JV On Monday the JV tennis team defeated Proviso West 5-4 in a "college style" dual meet with all Hinsdale South players competing in both singles and doubles. Jeremiah Soto and Jethro Rivera earned the first victories of their high school careers, and Warren Watkins clinched the team with a thrilling 7-5 victory at #1 singles. On Friday the Hornets competed at the WSC Gold conference tournament, where Iain MacLeod earned a third-place medal at 2nd singles. Cortez Noblin and Warren Watkins finished 4th at #1 doubles, and Jamie Oakes and Cole Smith finished 4th at 2nd doubles. Congrats to the JV team on an excellent season!

JV The JV team bounced back from three consecutive rain-outs to compete in the Downers Grove South Super 16 Invite on Saturday. In the final dual meet of the day, the Hornets defeated Lockport in a "total games tiebreaker" behind solid singles play from Eshaan Jangda and Iain MacLeod. Warren Watkins and James Oakes played a highly competitive match at #1 doubles as well.
Week of April 27th
Varsity Wow… What a busy week for the Hornets. With matches on each day Tuesday through Saturday, the Hornets were really tested. They started the week off with a 7-0 win against Leyden and then played a tough IMSA and NSCD team on Wednesday and Thursday (driving all the way up to Winnetka). Friday they took on a strong Willowbrook team, and despite falling 1-6, saw several matches go to a third set. Eli has continued to put together a nice season, with some big wins this week, including going 3-1 at the LWE tournament this weekend. The team of Crue and Radosav had some competitive matches at the first doubles position at the LWE tournament, and so did the team of Charles and Eshaan Jangda.
JV This week the Hornets broke through and won their first dual meet win of the season, a 5-2 victory over conference opponent Leyden. Iain MacLeod, Cortez Noblin, and Omar Kashlan swept #s 1-3 singles, while Michael Alkhouri, Warren Watkins, James Oakes, and Cole Smith recorded doubles wins. Congrats to Michael and Warren on getting the first wins of their high school careers!
Week of April 20th
Varsity This week the Hornets continued conference play, taking care of business against Addison Trail with a 7-0 win. Later in the week, the Hornets traveled to Nazareth Academy where they played four doubles matches. Eli and Connor lost a competitive match at the first doubles position and Crue and Charles put up a strong fight against an experienced doubles team from Naz at the 2nd doubles position.
JV James Oakes and Cole Smith won their first-ever doubles match in dramatic fashion, coming from behind at #3 doubles to defeat Nazareth 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. The following day, the "Cardiac Kids" won another thrilling match at #3 doubles vs. Oswego by the score of 6-2, 2-6, 11-9. Iain MacLeod and Warren Watkins played extremely well at the Wheaton-Warrenville South Quad, dropping close #2 doubles matches to Oswego (6-4, 6-4) and Wheaton-Warrenville South (7-5, 6-3).
Week of April 13th
Varsity This was a light week for the Hornets, with their only match against conference rival DGS. Despite falling 0-7, the Hornets saw some encouraging play up and down the line-up. It’s a long season, and they intend to hit the practice courts hard, eager to flip the script about a month from now in the conference tournament.
JV Our JV players showed definite progress this week. Iain MacLeod won our first individual match of the season at #2 singles vs. Willowbrook, battling back after a first set loss to win 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-2. Michael Alkhouri dropped a highly competitive match at #3 singles by the score of 6-4, 7-6 (4).
Week of April 6th
Varsity This week the Hornets saw their first matches of the season! They took on a tough LT team on Tuesday, and while they fell 0-7, they saw some stellar play behind freshman Eli Nigro, and newcomers Radosav Dubak and Charles Oakes. On Saturday they hosted their home quad, taking on Lemont, Glenbard South, and DePaul College Prep. The Hornets had a great day of tennis with some matches of note including Eli Nigro and Crue Robards capturing some wins at the 1st and 2nd singles positions against Lemont and then Eli and Connor Doydora taking down a strong 1st doubles team from Glenbard South in a thrilling 3rd set.
JV The JV boys tennis season got off to a windy start at Lyons Township High School on Wednesday. Six players in our starting line-up played the first tennis matches of their Hinsdale South careers. Congrats to Michael Alkhouri, Warren Watkins, Jamie Oakes, Cole Smith, Jeremiah Soto, and Jethro Rivero for beginning to play our lifetime sport!
