The Girl's Water Polo Team finished their season last week with a loss to Homewood Flossmoor on Monday. On Wednesday, we celebrated our seniors and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavors. Brookelyn Bauer joined the team this year and was a tremendous asset to the team. Brookelyn learned the game quickly and soon became one of our lead scores. Maggie Johnston was a 4 year water polo player and a great leader both in the pool and out of the pool. Maggie was also one of our top players on both offense and defense. Thank You ladies for a wonderful season, you will both be missed! OnThursday, the team played their final game with a loss to Andrew High School. Leading scorers were: Autumn Lambke, Maggie Johnston and Brookelyn Bauer. On defense, we had: Sammy Aylward, Sarah Cardenas, Cameron Beringer and Maya Szafran. Congratulations on a great season everyone!
Week of April 22nd
On Monday, the Girl's Water Polo Team defeated Argo High School with a great team effort by all. Leading scorers were Maggie Johnston, Autumn Lambke and Brookelyn Baur. Congratulations to Cameron Beringer for scoring her first goal since joining Water polo! On Wednesday, the team played an exhausting game with only seven players (no subs) while losing to Main East. This week, the team has a tough week with four games coming up. On Monday, we are home against Homewood Flossmoor. Wednesday will be our "senior night", with a home game against Hinsdale Central. Thursday, we will travel to Andrew High School and lastly, on Friday, we go to Saint Charles North for an IHSA Sectional game. Good luck to the girls as they finish their season strong!
Week of April 15th
The Girl's Water Polo team defeated Warren Township High School on Friday evening. Top players on offense for the Hornets included: Autumn Lambke, Maggie Johnston, and Maya Szafran. On defense : Cam Beringer and Maggie Johnston. Our goalies for the evening while holding Warren off with 6 blocked shots were: Taryn Johnston, Ieva Heininga and Sarah Cardenas. Nice job on your win girls.
On Saturday, the girls placed fourth in a four team tournament against Carl Sandburg, Lincoln Way Central and Hinsdale Central. High scorers for the day included Maggie Johnston and Autumn Lambke. This week, the girls are away on both Monday against Argo Community High School and Main East on Wednesday. Good luck and keep up the outstanding work!
Week of April 8th
The Girl's Water Polo Team lost to Richards High School on Wednesday evening. Top players for the Hornets on both offense and defenses included: Maggie Johnston, Autumn Lambke, Ieva Heininga, Brookelyn Baur, Maya Szafran and Cam Beringer.
This upcoming week, the team is scheduled for a home game against Warren High School on Friday evening and will co host a quad tournament with Hinsdale Central at Hinsdale South on Saturday morning.
Week of April 1st
Congratulations to the Girl's Water Polo Team for their win on Tuesday evening against Leyden High School. Due to a total team effort, the girls were able to play strong and demonstrated tremendous team sportsmanship. Top players for the evening included: Maggie Johnston, Sammy Aylwart, Taryn Bazon, Caroline Dunford, Autumn Lambke, Ieva Heininga, Brookelyn Baur, Cam Beringer and Maya Szafran!
On Thursday, the girls lost to Saint Charles East . Top performances included: Brookelyn Baur on offense and Cam Beringer on her outstanding defense. The girls play again on Wednesday at Richards High School and again on Saturday as we host our own Water Polo Tournament.
Week of March 18th
The Girls Water Polo Team lost at home on Monday to Saint Charles North and on Wednesday to Riverside Brookfield. Top players on offense and defense were: Maggie Johnston, Autumn Lambke, Brookelyn Bauer and Ieva Heininga. The girls are not scheduled for any games this week due to Spring Break but will be ready for a busy schedule to continue next week as they take on Leyden and Saint Charles East!
Week of March 11th
On Monday, the Girls Water Polo Team lost to Lincoln Way West. Top scorer for the Hornets was Caroline Dunford. On Thursday evening, the girls were defeated by York High School by the score of 12-7. Top offensive players included: Maggie Johnston, Ieva Heininga, Brookelyn Baur, Autumn Lambke and Caroline Dunford. Top defensive players were: Camryn Beringer, Brookelyn Baur and Sam Aylwart. The team would like to welcome newcomer Maya Zafran to the squad. A special recognition goes out to Sarah Cardenas on her outstanding play in the goal on Thursday. Please join us on Monday evening at Hinsdale South as the Hornets take on Saint Charles North and Wednesday as we travel to Riverside Brookfield High School.
Week of March 4th
The Girls Water Polo Team is back in the pool for a brand new season of play. This year's team is led by returning senior Maggie Johnston and newcomer senior Brooklyn Baur. We would also like to welcome our only freshman to the team, Cam Beringer. The girls had a rough start this week with defeats from Metea Valley on Monday, Lyons Township on Thursday and A.A.Stagg on Friday evening. Due to our low numbers, the girls have to endure a lot with our limited number of subs. Top scorers for the week included: Autumn Lambke, Caroline Dunford, Ieva Heininga, Maggie Johnston and Taryn Bazon. Next week, we will travel to Lincoln Way West on Tuesday and York High School on Thursday evenings.
