Junior Varsity: Junior Varsity grew so much during the 2019-2020 season. As freshman none of the girls have ever competed before and with a year under their belt, they were ready to compete! Their dedication and drive made them successful. JV took home their first trophy of the year at their first competition at Buffalo Grove, 6th place! In 2018-2019 they took 7th so it was very exciting to improve and start the year positive! We added new skills to the team including tumbling and stunts making every competition more exciting. Conference, hosting at home, was the best. Junior Varsity took 5th place and got their name announced. The excitement, the screams, and the smiles made all the hard work worth it. The girls worked so hard and earned that victory! We had a great season and can’t wait to see what is in store for 2020-2021!
Varsity: The 2019-2020 season will be one we won’t forget. We had a lot of fun cheering for the football team and the basketball team that was unbeatable. The energy in the gym is something the cheerleaders will never forget. School spirit felt alive and our team bonded more than ever. In the beginning of the season we had a major injury that had one of our rock star flyers out for over 10 weeks. It was a hard adjustment but the team worked together and killed their first competition at Buffalo Grove. We had a junior step in a fly for her first time in high school and really gave it her all. A few weeks later our flyer was back, able to compete but then another flyer hurt her ankle. We had challenges thrown our way but overcame all of them as a team. Since both coaches are alumni Hinsdale South Cheerleaders, building the program, being successful, and cheerleaders having fun is what we want the most. We work hard, conditioned every single practice but it paid off. The girls scored 10 points higher at competitions this season than the previous year, 10 points!!! Every competition we improved and really focused on the successes rather than the hardships. We had a lot to overcome this season as a team and we did it. We didn’t end the season how we wanted but also look back at all the amazing memories we made. We are looking forward to the 2020-2021 competition season with focus on sharp, clean, motions!
