The Girl’s Water Polo Team finished their season on Monday with a loss to Nequa Valley High School. Playing for the Hornets were: Cam Beringer, Sarah Cardenas, Ieva Heininga, Taryn Bazon, Tia Tomov, Caroline Dunford and Autumn Lambke. With low numbers, the girls played hard all season giving every game 100%. Great job girls on a wonderful season!

Week of May 5th
The Girl’s Water Polo Team lost to Homewood Flossmore on Monday and while dealing with an injury, lost to Hinsdale Central on Wednesday. Top players for the games were Taryn Bazon, Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke, Ieva Heininga, Cam Beringer, Tia Tomov and Nora Schaefer. Please join us as we travel to Neuqua Valley on Monday for our IHSA sectional play-off game starting at 5:00 P.M. Good luck Team!
Week of April 28th
The Girl’s Water Polo Team lost to Argo High School last week. Though low in players, the Hornet’s played hard the entire game bringing the score within 4 points. Lead scorer was Caroline Dunford. Contributing on offense and defense were: Cam Beringer, Nora Schaefer, Ieva Heininga, Taryn Bazon and Autumn Lambke. On goalie for the Hornet’s was Tia Tomov. This upcoming week will be busy for the Team with three games scheduled. On Monday, we travel to Homewood Flossmore. On Tuesday we travel to Main East for a make-up game and on Thursday we will compete against Hinsdale Central. Keep up the hard work girls!
Week of April 21st The Girl’s Water Polo Team headed north on Friday Evening and were defeated by Warren High School. With only seven players, the girls played hard throughout the whole game with a 10 point comeback in the third quarter. Top offensive players included: Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke, and Ieva Heininga. Defensively were: Cam Beringer, Diana Banian and Nora Schaffer. Thank You to Taryn Bazon for stepping up to play goalie with an outstanding performance. On Monday, we will travel to Argo High School to take on the Argonauts at 5:00 P.M.!
Week of April 14th
The Girl’s Water polo Team lost to Richard’s High School on Thursday evening. The game went back and forth with the score as the girls continued to play hard until the end! Lead scorers for the Hornets were: Taryn Bazon, Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke and Ieva Heininga. We have two games this upcoming week against Main East on Tuesday and Warren on Friday (both games are away).
Week of April 7th
On Thursday evening, the Girl’s Water Polo Team lost a close and well played game to Riverside Brookfield High School. The girls did an amazing job on both offense and defense with low team players and no substitutions. Top players included: Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke, Cam Beringer, Nora Schaefer, Diana Banian and special thanks for a job well done in the goalie position to Tea Tomov. Our next game will be in Oak Lawn on Thursday evening as we travel to Richard’s High School for a game at 5:00.
Week of March 24th The Girl’s Water Polo Team lost at Saint Charles East on Monday evening. The Team had a rough match with only 8 players against a strong Coop team of Saint Charles East and Plainfield High Schools. Our leading scorer with 5 goals was Autumn Lambke. Strong defenders included: Taryn Bazon, Caroline Dunford, Cam Beringer, Nora Schaefer and Diana Banian. Our next game is scheduled for April 8 as we take on the Morton Mustangs at 5:00 in our home pool.
Week of March 17th
The Girl’s Water Polo Team lost to Lincoln Way West on Tuesday evening. Our top scorers for the night included: Taryn Bazon and Autumn Lambke. On Thursday, the team recognized our seniors for all of their hard work and dedication to the program. Thank You seniors for helping make the girl’s water polo team a success. Congratulations to: Caroline Dunford, Ieva Heininga, Sarah Cardenas and Diana Banian. The water polo team defeated Leyden with outstanding play by all. Leading scorers included: Caroline Dunford, Cam Beringer, Taryn Bazon and Autumn Lambke. Our defensive players were: Nora Schaefer, Tia Tomov and Diana Banian. Our goalie for the evening was Sarah Cardenas delivering many outstanding saves! On Monday, 3/24, we are traveling to Saint Charles for a game against Plainfield beginning at 5:00 P.M.
Week of March 10th
The Girl’s Water Polo Team is back in the pool for another exciting season of play. The team is led by seniors: Caroline Dunford, Dyana Banian , Ieva Heininga and Sarah Cardenas. Congratulations goes out to the girl’s on their win Friday evening against the Chargers of Stagg High School. Leading scorers for the Hornets included: Cam Beringer, Ieva Heininga, Taryn Bazon, Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke and newcomer to the team this year, Nora Schaeffer. Please join us next Tuesday as the girls compete against Lincoln Way West and Thursday for our Senior Night against Leyden. Both games will be at Hinsdale South starting at 5:00 in the pool!
