Week of May 20th Congratulations to Kamron Lipscomb in having an all state weekend at the IHSA boys state track competition. Kamron now has the 2nd farthest triple jump in school history jumping 47-9 3/4 which earned him 2nd place in Class 3A. Kamron took 7 jumps this past weekend and every jump was farther than his sectional personal best.
Week of May 13th Congratulations to Kamron Lipscomb for advancing to state in the triple jump. Kamron popped out a PR of 45-6 ½ on his final attempt to advance to this weekends boys state track meet in Charleston at Eastern Illinois University. Kamron will compete in the prelims on Friday. Good luck Kamron!!!
Week of May 9th The Hornets competed very well once again in conference as they took 2nd place at the West Suburban Gold Conference Meet. The Hornets were led in many events. 200 meter dash Josh Hargrove 2nd place 800 meter dash Jayden Arquines 2nd place 110 High Hurdles Jaylon Smith 2nd place 300 Hurdles Justin Davis 1st place 400 Dash Uche Obasi 1st place Long Jump Kamron Lipscomb 2nd place and 1st place triple jump 4x400 Relay Uche Obasi, Justin Davis, Jacob Hospes, Jayden Arquines 1st place
Week of April 29th The Boys track team competed at the 13 team McCarthy Invitational on May 3rd. They took 7th overall. Taking 6th in the 110 and 5th in the 300 hurdles was Sophomore Jaylon Smith. 2nd place honors went to our 4x400 relay of Justin Davis, Uche Obasi, Jake Hospes, and Jayden Arquines. 1st place honors went to Kamron Lipscomb in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump. The Hornets now look forward to hosting this Thursday’s conference meet.
Week of April 22nd The Hornets just completed a non scoring quad against Addison Trail, Morton, and Marmion Academy. This was a perfect team tune up for this Friday’s Mike Yavorski Invitational. This Friday is also senior night and we will be acknowledging all of our seniors and their parents at 4:30pm. Field events start at 5:00pm and running events go at 5:30pm.
The Hornets competed April 26th in the Mike Yavorski Invitational and took 2nd place to Bloomington. The Hornets finished ahead of Glenbard North, Benet, Glenbard East, Montini, and Lemont. Josh Hargrove did very well taking 1st in the 200, 4th in the 100, and showing extreme toughness coming back to run in the 4x4. Jayden Arquines took 1st in the 400 and Julian Watson placed 3rd in the 1600. Taking 2nd in the 110 and 300 hurdles was Jaylon Smith. The 4x100 relay received 2nd place honors and was run by Jake Hospes, Josh Hargrove, Kamron Lipscomb, and Justin Davis. Others contributing to the Hornets point total were Lucas Pitonak taking 4th in the shot and 3rd in the discus. Rounding out the scoring for the Hornets was Kamron Lipscomb who took 1st in the long and triple jump.
Week of April 8th The Hornets competed Tuesday, April 9th against LT and DGN in LaGrange in a non scoring triangular. There were many solid 400 times coming from Uche Obasi, Justin Davis, Jaylon Smith, and Isiah Lashley. Julian Watson ran a very good 1600 and Jaylon Smith posted another strong 110 hurdle time. The Hornets look forward to this Saturday’s invite at DGS.
The boys competed this past sat at the Bud Mohns Invitational at Downers Grove South this past weekend. Scoring the most points on the soph level was Eris Golden who took 4th in the long jump and 6th in the triple jump. The Hornets varsity started strong with a 2nd place 4x800 relay run by Uche Obasi, Isiah Lashley, Julian Watson, and Jayden Arquines. In addition, Obasi took 3rd in the 200 and Arquines took 6th. Rounding out the scoring was Kamron Lipscomb taking 2nd in triple jump and 3rd in long jump.
Week of March 18th The Freshman Hornets hosted an invitational Tuesday, March 19th and placed 3rd overall as a team. The team was led by Luke Sadowski who placed in the 55, 200, High Jump and the 4x160 relay. Jaylin Steele placed in the 55, 200, and the 4x160. Quartus Rassi placed in the 3200 and 600. Placing in the 800 and 1600 was Gustavo Botero and Jibriel Khalil took 4th in the shot. rounding out the scoring was Deon Bomar taking 1st in the 600 and placing on the 4x160 relay.
Week of March 11th The following boys were all conference in the WSC Indoor track Meet on Friday, March 15th. Week of February 25th The Hornets competed at Batavia and took 5th place in their invitational. They were led by a 2nd place 4x4 team consisting of Jayden Arquines, Uche Obassi, Jacob Hospes, and Justin Davis in running a school pr this year and current 7th best in 3a. Kamron Lipscomb took 3rd in the triple jump and Julian Watson took 3rd in the 3200.
Week of February 18th A new school record was set today at the Proviso West Invitational in the 600 by junior Jayden Arquines running 1:24.88. He looked very strong the entire race!!!! This performance took 2nd place. Other medalist winners were Kamron Lipscomb taking 6th in both the long and triple jump. Another 6th place finish came from Lucas Pitonak in the shot. On the f/s level strong performances came from Julian Watson taking 4th in the 1600, OJ Jackson taking 3rd in the shot, Jacob Hospes taking 4th in the 400, and Eris Golden placing in the triple jump. Next meet this Tuesday at home vs Glenbard East, Evergreen Park, and Westmont.
Week of February 11th The Hornets competed in their first home meet tonight and did very well against Willowbrook, Leyden, and Taft. All events were well represented and the team showed overall improvement from week 1. This Saturday marks the first meet on a 200 meter track in Hillside competing in the Greg Foster invite. This will be a challenging meet and one the boys track team is looking forward to competing in.
Week of February 4th The Hornets competed very well in their 1st meet of the year, against Addison Trail and Oswego. Justin Davis and Tre Pride tied for the win in the high hurdles, and Justin came back and won the low hurdles as well. Kamron Lipscomb won the long and triple jumps and the 4 X 800 relay teams of Jake Hospes, Isiah Lashley, Uche Obasi, and Jayden Arquines, and Nick Beronio, Max Cazzato, Alex Grindeanu, and Julian Watson went 1-2.
