an onside kick. Hinsdale South is 2-0 and 0-0 in conference with its first conference game vs Leyden coming up in a week.
Week 1
Varsity The Hornets went on the road to Wauconda for week 1. The bulldogs proved to be a challenge and we were defeated 44-34 by a consistent playoff team. Wauconda racked up over 400 yards on the ground but the hornets answered with over 400 yards of total offense in a balanced attack led by QB Langston Love. Other standout performers were Ryder McMurry on the line with Ayden Farare Nick Okrim and Mikey Jefferson making some tremendous offensive plays. We host Riverside Brookfield in our home opener this Friday.
Sophomore The Sophomore Hornets football team traveled to Wauconda High School to open the 2024-2025 football season. The Sophomore team overcame many obstacles in their first game to earn a 19-13 victory. The sophomore offensive and defensive linemen (David Gaibu, Brody Chowaniec, Frank Waitkus, Leon Gonzalez, and J’Mar Pittman for the offense and Milos Kasapovic, Daniel Orozco, and Nick Buzek for the defense) were an unstoppable force. They opened up holes for defensive linebackers to make plays in the backfield, and also opened up lanes for Quarterback Ben Miller, the runnings backs, and receivers. After a hard fought game, the Hornets emerged victorious. Freshman The freshmen hornets started the 2024 season off right with a convincing 52-6 thumping of Oak Forest on Thursday night. There was a lot to celebrate in this one as the hornets forced a couple turnovers in the contest, with offensive scores by Navarro, Christman, Barry, and Schutz- all on the ground. The Hornets will look to build on this strong running game next week at home against Riverside-Brookfield. The Hornets are 1-0 on the season and 0-0 in conference.
