Hinsdale South placed First in the Pom Category with their “Summer Time” themed routine - naming them the 2016 Pom State Champions. This makes for the team’s 7th IDTA State Championship Title (2013: Pom & Kick, 2012: Pom & Kick, 2011: Pom, 2010: Pom). The team also placed Third in the Kick Category with their “Love” themed routine. Congratulations to all dancers on an outstanding season!
Saturday, February 6 - IDTA Regional
Following IHSA Dance State, Hornet Danceline turns its attention to IDTA Competitions. Illinois Drill Team Association has a 38 year tradition of competitive dance in Illinois. Although IHSA operates as a team all-around competition, IDTA provides a competition framework in individual categories such as Pom, Kick, Lyrical, Hip Hop, etc.
On Saturday, February 6 Danceline Competed in the IDTA Hononegah High School Invitational. Varsity Pom placed First. Varsity Kick placed First; and Junior Varsity Pom Dance placed First. All three routines received scores that qualified them for the Category State Championships to be held in Springfield, IL on Saturday, February 13.
With over 45 routines throughout the day the Varsity Kick Routine scored the Overall Highest Score (90.1). The Junior Varsity team also received the highest JV score of the day.
Senior Captain: Skyler Invie was selected as an IDTA “Rising Star” for her outstanding performance in the Varsity Kick Routine. Congratulations to Skyler and all Danceline members on a successful weekend.
Friday, January 29 - IHSA Dance State Competition
Hornet Danceline competed in the 4th Annual IHSA Dance State competition on Friday, January 29. Hornet Danceline has had the honor of qualifying for state every year since the development of IHSA Dance. On day one of competition- 30 teams from around the state compete for placement in the Top 10 Finals. Although the team had an outstanding performance they fell short of qualifying for the Top 10 and did not advance to Day 2 of Competition.
Although disappointed by the outcome of IHSA State, the team continues to prepare for the State Category Championships which take place on February 13, in Springfield, Illinois. Unlike IHSA, which doesn’t use categories (all genres of dance compete against each other); the Category Championships separates teams into specific dance genres. Hinsdale South Danceline has a long tradition of competing in the 2A Pom and Kick Categories. Best of Luck to our girls as they continue their competitive season.
Saturday, January 23 - IHSA Sectional @ Andrew High School
On Saturday, January 23 Danceline competed at Andrew High School in Tinley Park in the IHSA Dance Sectionals. There are six sectional locations throughout the state. In order to advance to state, a team must place in the top SIX at their assigned sectional location. Hornet Danceline placed Fifth out of 16 teams; which advanced them to the IHSA Dance State Competition. At State they will compete with 30 other qualifying dance teams from around the State.
