Sophomore Playing a Saturday morning game after a weather delay on Friday, the Sophomore Hornet football team met Willowbrook high school at our home field. Big plays were the Achilles heel of the Hornets as we gave up a number of turnovers and a few long passes, making the 8-33 final score seem like an inaccurate summary of the loss. An outstanding effort was given by a number of our athletes, especially on the offensive side of the ball. We also saw vast improvement and some increased playing time for a few defensive players!

The offensive unit continued to move the football consistently, as they had through the first 2 games. The defense shutout DGS through the first and third quarters, but gave up a few big plays leading to three touchdowns in the second quarter. Down 22-0 at halftime, the team refused to stop competing and instead came out, drove the length of the field and scored on the first drive of the third quarter. Some untimely mistakes, including turnovers, prevented the Hornets from closing the gap further, but the team finished the game competing very hard.
The team looks forward to coming back home next week and competing against Willowbrook!

Sophomore Destin Talbert stepped up and made a name for himself with some quality plays in critical situations. Marco Ristic kicked a field goal and converted on all point after attempts. We look forward to starting WSC gold conference play this week vs DGS.
Sophomore The Hornet Sophomore Football team took a difficult loss to Glenbard West on Saturday by a score of 54-6. Our offense was able to move the ball with consistency throughout the game, but struggled to finish drives and secure the football. Defensively, we had a very difficult time stopping a balanced Glenbard West offense.
Some of the positive elements we were able to take from the contest include: tremendous effort by our 2-way players especially, positive leadership from within the team, valuable playing time for some of our less experienced athletes, and relatively minor injuries for either team.
We are excited to learn from our successes and mistakes, and look forward to preparing for DGS next Friday!
Freshman The freshman B team lost a tough one to Glenbard West 56-0 and will look to bounce back against DGS this week. Sophomore Opening week of football competition was an exciting week for all levels, and the sophomore team was no exception. A very efficient week of practice led up to our first competition against Romeoville High School on Friday the 28th. We started the game a little slowly, giving up two touchdowns in the first half. Our team picked up the intensity and made adjustments well in the second half, holding Romeoville’s offense scoreless, forcing a safety and scoring an offensive touchdown to make the score 8-13 in the 4th quarter. The team competed fiercely the entire game and had an opportunity late in the 4th quarter to score a winning touchdown, but, unfortunately, came up just short. The team is excited about the progress made through the game and their potential as we move forward!! GO HORNETS! - Coach Bobby O’Brien Freshman The freshmen hornets pulled off a dramatic last minute win against Romeoville with a goaline stand that gave Hinsdale South the victory 15-8.
