2026 Boys' Volleyball Weekly Highlights

Week of May 4th

Varsity

JV

The Hornets JV team wrapped up Week 6 competing hard against strong opponents in Oswego East, St. Charles East, and Hinsdale Central. The Hornets pushed Oswego East to three sets before falling, then continued to battle with great effort against St. Charles East and Hinsdale Central. The week concluded with the team’s Wounded Warrior Project match against Hinsdale Central, where the atmosphere was filled with positivity and support for veterans as the players competed with energy, pride, and heart.​

Freshman A

Freshman B
The freshmen returned to action with another challenging schedule featuring Oswego East, St. Charles East, and Hinsdale Central High School. The week began with an exciting home victory against Oswego East, as the Hornets battled through three hard-fought sets to earn the win. On Tuesday, the freshmen once again found themselves in a competitive three-set matchup against St. Charles East but ultimately came up short. The week concluded with a fun and meaningful match at Hinsdale Central during the Wounded Warrior Project event, where the Hornets earned a well-deserved victory over the Red Devils. Outside hitter Aiden Santos delivered an outstanding offensive performance this week, consistently putting aggressive swings on the court.​​

Week of April 27th

Varsity

Short week for the hornets going 1-1 with a conference win over proviso east and a difficult loss against Lyons Township. RJ Corson was able to tally a few kills for the hornets who are now 4-0 in conference play.​

JV
The Hornets JV team opened Week 5 with a strong comeback performance against Proviso East on 4/28, battling through a tight first set to win 25-23 before taking control in the second set 25-14. The Hornets faced a challenging Lyons Township team and later competed in the Leyden Invite that saturday, earning one victory in tournament play. One of the most exciting matches of the weekend came against Leyden, where the Hornets narrowly fell in a thrilling third set 16-17 after fighting point-for-point until the very end.​

Freshman A

Freshman B
It was a shorter week for the freshman Hornets, with only one match scheduled against Lyons Township High School. Although the team fell in two sets, the players continued to demonstrate grit, determination, and commitment to both their teammates and the program. Raul Angel and Dorian Coleman played an important role in keeping team morale and energy high throughout the week, even in the face of adversity.

Week of April 20th

Varsity

The hornets had a 3-0 week with wins over St. Laurence, Leyden, and a 3 set battle over Geneva. They improve to 3-0 in conference. Ethan Ebreo had over 15 digs on the week and led the defense throughout. ​

JV
The Hornets JV team put together a strong Week 4 with impressive straight-set victories over St. Laurence and Leyden. In both matches, the Hornets controlled the ball well and played with confidence, communication, and consistency from start to finish. The team closed out the week against a tough Geneva squad on 4/24, falling in two sets but continuing to show growth and competitiveness as the season moves forward.​

The Hornets kicked off the week in exciting fashion with a home matchup against Saint Laurence in the main gym. The freshmen dominated the match with a two-set sweep, continuing to showcase the rhythm and chemistry they have developed throughout the season. Riding the momentum from Monday’s victory, the team returned home on Tuesday and earned another impressive two-set win over Leyden. To close out the week, the freshmen traveled to Geneva and competed hard in a tough road matchup. Outside hitter Ishrath Singh and right-side hitter Anthony Kirov led the offensive attack this week with powerful and consistent scoring performances.​

Week of April 13th

Varsity

Varsity had a 3-1 week with wins over Morton, Lockport, and Larkin. One loss of the week was a 3 set thriller at Bolingbrook where Tomas Lobas led the team in kills and blocking. The Hornets are now 2-0 in conference. 

JV 
Week 3 tested the resilience of the Hornets JV team as they battled through a demanding stretch of matches. The boys faced tough losses against Bolingbrook, Morton, and Lockport, including an intense 33-35 third-set battle against Morton and a hard-fought three-set match against Lockport after taking the opening set. The team responded with determination by earning a three-set victory over Larkin, and despite missing several key players during the Barrington Invite on Saturday, the Hornets continued to compete hard and gain valuable experience against strong competition.​

Freshman A

Freshman B
The freshmen brought unmatched intensity and determination to a packed week of competition featuring Bolingbrook, Morton, Lockport, and Larkin. The Hornets started the week strong by earning impressive wins over Bolingbrook and Morton. Next, the team squared off against Lockport and battled hard, capturing the second set despite falling in the match. The week concluded with another competitive matchup against Larkin, where the freshmen once again showcased their resilience by securing the second set. Libero David Matthew Aquino had a standout week, taking command of the back row and making key defensive plays that energized the team.​

Week of April 6th

Varsity

Varsity opened conference play with a win at Downers South. Great middle play by Cj Mitchum spread out the offensive. Following up with wins over Sandburg and Stagg where the outsides Justyn and Tom took over. South opens conference play 1-0.

JV
The Hornets JV team continued to grow together during Week 2, facing solid competition throughout the week. The Hornets fell to DGS, but responded with back-to-back victories over Sandburg in a close two-set battle and Stagg in another straight-set win (all because Ayden got his new shoes!) As the season progresses, leaders are beginning to emerge and the team’s confidence, communication, and chemistry continue to improve each match.​

Freshman A

Freshman B
After a well-deserved spring break, the freshmen returned refreshed and ready to compete against Downers Grove South, Sandburg, and Stagg. The Hornets delivered a strong performance against Downers Grove South on Tuesday, narrowly falling short after an intense battle. The team bounced back in thrilling fashion on Wednesday against Sandburg. After dropping the opening set, the freshmen flipped the momentum and stormed back to win the next two sets and claim the match victory. On Thursday, the Hornets faced Stagg in another close contest, ultimately coming up short. Setter Landon Benning stepped into a leadership role this week, constantly communicating with teammates and keeping the energy high both on and off the court.​

Week of March 30th

Varsity
Spring break ended with the hornets finishing 6th at the Argo tournament with wins over Mt. Carmel and Stagg and losses to Sheppard, Argo and Oak Lawn. Justyn Giadla and Navin Linson lead the team in kills and serve recieve. Congrats to Justyn on being selected all tournament. ​

Week of March 23rd

Varsity

The season opened up with 2 wins vs Elgin and Benet. Every member of the team contributed to start the year on a 2-0 pace. Strong outside play by Justyn Giadla and Tomas Lobas who had majority of the kills. 

JV
The Hornets JV team opened the season strong with a hard-fought three-set victory over Elgin to earn their first win of the year. The Hornets continued to compete with great energy and effort against a tough Benet Academy team, battling throughout the match despite falling in two sets. Overall, it was a strong first week that showcased the team’s competitiveness, teamwork, and determination.​

Freshman B
The freshman squad opened the season by bringing incredible energy and enthusiasm to the court. On Tuesday, the Hornets battled Elgin in an intense three-set matchup and fought hard to secure their first victory of the season. One of the team’s biggest strengths during opening week was its consistent and aggressive serving. The freshmen returned to action on Thursday against Benet Academy, where they showed resilience and determination despite suffering their first loss of the year. Every player contributed tremendous effort and hustle throughout the week, setting the tone for an exciting season ahead.​
