Week of October 14th

Varsity

Billy Gneiser shot a 72 at sectionals and finished 2nd overall, losing an on course playoff for medalist, on the 3rd hole.  It was an amazing accomplishment and a fantastic round of golf that propelled Billy to qualify for the state championship tournament!
Colin Lyster, Charlie Gneiser and Kyle Cattaneo played well, but did not qualify for state.

Billy Gneiser shot 76 on the first day of the state championship and made the cut for the 2nd day, less than 40% of the individuals at the tournament make it to the 2nd day.  Billy shot another 76 on the second day, for a two day total of 152 and finished tied for 15th overall.    It was a phenomenal performance, the best finish at state for the hornets, since Jim Troy finished 11th in 1996!  Billy is only a sophomore and has a very promising future for the hornets!  

Week of October 7th

Varsity

​The team finished 4th in regionals with a season best score of 322, 4 strokes out of 3rd place and qualifying for sectionals.  Medalist at the regional was Colin Lyster with a 77, other scores that counted were Billy Gneiser 81, Charlie Gneiser 81 and Kyle Cattaneo 83.  Although, the team did not qualify for sectionals all 4 players qualified as individuals.  

Week of September 30th

Varsity
The hornets finished 2nd in conference overall and finished 2nd at the WSCC gold conference tournament with a team score of 325.  Medalist at conference with a 74 was Colin Lyster(one stroke away from medalist overall), other scores that counted were Billy Gneiser 79, Charlie Gneiser 85 and Grant Blum 87.  All four players also earned all-conference honors.   ​

Frosh/Soph

The Hornets finished off the golf season by defeating the Leyden Eagles by a score of 199 -236.  Parker Bozzi and Drew Duckhorn were both the medalists shooting 47’s.  Cam Crotty shot 51 and Joe Pantoni carded a 54 to round out the team scoring for the Hornets.  The front nine at Bloomingdale Golf Course was used for the final conference dual meet of the year.  The Hornets finished 4-2 on the conference season; which was good for second place during the dual meet matches.  

In the Conference Tournament at Bloomingdale Golf Course the Hornets shot a team 387 which was good for 3rd place.  The Hornets had three players medal.  They were:
Parker Bozzi- 5th place
Drew Duckhorn- 7th place
Came Crotty- 12th place

Week of September 23rd

Varsity
The Hornets match with Leyden was canceled to be made up at a later date.
The Hornets played in the Hinsdale Central Invite with great competition.  On a very wet and rainy day the boys struggled a little and finished 15/15.  Medalist for the tournament was Billy Gneiser with an 83.  Other scores that counted were, Charlie Gneiser 84, Colin Lyster 87 and Kyle Cattaneo 95.

Week of September 16th

Varsity

The boys Varsity golf team had an excellent week.  On Thursday, 9/19, we honored our 4 seniors, Colin Lyster, Kyle Cattaneo, Sawyer Jones and Grant Blum.  After a brief ceremony, The Hornets beat Morton 172-201.  Medalist at Village Greens GC was Grant Blum with a 40 on the back nine.  Other scores that counted were Billy Gneiser 42, Charlie Gneiser 45 and Kyle Cattaneo 45.  

On Saturday, The Hornets played in an 18 hole Quad with Naperville Central, Glenbrook South and Providence.  Even though, the Hornets finished 4th out of 4 teams, there were definitely some highlights.  Billy Gneiser was the tournament Medalist with a score of 75.  Colin Lyster took 4th place overall with a score of 78. Grant Blum shot 81 and Kyle Cattaneo shot 84 for a 4 man total of 322, the best team score of the year so far.  We are peaking at exactly the right moment.

The young Hornets had their best week of the season.
On Thursday (9/19) the Hornet golfers hosted Morton in a West Suburban Gold match.  The Hornets defeated conference rival Morton by a season low score of 181-287.  The Hornets were led in scoring by medalist Parker Bozzi who shot 43.  Joe Pantoni (45) Cam Crotty (46) Drew Duckhorn (47).  Drew Deolitsis competed and shot a 49 and Eliot Fulscher shot a 52.  Fulscher missed a hole in one on the par 3, 13th hole by inches.  This moved the Hornets West Suburban Gold record to 3-2 on the season.

On Saturday the Hornets hosted the 16th annual Hornet Invite at Carriage Greens in Darien.  The format calls for the top four of six front nine scores as well as the top four out of six back nine scores for the team total. The Hornets shot a team total of 376 which was good for 3rd place.  The Hornets had 4 golfers medal by finishing in the top sixteen.

Week of September 9th

Varsity
It was a good week for the Varsity Boys Golf team.  On Tuesday 9/ 10,  the Hornets beat Addison Trail by a score of 165-188.  Medalist was Billy Gneiser with a 40.  Other scores that counted were Charlie Gneiser 40, Colin Lyster 41 and Grant Blum 44.  
On Thursday 9/12, The Hornets took on the Pirates of Proviso East.  The Hornets won 166-254.  Medalist for the Hornets was Colin Lyster with a 37.  Other scores that counted were Sawyer Jones 39, Kyle Cattaneo 44, Emmett Savage 46.

Frosh/Soph

On Tuesday (9/10) the Hornet golfers hosted Addison Trail in a West Suburban Gold match.  The Hornets defeated conference rival Addison Trail by a score of 213-219.  The Hornets were led in scoring by medalist Parker Bozzi who shot 50.  Joe Pantoni (53) Cam Crotty (54) Drew Duckhorn (56) rounded out the scoring.  Eliot Fulscher (56) and Drew Deolitsis (63) both competed as well vs AT. 

On Thursday (9/12) the Hornets received a forfeit from Proviso East at the sophomore level.  This moved the Hornets West Suburban Gold record to 2-2 on the season.

On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Wood Dale to play in the AT Invite.  This is a two man team game that uses the Ryder Cup Format.  The Hornets finished 4th shooting a 161.  The Hornet scores were the following:
Drew Deolitsis and Joe Pantoni shot an 80.  Good for 10th place medals.
Parker Bozzi and Eliot Fulscher shot an 81.  One shot out of the medals. (11th place)
Cam Crotty, played solo and shot an 82.  Finishing 12th overall.

Week of September 2nd

Varsity
The boys Varsity golf team had mixed results last week.  On Wednesday, 9/4 the boys beat Willowbrook at Sugar Creek Golf course, by a score of 146-167.  The medalist for Hinsdale South was Grant Blum with a 34.  Other scores that counted were Billy Gneiser 36, Colin Lyster 38 and Charlie Gneiser 38.

On Thursday, 9/5 the Varsity Boys golf team lost to DGS by a score of 160-172. The medalist for Hinsdale South was Colin Lyster with a 39, Billy Gneiser also shot a 39, but the team fell a little short and lost to the mustangs.

Frosh/Soph

On Wednesday (9/4) the young Hornet golfers traveled to Villa Park and played at Sugar Creek Golf Course.  The Hornets lost to conference rival Willowbrook by a score of 185-183.  The Hornets were led in scoring by Cam Crotty who shot 44.  Parker Bozzi shot 45, Drew Deolitsis and Drew Duckhorn finished out the scoring by both firing 48’s.  Joe Pantoni shot 49 and Alex Marth shot a 52. 

On Thursday (9/5) the Hornets traveled to play conference foe Downers Grove South at Village Greens golf course in Woodridge.  The Hornets lost another close match by a score of 196-192.  Plenty of Hornets gained experience in this rivalry match as all 12 players competed.  The four scores that counted in the score were the following:  Drew Duckhorn 46, Parker Bozzi 47, Drew Deolitsis 48, and Eliot Fulscher 55.   The remaining Hornets score were the following:  Cam Crotty 57, Joe Pantoni 61, Alex Marth 50, Ryan Lokken 61, Connor Wyent 61, Marley Tarver 61, Lucas Krapukaitas 62, and Steven Czuba 66.

Week of August 26th

Varsity
The Varsity boys golf team lost a dual match to DGN by 12 strokes on Tuesday at Downers Grove Golf Club.  Medalist was Colin Lyster with a 41.  Other scores that counted were, Billy Gneiser 43, Grant Blum 45 and Charlie Gneiser 46.  

On Saturday the team took 2nd place at the Willowbrook scramble, losing on the 3rd hole of a scorecard playoff.  Charlie Gneiser made two huge putts down the stretch to secure a team score of 9 under par.

Frosh/Soph
On Tuesday (8/27) the young Hornet golfers traveled to Downers Grove and played at the historic Downers Grove Golf Club.  The Hornets lost to Downers Grove North by a score of 175-216.  The Hornets were led in scoring by Drew Deolitsis, and Alex Marth who both shot 53’s.  Joe Pantoni shot 54, Parker Bozzi shot 56, and Drew Duckhorn shot 56.  Eliot Fulscher, Connor Wyent, Lukas Krapukaitas, Marley Tarver, and Ryan Lokken all competed for the Hornets.

On Saturday (8/31) the Hornets traveled to Rolling Meadows to play in the Mustang Invite at Arlington Lakes Golf Course. The Hornets shot a team total 362 for the 18 hole event and finished 7th out of 14 teams.  The Hornets showed great promise by shooting a team score of 368 in a very tough field of 14. The format called for each team to bring 5 golfers and to count the top 4 scores from each nine.  All 5 of the Hornet golfers contributed to the team score.  The scores were the following.

Week of August 19th

Varsity
Boys Varsity golf team had a good 2nd week.  We had very good team scores vs. Hinsdale Central and LT, two perennial 3A golf powers in the state of Illinois.  Medalist in the match against Central was Colin Lyster with a 37.  Medalist in the match against LT with an excellent score of 3 under par 32 was sophomore Billy Gneiser.  On Saturday, the hornets played in the Rolling Meadows invite and finished 2nd by 2 strokes!  Medalist at the invite with a score of 75 was Grant Blum, other scores that counted, were 76 by Billy Gneiser and 80 by Charlie Gneiser and Colin Lyster.​

Frosh/Soph

On Monday the young Hornet golfers gained valuable early season experience by playing Monday at the Hinsdale Golf Club.  The Hornets lost to cross town rival by a score of 150-202.  The Hornets were led in scoring by freshman Joe Pantoni with a 47, Drew Duckhorn 50, Drew Deolitsis 51, and Alex Marth 54.

On Thursday the Hornets hosted Lyons Township at Carriage Greens in Darien and lost by a score 0f 160-201.  The Hornets were led in scoring by sophomore newcomer Cam Crotty’s 47.  Drew Duckhorn shot a 51, Joe Pantoni had a 54, and Parker Bozzi had a 53.

On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Joliet to play in the Ryder Cup Format at Woodruff Golf Course.  The Hornets shot a team total 362 for the 18 hole event and finished 6th out of 15 teams.  The Hornets were led by Eliot Fulscher and Parker Bozzi who shot an 82 and finished 6th overall.  Drew Deoilitsis and Joe Pantoni fired an 84 and finished 10th overall.  Alex Marth and Ryan Lokken shot a 96, and Cam Crotty and Lucas Krapukaitas rounded out the scoring with a 100.

It was a busy week for the Hornets where eleven golfers made their 2019 debut.  They are:  Sophomores- Parker Bozzi, Cam Crotty, Drew Deolitsis, Drew Duckhorn, Eliot Fulscher, and Alex Marth. Freshmen-Lucas Krapukaitas, Ryan Lokken, Joe Pantoni, Marley Tarver, and Connor Wyent.

Week of August 12th

Varsity
Varsity Boys golf team won an 18 hole dual team match vs. OEHS on Saturday, August 17, by a score of 328 to 339.  Medalist for the event was Colin Lyster with a 75.  Colin also had a hole in one on the 15 hole at Carriage Greens.  Other players scores that counted toward our score of 328 were Billy Gneiser with a 80, Charlie Gneiser with an 86 and Grant Blum with an 87.  Most improved player on the team from the first week is Jacob Jones, who cut about 20 strokes off his 9 hole average.
