Varsity After having a week long break we traveled to Glenbard South to face Glenbard South for the first regional game. We came in knowing that the team was beatable, but that it would stil be a tough game. Unfortunately, we had one of the less productive games of the season. We found ourselves down 0-4 with 10 minutes left of the first half, then Ryan was fouled inside the box by the goalkeeper and he was able to capitalize on that penalty making the score 1-4 at the end of the first half. We weren’t able to find our rhythm in the 2nd half and Glenbard scored another 4 goals finishing the game 1-8. Although we didn’t end the season the way we were hoping we found a lot of positives in the team and are planning on improve for the next season.
Week of October 9th
Varsity We hosted Willowbrook for the last game of the season. We didn’t start the game the way we wanted to and ended the first half 0-3. We went into the 2nd half with different tactics and Ryan was able to find the back of the net. We kept on attacking but we couldn’t get the goal and with 5 minutes left Willowbrook found the back of the net finishing the game 2-4. On Thursday we hosted York for our senior night. The game didn’t end the way we wished, losing 0-3.
JV The JV team ended their season this week with games against Addison Trail and Downers Grove North. In the game against Addison Trail, the team controlled much of the first half and created good scoring chances for Matt Uccardi and Jake Fulscher. The game was tied 0-0 at halftime. We got off to a rough ten minute start in the second half and fell behind 3-0. Chris Wayman dribbled passed a defender and hit a shot from outside of the box to cut the lead to 3-1. We created several other chances, but weren’t able to finish and lost 3-1.
In the final game of the season, the team took on Downers Grove North in a light rain. Due to injuries, we only had 12 available players and had people playing out of position. This led to a slow start and we fell down 3-0 very early in the game. The team showed its mental toughness and continued to play hard despite the score. Muhammad Jarad and Julian Saldivar worked well together at forward. Ricardo Aillon played well defensively and Eryk Klimaszewski made some great saves in goal. The game ended 3-0. Although the results this year weren’t too good for the team, there was definite improvement from the start of the year until the end for each of the players.
Freshman Hornets 0 Addison Trail 1 Freshman boys soccer team played a final home game against Addison Trail high school. Lots of chances from Hornets but they just can’t find a way to put the ball into the Addison Trail net. Addison gets a chance and they capitalize on it and they lead at the first half by a score of 1:0. Second half was pretty much the same as first half, minus Addison scoring. Hornets created lots of chances but unable to score a tying goal. Addison Trail wins the game 1:0.
Downers Grove North 4 Hornets 2 Freshman boys soccer team played away against Downers Grove North(DGN). Even play from both teams, lots of chances from both sides but no goals. Hornets bad passing, lack of concentration, lack of communication kicks in and they allow DGN to score easy goals and they go into the half with the 4:0 lead. Second half was much better from Hornets. DGN was play shaky defense and hornets get their first goal of the game thru Jad’s shot from 25 yards. Hornets high pressure and excellent passing has them creating more chances and DGN is getting frustrated at each other for not being able to much hornets intensity. With 15 minutes left in the game Tristan scores the second goals for Hornets. Score is 4:2 for DGN. Hornets kept the same level of play to the end of the game, creating few more chances hitting crossbar few times but unable to score a goal. Hornets lose their final game of the season with the score of 4:2.
Week of October 2nd
Varsity Varsity boys traveled to Morton for what we knew was going to be our hardest conference game of the season. We came in with the mentality that we were going to play them as if they were any other team and we had one of the best games of the season. Everyone followed the tactical plans of the coach and stayed organized. Morton found a small gap in our defense and played through it and found their first goal. We kept our heads in the game and found ourselves on their side of the field several times but could find the back of the net. The majority of the shots Morton took, Bryan found a way to block them. By the end Morton was able to capitalize from our few mistakes and ended the game with a 0-4 win.
JV This week the JV boys team only had one game against York. The boys didn't start our very strong and a few mistakes have York an early goal. We made a few changes on defense which allowed us to keep ourselves in the game. A great defensive first half was played by Mark Bielanski, Tyler Hill, and our goalie Micah Thomas who made multiple saves. The weather turned bad in the second half and the rain and field conditions made it a second half that was hard to control the ball and stay on our feet. But they played through it and Tyler Johnson and Max Noga created a great opportunity that we unfortunately couldn't capitalize on. The Hornets ended up losing 5-0 but we are hoping to have more players back from injuries next week for our final games against Addison Trail and DGN.
Freshman OPRF 3 Hornets 0 Freshman boys soccer team played a home game against Oak Park River Forest(OPRF). Lots of good passing by hornets at the start of the game and at the start of the second half. But once again they start committing mistakes and find a way to beat themselves. OPRF wins 3:0.
York 2 Hornets 0 Freshman boys soccer team played away game at York high school. Even play midway through the first half both teams creating chances but unable to capitalize. Hornets get sloppy on defense and leave a guy wide open on back post and York leads 1:0 at the half. Second half was much better from Hornets, but they just couldn’t put the ball into the net. York once again scores a goal on hornets defensive miscues and win the game 2 goals to 0.
Week of September 25th
Varsity On Tuesday, we had another game at home against Nazareth. Eager to get the first win of the season the boys came in to the game pressuring every single ball that Nazareth would touch. The few times that they came to our goal, Bryan stopped every shot they had. With all the pressure, we put we found ourselves winning 2-0 at the end.
On Thursday, we traveled to Leyden for a tough conference game. We knew it would be hard game but that didn’t stop us from pressing them like we would any other team. Leyden was able to capitalize on our mistakes and found themselves up 0-4 in the first half. 2nd half we didn’t stop the pressure and that helped us get a penalty that Ryan netted making the score 1-4. Although we played a good game Leyden were able to find the net 3 more times and finished the game 1-7.
JV The JV team had very tough tests on Monday and Wednesday against LT and Morton. In both games, we defended very well in the first half, but LT and Morton were able to capitalize on mistakes in the second half to put the game out of reach. In the game against Morton, Griffin Isberg played a great free kick into the box, Elliot Garay challenged their goalie for the ball and was able to force the ball over to Max Noga who scored his first goal of the season.
The team picked up its first win of the year on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Nazareth! We got off to a slow start and it took until about midway through the first half for us to settle in and start creating chances. The team went into halftime 0-0. About 10 minutes into the second half, Nazareth took the lead on a corner kick. Sam Hanson cut into the lead just about two minutes later with a free kick goal from 30 yards out! We were able to get a second goal with under 10 minutes to go. Matt Uccardi launched a throw in into the box, Max Mendoza got a slight touch to keep the ball moving across the box and Sam Hanson was able to direct it into the far post. Ricardo Aillon and Deonte Hudson kept the defense organized throughout the game and Bryan Alcantara made some excellent saves to help preserve the lead.
Freshman LT 6 Hornets 1 Freshman boys soccer team played against Lyons high school in Lyons. Even play first ten minutes of the game. Hornets concentration went down and their passing was off and LT capitalizes on those mistakes and scores first goal of the game. More careless mistakes from Hornets and more goals from LT. halftime 4:0 for home side. Second half was much better display from Hornets. They lose the second half by score of 2:1 and final score is LT 6 Hornets 1. Lone goal for hornets was scored by Gael and assisted by Erik.
Morton 5 Hornets 1 Freshman boys soccer team played a home game against Morton high school. Hornets started playing on another level. Morton is getting frustrated that they can’t score. Hornets level of concentration drops for few minutes and Morton finally capitalizes and gets first goal of the game. Few minutes later Hornets find themselves in attacking third and this time they capitalize from a half chance and level the game at 1:1. Five minutes left in the half and hornets defense makes couple of careless mistakes and Morton once again capitalizes on that and they lead 3:1 at the halftime. Second half hornets all they could but Morton scores two more goals and they win the game 5:1.
Hornets 3 Proviso West 2 Freshman boys soccer team played a home game against Proviso West high school. Hornets started the game with nice possession of the ball and they were all over Proviso, missing few chances. Too eagerly score that first goal of the game Hornets get caught on counterattack and give up a goal to Proviso. Hornets forget about all that and they just keep on playing the same way. That hard pressure and quick movement of the ball has Hornets going up 2 goals to 1. Jad tied the game at 1:1 and Ibraheem put hornets up by one with ten minutes left in the first half. Proviso ties the game at 2:2 with another counterattack. With less than a minute left in the first half hornets score a goal thru Liam and lead 3:2 at the half. Second half was all Proviso West keeping us in our half and hornets once again display some excellent team defense and win the game with the score of 3:2.
Week of September 18th
Varsity This week the varsity boys had two conference games. The first one was against Proviso East at home, Proviso was playing a high defensive line so we were looking to send long balls over the defense so that Ryan could find himself with open space to the goal. Proviso was pressing hard and that made it difficult for our midfield to send the long balls that we were looking for. Proviso found the back of the net first, but we were able to respond and tied the game 1-1. In the 2nd half Proviso got a 2nd goal and we were unable to get another one and ended up losing the game 1-2.
On Thursday, we traveled to Addison trail for a conference game, knowing it would be a tough game we were prepared for a very demanding game. We found ourselves on their side of the field most of the first half but we could not get the ball in the goal, while the few times they got to our goal they finished their chances and found themselves up 0-3. We didn’t give up and kept on attacking and putting pressure but fell short and were only able to get 2 goals, ending the game 2-3 for Addison Trail.
JV This week the JV boys soccer team had 3 games. On Monday and Wednesday we played conferences games against Willowbrook and Leyden. The boys played very hard in both games but they didn't end up in our favor. After a few injuries the team had to bounce back and play in the heat on Saturday. The game started out strong with multiple opportunities for us to score created by Griffin Isberg, Tyler Johnson, and Jake Fulscher. Then Sam Hansen drew a foul in the box to earn a PK which he scored! Ricardo Aillon kept the back line organized and the boys were keeping possession of the ball. This brought the Hornets to 1-0 at half. Then in the second half Sam Hansen scored another goal to bring the score up to 2-0. The heat was an unfortunate factor in the game which caused a few mistakes near the end of the second half. The final score was 2-2 but we were very happy with the boys effort.
Freshman Hornets 8 Willowbrook 0 Freshman boys soccer team had a home game against Willowbrook. Hornets started the game with great team passing and got to an early lead with the goal from Jad. Unassisted goal from Ben. Two more goals from Jad assisted by Ibraheem and Enris. Jad’s first hat trick of the season. Final score of the game Hornets 8 and Willowbrook 0.

They leave a unmarked player shoot from 20yards and shot goes to upper 90. Leyden up 1:0. Ten minutes left to the half and hornets goalie makes a crucial mistake with blocking a shot straight in front of him and ball ends up at the feet of Leyden player who taps in easy goal and puts Leyden up 2:0 at the half. Second half play was much better than hornets. They scored a goal in first 5 minutes of the game by Ibraheem’s solo run on left side of the field that started in our half. He beat 5 defenders before slotting the ball by the keeper. Score is 2:1 Leyden and hornets are back into the game. Change of Hornets goalies didn’t work this time for them. Crucial mistakes by our young goalie has led to easy goals for Leyden. Defense hasn’t really helped much in that area and hornets lose the game by the score of 8:1.
Week of September 11th

The Marine Academy took the lead 0-1, but Dylan Chen got a deflected goal before the half ended and we were tied 1-1. As time passed Marine Academy pressed our defense and were able to score two more goals, finishing the game 2-3 in favor for Marine Academy.
On Thursday, the Varsity boys soccer team hosted Jones Prep for the 3rd game of the Pepsico Showdown. We created chances, but weren’t able to capitalize on them.
The team played Hinsdale Central on Wednesday It took us about 15 minutes to really settle into the game and create chances. Max Noga made a great 1v1 defensive play, played a quick transition ball to Jake Fulscher who played a great pass over to Julian Saldivar. Hornets new goal keeper in second half is Micah and early on he makes a mistake and let’s Glenbard score an easy goal. Score 3:1 Glenbard. On Thursday, Varsity boys soccer visited Oswego East, the game started off well for our side as we found open spaces in Oswego’s defense. Around fifteen minutes into the game Oswego found themselves leading the game 1-0. Oswego went on a strong ten-minute run and scored 2 more before our goalie, Bryan, had to be subbed out for an injury. We couldn’t find the rhythm of the game and ended losing the game 0-8.
On Saturday, Varsity boys soccer opened the Pepsico Showdown against Garcia. The game was going back and forth, both teams looking for open spaces. A long ball from Garcia that was not correctly defended led to Garcia going up 0-1 in the first half. Going into the 2nd half we pressed Garcia and found ourselves in their half for the first twenty minutes. We leveled the game 1-1 when Luka scored his first goal of the season directly from a corner kick. With ten minutes left in the game Garcia put in a cross that was not taken care of properly by our goalkeeper and Garcia led 1-2. After looking for a goal in the last minutes Garcia won a penalty and finished winning the game 1-3.
JV This week the JV boys soccer team played Downers Grove South on Tuesday. The boys played a great first half connecting multiple passes through the midfield and moving up the field. Unfortunately mistakes on defense let in 2 goals before the half ended. The second half didn't go our way and we ended up losing the game. On Thursday the boys played Owsego East away. Once again the boys were playing extremely well during the first half. Our communication on defense had improved from Tuesday which prevented us from leaving their players open as often. Ricardo Aillon played a great game on defense and Tyler Johnson helped defend from the midfield. Unfortunately we ended up losing 0-5 but are ready to take on Glenbard West on Monday.

We started the game pretty well but for some reason everyone started playing the ball not the players. By the time first half came Hornets found themselves down 5:0. Poor play from everyone. Halftime talk and adjustments got the Hornets going in the 2nd half and they played really well. Hornets created few chances but couldn't find a way to put the ball into the goal. Hornets lose to West Aurora with the score of 6:0.
Hornets 2 Lincoln Way Eat 0 Freshman boys soccer team played against Lincoln Way East in Lockport Tournament. Chances on both side during the first half but neither team could score. Week of August 28th
Varsity After having a break for a week, the Varsity boys soccer team traveled to Downers Grove North. The boys started out tough, consistently trying to break through Downers Grove North's defense. After 30 minutes of back and forth attacking and defending from both teams Downers Grove North broke through our defense and scored a goal. The score was 3-0 when Jack metcalf scored Hinsdale South's first goal of the season. They proceeded to attack our back line, without any response from our attack, and finished out scoring us 7-1.
On Thursday the Varsity boys soccer traveled to Oak Park to take on OPRF at their home field. Our boys worked hard throughout the whole field for the first 30 minutes, not giving OPRF a single inch of space for them to move the ball around. A late free kick in the first half for OPRF that was not cleared efficiently by our defense led to their first goal. Moments later in the first half OPRF attacked our boys on a counter attack and finished off the first half leading 2-0. Our boys started off the second half strong looking for an answer, and that came when Ryan Kuhlman was fouled inside the box leading to a penalty. Karel Ondra took the penalty shot making the score 2-1. With five minutes left on the clock OPRF punished us for lack of defense and finished the game 4-1.
On Saturday the Varsity boys soccer took in Plainfield East at home. Things looked to kick off well as Luka had given two assists Ryan to finish off the half 2-0. Five minutes into the 2nd half Karel assisted Ryan for his 3rd goal of the game. Plainfield East came back with 5 unanswered goals. The game ended 5-3 in favor of Plainfield East.
JV The JV team lost both of their games this week. On Tuesday, we took on Downers Grove North and fell 6-0. The team got off to a slow start allowing a goal and giving up a penalty kick within the first 10 minutes. They settled in after the slow start and began connecting some passes. A defensive mistake led to a DGN goal to make it 3-0 at the half. The team played much better during the 2nd half of the game. Jake Fulscher and Tyler Johnson created good chances to score. The team gave up a quick goal in the second half, but played better until the last few minutes of the game when DGN was able to get two more.
On Saturday the team traveled to Plainfield East. The team lost 5-0, but the game could have been much closer. This was the best that the team has played this season. The Bengals were able to capitalize on a few of our defensive mistakes to take a 3-0 lead at halftime. Midway through the first half, Matt Uccardi had a ball cleared off the goal line which would have cut the lead to 2-1. During the second half, Jake Fulscher had a good chance to score, but once again the Bengals were able to clear the ball off of the goal line. Overall, the team played better and will carry that play into games against Downers Grove South at home on Tuesday and away at Oswego East on Thursday.
Freshman Freshman boys soccer played away match against Plainfield East High School. Even play in the first 16 minutes of the game. Allen Kozlica made a great run with the ball on right side of the field, he beat two players and crossed a nice ball to Jad. Jad missed a shot over crossbar. Bad mix up with clearness on our defense and Plainfield scores on our mistake. First half ends with a score 1:0 in favor of Plainfield East. Mistake by hornets goalie ends with another easy goal for Plainfield. Ibraheem shot from 25-30 yards away brings hornets to their first goal of the season and puts some pressure on Plainfield East. Without much luck hornets lose their first game of the season with a score of 2:1.
Week of August 21st
Varsity This week the Varsity boys soccer team started the season against Glenbard West. Our midfield and defense was up against a Glenbard West that that pressed for every ball the second the game started. Their constant pressure and lack of communication from our side led to Glenbard West scoring 5 goals. That score does not take away credit from the great performance our goalie, Bryan Alcántara, had that game. It was a shaky start of the season, but we expect improvement the following games.
The Varsity boys soccer team also played against Curie for the season's home opening game. The boys found rhythm throughout the game, but we couldn't find the target the several times we attacked the goal. Unfortunately, a late mistake coming from the back led to Curie scoring the only goal of the game. JV This week the JV boys soccer team started out their season against Curie. Our defense was put to the test early in the first half when Curie attacked up the center of the field and earned a free kick at the top of our box. Unfortunately multiple errors allowed Curie the first goal of the game. The rest of the first half did not go our way as we ended the half 0 – 3. However, the boys kept their heads up and continued playing in the second half. Our errors in the first half were corrected and the boys began communicating and playing better as a team. We earned multiple corner kicks that Jack Metcalf placed perfectly in the box. Tyler Johnson got on the end of one and finished it in the back of the net to give us our first goal of the season! The hornets finished the game 1 – 5 but are looking forward to another chance to improve next week as they take on DGN on Tuesday.
