Tuesday, March 3rd On Tuesday March 3rd boy's track team hosted the invitation only, Hornet Quad. The meet has grown so much in popularity that it was extended by over an hour. Special thanks should be given to Coach Norman for accommodating such a large contest. The Hornets were led by multiple athletes who performed at a high level.

Saturday, February 29th The Hornets competed on 2/29 at the Proviso West Invitational. Joshua Nwonye took 6th place in high jump with a jump of 5’8”. In addition on varsity we had Jayden Arquines take 4th place in the 600. PR’s on the varsity came from Jake Shilling and Ibrahim Chahin in the 800, Isiah Lashley in the 600, and Quartus Rassi in the 1600. Jayon Steele took 5th place in the f/s 55 and the Hornets also had Nick Angileri take 4th place in the 400 with a PR. The Hornets now look forward to a busy week with a home meet on 3/3 and an away meet on Friday at Batavia. Continued success to the boys team!
Saturday, February 22nd Saturday at Proviso West High School, 19 teams came together for the Greg Foster Invitational. The Hornet had bookend relay victories, winning the first race on the track, the fresh/soph 4X800 relay, and the last race, the varsity 4X400 relay, and had many great performances in between. On the fresh/soph level, Kayden Miller was the star of the meet, anchoring the winning 4X800 team also including Adam Fournier, Aaron Koehler, and Lukas Sekona, overtaking the Oswego East runner in the last lap for a dramatic victory, then winning the 600 meter run several hours later. Adam had an impressive triple, placing 6th with a personal best in the triple jump, and running a personal best in the 1600, and Jaylin Steele scored points in both the 55 and 200 meter dash. At the varsity level, Jayden Arquines was a double winner, winning the 400 meter dash and anchoring the relay team also made up of Jake Hospes, Josh Hargrove, Isiah Lashley, concluding the meet in style. Jake also placed 4th in his first 600 meter race in 2 years, while Eris Golden scored with a big personal best in the long jump and Julian Watson finished 3rd with a personal best in the 3200 meter run. Coach Norman was pleased with the balanced attack, but has stressed continued improvement and not resting on our laurels.
Wednesday, February 19th Coach Norman showed his unwavering commitment to patriotism on Wednesday Feb 19 2020 by having our own hurdler and high jumper, Josh Nwonye, sing the national anthem to start the meet. The meet was unscored and the athletes did well hosting our first home meet of the year. The other teams in attendance included Willowbrook and Leyden. Jake Hospes had the fastest 200 in 24.9, Jaylon Smith had the top low hurdle time of 7.6 and Josh Nwonye high jumped 5’8. Jayden Arquinas and Jake Hospes both recorded a 6.8 in the 55 dash. Our distance runners had a great night too. Our team will continue to improve with hard work and dedication. South
Thursday, February 13th The Hornets opened the season at the prestigious Addison Trail Triangular. While the meet was not scored, South had many athletes put in tremendous performances. The 4x160 relay of Jake Hospes, Josh Hargrove, Jaylen Steele, and Eris Golden took first place. Also finishing first was the 4x800 relay team of Isiah Lashley, Nick Berronio, Julian Watson, and Jayden Arquines. In individual races, Josh Hargove took 1st in the 55, Josh Nwonye 2nd in 55 hurdles, Eris Golden 1st in long jump and triple jump, Jayden Arquines 1st in the 200, and Jake Hospes 2nd in the 400. Coach Norman should be commended for preparing the team for this early meet.
