2025 Girls' Soccer Weekly Highlights


Week of May 26th

Tuesday May 27th, Hinsdale South 1, Wheaton St. Francis 4
The Hornets finished their season with a tough battle against Wheaton St. Francis in the sectional semi-final on Tuesday evening. The Hornets battled and fell short putting an end to a very successful season. Sophomore Brynn Diedrich got the Hornets on the board making it 1-1 for part of the first half. Wheaton capitalized on their opportunities making it a 4-1 end result. The Hornets finished a great winning season, with an overall record of 18-6, and as conference champions! The Hornets look forward to coming back next season with an abundance of talented returners, and want to thank their superstar seniors for an incredible four years with the program. Go Hornets!

Week of May 19th

Tuesday May 20th, Hinsdale South 8, Hancock 0
The Hornets put on a finishing clinic with an 8-0 victory to advance to the regional final. Sophomore goal scorer Brynn Diedrich started the Hornets off with a bang in the third minute by dribbling through traffic and taking a shot that deflected off the Hancock defense for a goal. The Hornets delivered a commanding 8-0 win on the pitch last night, showcasing chemistry, hustle, and leadership from all levels of the roster. The second goal came from pure grit as freshman Mia Mitrovic battled through a  few midfielders, ultimately sending a sharp pass to senior captain Audrey Atkinson, who calmly tapped it in to open the scoring at 26 minutes in. The dynamic duo struck again soon after, this time off a well-placed corner by Diedrich that found Atkinson waiting at the back post to walk it into the net. Brynn continued to make her presence known, notching a goal of her own with an assist from Mitrovic just before half as the rain poured down in buckets onto both teams. Goal number five was a textbook example of team play, as junior Dulce Serna slotted a precise assist that Atkinson finished for her hat trick. Diedrich added to the tally with a steal and strong solo drive into the box before finishing with confidence. Diedrich scored again with a nearly identical play, intercepting a pass and finding the back of the net with help from Atkinson. The eighth and final goal came from the back line, as junior captain Alyssa Watson stepped up from defense and launched a powerful long-range shot that sailed past the keeper and into the back of the net, sealing the dominant win. With a complete team effort and contributions from every grade level, the Hornets made a strong statement on the field and set the tone for the rest of the playoffs. The Hornets will compete for the Regional final title on Friday at home in a rematch with Glenbard South.

Friday May 23th, Hinsdale South 2, Glenbard South 1
For the third consecutive year, the Hornets claimed the regional title at home with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Glenbard South! Jess Aillon opened the scoring with a beautiful header off a perfectly placed corner from Brynn Diedrich. The second goal came from Audrey Atkinson, who made a sharp run to the near post and flicked in a great ball served by Molly Curley from the right wing. The team battled from start to finish, with a standout defensive performance across the backline. Paige Lilek was phenomenal in goal, making 10 key saves to secure the win. Kennedy Ruff was missed but the team showed grit without her prowess in the midfield. Kennedy dominated at State and finished in 2nd place in the 300 hurdles! Everyone will be back in the Semi-Sectional game on Tuesday vs St. Francis.

Week of May 12th

Monday May 12th, Hinsdale South 0, St Laurence 1
The Hornets fought hard for a full 80 minutes to unfortunately fall short to the St Laurence vikings. The girls battled for each 50/50 ball and put up a good fight. St Laurence capitalized on an opportunity before the half taking the lead. The Hornets came out strong in the second half winning almost every ball out of the air. They connected well and had many crisp passes strung together. Unfortunately the girls could not finish their opportunities and fell short in a final 1-0 result. The Hornets will fight for the conference title on Tuesday May 13th against the Proviso East Pirates. 

Tuesday May 13th, Hinsdale South 7, Proviso East 0
The Hornets won the conference championship in style with a solid 7-0 victory against the Proviso East Pirates. The Hornets left no doubt in their pursuit of the West Suburban Conference title, delivering a commanding 7-0 victory in the conference championship game. Senior Audrey Atkinson led the offensive charge with a stellar four-goal performance, capping off her final conference season in dominant fashion. Sophomore standout Brynn Diedrich added to the firepower with two goals and two assists, showcasing her versatility and vision on the field. Loolia Zeitoun added a goal of her own to round out the Hornets’ scoring barrage. The Hornets also saw strong support in the attacking third from Mia Mitrovic and Jessica Aillon, who each contributed an assist in the well-rounded offensive display. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Paige Lilek was a steady force in net, recording three key saves and earning the shutout to preserve the Hornets' clean sheet. With the win, the Hornets secured the West Suburban Conference Championship and capped off a memorable season with a dominant team performance. The Hornets will begin regional play next Tuesday May 20th, against the Hancock Eagles.

Week of May 5th

Tuesday May 6th, Hinsdale South 3, Downers Grove South 2
In a thrilling conference matchup, Hinsdale South battled back from a 2-0 first-half deficit to defeat rival Downers Grove South for the first time since 2017. With just three minutes left in the first half, freshman Mia Mitrovic sparked the comeback, slotting home a goal off a right-wing pass from Audrey Atkinson. Fueled by momentum, the Hornets dominated the second half. The equalizer came with 12 minutes remaining when Molly Curley’s throw-in found Brynn Diedrich, who beat the defender and keeper to level the score. The game-winner followed shortly after when Audrey Atkinson made a key steal, drove into the box, and buried the decisive goal. The Hornets held strong defensively in the final minutes to secure the comeback victory on the road. Paige Lilek had 10 big saves in the game as well. 

​Thursday May 8th, Hinsdale South 4, Addison Trail 0
Hinsdale South’s nine seniors were honored in style as the Hornets delivered a commanding 4–0 win over Addison Trail—a team that had beaten them in their last three matchups. The victory not only made for a memorable Senior Night, but also marked a key step toward a conference title. The scoring began at the 16-minute mark when Audrey Atkinson drew a hard foul in the box and unselfishly handed the penalty kick to Brynn Diedrich, who drilled it past the keeper. The Hornets held a narrow 1–0 lead at halftime but came out firing in the second half. Goal two came off a heads-up steal by Sloane Kiefer, who found Atkinson for the assist to Diedrich’s second goal of the night. The third goal followed a corner from Diedrich, with Kennedy Ruff charging in at the back post to finish emphatically. The final goal came with two minutes to play, as Vivian Ling slipped a beautiful through ball to Mia Mitrovic, who sealed the win with a composed finish. Defensively, the Hornets were locked in, with a strong backline performance and five saves from Paige Lilek to secure the clean sheet.

Saturday May 10th, Hinsdale South 1, Providence 3
On a hot Saturday morning, Hinsdale South faced a tough road challenge against undefeated Providence Catholic. The Hornets showed grit and resilience, holding the powerful Providence offense to a scoreless first half thanks to disciplined defense and stellar goalkeeping from Paige Lilek. Despite relentless pressure, the Hornets kept the game level until a fortunate bounce allowed Providence to break through with 20 minutes remaining. Hinsdale South quickly answered back—Audrey Atkinson buried a goal off a perfectly placed corner from Brynn Diedrich to even the score at 1–1. As the Hornets looked to hang on for a hard-earned draw, Providence managed to slip one in during a chaotic scramble in the box, then added a late goal in transition as Hinsdale South pushed numbers forward. Though the 3–1 result wasn’t in their favor, the Hornets’ effort was outstanding. Lilek tallied 15 saves, and Kennedy Ruff was a force in the air, denying nearly 10 scoring opportunities. The defense battled valiantly all game against a high-powered attack.

Week of April 28th

Tuesday April 29th, Hinsdale South 5, Willowbrook 0
The Hornets came out firing as Brynn Diedrich capitalized on a rebound from Audrey Atkinson’s shot to score just 20 seconds into the match, setting the tone early with a 1-0 lead. The team continued to control possession and struck again in the 22nd minute, this time with Diedrich delivering a precise cross to Atkinson, who slotted it home to make it 2-0. Just moments later, the dynamic duo switched roles — Atkinson played a perfect slot ball to Diedrich, who buried the chance for a crisp finish and a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. The Hornets stayed aggressive in the second half. Freshman Mia Mitrovic delivered a quality cross five minutes in, and Atkinson finished for her second goal of the night, pushing the score to 4-0. Nine minutes later, Diedrich tallied her third goal of the match after intercepting a goal kick from the Warriors' defense and finishing with composure. Goalkeepers Paige Lilek and Nina Kremper combined for yet another shutout, anchoring a strong defensive effort. The Hornets improve to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play. 

Thursday May 1, Hinsdale South 5, Marist 0
The Hornets continued their dominant run with an impressive 5-0 victory over Marist, showcasing sharp offensive execution and a rock-solid defense. Jumping out to a 3-0 lead by halftime, the team maintained pressure in the second half, adding two more goals to seal the shutout win. The scoring began when Audrey Atkinson finished calmly after receiving a nice long ball from Molly Curley, giving the Hornets early momentum. Shortly after, Kennedy Ruff electrified the crowd with a powerful header goal off a well-placed corner kick from Brynn Diedrich. Diedrich then added a goal of her own, beating a defender with a confident dribble after being set up by a clever assist from Vivian Ling. In the second half, Atkinson and Diedrich connected again — this time Atkinson played a perfectly weighted through ball up the middle. Diedrich collected it in stride, split the defense, and chipped the goalkeeper with a composed finish to make it 4-0. The final goal came from another Diedrich corner, which found Mia Mitrovic inside the box. Mitrovic took a shot that Sloane Kiefer redirected into the 6-yard box for a clean tap-in. On the defensive end, Paige Lilek anchored the backline with six key saves, earning yet another shutout in goal. The win marked another complete team effort, as the Hornets controlled possession, created high-quality chances, and remained defensively disciplined throughout the match.

Week of April 21st​

​Tuesday April 22nd, Hinsdale South 5, Leyden 0
The Hornets wasted no time asserting their dominance Tuesday night, cruising to an impressive 5-0 win on their home field. Senior standout Audrey Atkinson set the tone early, scoring just 90 seconds into the match with a stunning header off a perfectly placed cross from sophomore Brynn Diedrich. The duo struck again only five minutes later, with Diedrich slicing through the defense and setting up Atkinson for a clinical finish to put the Hornets up 2-0. The Hornets continued to pour it on, as junior Dulce Serna delivered a beautiful assist to Diedrich, who volleyed the ball into the back of the net for a commanding 3-0 lead. At the 20-minute mark, Atkinson again showcased her attacking prowess, taking on defenders and finding the net after another precise assist from Diedrich, making it 4-0. Just a minute later, the roles reversed. Atkinson turned provider, assisting Diedrich for her second goal of the night and capping off a five-goal first half for the Hornets. The second half saw the Hornets focus on possession, connecting passes and controlling the pace of the game while the defense stayed solid. Goalkeepers Paige Lilek and Nina Kremper combined for the shutout, making sure the clean sheet stayed intact. With this dominant performance, the Hornets move to their next challenge as they head on the road Thursday to take on Glenbard East.

Thursday April 24th, Hinsdale South 2, Glenbard East 1
The Hornets hit the road Thursday and came away with a gritty 2-1 win over Glenbard East, showcasing resilience and teamwork in a hard-fought match. Sophomore Brynn Diedrich opened the scoring early in the first half, skillfully weaving through defenders and finishing off a perfect touch assist from Sloane Kiefer at the top of the box. Midfielder Kennedy Ruff was instrumental in keeping the pressure on, dominating the midfield and consistently winning the ball off Glenbard East’s goal kicks to spark the Hornet offense. Despite the strong start, a few defensive missteps allowed Glenbard East to sneak in a goal, sending the game into halftime tied at 1-1. Senior leader Audrey Atkinson gave the Hornets the spark they needed to start the second half, winning a header in the middle of the field and making an impressive 45-yard run past defenders before calmly beating the goalkeeper to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead. From there, it turned into a defensive battle. Molly Curley joined the defense in this match with smart, composed play, while Olivia Harding made key clearances to shut down Glenbard East’s attacks. Goalkeeper Paige Lilek came up huge with nine saves, preserving the Hornets' lead and securing the win. The Hornets showed their toughness and composure throughout the second half, earning another impressive victory on the road.

Saturday April 26th, Hinsdale South 8 IC Catholic Prep 0
The Hornets continued their winning streak in stunning fashion, protecting their home field with an 8-0 rout in front of an excited crowd. It took less than a minute for the Hornets to strike. Kennedy Ruff launched a long throw-in to Brynn Diedrich, who fired a shot off the front post. Senior Vivin Ling was perfectly positioned to bury the rebound for her first goal of the season just 40 seconds into the match. The Hornets continued to capitalize on throw-in opportunities. Alyssa Watson delivered a perfect throw to Diedrich, who quickly found Audrey Atkinson for the second goal. Moments later, another Watson throw found Diedrich, who headed a flick to Atkinson, who calmly took it into the box and finished for her second goal of the day. The attack didn’t slow down. Freshmen Ellie Salazar and Loolia Zeitoun connected up the middle, setting up Diedrich to steal the ball from a defender and beautifully chip it over the keeper with her left foot to make it 4-0. Alyssa Watson earned an assist this time on another long throw-in that Diedrich finished with a clean strike for the fifth goal heading into halftime. In the second half, freshman Mia Mitrovic made an explosive run down the right side and fired a shot off the crossbar. Showing great awareness, Diedrich patiently waited before tapping in the rebound to make it 6-0. Brynn then turned provider, sending a strong cross into the box that the keeper pushed down to a waiting Loolia Zeitoun, who netted her first goal of the season to make it 7-0. Freshman defender Olivia Harding got a chance to push forward late in the match and made the most of it. Harding found a pass from Zeitoun at the top of the box and blasted a beautiful shot over the keeper for the Hornets’ final goal. She also had two dangerous shots and a perfectly placed corner kick while sneaking out of the back for a short 3 minutes. Defensively, the Hornets stayed solid all match. Freshman goalkeeper Nina Kremper made four key saves and earned her first start and a shutout. The Hornets continue to show incredible growth and chemistry with each game, setting the tone for an exciting stretch of the season.

Week of April 14th

​Tuesday April 15th- Hinsdale South 2, Morton 1
The Hornets battled against their first conference opponent, the Morton Mustangs. Both teams came out ready to battle for every 50/50 ball, and played physical through every play. Sophomore Brynn Diedrich found the back of the net with ease off a nice buildup on the right side of the field with an assist from Junior, Molly Curley. The Hornets continued to compete for every ball, leading to their next goal. Senior Audrey Atkinson buried her shot minutes later off a nicely timed slotted ball from Brynn to send the Hornets into the half with a 2-0 lead. The defense was strongly led by Senior Captain Fatima Mendoza and Junior Captain Alyssa Watson leading from the back and directing each play. The second half was fierce as the Mustangs came out battling. The Mustangs scored with 4 minutes remaining, but the Hornets protected their home field advantage to finish in a 2-1 conference victory. Goalkeeper Paige Lilek locked it down in the net with 11 incredible saves! Paige was awarded the player of the match by Chicagoland Soccer! The Hornets will be back on Thursday evening to protect their home turf against Glenbard South. 

Thursday April 17th- Hinsdale South 2, Glenbard South 4
The Hornets fought through a tough 80 minute battle to unfortunately fall short to Glenbard South. Glenbard South came out strong to put one in the back of the net in the first half. The Hornets did not give up the fight and responded making it 1-1 off a finish from Senior Audrey Atkinson on the head, assisted on a nice cross by Junior Molly Curley. The Hornets went into the half trailing 3-1. They came out firing on all cylinders for the second half and scored with a timely finish from Sloane Kiefer assisted by Atkinson from a corner from Brynn making it 3-2. The girls connected well and fought hard on defense, unfortunately falling short to a final score of 4-2. The Hornets will be back home Saturday morning against the Montini Broncos. 

Saturday April 19th, Hinsdale South 7, Montini 1
The Hornets put on a show with a beautiful 7-1 end result against the Montini Broncos. The Broncos took the lead early into the first half, but the Hornets did not shut down. Instead, the Hornets used the goal as fuel and turned the game around with an impressive high scoring game. To tie the game, Senior Audrey Atkinson with a rocket of a shot to the back of the net, earning her 100th career goal! Incredible! Followed by a corner kick from sophomore Brynn Diedrich served to Atkinson’s head making it 2-1. Another corner from Diedrich found by Junior Molly Curly on the head making it 3-1 going into halftime. The hornets were on fire! 
The beginning of the second half the Hornets decided to add a few more for good measure, with Diedrich dribbling 50 yards around the Broncos finding the back of the net with ease off a pass from Samantha Johnston, making it 4-1 early. Minutes later Diedrich found freshman Mia Mitrovic with a beautiful through ball with Mitrovic burying it making it 5-1. Mitrovic stepped up again moments later with a beautiful ball finding Atkinson again on the head making it 6-1! To put one last goal in, Diedrich found herself another goal off a free kick, making the final score 7-1. Goalkeeper Paige Lilek had 3 awesome saves and the defense held strong in front of her for 80 minutes. The Hornets will be back on Tuesday for another conference match against the Leyden Eagles on their home turf. 

Week of April 7th

Tuesday April 8th - Hinsdale South 3, Romeoville 2
The Hornets came out ready to rock with a quick goal from sophomore Brynn Diedrich assisted by sophomore defender Samantha Johnston off a throw-in within the first few minutes. The Cougars responded not too far after making it a tie game. The Cougars were crafty and able to sneak another goal in before half. The Hornets regrouped, and came out ready to score in the second half. After a foul in the box, Diedrich was rewarded with a penalty kick, burying it in the back of the net without hesitation. She found the net again with an absolute laser minutes later, taking the lead and giving herself a hatrick off a nice assist from junior Jessica Aillon. The Hornets connected and got their spark back, finishing the game with a 3-2 win! Coach Jen Belmonte also picked up her 100th win as a head coach. A great night for the Hornets, with a 4-2 winning record to begin the week. 

Thursday April 10th - Hinsdale South 5, Timothy Christian 0
The Hornets put on an offensive clinic Thursday night as they cruised to a commanding 5-0 win over non-conference opponent Timothy Christian in front of a home crowd. From the opening whistle, the Hornets applied relentless pressure, racking up 27 shots on goal and controlling possession throughout the match. The scoring began in spectacular fashion when senior Brynn Diedrich sprinted nearly 50 yards with the ball, using her speed to blow past defenders before slotting it into the net to put the Hornets up 1-0. Brynn wasn’t done—later in the first half, she delivered a dangerous corner kick into the box that resulted in a scramble, with Kennedy Ruff cleaning it up to double the lead. In the second half, the Hornets continued to attack with precision. Dulce Serna played a perfectly weighted slot ball into the box, and Brynn Diedrich made no mistake, netting her second goal of the night to make it 3-0. The fourth goal came courtesy of a long throw-in from Kennedy Ruff, who found Mia Mitrovic in the box. Mitrovic took advantage of the opportunity, burying her first goal of the season with confidence. Kennedy Ruff earned her second assist of the match on the fifth and final goal, sending a high ball into the box that Audrey Atkinson volleyed in beautifully off the bounce to cap off the scoring. The Hornets’ midfield passed with purpose and poise, and the defensive unit held strong to preserve the clean sheet. Goalkeeper Paige Lilek earned her first shutout of the season, thanks in part to excellent communication and cohesion among the backline. With this dominant performance, the Hornets showcased their depth, chemistry, and scoring power as they continue to build momentum this season.

Saturday April 12th - Hinsdale South 5, Riverside Brookfield 1
The Hornets took full advantage of the season’s first warm and sunny day, earning an impressive 5-1 win over non-conference opponent Riverside Brookfield at home. With 19 shots on goal and a relentless attacking presence, the Hornets looked sharp from start to finish as they moved to a strong midseason form. The scoring opened in style when Olivia Harding launched a long free kick deep into Riverside Brookfield territory. Audrey Atkinson expertly flicked the ball with her head to a perfectly timed run by Brynn Diedrich, who calmly finished the play to make it 1-0. Just before halftime, with only seconds on the clock, the Hornets struck again—Brynn took a quick corner kick that found Mia Mitrovic crashing into the box. Without hesitation, Mitrovic rose and headed the ball in with confidence, giving the Hornets a 2-0 advantage at the break. The Bulldogs came out strong in the second half with a few dangerous runs, but the Hornet defenders communicated well and stayed organized, limiting Riverside Brookfield to just one late goal. In the second half, Brynn Diedrich continued to shine. She pounced on a misplayed goal kick, stole the ball from a Bulldog defender, and buried her second goal of the match to extend the Hornet lead to 3-0. Audrey Atkinson then earned a penalty kick after being fouled in the box and calmly converted for the Hornets’ fourth. The final goal was a team effort, with Brynn slipping a smooth slotted pass into the box where Atkinson finished with composure for her second goal of the night. Goalkeeper Paige Lilek came up big with five saves and provided strong leadership in the back to help secure the win. The Hornets now shift their focus to a key conference matchup against Morton on Tuesday, riding the momentum of a dominant showing and a well-rounded team performance.

Week of March 24th

Tuesday, March 25th - Hinsdale South 7, Tinley Park 2
The Hornets secured a dominant 7-2 victory over Tinley Park in a thrilling soccer match that showcased impressive teamwork and individual performances. The game was well in hand by halftime, with the Hornets leading 5-1. Audrey Atkinson was the standout player, contributing 4 goals and 1 assist. The first of her goals came off a penalty kick, setting the tone early. Brynn Diedrich played a key role in the attack, tallying 1 goal and 3 assists, while Kennedy Ruff added a goal and an assist to her name. Brynn and Kennedy linked up for an unforgettable moment when Brynn's perfectly timed corner kick found Kennedy for a header to put the Hornets up 5-1 just before halftime. Dulce Serna also had a memorable moment, scoring her first goal of the season, a well-timed strike across the goal mouth after a brilliant pass from Brynn. Audrey followed up with another dazzling goal, dribbling through defenders to finish, and later provided a perfect assist for Kennedy to score. Hornets' goalkeeper Paige Lilek was crucial in the victory, making 8 saves and ensuring Tinley Park’s attempts were kept at bay.With this win, the Hornets improved their record to 2-2, demonstrating a well-rounded and powerful performance across the board.

Thursday, March 27th - Hinsdale South 4, Stagg 2
The Hornets powered past Stagg with a dominant 4-2 win in a high-pressure match. The Hornets were relentless on offense, firing off 30 shots on goal and earning 11 corner kicks, keeping the Stagg goalkeepers busy throughout the game. By halftime, the Hornets led 2-1, setting the stage for an impressive second half. Audrey Atkinson was once again a key contributor, recording 1 goal and 2 assists. Brynn Diedrich was clinical in front of goal, scoring 2 goals, while Elizabeth Salazar stepped up in the midfield and scored her first goal, securing the Hornets' 4th goal of the match. Her strike came off a bouncing ball across the box, and she finished it with precision. The Hornets' first goal was a thing of beauty: Audrey Atkinson sent in a perfect cross from the left side, and Brynn Diedrich timed her header flawlessly to open the scoring. For the second goal, Audrey found Brynn again with a perfectly weighted ball across the goal mouth, and Brynn buried it to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead at halftime. In the second half, Alyssa Watson, who was welcomed back after an injury, played the entire game solidly at center back and contributed to the attack with a brilliant long ball to Audrey, who controlled it and dribbled past the defenders to score. The defense was also outstanding, with every player contributing to maintaining solid possession and great defensive coverage. The team's overall passing and ball control were exceptional, making it difficult for Stagg to find any rhythm. With the win, the Hornets continue to show their strength and cohesion, as they move forward with confidence and are now 3-2 going into Spring Break.

Week of March 17th

Tuesday, March 18th - Hinsdale South 5, Elmwood Park 3
The Hinsdale South Hornets triumphed with a 5-3 victory in their exciting first game at Elmwood Park. The offense was on full display, with Brynn Diedrich providing a key corner kick assist to Kennedy Ruff, who put the ball in the back of the net for the opening goal. Brynn then teamed up with Audrey Atkinson, sending a perfect pass to Audrey, who finished for the Hornets' second goal. Brynn wasn't done though, she crushed a free kick over the keeper’s head, scoring an unassisted third goal shortly after. The Hornets' attack continued to shine in the second half when Olivia Harding took a beautifully placed free kick that found Audrey, who scored off the set piece. Brynn once again delivered a pinpoint corner kick assist to Audrey, who finished the play with a well-timed volley goal. On the defensive side, Paige Lilek stood strong in goal, making 7 crucial saves to help secure the win. The Hornets' offense and defense combined to earn them a well-deserved 5-3 victory.

Thursday, March 20th - Hinsdale South 0, Nazareth 1
The Hornets battled until the very last second to fall to Nazareth in a 0-1 loss. Kennedy Ruff dominated the midfield winning 50/50 balls out of the air every chance possible. The offense had many crisp combinations and passing sequences throughout the game. Both teams were battling for every ball, and were both hungry to find the back of the net. Fighting until the very last play, the hornets could not come out on top despite their best team efforts. Paige Lilek had ten saves in the net. 

Saturday, March 22nd, Hinsdale South 2, Kaneland 3 
The Hornets played a tough game, showing resilience and determination despite a 2-3 loss. Paige Lilek was a standout in goal, making 14 amazing saves and keeping the team in the game with her stellar performance. The Hornets came out strong with Brynn Diedrich scoring off an opening free kick, catching the opposing goalkeeper completely off guard right at the beginning of the match. As the game progressed, Olivia Harding delivered a perfect long ball to Brynn, who then beat the goalie to score once again. Fatima Mendoza Lopez showcased great leadership and organization on defense, helping to keep the team solid at the back, while Audrey Atkinson worked tirelessly to assist in defending and keeping the pressure on the opponents up top in the last ten minutes of the game. The Hornets fought hard throughout the game, but despite their efforts, they couldn’t quite hold off the opposing team, and the game ended in a narrow defeat, 2-3.
