Sophomore On Tuesday the hornets played Willowbrook. The game started out with the hornets attacking Willowbrook with multiple chance in front of the net that we couldn’t finish. Then a mistake allowed Willowbrook their first goal. Luckily, the team didn’t give up and pressed on with a pass from Ibraheem Chahin to assist Liam Camden’s goal to tie the game 1-1. At halftime the Hornets regrouped and started the second half well. Unfortunately a mistake in the back allowed Willowbrook their second goal. With a lack of subs due to injury, Willowbrook capitalized on another opportunity to score. The hornets lost 1-3.
On Thursday the Hornets played their last game of the season against York. Our back line had a few early mistakes to let in 2 goals. Andreas Tjavaras played well in the back for our team helping us keep up with York's speed, but unfortunately at halftime the score was 0-2. During the second half, Tristan Schauer and Ibraheem Chahin worked hard in the midfield to connect passes. We pressed trying to win back the goals we had lost. Aj Metzger worked hard and followed his shot to score the only goal of the game. The Hornets lost 1-5.
At the end of the season our leading goal scorers were Tristan Schauer and Liam Camden who tied for the lead with 5 goals. Aj Metzger came in a close second with 4 goals. Tyler Kocourek led the team with 4 assists on the season. The Hornets finished the season with a conference record of 1-2-3 and an overall season record of 5-6-4.
Freshman Boys freshman soccer team played away game at Addison on Monday morning - we lost 2:0.
Hinsdale South @ Proviso West Last game of the season and hornets played away against Proviso West. Terrible field conditions but both teams had to deal with the same issue. Hornets fell behind 2 to zero in first half with some defensive mistake. Second half was all hornets pressuring and trying to score. With 20 minutes left in the game AJ dribbles past couple defenders only to lose the ball that ends up into the path of Gustavo who one time shoots and scores for hornets and puts them right back into the game. Hornets kept on applying pressure and with 10 minutes left in the game Isberg scores a goal that levels hornets with home team. Couple more chance for hornets but no real threat and game ends in a tie 2:2.
Week of October 1st

Sophomore This week the Hornets continued their conference play with two games. On Tuesday we played Morton and a slow start allowed Morton an early chance to score. Unfortunately, our slow start continued the entire first half and we conceded 3 goals. At halftime we regrouped and decided on our game plan for the second half. Matt Sagat made multiple saves in the second half and our team only allowed 2 goals during the second half so the final score was a loss of 0 – 5.
Then on Thursday the Hornets played Leyden. A mistake on a corner kick allowed Leyden their first goal of the game. Our goalie was sick, so Gael Marquez stepped up to play goalie. He made multiple saves in the to help the Hornets only allow in 2 goals during the first half. Then during the second half the Hornets started to turn things around. Great passing was done by Enris Dambrauskas, Ibraheem Chahin, Tristan Schauer, and Ian Ortiz. The Hornets created an opportunity and Ibraheem Chahin scored our first goal of the game. The boys used their momentum to keep pushing forward and kept Leyden in their own half. Near the end of the game AJ Metzger got past their back line, just got the ball past the goalie and scored to tie the game 2-2. It was great to see the team work hard to come back from 0 -2 and end the game with a 2-2 tie. Next week the team finishes their season with games against Willowbrook and York.
Freshman Hinsdale South vs York - Score 1:6 Boys freshman soccer team played a home game against York. Boys started playing well creating few chances, but without any real threat to put the ball into the net. With 10 minutes left in the half hornets perfect one touch soccer between Kareem, Isberg and Matt resulted in Isberg sending a lovely ball down line to Matt, who crosses the ball and finds AJ who slots the ball bu goal keeper and puts hornets up 1:0. First half ends with hornets leading 1:0. Second half wasn’t a good performance by home side as they were down 2 goals within 15 minutes into the second half. Unlucky plays continued for hornets the rest of the half and final score hornets 1 and York 6.
Hinsdale @ Proviso East Boys freshman soccer team played away to Proviso East team. This was a high scoring game that ended in a 4:4 tie. Hornets opened scoring thru Gustavo’s long range shot from 25yards that just went under the crossbar. Few chances later AJ gets a beautiful thru ball from Isberg and AJ is one on one with goalie and he puts hornets up 2:0. With 10 minutes left in the first half hornets are awarded a corner kick. Isberg takes a corner kick and delivers a beautiful ball to Matt who heads the ball into the net and puts hornets up 3:0. Couple minutes left in the half and hornets defense makes a mistake and allows proviso to score and give them hope in second half. With second half underway hornets are out under pressure and another mistake by defenders leads to proviso goal and cutting hornets lead to only 1. Hornets play in second half was so poor and allowed proviso to get back into the game and take a lead with 5 minutes left in the game. With Matt Giadla cross from left side of the field and mistake by proviso east goalie who dropped the ball into the net and gave hornets their 4th goal and tie game.
Week of September 24th

Sophomore The Hornets started the week with a game against Nazareth. The boys started out by attacking and Gael Marquez assisted Jad Alkhudari in our first goal of the game. The Hornets didn’t let down and kept the ball in Nazareth’s half for most of the first half. Great passing was done by Tristan Schauer, Gael Marquez, and Jad Alkhudari. The Hornets scored a second goal by Kareem Chahin who crossed the ball into the box causing an own goal by Nazareth. The Hornets we’re winning 2-0 when the half ended. During the second half, the hornets had a slow start. It wasn’t until Jad Alkhudari drew a foul right outside of the box and scored off the free kick that the hornets scored again to put them ahead 3-0. Nazareth kept working until the end of the game and unfortunately a positioning mistake in the back allowed Nazareth their only goal of the game. Th hornets ended the game winning 3-1!
On Thursday the Hornets played Glenbard South. The Hornets has a strong start with 4 corners in the first half and a beautiful goal by Liam Camden assisted by AJ Metzger on a through ball. The play started with Ian Ortiz who passes to AJ to create the goal. Then in the second half the Hornets kept the ball mostly on their offensive half thanks to great defense by Enris Dambrauskas and Mark Bielanski. The second goal of the game was off a perfect pass from Kareem Chahin to Gael Marquez who one touch shot the ball into the back of the net bringing the score to 2-0 for the Hornets. Late in the game with only a few seconds left Ibraheem Chahin played an excellent through ball to Liam Camden who scored his second goal of the game to allow the Hornets a 3-0 victory.
Freshman Hinsdale South vs Leyden - lost 8:0
Hinsdale South @ DGS Boys freshman soccer team played away to their rivals DGS. Even play by both teams thru first part of the game. DGS comes to a goal with hornets defenders making a crucial mistake in the back and let them have an easy goal. And with 5 minutes left in the first half hornets goalie tries to come out for the ball only to have it bounce over him and into the net. First half ends with DGS 2 goals up. Second half hornets started attacking and controlling the game and within 5 minutes of the second half Andrew Metzger(AJ) scores a beautiful one on one goal and puts hornets right back into the game. 10 minutes later Gustavo’s shot from left corner of the box scores a beautiful goal under the crossbar to put hornets level. With 10 minutes left in the game Lukas Isberg is fouled inside the penalty box and hornets are awarded a penalty kick. AJ steps up and scores and puts hornets into the lead with the score of 3:2. With a minute left in the game DGS crosses a ball that hits one of the hornets defenders and bounce right into to path of DGS player who is left alone with the goal and he shoots and scores. Games ends with a tie 3:3.

Week of September 17th

Sophomore This week the Hornets continued conference play against Proviso East. An early goal off a corner kick by Tyler Kocourek was headed in the net by Tristan Schauer. The Hornets were leading 1-0 at halftime. In the second half a counter attack by Proviso East broke through our back line and allowed Proviso East their only goal of the game to tie it at 1-1. Then the Hornets has a throw in near the box. Liam Camden threw the ball and found Tristan Schauer again to head the ball in the net and put the Hornets back in the lead at 2-1. With only a few minutes left in the game the Hornets earned another corner kick. Tyler Kocourek got his second assist of the game when he played he ball perfectly to Tristan Schauer who headed he ball in the net for his 3rd goal of the game! The Hornets won 3-1 with a hat trick by Tristan Schauer.
The Hornets continues conference play on Thursday with a game against Addison Trail. A very slow start due to the heat allowed AT their first goal. Our play picked up as the first half continued. Excellent defense was played by Enris Dambrauskas and Deonte Hudson. Gael Marquez pressed forward and earned a PK on a foul which he finished for the Hornets first goal to tie the game 1-1 at half. The second half started and our team was playing the ball much faster then in the first half. A missed call in the box which caused a mistake by our defense allowed AT a goal to take the lead 1-2. AJ Metzger took a chance from outside the box to tie the game 2-2. Unfortunately the hornets let in a third goal to give away the lead 2-3. However the Hornets didn’t give up. They pressed hard and AJ Metzger scored another goal to time the game with 3 minutes left. The Hornets ended the game timed 3-3 after fighting hard to back a comeback.
On Saturday the Hornets played Lemont at home. Excellent passing was done by Ian Ortiz, Gael Marquez, and Tristan Schauer. Enris Dambrauskas held down our back line with the help of Roberto Mendoza Lopez defending multiple of Lemont’s attacks. The Hornets held most of the possession during the game taking multiple chances on Lemont’s net. It wasn’t until the last 5 minute that Tristan Schauer finally shot over the goalie scored to put the team in the lead. The Hornets won the game 1-0!
Freshman Hinsdale South vs Willowbrook - Score 0:1 Boys freshman soccer team played home against Willowbrook. Even play thru first 20 minutes of the game with both teams coming up short of scoring. With less then 5 minutes left in the first half Willowbrook had a free kick from 30 yards out and misunderstanding between hornets goalie and his defenders Willowbrook gets away with easy goal and 1:0 lead. When second half started hornets were all over Willowbrook creating chance after chance hitting crossbar and goal post in the process. Hornets were unlucky and game ends with the score of 1:0 in favor of Willowbrook.
Hinsdale South @ Morton - Score 1:8 Boys freshman soccer team played away to Morton on Wednesday and once again bigger and faster players of Morton raced out to early lead of 6:0. Bench players of Morton come in and hornets start playing and making it look like a game. Hornets created few chances in second half and with 15 minutes left in the game Kareem shoots from 25 yards out and scores only goal for the hornets. Games ends with the score of 8:1 for Morton Mustangs.
Week of September 10th

Freshman Hinsdale South @ OPRF -Score 1:0 Boys freshman soccer team played away to OPRF. We were under pressure first 10 minutes of the game and after we settled down we started playing and for the most of the first half we controlled the game and we created few chances without scoring. With less then 10 minutes left in first half we won a corner and with a nice cross from Gustavo, Matt Giadla scored a goal to put hornets up 1:0. First half would end with that score. In second half hornets were defending whole half. They had few good chances but couldn’t score. With 10 minutes left Daniel Gebarowski received red card. Two yellow cards in less then a minute. Hornets coach also got a yellow card for arguing with referee for targeting his only player with a yellow card to help home team tie the game. OPEF now with a man up and ten minutes left in the game couldn’t find a way to score and game ends with a score of 1:0 for hornets.
Hinsdale South @ Glenbard West -Score 0:4 Boys freshman soccer team played away to Glenbard West. Once again bigger faster kids Glenbard scored 4 goals in first 20 minutes of the game. Once they put in their bench players hornets started playing and making it look like a game. We had few chances but unable to score and games ends with a score of 4:0 to Glenbard West.
Week of September 3rd
Varsity Downers Grove South game ended on a final score 1-0 in favor of DGS. First half finished with a score of 1-0. Goal was scored from a corner kick where we couldn’t clear the ball from our 5 yard line. We played mostly defense with few chances to score. Second half we took charge of the possession of the ball and and more chances to score. DGS had only one clear chance to score. Even though we attacked and created chances we couldn’t finalize. Good and hard fought game from the boys.
Saturday, September 8th - 4-0 loss to Fenton. One of the best games we have played so far. First half finished 1-0. Goal was scored last minute of the half from a free kick. We had multiple good chances to score and win this half. Second half started bad for us. Weak PK was called against us one the very first minute of second half. Brian could not save it. After that we started attacking more, we created more chances but not able to capitalize. The Fenton scored 2 more goals in second half from crucial mistakes on our end.
Sophomore The Hornets started conference play this week with a game against DGS. The game started out slow due to the heat of 90 degrees that day. However, the Hornets showed they were ready to play when Tristan Schauer scored from the top of the box to put the hornets ahead 1-0. Excellent saves were made by Eryk Klimaszewski. Unfortunately a mistake in our box allowed DGS to tie the game 1-1 before the half ended. The Hornets regrouped at half and came out stronger in the second half. Great passing was done by Ibraheem Chahin, Jad Akuhdari and Gael Marquez. Aj Metzger played a great game at defense, midfield and forward to help out our team. Despite our multiple chances in the second half we couldn’t finish any so the game ended tied 1-1.
On Thursday the hornets played Oswego east. The first half was fairly even play between the two teams and an aggressive battle. In the second half a small mistake allowed Oswego east the only goal of the game. The team worked hard through the rest of the second half to try and win it back. Excellent defense was played by Deonte Hudson. Unfortunately the hornets could not finish their chances on goal to tie the game and lost 0-1. Freshman 9-3 Monday game against Downers Grove North we lost 1:0
Hinsdale South vs Lyons Township -Score 0:7 Boys freshman soccer team played a home game against Lyons. We played against their A team and they were just to big and fast for us. They scored 6 goals in first half. Once they put in their bench players we could actually play and we created few chances but just couldn’t find a way to score.
Week of August 27th
Varsity vs. Downers Grove North -Final score 2-1 loss First half started really well for us. We dominated the game controlled the game and scored first 1-0 minute 18 of first half. Goal was scored from Jacob D and assisted from Dylan. After the goal we started to settle in defense. Had few other chances to score though but couldn’t capitalize. DGN were able to tie the game last minute of first half after a crucial mistake from our defense. Second half was about the same we defended well and created few chances upfront. Second goal was scored with 3 minutes to the end from a throw in and a header from the DGN forward.
OPRF game score was 2-0 loss for us. Our Team played a fairly good game. First 20 minutes we were playing good soccer. We had our chances but couldn’t capitalize. Defense kept us in the game. First goal was scored on minute 25th of first half. Second goal was scored on minute 39th of first half also. Second half we had few more chances but we couldn’t pit the goal in-the net
Glenwood game we lost 1-0 Goal was scored in the first half. Goal was scored on a offside position which the refs clearly missed. We played well both halfs but could not finalize. The younger kids played well especially Ibrahim and Chad from the sophomore team.
Sprigfield High game. Score 8-0 loss. We were dominated during this game. The guys were tired and overheated from the first game. First half finished 4-0. Second half we played mostly our bench to get some game experience. More mistakes were made due to experience where the other team score 4 more goals.
Sophomore This week the hornets played OPRF. Our team had great passing through the midfield between Ibraheem Chahin, Jad Alkhoudari, and Tristan Schauer. It was a close first half with our team playing great offensively and defensively. Ibraheem Chahin scored in the first half on a long shot to put us ahead 1-0. Excellent saves were made by Eryk Klimaszewski in both the first and second half to protect our lead. The Hornets won their first game of the season 1-0!
Freshmen Boys freshman soccer team played a home game against Hinsdale Central on Wednesday. Even play throughout the first half with both sides creating few chances but unable to capitalize. First half ends in scoreless draw. Second half was pretty much the same back and forth with each team trying to score that first goal of the game. With 5 minutes left in the game couple of key hornets 🐝 players started cramping up and Central started pushing the tempo to score a winning goal and they almost did that with a good shot from outside of the box that hit crossbar with 90 seconds on the clock. Game ends with the score of 0:0. Man of the match honor goes to hornets 🐝 goalie Matt Sagat.
Week of August 20th
Varsity Curie game was our first Win. This was a really good game on our end. We could have scored at least 3 goals in the first half but our forwards could not finalize. First half ended up in a tie 0-0. Second half we increased our pressure and created more chances. Jacob D scored from a shot that came from a free kick with 15 minutes left in the game. Final score 1-0 win.
Hinsdale Central game score was 5-1 loss for us. We played really well first half. Defended well, created few chances and even scored first. Bryan Alcantara GK played extremely well. HC tied the game with 4 minutes left on the first half. Bryan could have easily saved the header but he was injured few plays before the goal, so first half finished tied up 1-1. HC were playing the same game, long throughins and long kicks towards our goal. They were able to score 4 more goals in the second half due to an inexperienced goal keeper and a couple mistakes from our defense. Sophomore The Hornets opened up their season against Glenbard West. Tyler Kocouretz scored the first goal of the game. They continued great offensive attacks throughout the beginning of the game. Unfortunately a mistake allowed Glenbard West to tie the game before going into the second half. The Hornets held the tie with great defense for most of the second half and it wasn’t until the end we gave up the final goal to lose the game 1-2.
The Hornets played their second game against Curie. Liam Camden started off the Hornets with the first goal assisted by Tyler Kocouretz. Great offensive and defensive play by Tristan Schauer and Roberto Mendoza. A small mistake in the back allowed in Curie’s first goal to tie the game at 1-1. After a halftime break the boys came out strong trying to take back the lead. A strong attack gave the Hornets a corner kick that Tyler Kocouretz placed perfectly to be headed in by Liam Camden for his second goal of the game. The Hornets held onto their lead for most of the game. An unfortunate late pk allowed Curie their second goal and the game ended 2-2.
The Hornets finished the week with a rivalry game against Hinsdale central. Great defense was played by Enris Dambrauskas, Mark Bielanski, and Deonte Hudson. They held central to no goals at half. Tristan Schauer and Ibraheem Chahin won the the ball in the midfield and distributed it well to their teammates to generate attacks. Jad Alkhudari played great on the outside the continue attacks and get into centrals final third. It was an excellent game and the boys all played extremely well. An unfortunate mis clear allowed central’s only goal with 3 minutes left in the game for a final score of 0-1.
Freshman Boys freshman soccer team played a game at Nazareth Academy on Monday. Boys started playing a little nervous and that gave Nazareth the control of the game but they couldn’t make anything happen out of that. Once we got over our nerves we started attacking and threatening to score. We started to control the game and in 15th minute Kareem Chahin and Deividas (David) Karpusenka played a beautiful one-two combination down on left side which left Kareem all alone and dribbling towards Nazareth goal. Once Kareem got to goal line he crossed a nice ball intended for Lukas Isberg but defender stepped in front of Lukas and scored an own goal to give hornets 🐝 early lead in the game. Few minutes later Guatavo Botero played a give and go with David which left Gus with plenty of room in midfield and he played a great thru ball to Lukas. Lukas had 30yards to sprint with the ball towards Nazareth goal but two Nazareth defenders eventually caught up with him and blocked his shot at goal. With 13:12 left in the first half referee stopped the game due to the weather. 20 minutes later game was officially canceled.
