Varsity May 18th, 2026 - Morton - W 2 - 1 (13 - 18, 10 - 6) Tonight was senior night for the Hornets on a perfect May night. The Hornets were able to run out a starting lineup with 8 seniors and played a total of 9 in the game, which is a testament to the fortitude and tenacity of the 2026 senior class. In a tight pitching matchup, the Hornets came out on top 2 - 1.
Braeden Koperski was nails through 6 innings in his final conference start of the season. Braeden threw only 77 pitches through 6 innings, striking out 2. The defense was fantastic as Braeden forced weak contact throughout the game. Ethan Rodriguez came in to close out the 7th and was nails, throwing 1 clean inning and picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Frank Waitkus had a huge night at the plate, generating most of the Hornets offense in the game. Frank was 3 for 3 on the night with 3 doubles, to both left and right center field. Frank also scored the winning run when he was balked in after moving to 3rd on a Taylor Mazur sac bunt.
May 19th, 2026 - Morton - W 7 - 5 (14 - 18, 11 - 6) The Hornets traveled to Morton for game 2 of the series looking to secure their 4th conference series victory. Timely hitting, good baserunning, and fantastic pitching all combined to a Hornet victory. The team will go for the sweep on Friday, looking for the 3rd conference sweep of the season.
Frank Waitkus had another fantastic start on the mound, closing out his conference pitching for the year. He settled in after a rocky 1st inning to throw a total of 6 innings striking out 8 and walking 0. Frank closed out his conference pitching with an impressive stat line of 4 wins, 44 strikeouts to only 7 walks, and a 2.77 ERA in 30.1 innings pitched. Breckin Bozzi closed out the 7th, collecting his 3rd save of the year and securing the win for the Hornets.
The offense was once again paced by Frank Waitkus and Ben Miller as each were 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Frank had 2 doubles on the day and a triple, while ben added a double and triple of his own. Brady Miller also was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, while Dylan Filipiak added an RBI single late in the 5th as well.
May 21st, 2026 - Morton - W 10 - 4 (15 - 18, 12 - 6) The Hornets closed out the regular season with a victory against the Morton Mustangs. The win cemented the 3rd conference sweep of the year, bringing the final conference record to 12 - 6. The Hornets finished in 3rd place in the West Suburban Gold conference, their best finish in 4 years.
Ben Miller got his final start of the season on the mound and looked very comfortable throwing 5 innings, striking out 6 Mustangs. Ben closed the year with two of his best starts and really built some confidence going into the playoffs. Ethan Rodriguez threw the 6th inning striking out 1 Mustang, while Jack Madden closed out the 7th, also striking out 1 hitter.
The offense was clicking as every player that appeared in the game reached base successfully at least once and the Hornets tallied 13 total hits on the day. Louie Dusek, Frank Waitkus, Taylor Mazur, and Vasili Monogios each had a 2 hit day, with Louie and Taylor each tallying multiple RBI as well. It was all around a great day for the Hornets as they look to stay hot moving into the playoffs.

Freshman Monday Hinsdale traveled to Morton for the conference match up. The Hornets would collect 11 hits and score 14 runs. Will Murphy led the charge with a triple and home run leading to 4 RBIs. Murphy started on the mound for Hinsdale South. The pitcher gave up one hit and three runs over four innings, striking out seven and walking six. South would go on to win 14-5.
Tuesday Morton visited the Hornets at home.Owen Miller began the game for Hinsdale South. The hurler surrendered three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking four. Ethan Alavi would collect 2 hits to go with Tyler Beringer’s two walks. It would take all 7 innings to decide this one with Alavi walking it off in the bottom of the inning. South 5 Morton 4.
Wednesday Hinsdale finished the season series against Leyden. The Hornets made quick work of the Eagles scoring 11 runs in the first 3 innings.Will Murphy and Jack Davy had two hits a piece. Tyler Beringer began the game for the Freshman Hornets. The starter allowed one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Hornets 11 Eagles 0.
Wrapping up the 2026 Freshman season, Hinsdale made the trip to Morton. The Hornets got on the board in the top of the first inning after Will Murphy hit a sacrifice fly, and Ryan Calistro walked, each scoring one run. Santiago Lopez started on the mound for Hinsdale South Freshman Hornets. The starter gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out eight and walking four. Hinsdale South took the lead, 6-4, in the top of the sixth thanks to singles by Chase Doyle, and Owen Miller. The Hornets would hold on, winning 8-5.
Week of May 11th
Varsity May 11th, 2026 - Leyden - W 10 - 0 (10 - 17, 7 - 6) The Hornets traveled to Leyden for a conference matchup against the Eagles, who are also 6 - 6 in conference. The Hornets took game 1 behind a no-hit performance from Frank Waitkus and a strong offensive output from the Hornet hitters.
Frank Waitkus was the star of the show, throwing a 5 inning no hitter with 10 total strikeouts. Frank won his 4th conference game of the year on the mound and lowered his season ERA to 1.963 and his conference ERA to 2.014.
The Hornets came out strong, scoring 5 runs in the first inning, knocking the starting pitcher out early. A steady onslaught of runs moving forward helped to propel the Hornets to a 10 run slaughter rule win. Alex Dunwoody and Jack McDaniel had 2 hits each on the day, while Frank Waitkus and Vasili Monogios each drove in 2 runs each.
May 12th, 2026 - Leyden - W 7 - 3 (11 - 17, 8 - 6) Despite poor weather, the Hornets and Eagles decided to gut out game 2. The Hornets came out on top with a final score of 7 - 3, thanks to good execution on the offensive side and timely defense.
Braeden Koperski started game 2 this week and had a quality outing, earning him his 3rd conference win on the year. Breckin Bozzi came in and threw 3 innings strong allowing 0 runs and striking out 2. Finally, Ethan Rodriguez threw the top of the 7th striking out 1.
The offense was paced by Vasili Monogios and Taylor Mazur, each of whom had 2 hits on the day. Vasili was 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs, and Taylor was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Frank Waitkus also had 3 hits on the day, with 2 runs scored. It was an all around positive team effort, with many players executing good baseball, moving runners, getting bunts down and getting clutch hits when needed.
May 13th, 2026 - Leyden - W 3 - 0 (12 - 17, 9 - 6) The Hornets traveled back out to Leyden for the final game in this series looking for the 2nd Conference sweep of the season. In the biggest pitching duel we’ve seen this season, the Hornets managed to outlast the Eagles for a 3 - 0 victory, completing the sweep.
Ben Miller was stellar in his first conference win on the season. Ben threw 8 innings (the longest outing for any Hornet this season) and allowed 0 hits and 0 runs. Ben had 7 strikeouts as he threw our 2nd no hitter in a row! Jack Madden came in to throw the 9th inning, and helped Ben complete the combined no hitter.
Offensively, the Hornets poured it on late, scoring 3 runs in the 9th inning. Brady Miller was 2 for 4 and had the big hit late in the game, driving a double deep to left for 2 RBIs, securing the win.
May 16th, 2026 - Highland Park - L 0 - 4 (12 - 18, 9 - 6) The Hornets took on their final Non-Conference game of the season against the Giants of Highland Park. Today was our charity game for the year and we raised money to donate towards Parkinsons Research. It was a beautiful day and we did a great thing for our community, despite falling short of victory. The Hornets dropped the game, 0 - 4 against the ace from Highland Park.
Jack Bauer got the start on the mound for the Hornets and threw a gutsy performance, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing only 2 runs. Jack had 5 strikeouts before passing off to Jack Madden who had 1 inning of work. Ethan Rodriguez came in for the final out of the game as well.
Offensively, the Hornets struggled against a very good pitcher. Brady Miller stood out, recording 2 hits, one of which was a double. Ben Miller recorded our other hit on the day, and Taylor Mazur reached base twice with 2 walks.
JV May 11, 2026 - Leyden - W 7-3 The Hornets took on Leyden in their next conference series, looking for their third consecutive sweep. Leyden jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a two-run home run in the first inning. The Eagles held this lead until the 5th inning, when the Hornet offense put together a very strong inning. A leadoff walk for Brody Elting was the catalyst for the big inning as the Hornets collected 4 hits, with RBIs from Andrew O'Rourke, Cameron Mitchell, John Pitsoulakis, and an RBI double from Connor Jaffrey. This big inning for the Hornets would prove to be enough to secure a 7-3 victory.
May 12, 2026 - Leyden - Tie 11-11 In game two of the series, the Hornets proved to be their own worst enemies on the defensive side as they made a number of mistakes, leading Leyden to take an 11-3 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning. The Hornets were able to finally shake their bad play and score 4 runs in the 5th and 6th innings to tie the game 11-11. The offensive comeback was an all-around team effort as each player had to put together strong at-bats to tie the game. The Hornets went into extra innings but were unable to complete the game due to darkness, leading to the 11-11 tie.
May 13, 2026 - Leyden - W 21-7 The Hornets travelled back to Leyden looking to shake off their bad play from the day before and secure a very important game 3 win. The Hornet offense did exactly that, as they were relentless with scoring in every inning except the 1st. The Hornet offense was able to put together an outstanding stat line of 13 hits, 17 walks, and 19 RBI's. Jude Galla and Connor Jaffrey powered the offense as they collected 5 RBI's each. The Hornets would score a season high 21 runs, which would be enough to slaughter the Eagles and secure the game 3 victory.
May 16, 2026 - Highland Park - L 5-2 The Hornets hosted Highland Park in the second annual charity game at Hinsdale South. The Horntes JV team faced a tough challenge as they took on the Highland Park varsity subs and even some of the varsity players. Despite the uphill battle, the Hornets played tremendous baseball, led by John Bauer on the mound. Bauer finished with 4.2 innings, allowing 2 runs, 3 hits, while collecting 2 strikeouts. The Hornets were able to tie the game 1-1 in the 4th inning on an RBI single from Cash Hipskind. Despite playing a good game, the Hornets would lose to Highland Park 5-2.
Freshman The Freshman Hornets looked to bounce back against Leyden at home Monday. The offense was rolling early, scoring 6 in the 1st. Tyler Beringer, Will Murphy, and Jack Davy would collect 2 hits a piece in the game. Beringer led things off on the mound for Hinsdale South. The starter allowed two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three. The Hornet complete the shut out winning 9-0.
Wednesday Leyden returned to Hinsdale to play game 2 in the series. The Hornets got out to a good start again scoring 2 in the 1st. Hinsdale South captured the lead, 8-4, in the bottom of the fourth when Will Murphy singled, scoring two runs, Calistro grounded out, scoring one run, and one run scored on a balk. Murphy began the game for the Freshman Hornets. The right-handed pitcher allowed two hits and four runs (three earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking six. South 8 Leyden 6
Friday the Hornets battled the Blazers of Addison Trail at home. The offense struggled, only collecting 1 hit. Santiago Lopez stepped on the bump first for Hinsdale South. The right-handed pitcher surrendered seven hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out four and walking two. This one was all Blazers, Addison Trail 12 Hinsdale South 2.
Wrapping up the week, Hinsdale South had Willowbrook visit to finish up the season series. The Warriors scored 6 runs over the first 2 innings. Tyler Beringer pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for Hinsdale South. The reliever allowed two hits and zero runs while, striking out four and walking none. John Pitsoulakis started on the bump for the Hornets. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and six runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking two. The offense got rolling late, Santiago Lopez drove in 2 (one being the go-ahead run) in the top of the 7th with a double. Ethan Alavi walked 3 times in the comeback. South 8 Willowbrook 6.
Week of May 4th
Varsity May 4th, 2026 - Addison Trail - L 16 - 17 (8 - 15, 5 - 5) After postponing the game in the 3rd inning due to poor weather, the Hornets traveled back to Addison Trail to finish up a high scoring affair. The Hornets battled back after being down 9 in the 2nd inning to tie the game up in the 7th. Unfortunately, the Blazers were able to push across a run in the 7th to close out the highest scoring game of the year.
Braeden Koperski started the game but was chased early thanks to a power uptick from the Blazers. Taylor Mazur stepped in and helped the Hornets claw back into the game by throwing 100 pitches across 4.2 innings.
Every Hornet managed to reach base at least once in the game, but a few really stood out. Louie Dusek was the star of the show, going 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored, and a massive 5 RBIs on the day. Brady Miller also had a big day, going 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs of his own. Alex Dunwoody was 2 for 4 with 4 runs scored, and Vasili Monogios went 3 for 4 with the game tying double in the 7th. The Hornets look to close out the tough series with the Blazers on Thursday and are hoping to win their 3rd conference series of the year.
May 5th, 2026 - Addison Trail - W 5 - 4 (9 - 15, 6 - 5) The Blazers of Addison Trail traveled to Alumni field for Game 2 of the tight conference matchup for a cold duel that took us into 9 full innings of baseball. The Hornets came out on top, thanks to a deep walkoff double into right center from Ben Miller, his second walkoff of the year.
Frank Waitkus started on the mound and threw a fantastic 4.1 innings, striking out 3 all while holding the dangerous Blazer offense at bay. Frank took a line drive off the ankle that forced him out of the game, handing the ball off to Jack Madden. Jack had one of his longest outings of the year, tossing 2.2 innings, striking out 2 and allowing 0 runs. Breckin Bozzi came in for the close and tossed 2 innings scoreless, also with 2 strikeouts. All together, the Hornet pitching staff was fantastic and held off one of the strongest offenses in the conference.
Offensively, Ben Miller was the hero of the day. Ben was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs, his final hit being the walk off double in the bottom of the 9th. Vasili Mongogios was also 2 for 3, and Alex Dunwoody and Frank Waitkus also added hits and 2 Runs scored each. The team put together great at bats all game and came together for a big conference win.
May 7th, 2026 - Addison Trail - L 3 - 7 (9 - 16, 6 - 6) The Hornets had to battle through a ton of adversity this week, with rainouts, lightning delays and injuries plaguing the team. After a tough week, the Blazers came out on top in the final game of the series.
Jack Madden got his first Varsity start of his career, after an unfortunate injury in the top of the first knocked out the Hornets scheduled starter. Jack, never wavering, took the mound and fired off 2 innings and held off the stout Blazers offense to keep the Hornets in the game. Ethan Rodriguez came in for 2 innings of his own before passing off to Jack Bauer for the final 2 frames. Jack finished with a team high 4 strikeouts on the day.
The Hornets mustered 9 hits on the day, but couldn’t get the big clutch hit late in the game to push them over the top. Louie Dusek started the scoring in the 2nd inning with a deep Home Run to left center field, his 2nd on the year. Louie finished the day 2 for 4. Jack McDaniel and Taylor Mazur also had multi-hit games, Jack going 2 for 4 and Taylor 2 for 3 on the day. Lincoln Cabrera, Frank Waitkus, and Ben Miller all added hits of their, while Brady Miller and Vasili Monogios had RBIs.
May 9th, 2026 - Glenbard West - L 5 - 7 (9 - 17, 6 - 6) In the final crossover game of the season, Hinsdale South dropped a tough game to Glenbard West. After battling back to take the lead late, the Hornets slipped and allowed the Hilltoppers to sneak back into the lead.
Jack Bauer gutted out a great start to the game after already throwing some quality innings on the week. Jack went 2 innings striking out 2 and allowing 0 runs on 0 hits. Braeden Koperski came in for his first relief appearance of the season and held off the Hilltoppers for 2 more innings. Alex Dunwoody filled out the final 3 innings of the game, only his second appearance of the season.
The Hornet offense came out and scored early, but were stalled out until late in the game. Louie Dusek stayed hot, going 2 for 4 on the day with 2 runs scored. Frank Waitkus and Drew Baughman also added 2 hits each. The big thump came from Jack McDaniel once again, who sliced a huge 2 RBI double down the left field line in the 6th inning.
JV May 4, 2026 - Addison Trail - W 16-1 The Hornets opened up their conference series at home against Addison Trail on Monday, looking for their second consecutive conference sweep.The Hornet offense was rolling from the first pitch, scoring 6 runs in the first inning. In the first inning, the Hornets drew three bases-loaded walks and then capped off the strong inning with a two-RBI single to center from Josh Wells. The Hornets kept the bats in the second inning, scoring 4 more runs on hits from Jackson Bucholz, Cam Mitchell, and a Colin Bills double. This trend would continue in the fourth inning, where the Hornets put the game out of reach, plating their 16th run of the game Connor Jaffrey started on the mound for the Hornets and was lights out, throwing a complete game, giving up only 1 run, on 2 hits, and collecting 9 strikeouts. The Hornets would secure the win 16-1.
May 5, 2026 - Addison Trail - W 14-11 The Hornets were on the road for game two of the series and looked to keep their momentum. The offense jumped out to another early lead as they were able to put together their second 6-run first inning in two days. The three Hornet freshmen powered the offense as Colin Bills, Josh Wells, and John Pitsoulakis all hit RBI base hits in the first inning. The offense stayed consistent, and we were able to score in all but one inning for a total of 14 runs. Despite the Hornet offensive attack, Addison Trial put together a 7-run fifth inning on Hornet mistakes to make it a close game in the final innings. Despite the Blazer comeback, the Hornet pitching staff of Josh Well, John Bauer, and Cash Hipskind were able to secure the 14-11 win for the Hornets.
May 7, 2026 - Addison Trail - W 6-1 The Hornets hosted the Blazers for game 3 of the series and looked to complete the sweep. The Blazers got on the board in the first inning with some soft contact, taking an early 1-0 lead. The Hornets, not phased at all, would come right back to take a 3-1 lead on RBI's from Connor Jaffrey and a two RBI single from Brody Elting. Elting powered the offense, collecting 3 total RBI's. The Hornet pitching staff of Brody Elting and Jude Galla combined to allow only 4 hits, 1 run, and collected 5 strikeouts each. The strong all-around performance from the Hornets gave them a 6-1 win and a series sweep.
May 9, 2026 - Glenbard West - L 16-5 The Hornets travelled to take on the Hilltoppers in their conference crossover game. The Hilltoppers jumped out to an early 11-0 lead in the first inning as they put together some very strong at-bats. This lead would be too much to overcome for the Hornets, and they would go on to lose the game 16-5
Freshman The Hinsdale South Hornets traveled to Addison Trail Tuesday for a conference match up. Hinsdale South Freshman Hornets jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after 2 errors led to 2 runs followed by a JJ Bodik single, scoring two runs, and a Chase Doyle double, scoring one run. Tyler Beringer began the game on the mound for Hinsdale. The righty surrendered one hit and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking three. The Hornet would go on to win 12-5.
Wednesday Addison Trail made the trip to take on the Hornets at home. JJ Bodik continued to lead the offense collecting two more hits. Jack Davy and Owen Miller would drive in a run a piece. Will Murphy stepped on the hill first for Hinsdale South Freshman Hornets. The pitcher allowed three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking 10. The effort wouldn’t be enough as the Freshman Hornets would go on to lose 4-3.
Saturday, Hinsdale South would take on Glenbard West. It was all Glenbard in this one, JJ Bodik and Ryan Calistro were the only Hornets to record a hit in the contest. Owen Miller put up a fight on the bump for the Hornets. The pitcher gave up four hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Glenbard 11 Hinsdale South 0.
Week of April 27th
Varsity April 28th, 2026 - Proviso East - W 7 - 1 (6 - 13, 3 - 4) The Hornets started their 3rd conference series of the year against the Pirates of Proviso East. The Hornets took game one on the backs of a fantastic pitching performance and timely hitting.
Braeden Koperski started game one of the series and cruised through 5 innings allowing only 2 hits and striking out 4. Braeden lowered his season ERA to 2.42 and his conference ERA to 0.43 with his 3rd fantastic start. Ethan Rodriguez threw 1 inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 and Jack Madden tossed the final frame, striking out 3 Pirate hitters.
7 Hornet hitters scored hits on the day with Alex Dunwoody, Frank Waitkus, Vasili Monogios and Ben Miller all having multi hit days. Ben had 2 RBIs on the day and Jack McDaniel also slugged a 2 run triple in the 2nd inning. The Hornets bats are heating up and hope to carry the momentum into Game 2.
April 29th, 2026 - Proviso East - W 12 - 0 (7 - 13, 4 - 4) The Hornets came out with a complete game against Proviso East. A combination of superb pitching and timely hitting helped propel the Hornets past the Pirates in a 6 inning affair.
Frank Waitkus took the mound for his 3rd conference start, and pushed his conference record to 2 - 1 on the year. Frank had 10 Ks through 5 innings pitched and lowered his season ERA to 1.861 and raised his conference strikeout numbers to 24 through 3 games. Louie Dusek closed out the 6th frame with 1 strikeout of his own.
The Hornet bats were alive once again as 3 hitters tallied a multi hit game. Dylan Filipiak and Drew Baughman each had 2 hits and recorded 2 RBIs with Drew knocking a late game double. Jack McDaniel continued to be a force at the plate, recording a 2 for 3 day as well. Taylor Mazur also produced with a big 2 run single to help push the Hornet scoring into double digits.
April 30th, 2026 - Proviso East - W 10 - 0 (8 - 13, 5 - 4) The Hornets completed their first sweep of the season after defeating the Pirates of Proviso East in a 10 - 0 rout. The Hornets continued to swing hot bats, execute on the base paths, and pitch fantastically as they move on to the weekend showdown with OPRF. Breckin Bozzi fired off the first complete game of the year for the Hornets in his first start on the Varsity Level. Breckin threw 7 innings striking out 7 and only allowing 4 hits. This was the first complete game shutout for the Hornets on the year.
The offense had 11 hits on the day with 7 Hornets having at least 1 knock on the day. Vasili Monogios had a big day with 3 hits, including 1 double, and 3 steals on the day. Brady Miller started to heat up as well with 2 hits, including a double as well. The biggest hit of the day was a late inning homerun from Jack McDaniel. This was Jack’s 3rd homerun of the year!
May 2nd, 2026 - Oak Park River Forest - L 4 - 14 (8 - 14, 5 - 4) The Hornets traveled to Oak Park to play the Huskies of OPRF in the penultimate crossover game of the season. A late rally was not enough for the Hornets to push through the stout offense of the Huskies as they fell 4 - 14.
Jack Bauer started on the mound for the Hornets and made it twice through the lineup, tossing 3 innings and striking out 2. Ben Miller made a relief appearance throwing the following 2 innings. Poor defense chased Ben late in the game, as Jack Madden came in to finish the final .2 outs, striking out 2.
Offensively, 2 Hornets stood out as Dylan Filipiak and Louie Dusek both had 2 hits, an RBI, and a run scored for the Hornets. Taylor Mazur and Alex Dunwoody also had RBI singles on the day to help out the Hornet offense.
JV April 28, 2026 - Proviso East - W 18-0 The Hornets, looking to stay hot in conference, travelled to Proviso East for the first of the three-game series. Connor Jaffrey started on the mound for the Hornets and dominated Proviso, throwing four innings, allowing no hits, no runs, and striking out ten. John Bauer came in to finish the last two innings of the game, keeping pace with Jaffrey, allowing no hits and striking out three. The Hornets' offense was rolling as they collected 12 hits and scored 18 runs on their way to slaughter the Pirates in the first game of the series, 18-0.
April 29, 2026 - Proviso East - W 22-0 The Hornets hosted the Pirates in game two of the series. The Hornet offense stayed extremely hot as the game only lasted three innings. Every Hornet hitter that came up to bat was able to reach base with either a hit or a walk. All the great Hornets' at-bats allowed them to have a season-best 14-run inning in the third, leading to a game two win 22-0
April 30, 2026 - Proviso East - W 16-1 The hornets, looking to pick up their first sweep of the season, hosted Proviso East on a rainy afternoon.The Hornets allowed their first run of the series to the prates on a base hit to right field, putting the Hornets down 1-0 after the top of the first. Despite falling behind early, the offense continued to roll, scoring 16 runs in the bottom of the first inning. which would be enough to hold in a weather-shortened game. The Hornets completed their first sweep, winning 16-1
May 2, 2026 - OPRF - L 3-2 After the week's sweep of Proviso East, the Hornets took on a very good OPRF team at home. The Hornets were able to jump out to an early lead in the bottom of the first on a Connor Jaffrey sacrifice fly to center field that scored Jude Galla. Brody Elting took the mound for the Hornets and looked very strong through the first two innings. The Huskies, however, were able to string together a few hits and score three runs in the top of the third to go up 3-1. The Hornets battled back into the game in the sixth inning when they were able to score one run on a Jackson Bucholz groundout, scoring Nick McConnell from third to cut the deficit to 3-2. After the groundout, the Hornets were able to load the bases and were one hit away from taking the lead. Unfortunately, they were unable to execute, leaving the bases loaded. OPRF would go on to hold the Hornets again in the seventh inning, leading to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss for the Hornets. The Hornets look to bounce back as they take on Addison Trail next week
Freshman Hinsdale South visited Leyden Wednesday for a 5 inning non-conference game. Tyler Beringer began the game for the Hornets. The starting pitcher allowed eight hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking two. Beringer would also collect the only hit for the freshman and he also stole 2 bases but that wasn’t enough to secure the victory. Leyden 2 Hinsdale South 1.
Week of April 20th
Varsity April 22nd, 2026 - Hinsdale Central - L 5 - 10 (4 - 13, 2 - 4) The Hornets traveled to Hinsdale Central for back to back crossover games during the bye week for this season. Hinsdale Central came off a sweep of York, and managed to keep their bats hot in an offense filled day.
Braeden Koperski started on the mound but was chased after just 2 innings of work. Taylor Mazur managed to stem the Red Devil hitters a little bit but was also ultimately chased after 2 innings as well. Jack Madden came in for 1.1 innings, before Frank Waitkus finally closed out the final .2 innings on the road.
Jack McDaniel was the star of the show offensively for the Hornets during this game. Jack was 3 for 4 with a deep homerun to right field in the 4th inning to close the gap to just 2 runs. Jack and Dylan Filipiak also had doubles to help set up scoring opportunities, with Dylan’s being a bases clearing 3 RBI double over the right fielders head.
April 24th, 2026 - Proviso West - W 11 - 1 (5 - 13, 2 - 4) The Hornets met with the Panthers of Proviso West for the 3rd straight and 5th total crossover game of the season. We were able to get back into the win coloumn thanks to quality defense and pitching, as well as timely hitting and execution late in the game.
Frank Waitkus started the game on the mound and threw an efficient 2 innings, striking out 3 Panthers and allowing only 1 hit. Ben Miller came in relief today and fired off 3 perfect innings striking out 3 as well. Finally Breckin Bozzi came in and closed out the final frame of the game with 1 strikeout of his own.
The bats came alive, with 6 Hornets tallying hits on the day. 3 Hornets had multi hit games including Jack McDaniel (3 for 4), Brady Miller (2 for 3) and Vasili Monogios (2 for 2). Jack, Brady, and Ben Miller all slugged doubles on the day with Jack having 3 RBIS and Brady having 4. Overall, this was one of our better offensive performances this season. JV
Freshman The Freshman Hornets scored seven runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Hinsdale Central 13-3 on Wednesday. Will Murphy singled, scoring two runs,Owen Miller doubled, scoring one run, JJ Bodik singled, scoring one run, Tyler Beringer singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on another play. Beringer was on the mound for South. The starting pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking three.
Friday Hinsdale South battled South Elgin at home. Owen Miller started on the mound for the Hornets. The pitcher surrendered three hits and one run over three innings, striking out six and walking none. The Freshman captured the lead, 5-1, in the bottom of the fourth after South Elgin committed an error, Miller walked, Ryan Calistro grounded into a fielder's choice, and Ethan Alavi walked, each scoring one run. Santiago Lopez pitched one inning of no-run ball for South in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none. Hornets 10 South Elgin 3.
Week of April 13th
Varsity April 13th, 2026 - Willowbrook - L 0 - 3 (4 - 9, 2 - 2) The Willowbrook Warriors traveled to Alumni field to kick off the second conference series of the year. The very talented Warriors and the Hornets were teed up as some of the strongest teams in conference this year and the implications of this series were high. Willowbrook stole game 1 in a tight pitchers match up.
Braeden Koperski started on the mound for game one and tossed a fantastic 5.1 innings before being chased after a lightning delay in the 5th inning. Braeden kept the ball down in the zone and held the strong Warrior offense to just 3 hits on the day. Jack Madden came in to close out the game, firing off the last 1.2 innings scoreless.
The opposing Warrior pitcher commanded the zone very well to his credit and limited the Hornets to just 4 hits on the day. Ben Miller continued to swing a scorching hot bat, tallying 2 more hits on the day and Jack McDaniel bullied a double to deep right late in the game. Louie Dusek added the final Hornet hit on the day with a laser to right field.
April 14th, 2026 - Willowbrook - L 6 - 12 (4 - 10, 2 - 3) Game 2 turned into a slugfest late in the game with both teams adding runs late. The Warrior offense was too much for the ailing Hornet bullpen as the Warriors pulled away late to secure the win.
Frank Waitkus started on the mound and fired off 4.1 innings striking out 5 Warriors. Frank was fantastic during his time on the mound, but ran out of juice and had to pass off to Jack Madden. Jack eventually gave way to Alex Dunwoody who closed out the final inning of the game.
The Hornet bats came alive, tallying 13 hits on the day but could not keep up with the Warrior offense. Jack McDaniel was the lead hitter, going 3 for 4 on the day coming up just a HR shy of the cycle. Frank Waitkus and Lincoln Cabrera both settled in as well, tallying 2 hits each. Vasili Monogios was productive as well, with 2 sac bunts, a sac fly, and a single in the last inning. Alex Dunwoody, Lincoln Cabrera, and Taylor Mazur all tallied steals on the day as well.
April, 16th 2026 - Willowbrook - L 0 - 9 (4 - 11, 2 - 4) In the final game of the series against Willowbrook, Hinsdale South failed to defend the sweep and lost 0-9 in a tough matchup on the mound.
Ben Miller started his 4th game of the year on the mound and tossed 3.0 innings striking out 3 Warrior hitters. Ben was knocked out of the game and handed the ball off to Breckin Bozzi, who had his best outing of the season so far. Breckin had 6 ks, including 3 in a row to get out of a bases loaded jam. He completed 2.1 innings before handing off to Ethan Rodriguez, who had a scoreless frame, and ultimately Ramus Jenkins. Ramus threw 1 inning, striking out 2.
The Hornets struggled offensively against another strong Warrior pitching performance. Ben Miller stayed hot at the plate, tallying 2 hits out of the leadoff spot. Louie Dusek and Dylan Filipiak also added hits on the day with Dylan going 2 for 2.
April 18th, 2026 - Downers Grove North - L 5 - 10 (4 - 12, 2 - 4) In the 3rd crossover matchup of the year, the Hornets took on the Trojans of Downers Grove North. DGN came into the game hot and handled a late comeback from the Hornets.
Connor Jaffrey got the start on the mound for the Hornets in his first Varsity start of his career. Connor threw 3 innings allowing 5 hits and striking out 1 before being chased for Jack Bauer. Jack threw the remaining 4 innings, striking out 3 Trojans.
Offensively, the Hornets added runs late in the game, but they were too little too late. Alex Dunwoody and Louie Dusek each slugged their way to 2 hits on the day respectively, with Louie hitting a towering homerun in the 7th to deep left field for his first as a Hornet. 4 other Hornets managed to get hits on the day, but as a team we struggled to push runners across home plate. JV April 13, 2026 - Willowbrook - W 8-3 The Hornets opened up conference play back up against a strong Willowbrook team and were looking to get back in the win column
Josh Wells took the mound for the Hornets and was outstanding in his second start. Wells went 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit with 6 strikeouts.
Behind a strong performance from Wells, the Hornet offense began to click, jumping out to another early lead. The offense was led by Dylan Filipiak, who collected three hits on the day, including two doubles, and Nick McConnell, who collected three RBI's for the Hornets.
The Hornets were able to get back in the win column and take a very important game one from the Warriors, winning 8-3
April 14, 2026 - Willowbrook - W 16-6 The Hornets hosted the Warriors for the second game of the series. Andrew O'Rourke and John Bauer were the pitchers for the Hornets and were excellent, combining for only 4 runs and 6 strikeouts.
The Hornet offense stayed hot, putting up a season-best 16 runs, including 10 runs in the fourth inning. The Hornets put together great plate appearances, working 10 walks and collecting 8 hits to get their first slaughter of the season, beating the Warriors 16-6
April 16, 2026 - Willowbrook - L 8-5 The Hornets travelled back to Willowbrook looking to collect their first series sweep of the season.
The game was back and forth the entire day, with the Warriors jumping out to an early lead 3-0 and the Hornets battling back to tie the game 5-5 going into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Hornets eventually ran out of gas and could not hold off the Warriors any longer. Willowbrook scored three runs in the sixth to avoid the sweep and beat the Hornets 8-5.
April 18, 2026 - Downers Grove North - W 10-9 The Hornets travelled to take on Downers Grove North after their first big series win over Willowbrook.
The Hornets found themselves in a deep hole early again, trailing 5-0 entering the fourth inning. Despite being down, the Hornets never give up and always battle back in games. The Hornet offense was able to score four runs thanks to the bottom of the order in Colin Bills, Cameron Mitchell, and John Pitsoulakis, to bring the game back within reach.
The offense continued to roll, scoring 6 more runs to give the Hornets a 10-8 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. Entering the seventh, Jude Galla was on the mound for the Hornets and had kept the Trojan offense quiet for the middle part of the game. Galla got a quick first out and then was in trouble as the Trojans were able to string together a few hits to bring the game to 10-9.
Josh Wells came in to close with the bases loaded and one out. Wells got the next two batters to strike out and secure a huge road victory for the Hornets, 10-9.
Freshman The Hinsdale South Freshman travled to Willowbrook Monday. Tyler Beringer opened the game for the Hornets. The pitcher gave up six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six and walking eight.Owen Miller threw one inning of no-run in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking none. Santiago Lopez drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Hornets with three runs batted in. The center fielder went 2-for-4 on the day.Collin Bills, Jack Davy, and Sanitago Lopez each collected two hits. The Hornets would go on to win 10-5.
Tuesday the Willowbrook Warriors traveled to Darien to take on the Hornets. Santiago Lopez led things off on the mound for the freshman. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and 13 runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking seven.Owen Miller pitched four innings in relief for South. The hurler surrendered six hits and one run while, striking out five and walking three.Hornets's JJ Bodik, the number eight hitter, led the freshman with two hits in two at bats. Ryan Calistro and Owen Miller each drove in one run for South. Willowbrook 15 Hinsdale South 2.
The Hornets took on Downers Grove North Saturday. Jack Davy stepped on the mound first for the South Freshman The starter surrendered three hits and four runs over two innings, striking out one and walking five. Will Murphy led the Hornets with three hits. Mason Cable provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Freshman with seven runs batted in, 4 coming from a grand slam. Ethan Alavi and Jack Davy led the team with three walks each. The Hornets almost completed the comeback. Downers North 16 Hinsdale South 14.

Varsity April 6th, 2026 - Downers G. South - W 3 - 2 (3 - 6, 1 - 0) The Hornets started conference play with a rivalry matchup at home against the Downers Grove South Mustangs. The Hornets entered the matchup with a 2-6 record while the Mustangs came in sitting at 4-4. Braeden Koperski got the start for the Hornets and settled in to throw 6 strong innings in a great pitchers duel. After a rocky first inning Braeden threw the next 5 innings scoreless with 6 strikeouts and 1 earned run. Ethan Rodriguez also through a perfect inning in relief.
The Hornets struggled to get through the stellar pitching performance from the Mustangs, but were able to break through in the 7th. Alex Dunwoody and Jack McDaniel worked leadoff walks followed by a sac bunt by Louie Dusek, which was thrown away by the opposing pitcher to score the 1st run of the inning. Louie then stole second base, and scored our 3rd run after a single up the middle by Ben Miller. Great job battling through a tough pitcher by the Hornets offense.
April 7th, 2026 - Downers G. South - W 4 - 3 (4 - 6, 2 - 0) Game 2 of the series with Downers Grove South was a cold road game that featured another pitching duel. The Hornets came out on top thanks to a gutsy performance on the mound and timely hitting in a big 3rd inning.
Frank Waitkus turned in his best outing of the season so far, throwing 5.2 innings with 9 strikeouts and 1 earned run allowed. Frank set the tone for the day and kept the Mustang offense in check. Bubba Bozzi came in relief to get out of a big bases loaded jam in the 6th, and Jack Madden slammed the door shut in the 7th, earning him his 1st save of the year.
Alex Dunwoody continued to swing a hot bat, going 3 for 4 on the day with a run scored. Jack McDaniel scorched 2 balls to go 2 for 3, while ben miller also added 2 hits on the day. Drew Baughman was 1 for 3 with an rbi and a steal to help add to the Hornets offense as well.
April 9th, 2026 - Downers G. South - L 2 - 10 (4 - 7, 2 - 1) The Hornets dropped the final game of the series against the Mustangs in a tough loss at home. The Hornets move on to play York on Saturday and then our next conference opponent in Willowbrook starting Monday.
Ben Miller started game 3 on the mound and stuck out 5 Mustangs with 0 walks across 4 innings pitched. Breckin Bozzi, Ethan Rodriguez, and Alex Dunwoody all tallied an inning each with 5 total strikeouts across the group as well.
The offense was stalled out thanks to superb pitching from the Mustangs as only Frank Waitkus and Ben Miller were able to tally hits on the day. Frank knocked a late double and was scored by Ben to help trigger some offense. Louie Dusek, Ben, and Drew Baughman all had walks on the day as well.
April 11th, 2026 - York - L 4 - 9 (4 - 8, 2 - 1) In the second crossover game of the season, the Hornets traveled to York high school to take on the Dukes. The Hornets entered the game after taking the first conference series of the year and hoped to get the offense rolling.
Jack Bauer started on the mound and tossed 2 innings holding the stout Dukes offense in check enough to pass off to the bullpen. Connor Jaffrey made his Varsity debut in relief and was stellar, tossing 3 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 3 Duke hitters. Taylor Mazur also had an inning of relief work, striking out 1.
The Hornet bats had more life on the saturday game, with Alex Dunwoody and Frank Waitkus both going 2 for 3 on the day. Alex had 2 RBIs, while Frank and Jack McDaniel each had 1 a piece. Ben Miller also scored 2 runs with 2 walks on the day.
JV April 6, 2026 - Downers Grove South - L 9-2 The Hornets opened up conference play against their rivals, Downers Grove South, after a long spring break
The Hornets opened up the scoring in the top of the second inning on an Andrew O'Rourke single, plating Cash Hipskind's leadoff double. From that point on, the Hornet bats were held at bay and were only able to plate one run the rest of the game. The DGS hitters were able to stay patient and capitalize on the walks and errors made by the Hornets defensively, scoring in all but two innings. The Hornets could not overcome their mistakes and would lose 9-2
April 7, 2026 - Downers Grove South - L 10-4 In game two of the series, the Hornets hosted the Mustangs with Josh Wells getting the start.
The Mustang hitters stayed patient and capitalized on opportunities, plating 7 runs in the first inning. The Hornets, in a deep hole, did their best to climb out, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth with RBI's from Andrew O'Rourke, Jackson Bucholz, and Jude Galla. Despite the push, the Hornets would drop game two to the Mustangs 10-3
April 9, 2026 - Downers Grove South - L 10-9 The Hornets travelled back to Downers Grove South for a pivotal game 3, looking to avoid the sweep. The Hornets jumped out to an early 6-0 lead, scoring in each of the first three innings. The Hornet offense was led by Nick McConnell, Jackson Bucholz, and Andrew O'Rourke, each with two RBI's in the game
Despite the early lead, the Mustangs would come roaring back to take the lead 10-6 heading into the last inning. The Hornets, refusing to give up, were able to score 3 runs to bring the score to 10-9 but were unable to get a hit when it mattered most, falling to the Mustangs 10-9 April 11, 2026, York - L 8-4 On Saturday, the Hornets took on York in their conference crossover matchup.
The Hornets jumped out to a first-inning lead with a Nick McConnell single plating Dylan Filipiak from second base. York was able to counter the offense, scoring four runs of their own to take an early 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the fourth, the Hornets were able to tie the game on a Dylan Filipiak base hit, scoring Andrew O'Rourke and Jeff Sisto.
The Horent offense after that went cold and could not match the runs scored by the Dukes. The Hornets would fall to York 8-4 Freshman Hinsdale South fell to Downers Grove South 11-7 on Monday. Will Murphy led things off on the hill for the Hornets. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking six. Tyler Beringer led South with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup.Collin Bills and Santiago Lopez each collected two hits for Hinsdale.
Tuesday Downers Grove South visited the Hornets at home. Tyler Beringer began the game for South. The pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (three earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out six and walking three. Ryan Calistro and Jack Davy each collected one hit for the Freshman Hornets. The team also tallied seven walks for the game.Chase Doyle and Ethan Alavi led the team with two bases on balls each. Downers South would go on to win 11-1.
The South Freshman went back to Downers Grove South to wrap up the season series Thursday. The Hornets opened the scoring in the second after Ethan Alavi hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.Santiago Lopez started on the mound for South. The starter allowed two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out three and walking five. Will Murphy and Ethan Alavi each drove in one run for the Freshman. A;avi also walked three times. The Hornets would drop the third game to Downers, 13-3.

The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and nine runs over two innings, striking out none and walking seven. Bills led the team with one run batted in. Jack Davy stole two bases. Varsity March 30, 2026 - Northeast - W 14 - 2 (2 - 3, 0 - 0) Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets defeated Northeast Varsity Eagles 14-2 on Monday at Northeast High School thanks in part to nine runs in the seventh inning. Baughman singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, McDaniel singled, scoring one run, Monogios drew a walk, scoring one run, Waitkus singled, scoring one run, Miller doubled, scoring two runs, and Dusek hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
A home run to right field by McDaniel gave Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets the lead, 3-1, in the top of the fifth. Koperski earned the win for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out two and walking five. Lee stepped on the hill first for Northeast Varsity Eagles. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and three runs over four innings, striking out one and walking three. Madden collected the save. Rodriguez appeared in relief for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets.
March 31, 2026 - Big Walnut - L 2 - 8 (2 - 4, 0 - 0) Waitkus took the loss for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets. The right-handed pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out one and walking two.
Dunwoody and Dusek each collected two hits for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets. Waitkus led Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets turned two double plays in the game.
April 2nd, 2026 - Cullman Co. - L 10 - 1 (2 - 5, 0 - 0) Bauer took the loss for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets. The pitcher went four and one-third innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking five.
O'Connor, Miller, Baughman, and Waitkus each collected one hit for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets.
April 3rd, 2026 - Hamilton SE - L 16 - 0 (2 - 6, 0 - 0) Miller took the loss for Hinsdale South Varsity Hornets. The starter went two and one-third innings, allowing five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking six.

Varsity March 24, 2026 - Lyons Township - L 0 - 11 (1 - 2, 0 - 0) The Hornets met their first West Suburban Silver opponent on the road to start out our crossover conference play for the season. In a one sided matchup, the Hornets fell to the Lions.
Ben Miller got his first start and came out firing in the first 2 innings but was chased from the game in the 3rd. Ben had 3 strikeouts through 3 innings. Ethan Rodriguez and Ramus Jenkins came in to close out the game, each with 1 strikeout a piece. The Hornet offense stalled out after a strong showing in our previous game. Vasili Monogios provided 2 hits and a stolen base, but the Hornets were not able to muster up much more.
March 25, 2026 - Glenbard South - L 0 - 2 (1 - 3, 0 - 0) The Hornets dropped a disappointing loss to Glenbard South moving to 1 - 3 on the season. Jack Bauer made his season debut on the mound and threw 2.1 innings striking out 2 and limiting the Glenbard South offense to 2 hits. Breckin Bozzi came in for relief and fired off 3.1 innings allowing 0 runs in a great long relief outing. Jack Madden threw the final 1.1 innings striking out 3 while maintaining his 0.00 era for the season.
There was little offense to show for the Hornets who had 5 hitters tally hits but 0 runs earned from them. Jack McDaniel was 1 for 3 out of the leadoff spot, but hit the ball hard a few times. Drew Baughman stayed hot, going 1 for 2 with a late inning single.
JV March 24, 2026 - Lyons Township - L 12-0 The Hornets hosted a very good Lyons Township team and were outmatched this early in the season. The LT offense jumped out to a quick lead, and the Hornets were unable to put together any sort of offense, only collecting 2 total hits. LT would give the Hornets their first loss of the season, 12-0
March 25, 2026 - Glenbard South - W 9-1 The Hornets, looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season, travelled to take on Glenbard South. The Hornets' offense jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with RBI's from Connor Jaffrey, Nick McConnell, and an RBI double from Louie Dusek. The offense continued to hit, and as the lineup turned over, Nick McConnell and Louie Dusek were able to hit two more RBI doubles. The Pitching duo of Louie Dusek and Jude Galla were lights out for the Hornets, only allowing 1 run and combining for 11 strikeouts. The strong performance from the Hornets got them back on track as they secured a 9-1 win
Freshman Lyons Township visited Hinsdale South on Tuesday. The Hornets got on the board in the first inning after Ethan Alavi scored after tagging up.Tyler Beringer opened the game for South. The hurler surrendered three hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Collin Bills and Ryan Calistro each collected two hits. Wil Murphy, Bills, Alavi, and Calistro each drove in one run for the Hornets. It wouldn’t be enough to walk away with the victory Lyons 10 Hinsdale South 4.
The Hinsdale South Freshman traveled to Glenbard South Wednesday. Collin Bills drove in four runs on three hits, three of which came in the 2nd inning on a base-clearing double. Josh Wells stepped on the mound first for South. The starter allowed three hits and two runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking six. The Freshman Hornets accumulated 12 hits in the game and would go on to win, their first of the season, 9-4.
Week of March 16th
Varsity March 20, 2026 - Burlington Central - L 2 - 6 (0 - 1, 0 - 0) The Hornets kicked off the 2026 season with a long trip up north to Burlington Central. In a tightly contested game, the Hornets faltered late to drop the season opener 2 - 6.
Braeden Koperski got the call for opening day on the mound, and delivered a strong 2.2 innings before hitting his pitch count. Braeden had 3 strikeouts and surrendered 2 earned runs before passing off to Ethan Rodriguez. Ethan picked up where he left off last year, with a scoreless 1.1 innings. Breckin Bozzi finished the game with 2 innings pitched and 2 strikeouts.
The offense started off slow before exploding in the 6th inning with back to back to back doubles from Jack McDaniel, Ben Miller, and Frank Waitkus. Taylor Mazur also reached on an infield single earlier in the game.
March 21, 2026 - TF South - W 9 - 0 (1 - 1, 0 - 0) TF South came to Alumni field for the home opener of 2026. In a big bounce back game, the Hornets offense responded to score 9 runs in route to a big win. Frank Waitkus started game 2 and threw 5 scoreless innings. Frank was dominant with 6 strikeouts to 1 walk, while managing some tricky situations. Jack Madden came in for his 1st varsity appearance and fired off 2 clean innings, striking out 3.
8 Hornet hitters had hits on the day. Alex Dunwody was 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs and knocking in 4 RBIS all out of the leadoff spot. Jack McDaniel had a 2 RBI single late in the game, and Ben Miller, Braeden Koperski, and Drew Baughman all had RBIs of their own as well. Braeden and Drew both collected multiple hits on the day, each tallying 2.
JV March 20, 2026 - Burlington Central - W 3-2 The Hornets opened up the season at home against Burlington Central.
Connor Jaffrey got the opening day start for the Hornets and delivered a very strong first outing, going 3.2 innings with 2 earned runs and 5 strikeouts. John Bauer came in relief and shut down the Rockets, going 2.1 innings with 4 strikeouts and 0 runs.
The Hornet offense was slow until the bottom of the 5th inning, where the Hornets trailed 2-0. After a few walks and a hit by pitch, Louie Dusek came up with 2 outs and the bases loaded. Dusek lined a bases-clearing double over the centerfielder's head, which would give the Hornets a 3-2 lead. Bauer would hold this lead, giving the Hornets their first win of the season.
March 21, 2026 - TF South - W 22-1 The Hornets looked to build off their first win as they traveled to TF South on Saturday. Andrew
O'Rourke started on the mound for the Hornets and delivered a strong outing, going 3 innings, allowing only 2 hits and 1 earned run. The Hornet offense was hot right from the beginning of the game, scoring 11 runs in the first inning.
Nick McConnell was the leader of the offense, collecting 2 hits, 3 walks, and 3 RBIs. The Hornets would go on to rout TF South 22-1 and pick up their second win of the season
Freshman The Burlington Central defeated Hinsdale South Freshman Hornets 13-3 on Friday. Josh Wells started on the mound for the Hornets, allowing one hit and two runs over two innings. He struck out six and walked three.JJ Bodik and Ethan Alavi each collected one hit for the Hornets. Bodik, Waitkus, and Alavi each drove in one run.
The South Hornets drop another one Saturday versus a strong Minooka team. Santiago Lopez stepped on the hill first for the Hornets. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and two runs over two innings, striking out five and walking three. Ethan Alavi collected the only hit of the game for South. Final 8-0.
