Once again the lead changed hands a couple of times during the contest when Andrew took the lead with 1min 30 sec left in the game. A well executed two minute offense resulted in a deep completion to Trae Burke, before Nathan Fundator once again scored from the 5 yard line to put the hornets up by 6. Week 4 vs. Wheaton Academy
Varsity Hinsdale South traveled to Wheaton Academy Friday after Proviso East canceled the scheduled game. The hornets were in a tough battle for most of the game. The defense held solid and forced many turnovers allowing for a 10-0 halftime deficit. The game opened up late because the hornets got worn down and many younger players had an opportunity to play because so many starters were down. The end result was a loss but many lessons were learned. Sophomore Griffin Car led the defense with many QB pressures and big plays. We travel to Addison Trail to get back into conference play this Friday.
Freshman vs. Hinsdale Central The hornets came to play on Saturday morning with a convincing 42-0 win over Hinsdale Central. South executed well on all sides of the ball, scoring several TDs both running and passing. Trae Burke had over 100 yards receiving and QB Matt Ballard ran for a score and threw for a couple. Nick Jason also threw for one. The defense was stifling where many hornets made big plays at the right times. The hornets are now 3-1 on the season.

Offensively Khamani Williams was the player of the game by fighting for tough yards all night. Christian Cloutier earned the special teams player of the game by making perfect snaps all night.

We jumped up early with key plays by QB Donny Lowdermilk and Jaylon Smith. Additionally, Luke Terrell had key catches for TD’s as Jaylon Steel and Khamani Williams ran the ball effectively all night. Our defense bent a bit but did not break securing the victory. It was a huge win at home demonstrating south pride.

That play was from Matt Ballard to Nathan Fundator and went for 65 yards. HS is now 1-1 on this unusual season.
Week 1 vs. York
Varsity Hinsdale South started the spring season with home game vs York after Morton forfeited due to covid. Early in the game we were very competitive despite turning the ball over on 2 of the first 3 drives. York eventually took control and won the game by wearing us down and not making mistakes.
