Varsity Monday, May 11th: Hornets took a tough loss to St. Laurence, 17-3. Jordyn Lucas, Ava Scheirer, Tasanee Hilsen, and Lilly Davy each collected hits to get runs on the board. The Hornets battled and had given it their all!
Wednesday, May 13th: A battle like no other ends the game with a loss by one run. The Hornets lost to Addison Trail 6-5. Francesca Arnold and Lilly Davy kept the rally going by keeping their bats hot and collecting hits, plus driving in the runs! Our pitcher, Raegan McDaniel, had 10 strikeouts during her time on the mound.
Friday, May 15th: Hornets fought hard against Downers Grove South but fell to them, with a score of 11-0. It was a strong start by keeping the score 0-0 to the 3rd inning. Raegan McDaniel, the starting pitcher, had 17 swinging strikes, with 7 of them being strikeouts. McDaniel also went 2-for-3 at the plate, having a strong all-around game! The girls kept their spirits high as they finished the last game of their regular season!
JV2 Hinsdale South JV Hornets fell short to St. Laurence on Monday 15-5 despite out-hitting them nine to seven. Randi Anderson led the team with three hits. On Wednesday, the Hornets bounced back and won big over Addison Trail, beating them 11-1 and securing first place in conference. The key player of the game was pitcher Emily Stuckey who struck out 7 batters. On Friday we went to battle with Geneva, and came out on top, winning 18-16. Caroline Kelly drove in 4 runs on 4 hits, both offenses were very strong at the plate. Our JV Hornets ended the season with a final record of 16-4, the future is bright for Hinsdale South softball.
Week of May 4th
Varsity Tuesday, May 5th: Hornets take the win against Addison Trail with a score of 13-2! The Hornets were on a rally in the first inning by scoring 7 runs. In the second inning, the Hornets kept up the momentum by scoring 6 runs! Lilly Davy, Amaani Khan, Tas Hilsen, Franny Arnold, and Ava Schierer kept their energy up by motivating one another. Hanna Crumpler, our starting pitcher, threw 70 pitches, and the defense behind her was strong!
Wednesday, May 6th: Hornets defeat Willowbrook with a score of 9-7! Ava Scheirer stayed consistent with her batting, collecting 3 hits out of her 4 times up to the plate. To which one was a solo home run! Francesca Arnold also kept the rally going by hitting a home run in the top of the 6th inning! Raegan McDaniel, our starting pitcher for the game, struck out 5 players on the opposing team. Bats stayed strong throughout the game by Jordyn Lucas, Scheirer, Tasanee Hilsen, Lilly Davy, and McDaniel, each collecting multiple hits.
Friday, May 8th: Hornets fall short to Leyden Eagles by a score of 9-5. The Hornets collected 9 walks overall by Francesca Arnold, Lilly Davy, and Ava Scheirer by keeping their patience and cool at the plate. Davy also went 2 out of 4 for her hitting.
Saturday, May 9th: Hornets fell to Lyons Township with a score of 3-1. The Hornets collected 9 hits total against LT, with Francesca Arnold leading that rally by collecting 3 hits out of her 3 times up to bat. Tasanee Hilsen also kept her strength at the plate by collecting 2 hits out of her 3 times at bat. Raegan McDaniel, our starting pitcher, had an average 67% of strikes out of 71 pitches while on the mound.
JV2 The Hornets had an outstanding week, winning all three of their games in impressive fashion. They opened the week with a dominant 17-0 victory over Addison Trail, recording eight team hits along with numerous walks. Raegan McDaniel and Emily Stuckey combined to strike out nine batters in the shutout performance. The win against Willowbrook did not come as easily, as the Hornets faced an early 1-8 deficit heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. Showing determination and resilience, the team battled back and secured an exciting victory when Juliana Flores hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning ending the game with a score of 11-10. The Hornets concluded the week with a solid win against Leyden, a much-needed victory after falling to them earlier in the season.
Week of April 27th
Varsity Wednesday, April 29th: Hornets take the victory against Proviso East with a score of 23-1! Bats were on a roll by Franny Arnold, Maddie Steckel, Lauren Diaz-Day, Jordyn Lucas, Alex Kuhlman, Aliyah Hamilton, and Tas Hilsen. Our pitcher, Steckel, allowed 0 hits with 4 strikeouts. Collectively, the team had 15 hits and 14 stolen bases. JV2 This week, the Hornets played two games, finishing with one win and one loss. Their victory came at home against Proviso East with a score of 19–9, as Emily Stucky and Lilyani Munoz delivered strong performances on the mound, combining for twelve strikeouts. Offensively, the team recorded four hits while drawing an impressive twenty-one walks. The loss came against Lemont High School in rainy conditions, where the weather negatively impacted the Hornets’ defense and led to seven team errors. Despite the setback, Raegan McDaniel had a solid outing, recording nine strikeouts.
Week of April 20th
Varsity Monday, April 20th - Hornets fall to Willowbrook 8-2. Lilly Davy led the team with one run batted in! Amaani Khan went 1-2 on the plate. Tas Hilsen had two walks as well. The Hornets had a tough fight at the plate and gave everything they had!
Tuesday, April 21st - Providence Catholic beats the Hornets 19-0. Maddie Steckel, Alex Kuhlman, and Franny Arnold each collected one hit for the Hornets! Although a toss loss, they fought strongly!
Wednesday, April 22nd - Hornets beat the Leyden Eagles 5-4! It was a rally from the start! We were tied all the way until the 4th inning then Jordyn Lucas singled, giving us one run to score, allowing us to take the lead! Lilly Davy, Aliyah Hamilton, and Maddie Steckel were on fire with their hitting! The energy was up, and the players were not giving up!
Saturday, April 25th - Hornets lose 17-10 against Hinsdale Central. Our lead-off hitter, Ava Scheirer, hits a single home run! All together, the Hornets collected 18 hits from Maddie Steckel, Scheirer, Amaani Khan, Lilly Davy, Jordyn Lucas, Tas Hilsen, and Aliyah Hamilton! The bats were on a roll, and the runs kept coming.
JV2 The Hornets had a challenging week, finishing with a 1–2 record. They opened on a high note with an 18–6 victory over Willowbrook High School, highlighted by Raegan McDaniel’s four hits and three RBIs. Emily Stucky, Randi Anderson, and Lilyani Munoz each contributed three hits, combining for six RBIs. Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t carry through the middle of the week, as the Hornets fell to Providence Catholic 12–2 and Leyden 8–0. However, they bounced back to end the week strong with a 4–0 win over the crosstown Hinsdale Central Red Devils. The team scored all of their runs in the first inning, with Lilyani Munoz delivering a strong single up the middle to drive in two RBIs. Despite the ups and downs, the team continues to compete with determination and resilience.
Week of April 13th
Varsity Monday, April 13th - Hornets completed the win against Proviso East with a score of 17-0. Ava Scheirer went 4-4, connecting with the ball and driving in runs. In the bottom of the second inning, the Hornets scored 14 runs. Seniors Lily Davy and Alex Kuhlman delivered on back-to-back hits, propelling the hornets forward. Even though there was a lightning delay, the Hornets rallied and used their energy to score 3 more runs in the third inning to take home the win. Our starting pitcher, Hanna Crumpler, allowed 0 hits and 0 runs from Proviso East, striking out 6 in a consistent and solid performance.
Tuesday, April 14th - Hornets fell to the Morton with a score of 9-2. Lilly Davy and Aliyah Hamilton kept the energy up by collecting two hits each, with one of them being a single home run for Hamilton. Our starting pitcher, Maddie Steckel, struck out 4 batters. Hanna Crumpler then came in for relief. Franny Arnold had two walks and two stolen bases. Although a tough loss, the Hornets are ready to bounce back as they face Morton again on April 16th.
Thursday, April 16th - Hinsdale South beats Morton 7-0! Hanna Crumpler threw a shutout, having 11 swinging strikeouts. The bats were hot with Ava Scheirer, Lilly Davy, Franny Arnold, Lauren Diaz-Day, Amaani Khan, Aliyah Hamilton, and Tas Hilsen, allowing runs to be scored! The Hornets were on a rally and were a force that could not be stopped! Friday, April 17th - Hornets played against Downers Grove South and fell 15-0. Lilly Davy and Amaani Khan each collected two hits! The Hornets fought strongly and gave everything they had!
JV2 The team played great against Proviso East High School, with Taylor Marshall driving in four RBIs on three hits, Juliana Flores hitting a double to bring in two RBIs, and Raegan McDaniel adding an RBI with a single. The team also played excellent defense to shut out the Pirates. They continued their strong performance against the Morton Mustangs, scoring twenty runs on five hits and drawing eighteen walks. In the final game of the week against Downers Grove South, the Hornets came out strong with three runs in the first inning and went on to score twelve runs on eight hits. Raegan led the defense with an impressive thirteen strikeouts. The team finished the week undefeated with a 3–0 record.
Week of April 6th
Varsity Tuesday, April 7th - Hornets win! With a score of 20-10 against Westmont high school. Ava Scheirer started off strong as our lead off hitter, hitting a solo home run to get the girls pumped in the bottom of the first! Tasanee Hilsen followed with a triple to continue our solid first inning.
Scheirer followed her batting momentum by hitting a single in the bottom of the second, allowing us to score 2 more runs. Aliyah Hamilton followed with a strong hit increasing the Hornet’s lead to 6-2. Excellent hitting contributions followed as Aliyah Hamilton, Tasanee Hilsen, Maddie Steckel, Ava Scherier, Alex Kuhlman, and Lauren Diaz-Day connected with base hits. Our pitching committee team of Hamilton, Steckel and Scheirer all worked together to get the job done! The Hornets cheered each other on and had each other's backs throughout the game!
Wednesday, April 8th - Hornets take the victory beating Plainfield Central 12-11. Our team had 20 hits, including 3 total home runs by Alex Kuhlman, Tas Hilsen, and Aliyah Hamilton. We fought at the plate and all around dominant hitting performances were made by Maddie Steckel, Lilly Davy, and Ava Scheirer. Maddie Steckel, and Ava Scheirer challenged the Plainfield hitters with excellent and consistent pitching. The Hornets fought hard to get the win and proved their ability to fight and never give up.
Friday, April 10th - Final 10-5 fell to Nazareth Academy. The Hornets fought hard with Tasanee Hilsen hitting a sacrifice fly that allowed two runs to cross home plate. Lilly Davy delivered a 2-4 performance consistently challenging their pitcher with her confident at bats. Alex Kuhlman advanced the hornet cause by stealing two bases and consistently playing with a high level of intensity that challenges us all to be better.
Saturday, April 11 - Hornets win 3-2 against Metea Valley! Our pitcher, Hanna Crumpler, started the game and ended up pitching all 7 innings. Crumpler had 96 pitches and her highest strike out count to date. Franny Aronold, Jordyn Lucas, Amaani Khan, Lilly Davy, and Ava Scheier kept their bats hot by staying locked in and keeping their eye on the ball to get the job done! The hornets played rock solid defense behind Krumpler giving us the best possible chance to win the game. Hornets for the win!
JV2 Our Hinsdale South JV Hornets continued their winning streak by taking down Reavis, Nazareth and Metea Valley this week. On Wednesday 4/8 the JV Hornets took down Reavis, winning 20-5. Emily Stuckey and Raegan McDaniel both went 3 for 3 at the plate. The JV Hornets collected a total of 16 hits throughout the game. On Friday 4/10, Caroline Kelly went 5 for 5 at the plate helping the Hornets take down Nazareth Academy 23-7. On Saturday 4/11 the JV Hornets continued their streak beating Metea Valley 22-12, Raegan McDaniel drove in 7 runs on 4 hits.
Week of March 23rd
Varsity Tuesday, March 24th - Varsity played against De La Salle Meteors. Although it was a loss, our girls were full of resilience in our 19-10 game. Our girls rallied and fought back each and every inning, scoring runs throughout the game. Our major highlights include Aliyah Hamilton hitting 2 back to back home runs–one which scored 3 Hornets! Amaani Khan and Ava Scheirer brought in several RBI’s. Ava Schierer went 3 for 4, registering two triples. Our pitchers, Hanna Crumpler and Ava Schierer held our walks to a minimum going aggressively after the hitters and keeping them off balance.
JV2 Our Hinsdale South JV Hornets started off the season strong with an 11-1 win vs De La Salle. Pitcher Raegan McDaniel struck out 11 batters, allowed zero hits and only walked 4 batters. Kathy Sanders doubled in the first inning scoring 2 runs. Randi Anderson was another key hitter throughout the game, she went 3 for 3 at the plate scoring 3 runs for the Hornets.
Week of March 16th
Varsity Friday, March 20th - Varsity played IC Catholic Prep on Friday, March 20th, our home opener! Although we had a tough 9-1 loss, we had several highlights such as Aliyah Hamilton’s solo home run out of the park, getting us on the board! We had several standout defensive moments that demonstrated the tenacity and dedication of our players.We are excited to build upon the highlighted strengths within this game and look forward to our upcoming games.
Saturday, March 21st - Varsity played Reavis High School on Saturday, March 21st. We rallied during the bottom of the 7th inning, to nearly stage a comeback win. While the final score was 5-4, We fought back, scored runs, and never gave up. We had strong at bats that demonstrated quality pitch selection and made the other pitcher work consistently throughout the game. Hannah Crumpler and Ava Scherier, had a strong pitch by committee and uplifted each other to provide the best chance to ensure a hornet victory. We look forward to building off of this energy and positivity to win our next game against De La Salle this week.
