Thursday, May 10th The Hornets competed at the WSG conference meet and took 2nd on the f/s level and 4th on the varsity level. The following did very well at the varsity level. Jacob Marcus 2nd place in the 100 and 3rd place in the 200. Jayden Arquines 5th place in the 400, Brett Haffner 1st in the 1600, Justin Davis 2nd in the 110 High Hurdles, Traevon Pride 3rd in the 110 High Hurdles, Carmelo Lazzara 1st in the 300 Hurdles, Kurian Joy 5th place in pole vault, 4x100 relay consisting of Jaylen Plaxico, Carmelo Lazzara, Ryan Bergstrom, Jacob Marcus, 3rd place in the 4x800 relay consisting Brett Haffner, Max Cazzato, Alex Grindeanu, and Jayden Arquines, 4x400 relay consisting of Jayden Arquines, Uchechi Obasi, Carmelo Lazzara, Justin Davis and the 4x200 relay consisting of Uchechi Obasi, Ryan Bergstrom, Jaylen Plaxico, Jacob Marcus. At the f/s level the Hornets were led by Lucas Pitonak taking 1st in the disc and shot, Jake Hospes 2nd in the 400 and 3rd in the 100, Nick Beronio 3rd in the 3200, Jaylon Smith 1st in the 300 Hurdles, Eris Golden 2nd in long jump, and Josh Hargrove 1st in the long jump.
Tuesday, May 8th Our freshman competed in the WSG invite and took 4th. Jaylon Smith took 1st in the 110 and the 300 hurdles with convincing wins. He was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team. Jake Hospes took 1st in the 400 and also was part of the winning 4x100 relay along with Julian Watson and Dylan Davis. Hospes also took 4th in the 100 and 5th in the 200. The Hornets move on to their f/s, v conference meet tomorrow at DGS.
Tuesday, May 1st The Hornets completed their home season against DGS, DGN, AT, and Morton. This was an all level that was a fine tune up for conference week that takes place next week. Strong performances came from Isiah Lashley, Sam Laplante, Dylan Davis, Jaylon Smith. Our freshman head to Willowbrook on Tuesday for the freshman invitational and the f/s, v conference will be held at DGS on 5/10(Thursday).
Friday, April 27th Congrats to our boys team this past weekend at the Mike Yavorski Invitational with their 2nd place finish. Leading the way was Carmelo Lazzara in the 300 Hurdles, Jacob Marcus in the 200, and Kamron Lipscomb in the triple jump. The sophomore sprint medley which had Joshua Hargrove, Isiah Lashley, Jayden Arquines, and Josh Baron also took 1st place. Arquines also had a great 4x800 split running 2:04. Friday, April 20th Athletes earning awards at the very competitive 18 team Bob Cohoon Invitational were Carmelo Lazzara in the 300 Hurdles, Jacob Marcus in the 200, and Kamron Lipscomb in the triple jump. Next week the Hornets host a tues meet and on Friday the Mike Yavorski Invitational
Tuesday, April 10th The Hornets finally were able to have an outdoor meet as they traveled to Downers Grove North to compete with them and Lyons Township. This was a non scoring meet that had many fine performances. Winners for South were junior Jacob Marcus in the 100 and 200, soph Jayden Arquines in the 400, senior Carmelo Lazzara in the 300 Hurdles. Other strong performances came from Max Cazzato in the 1600(getting a PR by 19 sec, Antonio Garcia in the 800, Justin Davis in both varsity hurdle races and Jaylon Smith on the frosh/soph level in both hurdle races. This Saturday the Hornets travel to DGS for a 8 team invite at both the f/s level and varsity. Good luck!
Tuesday, March 20th The Hornets took 3rd place in their Freshman Invitational. Leading the way were Jaylon Smith who took 1st place in the 55 Low and High Hurdles. In addition Jaylon won the 200 meter dash. Adding to the scoring with 2 more 1st place finishes was Jake Hospes who won the 55 and 400 meter dashes. Other strong performances came from Gavin Dudley, Omari Jackson, Calvin Jenkins, and Dylan Davis. Great work boys!!
Saturday, March 17th The Hornets took 2nd place on Varsity and 3rd on the f/s level at this weekends West Suburban Gold Conference Meet. Earning all conference honors were the following....1st place 4x200 Jaylen Plaxico, Jacob Marcus, Carmelo Lazzara, Kamron Lipscomb 1st place 200 Jaylen Plaxico, 1st place 55 Low Hurdles Carmelo Lazzara 2nd place 3200 Brett Haffner, 2nd place high jump Terrill McCray,2nd place 55 High Hurdles Carmelo Lazzara, 2nd place 55 dash Jacob Marcus, 2nd place 200 Jacob Marcus, 2nd place triple jump Kamron Lipscomb. Friday, March 16th The west suburban gold conference pole vault competition took place today at Morton high school. Scoring points for the Hornets on varsity were Noah Charters taking 6th place and Kurian Joy taking 5th place. Congratulations to both athletes. The rest of the track and field competition takes place Saturday at Proviso West at 9:30 am.

The Hornets competed well in the last home f/s, v meet this past Friday against the mustangs from DGS. Quentin Fields had a huge PR in the shot put throwing over 48 feet as a sophomore. This was a great tune up as the Hornets are looking forward to competing this Saturday at Proviso West in the WSG conference championship. Good luck to the boys this weekend!
Friday, March 2nd
The boys track and field team took 5th place at the Coach D invitational in Batavia. Field event proved to be a strength with Carmelo Lazzara taking 4th in long jump with a PR. Taking 5th in long, 3rd in High jump and 2nd in triple jump was Kamron Lipscomb. PR's also came from Kenton Brookins in the triple and Kurian Joy in the pole vault. 1st place honors go to Brett Haffner in the 1600. In addition Jayden Arquines and J. Plaxico took 3rd in their races.
Tuesday, February 27th
The Hornets hosted a quad tonight against Glenbard East, Evergreen Park, and Westmont. This was a meet just for time and South had strong performances in the distance from Tim Rudolph(winning the 3200) and Tanner Booth taking 3rd with a PR in the 1600. Looking forward, the Hornets travel to Batavia Friday night to compete in the Coach DiDomenico Invitational. Other teams competing in the field are Lake Park, Kaneland, Burlington Central, Bartlett, West Aurora, and Minooka. Good luck!!
Saturday, February 24th
The Hornets competed in the very strong 53rd annual Proviso West classic finishing near the middle of the pack. Individuals that helped the Hornets in scoring were Jayden Arquines, Quentin Fields, and Kamron Lipscomb. Lucas Pitonak took 2nd place in the shot at the f/s level. Other athletes with strong performances were Carmelo Lazzara, Brett Haffner, Jacob Marcus, and J. Plaxico.

The Hornets started out with a strong performance in their first home meet against WB, Leyden, and Proviso East. Leading the way were Carmelo Lazzara, Brett Haffner, Jacob Marcus, and Quentin Brookins. The Hornets compete this Saturday at Proviso West in a very competitive invitational.
