2025 Boys' Golf Weekly Highlights

Week of September 22nd

Varsity
The boys Varsity golf team competed in the WSC gold conference tournament. The team shot a season low score of 331.
Medalist and all conference was Armaan Tvelil with a great round of 81. Other scores that couted, Jerry Bauer with an 82(missing all conference by one stroke), Will Steckle 84 and Ben Wyent 85.

JV
The last week of JV golf culminated with the Gold conference tournament at Bloomingdale golf club on Wednesday, where each school had six golfers compete in an 18 hole stroke play tournament.  On a beautiful sunny day, the Hornets shot a combined team score of 388, which led to a 4th place in conference. The following six players golfed at conference (scores included): Kavi Patel (92), Dustin Chiovetti (97), Jonathan Bauer (97), Andrew O’Rourke (102), Eshaan Jangda (102), and Grady Nicol (103). This was a great ending to a JV golf season where the team displayed all of their hard work over a short period of time. In addition, all twelve golfers got to play in at least three matches for the season. Congratulations to the team, and we look forward to seeing this group of younger golfers develop over the next few years!

Week of September 15th

Varsity
On Monday, 9/15, the match was preceded by a nice Senior night, honoring our seniors and their parents.
Thanks, Jerry and Jack Bauer, Patryk Moczarny, Ben Wyent and Braeden Koperski.
On the course, medalist was Armaan Tvelil with a 44, other scores that counted, Jerry Bauer 48, Will Steckel 47 and Braeden Koperski 47.

On Tuesday, 9/16 the Hornets took on Willowbrook.  Unfortunately, the team lost the match by 10 strokes.  The medalist was Braeden Koperksi with a 38, other scores that counted, Armaan Tvelil 40, Kaelen Tanaka 40 and Sahil Patel 42.

On Saturday, 9/20 the Hornets finished in 4th place at the Naperville Central Match, Match Medal tournament. Braeden Koperski shot 86, Will Steckel shot 90, Armaan Tvelil shot 90 and Sahil Patel shot 92.

JV
On Monday, the Hornets took on Riverside-Brookfield in a non-conference match at Carriage Greens. The team lost by a score of 180-206. The Hornets were led by Johnathan Bauer shooting a 49 and Kavil Patel with a 51.  Other golfers competing for South were Eshaan Jangda, Armaan Setia, Konstantino Polizois, and Cole Smith.

On Tuesday, the JV South team traveled to Sugar Creek golf course to take on a tough Willowbrook team in its last conference match of the season. The Hornets lost by a score of 167-196. The team was led by Grady Nicol (44) and Eshaan Jangda (46). Others competing were Andrew O’Rourke, Dustin Chiovetti, Kavi Patel, and Armaan Setia.

On Saturday, the Hornets traveled to Naperbrook golf course to play in an 18-hole tournament against Naperville Central, Wheaton North, and Providence Catholic. The tournament was cut short to 9 holes due to inclement weather, but the team competed well despite placing 4th. Scores for the Hornets were the following: Grady Nicol (49), Andrew O’Rourke (50), Kavi Patel (50), Jonathan Bauer (52), Eshaan Jangda (52), and Dustin Chiovetti (54).

Week of September 8th

Varsity
The boys Varsity golf team had a great week in conference, winning two matches in three days. 

On Tuesday, 9/9 the boys beat Morton by a score of 169 to 204.  That was the best team score of the year for the Hornets.  Freshman Sahil Patel and Sophomore Will Steckel led the way with impressive scores of 41.  Freshman Kaelen Tanaka turned in a good round of 43 and Senior Jerry Bauer had a really good score of 44.    

Two days later, the Hornets took on the Leyden Eagles and scored a 7 stroke victory, 165 to 172.  The team again had their best 9 hole score and were led by Armaan Tvelil with a 40.  Other scores that counted were Carter Christensen with a 41, Kaelen Tanaka 42 and Will Steckel 42.   

JV
Conference play resumed Tuesday with a home match against Morton HS at Carriage Greens.  The Hornets won by a score of 200-249. The team was led by Andrew O’Rourke (48), Dustin Chiovetti (49), and Kavi Patel (50).  Other Hornets competing were Armaan Setia, Makai Smith, and Ethan Cius. 

On Thursday, the Hornets had another home match against Leyden HS. The team lost by a score of 204-181. Top scorers for the Hornets were Eshaan Jangda (49) and Kavi Patel (51). Others competing for the team were Andrew O’Rourke, Dustin Chiovetti, Grady Nicol, and Johnathan Bauer. ​

Week of September 1st

JV

On Saturday, the JV Hornets competed in the Willowbrook team scramble tournament (18 holes).  The team shot a 63 (-1) for the day. They placed 6th out of 11 teams on a beautiful day of weather, and had a great time playing together in a 5 man scramble format.  Players competing were Andrew O’Rourke, Kavi Patel, Dustin Chiovetti, Grady Nicol, and Johnathan Bauer.  

Week of August 25th

Varsity

On Monday, 8/25 the Hornets traveled to Downers Grove to take on the DGN trojans.  The match was held at the Belmont golf course, which is one of the oldest(and most difficult) 9 holes in the area.
Medalist was Kaelen Tanaka with 48, other scores that counted were Sahil Patel 48, Jerry Bauer 50, Will Steckel 51 and Ben Wyent 51.

On Tuesday, 8/26 Hinsdale South took on DGS at Seven Bridges golf course.  A beautiful, but challenging 18 hole golf course.
The Hornets lost, but played well.  Medalist was Armaan Tvelil 44, other scores that counted were Kaelen Tanaka 48, Ben Wyent 48 and Sahil Patel 52.

In a very busy week, the team played Addison Trail at Carriage Greens golf course on Thursday, 8/28.  It was a close match, but the home team lost in the end.  Medalist was Sahil Patel 43, other scores that counted Jerry Bauer 48, Ben Wyent 46 and Carter Christensen 48.

On Saturday, 8/30 the team of Sahil Patel, Braeden Koperski, Jerry Bauer, Armaan Tvelil and Will STeckel scored a good round of -8 to finish in a tie for 4th out of 12 teams.

JV
On Monday, the Hornets traveled to Belmont golf course to take on silver conference opponent Downers Grove North. The team lost to a talented DGN team by a score of 172-234.  Top Hornet scores were: Armaan Setia with a score of 55, and Eshaan Jangda with a 56. Other Hornets competing were Grady Nicols, Kavi Patel, Beckett Kuntz, and Cole Smith.

On Tuesday, the Hornets started their gold conference play by traveling to a challenging Seven Bridges Golf Course to take on Downers Grove South. The team lost by a score of 176-235. Top scorers for the Hornets were Andrew O’Rourke (48) and Dustin Chiovetti (61). Others competing were Grady Nicol, Konstantino Polizois, Eshaan Jangda, and Johnathan Bauer.

On Thursday, the Hornets took on Addison Trail in their second conference match of the season at Carriage Greens.  The Hornets won the match by a score of 212-232.  They were led by Andrew O’Rourke (47), Kavi Patel (49), and Dustin Chiovetti (56). Others competing for the team were Armaan Setia, Konstantino Polizois, and Ethan Cius. 

On Saturday, the Hornet golf team traveled to Arlington Lakes Golf Club to play in the Rolling Meadows JV golf tournament.  The team took 16th place, with a tough field of competition for the 18 hole tournament.  The team score was 419, and the Hornets were led by Dustin Chiovetti and Johnathan Bauer, both shooting 102. Also competing for the Hornets were Andrew O’Rourke, Eshaan Jangda, Grady Nicol, and Cole Smith.

Week of August 18th

Varsity
On Tuesday 8/19 the Hornets took on their crosstown rival the Red Devils of Hinsdale Central   The medalist for the match was Will Steckel with a 40.  Other scores that counted were Armaan Tvelil 45, Ben Wyent 46, Kaelen Tanaka 47.

On Thursday 8/21 the Hornets played Lions of LT.
The medalist for the match was Will Steckel with a 43.  Other scores that counted were Armaan Tvelil 49, Jerry Bauer 50 and Sahil Patel 49.

On Saturday 8/23 the Hornets traveled to Arlington Lakes golf course to play in the Rolling Meadows invite.  The boys keep improving and gaining confidence.
Medalists were freshman Kaelan Tanaka and freshman Sahil Patel, both shot 88.  
Other scores that counted were Jerry Bauer 91 and Joey Sisto 96.​

JV
On Tuesday, the Hornets opened their season facing a tough Hinsdale Central squad at Carriage Greens.  The Hornets lost 154-219.  Leading scorers were Andrew O’Rourke (52), Kavi Patel (53), and Dustin Chiovetti (55). Grady Nicol, Johnathan Bauer, and Beckett Kuntz also competed for the Hornets.

On Thursday, the Hornets took on Lyons Township in a home match at Carriage Greens.  They lost their match with a score of 157-228.  The Hornets were led by Eeshan Jangda’s 55 and Kavi Patel’s 56. A total of eight hornet golfers competed, including: Andrew O’Rourke, Dustin Chiovetti, Johnathan Bauer, Armaan Setia, Kavi Patel, Eeshan Jangda, Konstantino Polizois, and Makai Smith.

On Saturday, the Hornets traveled to Flagg Creek to play in a quad team tournament against LT, York, and DGS.  York won with a score of 141, LT placed 2nd with a 149, DGS placed 3rd with a 155,  and HS placed 4th with a score of 199 – Their best team score of the season so far!  The team was led again by Andew O’Rourke and Konstantino Polizois – both shooting 48. Golfers Grady Nicol (54) and Eeshan Jangda (49) also helped the team score.  Other Hornets competing were Dustin Chiovetti, Johnathan Bauer, Armaan Setia, Cole Smith, Makai Smith, and Ethan Cius. The Hornets completed three matches in five days against very tough competition that will ultimately prepare them for conference play!

Week of August 11th

After a long hot week of tryouts and practice the Hinsdale South boys golf team was ready for competition.  The team has a great mix of young and old.  Five seniors(Jerry Bauer,Jack Bauer, Patryk Moczarny, Ben Wyent) two juniors(Reilly Meeker,Joey Sisto) three sophomores(Ben Christensen, Will Steckel, Armaan Tvelil) and two freshman(Sahil Patel, Kaelen Tanaka).  

On Saturday 8/16 South played Oswego East in an 18 hole dual match.  Medalist for the event was Will Steckel with an 84, other scores that counted were Armaan Tvelil 90, Jerry Bauer 93 and Reilly Meeker 95.  ​
