Lukas Isberg played great defense to help the Hornets end the game in a 1-1 tie.
Freshman We started off the week at York High School. We came into the game with the intention to pressure the whole game and not letting them have much possession of the ball. Jorge and Aryan did a great job making sure they were on the other team’s forwards before they even received the ball. Adam Krupa and Jake Hospes kept the defense organized while Allen Kozlicka and Ben Bush did the same of the midfielders. We limited the number of chances that Morton was able to create. With about 3 minutes left in the first half, one of our defenders slipped which led to a counterattack for Morton and they were able to take the lead. Adi Patel had a great header from a corner kick but the opposing goalie made a terrific save and denied us the goal. Since we were looking for the goal and pressing high on the field Leyden caught us with long balls and scored a few more goals in the 2nd half finishing the game 0-7 for Leyden.

Week of September 9th
Varsity Addison vs Hornets Score 6:1 Varsity boys soccer team played away against Addison Trail. Even play thru first 20 minutes of them game with both teams creating couple chances but coming up empty at the end. Addison would score with 10 minutes left in the first half from corner kick and Addison scores in last minutes of the first half to make it 2:0. Poor defensive clearances from hornets allows Addison to take a 2:0 lead into halftime. Hornets halftime tactical decision was that if they scored within 5 minutes they would close off and hit Addison on counter attack. With second half underway hornets free kick sets up Adam to flicks the ball over the keeper and cuts lead to 1 and gives them the perfect opportunity to execute their halftime decision. 20 minutes into the second half and hornets game plan is looking good. Addison keeps on attacking but with little effect. Hornets put too many players into counter attack and left defense vulnerable and Addison scored to take a commanding lead of 3:1. All or nothing attempt by hornets leads Addison to score their 4th goal of the match. With game in hand hornets rest some of their starters and fall to Addison with the score of 6:1.
Hornets vs Westmont Score 6:0 Varsity boys soccer team played their first home game of the season against Westmont. It only took hornets few minutes to score their first goal of the game and with a beautiful thru ball for Ibraheem he finds himself one on one with keeper and coolie slots the ball into the net. Hornets would end up scoring two more goals one from Adam and one from Allen to bring the first half to 3:0 lead. Second half was pretty much the same Hornets would control the ball and creat few more chances and score three more goals. Goal scores Ibraheem, Adam and AJ. Hornets would make one mistake with 4 minutes left in the game by making a foul inside the box and award Westmont with a penalty kick. Hornets young goalkeeper was up to the task and he would make a great save and keep a clean sheet. Hornets second clean sheet of the season.
Hornets vs Crystal Lake Central Score 3:2 Varsity boys soccer team played in Plainfield North Invite against Crystal Lake Central. Hornets started the game played well winning 50-50 balls and moving the ball comfortably. AJ made a wonderful run on left side of the field and his cross was well put inside the 6 yard box where Gael was in right place and put the ball past the keeper for first goal of the game. Hornets would continue pressing hard and making Central players commit errors and one of those was a loose pass in midfield where Benny would take it all the way to their box only to be fouled inside and gives hornets penalty kick opportunity to extend their lead. Ben Bush was tasked for taking penalty kick which he converted calmly into bottom left corner. Hornets lead 2:0. With 60 seconds left in first half Central gets their chance from corner kick and they score with a header. Halftime 2:1 Hornets 🐝. Few minutes into second half hornets got a free kick from a promising position and Allen’s kick goes thru Central 3 player wall and into the net. Hornets lead 3:1. Much of the second half was played on hornets terms where they controlled the tempo of the game and made Central players frustrated at times for their clever time wasting. With 60 seconds left in the game Central scores their second goal of the game. Little too late for anything dramatic to happen as Central runs out of time and Hornets get their Plainfield North Invite on right track by winning 3:2.
Sophomore The Hornets started conference play on Tuesday against Addison Trail. An early mistake put the hornets behind 0-1 to begin the game. However, they battled through the first half, defending many of Addison Trail’s attacks. Great defensive plays were made by Rayhan Shah and Roberto Mendoza to protect our goal. Kareem Chahin and Andres Cortes keep the midfield under control for most of the half and tried to generate passes to our offensive players to create chances on goal. The end of the first half and beginning of the second half were not great for the hornets. One great defensive play was made by Ahmed Adnan to save a goal. Lukas Isberg helped out the team and played defense when multiple players from our starting backline were injured. The highlight of the game was by Kareem Chahin who played an excellent thru ball to Omar Kayyat who used his speed to create a breakaway and scored our only goal of the half. The Hornets lost 1-7. The Hornets will regroup this week at practice, hopefully heal our injuries, and prepare for Proviso East next week.

DGN had a few shots in the first half and eventually got a goal after the defense couldn’t clear the ball. The game ended with a 0-1 loss.
On Wednesday we went to LTHS where we anticipated a very difficult game. We displayed a very organized defense game foe the majority of the game, Dean, Diego and Owen held the defense together for as long as they could. The few times we made mistakes LT capitalized on them. The game finished with a 0-6 loss.
We finished the school week off at the Lockport Invite where we played Lincoln Way East. Mladen scored the goal the would put us in the lead, Lincoln Way would later score tying the game and taking it to penalties. We will open up conference play on Tuesday against Addison Trail.
Freshman Our first away game was against Hinsdale Central.
