IDTA Category Championship in Springfield: Saturday, February 15
IDTA Category Championship was a huge success for Hornet Danceline. Varsity was the High Score Grand Champions for their “Lady Gaga” Pom-Dance Routine. Varsity brought home state championships in AAA Pom-Dance as well as AAA Kick. Varsity also competed for the first time ever in the Jazz Category and placed 4th. Junior Varsity Placed First in the JV Pom-Dance Category.
IDTA Hononegah: Saturday, February 8
At Hononegah Varsity debuted their kick routine “Every time we touch” in attempts to qualify for IDTA Category Championship. All routines received first place and a qualifying score.
IHSA STATE in Bloomington/Normal: Friday, January 31, Saturday, Feb. 1 Varsity Competed in the IHSA State competition for the 8th consecutive year since the start of IHSA Dance in 2013. Hinsdale South is one of SIX 2A schools in the state of Illinois to qualify every year (Crystal Lake Central, Fenton, Hinsdale South, Libertyville, Lincoln-Way West, and Mundelein). Varsity fell short of making Day 2 and placed 17th much to our surprise and disappointment regarding inconsistencies throughout the tournament when compared to rankings/scores throughout the season and sectionals.

IHSA WSC Conference at Hinsdale South: Monday, January 20 (MLK)
The third annual WSC Championship was held at Hinsdale South for the second year in a row. Hinsdale South continues to hold their own despite being one of the only AA teams among a Conference of AAA teams.

This was the first time Hornet Danceline attended Lockport. It was a frustrating day for varsity, as scores didn’t align with our own predictions (Varsity Pom was just ahead of Varsity Jazz by less than one point- normally it’s a 10 point gap)!!!
