Week of January 23rd On Friday the Hornets traveled to O’Fallon to compete in the IHSA State Championship. The boys shot a 6036 and finished in 9th place out of 24 teams to advance to day two. Zakhari Williams led the way with a 1290 series Gianluca DiNardi (1256) and Rudy Flores (1208) also bowled well.
The boys continued to compete on Saturday, but fell in the standings and finished 11th overall in the state. The team averaged 197.3 for the tournament. Gianluca DiNardi paced the team with a 1270 series and a 2525 two day total. This put him in 26th place overall. Zakhari Williams was right behind with a 1213 series and a 2503 two day total, which was good for 36th place. Matt Camacho (2329) and Rudy Flores (2287) also bowled twelve games over the weekend. Joey McDavid, EJ Mazzei, Mikie Aylward, and Noal Cook also contributed to help in the team’s success.
Week of January 16th On Saturday the team competed in the Immaculate Conception IHSA Sectional. The Hornets stayed hot and finished in 5th place to secure the first trip to State since 2008. Gianluca DiNardi shot a 1313 to finish 11th overall. Zakhari Williams finished 15th with a 1306. Matt Camacho, Rudy Flores, and Joey McDavid also bowled well to help the team advance.
Week of January 9th On Tuesday the Hornets traveled to Bolingbrook. The team overcame tough lane conditions. The varsity won 2743-2274. Rudy Flores led the team with a 642 series and games of 203 and 259. Matt Camacho shot a 623 series and games of 218 and 214. The JV stayed hot winning 2530-1652. EJ Mazzei paced the team with a 557 series and games of 198 and 190. Mikie Alyward (522) and Noah Cook (519) also bowled well.
South hosted Hinsdale Central on Wednesday. The varsity won 2732-2598. Matt Camacho led the way with a 644 series and games of 231,213, and 200. The JV came up short 2300-2442. Noah Cook again bowled well, shooting a 511 series.
Thursday was Senior Night for the Hornets. Both levels finished the regular season on a high note. The varsity won 3044-2370. Rudy Flores and Ginaluca DiNardi both shot a 654 series to lead the way. Zakhari Williams (640) and Joey McDavid (634) also bowled well. The JV won 2683-1701. Matt Camacho (607), Mikie Alyward (585), and Noah Cook (555) paced the team.
On Saturday the Hornets competed in the Naperville Central tournament. For the 3rd time in program history, the team advanced to sectionals by placing third. Gianluca DiNardi finished 8th overall with a 1226 series. Matt Camacho was 9th with a 1208. Congratulations to the whole team: Mikie Alyward, Matt Camacho, Noah Cook, Gianluca DiNardi, Rudy Flores, EJ Mazzei, Joey McDavid, and Zakhari Williams.
Week of January 2nd
On Tuesday the Hornets hosted Naperville Central. The varsity lost 2933-3249. Matt Camacho had a great night shooting a 692 series with games of 276,215,201. Zakhari Williams contributed a 650 series with games of 179,225,246. The JV had a great night winning 2509-1699. EJ Mazzei and Tom Lessmeister both rolled a 507 series to lead the team. Jeremey Radicker chipped in with a 499 series.
The Hornets traveled to Morton on Wednesday. The varsity had a hard time with the lane conditions and lost 2509-2797. Matt Camacho shot a 604 series with games of 231 and 232. The JV won 2147-1595. Mikie Alyward led the way with a 496 series.
On Thursday the team traveled to Naperville North. The varsity got back on track winning 3047-2429. Zakhari Williams shot the 3rd highest series in program history (769) with games of 255, 246, and 268. Rudy Flores bowled well with a 603 series. The JV continued their hot streak winning 2128-1723. Mikie Alyward again led the team with a 578 series.
Week of December 12th
On Monday the Hornets traveled to Reavis. The varsity struggled and lost 2560-3054. Joe McDavid had a great night shooting the high series (580) and high game (247). The JV lost 2176-2318. Mikie Alyward bowled well, shooting a 582 series with games of 176,184, and 222.
South hosted Fenton on Wednesday. The varsity shot one of the best series in program history and won 3233-2786. Zakhari Williams rolled a career best 743 series with games of 267,252, and 224. Matt Camacho had the high game (278) and shot a 640 series. Rudy Flores shot a 636 series with games of 174,236, and 226. Gianluca DiNardi continued to bowl well with a 628 series. The JV were also victorious 2447-2034. Mikie Alyward led all bowlers with a 671 series and game of 194,220, and 257.
On Saturday the varsity and JV competed in the Glenbard North/West Topcat tournament. The varsity bowled very well and finished 2nd overall (6166). Zakhari Williams finished 2nd overall (1437) with the 2nd highest game (278). Matt Camacho finished 6th (1274) and shot a 265 for the 5th highest game. Gianluca DiNardi shot a 1215 and Rudy Flores shot a 1148. The JV finished in 5th place (4703). Mikie Alyward finished 5th overall (1166) and had the 4th highest game (246). Jeremy Radicker and Austin Young each shot a 210 to help the Hornets.
Week of December 5th
On Monday the Hornets hosted Lemont. The varsity won 2958-2732. Matt Camacho was hot shooting a 691 series with games of 211, 237, and 243. Joe McDavid chipped in with a 618 series and games of 178, 226, and 214. The JV won 2123-1300. Jeremy Radicker led the way with a 528 series.
The team traveled to Chicago Christian on Tuesday. The varsity won the two game series 2026- 1783. Gianluca DiNardi led the team with a 447 series and games of 222, 225. The JV also won 1469-1234. EJ Mazzei had a great night shooting a 369 series.
On Saturday the varsity competed in the Oswego East Baker Tournament. The team placed 9th after the morning four-game traditional set. They then finished 3rd in the silver division during the baker round.
Week of November 28th
On Monday the Hornets traveled to Shepard. The match was a two game format. The varsity won 1811-1697. Zakhari Williams shot a 415 series and a 233 game. The JV won 1463-1390. Joe McDavid led the way with a 349 series.
On Wednesday South hosted Oak Lawn. The varsity earned the win 2910-2605. Gianluca DiNardi had an outstanding night shooting a 673 series with games of 245, 193, and 235. The JV won again 2297-2098. Austin Young led the way with a 509 series and 209 game.
On Thursday the team traveled to Glenbard North. The varsity bowled well, but lost 3056-3232. Zakhari Williams shot a 681 series (199,259.223) to lead the team. Gianluca DiNardi stayed hot rolling a 663 series (234,209,220). Rudy Flores contributed a 644 series (221,189,234). The JV lost 2372-2567. EJ Mazzei (487 series) and Quentin Giron (487 series) paced the team. On Saturday the varsity competed in the Immaculate Conception Baker Tournament. The Hornets finished the morning three game set in 2nd Place. This gave them the #2 seed for the baker round in the afternoon. Zakhari Williams had a great morning finishing third overall with a 696 series and games of 255,203,238. Gianluca DiNardi stayed hot finishing 7th overall with a 664 series and games of 259,232,173. Both also earned medals for top ten high game. In the afternoon the team came together and won the baker round.
Week of November 21st On Monday the Hornets hosted Morton. The varsity won 2910-2790. Gianluca DiNardi and Rudy Flores led the team with a 608 series. Joey McDavid shot a 246 for high game. The JV came out on top 2182-2136. Mikie Alyward (475) and Tom Lessmeister (466) shot the high series.
Week of November 14th
The Hornets hosted LT on Tuesday for their first home match. The varsity came up just short 2972-3069. Matt Camacho led the team with a 648 series and games of 241/216. Gianluca DiNardi (607 series, 235 game) and Zakhari Williams (605 series, 222) also bowled well. The JV continued to improve, but lost 2360-2502. Joe McDavid (489 series) and Mikie Alyward (486 series) led the team.
On Wednesday the team hosted Immaculate Conception. The varsity rolled their best series of the year winning 3114-2675. Matt Camacho had the high game (279) and series (693). Zakhari Williams (629), Rudy Flores (628), and Noah Cook (617) all bowled well. The JV shot 2343 and won by forfeit. Joey McDavid (509) and Mikie Alyward (496) again led the team.
On Thursday the Horents traveled to Oswego. The varsity lost 2830-2908. Zakhari Williams shot a 666 series with games of 235,257, and 174. Gianluca DiNardi contributed a 600 series with a 220 game. The JV lost 2089-2241. Aidan Yen (452 series) and Tom Lessmeister (445 series) were the top two bowlers.
On Saturday the varsity competed in the 52 team Plainfield North Invite. The boys finished the morning in 16th place which placed them in the silver division for the afternoon. They ended up in 24th place overall and 9th in the silver division. Zakhari Williams finished 49th overall with a 1173 series.
The JV traveled to Stardust Bowl to compete in the Lake Park Invite. The team finished 10th out of 21 teams. Joey McDavid shot a 1016 series to lead the team.
Week of November 7th The Hornets kicked off the season against Glenbard East. The varsity had a strong start to the season, but came up short by a score of 3094-3220. Zakhari Williams (678 series, 258 game), Gianluca DiNardi (656 series, 262 game), Matt Camacho (654 series, 258 game) led the team. The JV lost 2251-2299. EJ Mazzei shot a 500 series with a 214 game to lead the way.
The team traveled to Hinsdale Central on Thursday. The varsity won 3057-2383. Matt Camacho led the team with a 696 series and games of 228,268,and 200. Gianluca DiNardi was right behind him with a 667 series and games of 257 and 248. The JV team came up short 2179-2310. Austin Young had the high series (466) and Brian Gambill had the high game (206)
