Week of February 3rd On Monday, the Varsity Lady Hornet bowlers competed in the West Suburban Conference John Ryan tournament. The Hornets bowled a 4628 series and finished in 5th place. The team started off nicely with a first series of 2629 but struggled with a 2587 second series, which kept them from competing for a higher place. Sophomore Madison Witucki, with a 1128 series, led the Hornets and Senior Mandy Aylward added a 1018 series. Seniors Mandy Aylward, Bianca Bares, Diana Banian and Nathaly Garfias Fernandez were recognized as Academic All Conference bowlers and Sophomore Madison Witucki was recognized as an All Conference bowler, winning the conference individual championship.
On Friday, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA Regional tournament hosted by Andrew High School at Palos Lanes. The Hornets started well but struggled in the middle games. They finished with 4535 total pins and finished 7th at the Regional. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the Hornets with a 1172 series and Senior Mandy Aylward added a 1047 series and both qualified for Sectionals as individuals.
Week of January 27th On Monday, the Hornet Bowlers hosted non conference team Lemont High School. The Hornets bowled three consistent games to defeat Lemont by a score of 2213-2192. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the team with a 650 series. The JV Hornets also defeated Lemont 1703-1467. Junior Anyla Shanklin led the JV team with a 401 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 5-5 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 7-3.
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited Downers Grove South High School. This conference match saw the Hornets bowl 3 good games and defeat the Mustangs 2300-1994. Sophomore Madison Witucki, with a 544 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets and Junior Nathaly Garfias Fernandez added a nice 405 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were also able to put up a nice 3 games and defeated the Mustangs 1912-1779. Sophomore Jasmin Pulbere led the JV Lady Hornets with 358 series and Junior Anyla Shanklin added a 337 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornets visited the Bolingbrook Raiders at Bowlero in Romeoville. The Hornets started slowly, but finished with two strong games to beat Bolingbrook 1913-1451. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the varsity team with a 513 series. The JV Hornets were also able to defeat the Raiders because they didn’t have a JV team. The Hornets moved to 7-5 on varsity and 9-3 on JV.
On Thursday, the Hornet JV Bowlers competed in the JV Quigley Invite. This is a tournament for the newer bowlers on the team to get them some tournament experience. The Hornet JV Bowlers were able to bowl their best games of the year and won the tournament for the first time since 2013. The team was led by Junior Anyla Shanklin with a 425 series, Freshman Brenna Chan with a 364 series and Junior Dulce Serna with a 353 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Bowlers competed in the Leyden Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started strong but struggled in game 3. Sophomore Madison Witucki continued her incredible sophomore season on the team finishing 3rd place overall with 1177 series and the individual high game of the tournament with a 279 game. Senior Mandy Aylward chipped in a 849 series, Junior Lilly Davy added an 837 series and Senior Nathaly Garfias Fernandez bowled a 791 series. The Hornets finished in 9th place in the tournament out of 20 teams.
Week of January 20th On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, Willowbrook. This conference matches saw the Hornets bowl their best three games of the season and were able to defeat Willowbrook by a score of 2670-2489. Sophomore Madison Witucki, with a tremendous 636 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowled a short-handed Willowbrook team and won the match 1622-566. Freshman Maddy Herrada led the JV Lady Hornets with a 378 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 5-2 overall and 5-1 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornets hosted Naperville North at Bowlero in Woodridge. This was the Senior night for the team and coaches recognized the seniors after the match. The seniors include Mandy Aylward, Diana Banian, Bianca Bares and Nathaly Garfias Fernandez. The Hornets bowled improved each game and defeated Naperville North 2266-2028. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the varsity team with a 478 series and senior Mandy Aylward added a 428 series. The JV Hornets were also able to defeat Naperville North 1923-1897. Sophomore Anaid Garfias Fernandez led the JV team with a 351 series, junior Anyla Shankin added a 344 series and freshman Brenna Chan chipped in with a 342 series. The Hornets moved to 4-4 on varsity and 6-2 on JV.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted Morton High School. The Hornets bowled 3 good games, but Morton bowled an outstanding 2nd and 3rd games and were able to win the match 2689-2400. Sophomore Madison Witucki again led the varsity team with a 619 series and Senior Mandy Aylward added a 456 series. The JV team also fell to Morton by a 2380-1971 score. Junior Anyla Shanklin led the JV team with a 358 series and Sophomore Jasmin Pulbere chipped in with a 337 series. The varsity fell to 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the West Suburban Conference and the JV fell to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in conference.
Week of January 13th
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited Leyden for a conference match. This match saw the Hornets bowl their highest 3 game series of the season but ultimately lost to Leyden by a score of 3140-2604. Sophomore Madison Witucki led all bowlers with a 618 series. Junior Lilly Davy chipped in with a nice 484 series. The JV bowlers improved steadily each game and were able to defeat the Eagles 2034-1928. Sophomore Jasmin Pulbere led the JV Hornets with a 413 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Thursday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted conference foe Downers Grove North. This conference match saw the Hornets bowl fairly well for all 3 games and were able to defeat DGN by a score of 2447-2188. Sophomore Madison Witucki, with a 637 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets and Senior Mandy Aylward added a 411 series. The JV Hornet bowlers bowled well and were also able to defeat DGN 2049-1818. Junior Dulce Serna led the JV Lady Hornets with a 417 series and Junior Anyla Shanklin added a 411 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Friday, the Hornets hosted the 24th annual Ed Puck/Bob Lichter Hornet Invite at Bowlero. This tournament features 6 bowlers from each of the 8 teams invited, bowling 6 games in quick succession. The Lady Hornets were able to place 3rd with 4840 total series. They were led by Sophomore Madison Witucki with a season high 1249 series which made her the Invites Individual champion. .
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity Bowlers competed in the Fenton Fred Green Classic Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started slow but improved by the end of the day. Sophomore Madison Witucki continued her strong season bowling the highest series of the day, 1121 pins in the 6 games placing 7th individually. Senior Nathaly Garfias Fernandez added an 869 series and Junior Lilly Davy added an 850 series. The Hornets finished in 12th place out of 20 teams in the invite.
Week of December 9th
On Tuesday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team hosted a conference foe York High School. The Lady Hornets started strong but struggled in game 2 and fell to York 2576-2150. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the Hornets with a 564 series, leading all bowlers. The JV team kept the match close but also lost to the Dukes 1941-1824. The Varsity Lady Hornets record fell to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-2 and 1-1 in conference as well.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted West Suburban Conference member Addison Trail High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers had their best score of the season, but lost to the Blazers 2780-2410. Sophomore Madison Witucki led all varsity bowlers with a 577 series. The JV team also improved each game and held on to defeat Addison Trail 1921-1896. Senior Nathaly Garfias Fernandez led the JV team with a 421 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets fell to 1-3 and 1-2 in conference and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 2-2 and 2-1 in conference.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in the Plainfield North Strikefest. This is a tournament featuring 44 teams from across the state including some of the best teams. The Hornets finished in 8th place on the day in the Bronze Division and 32nd place overall. The Hornet bowlers were led by Sophomore Madison Witucki with a 1226 series and Senior Mandy Aylward with a 872 series. Madison Witucki won a trophy for a 600 series, one for a 1200 series as well as placing 7th place overall individually.
Week of December 2nd
On Wednesday, the Hornets visited Sandburg High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers bowled only two games against Sandburg. The team had a good start but struggled in game two and fell to Sandburg 1585-1479. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the varsity bowlers with a 384 series. The JV team also lost to Sandburg 1301-1037. Junior Dulce Serna led the JV team with a 251 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 0-1 and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 0-1.
On Thursday, the Hornets visited conference rival and sister school Hinsdale Central High School for their first West Suburban Conference Match. The Lady Hornets Bowlers bowled three strong games and defeated the Red Devils 2408-1726. Sophomore Madison Witucki led the varsity bowlers with a strong 572 series and Senior Mandy Aylward contributed a nice 491 series. The JV team was able to improve each game and win their match 1737-1470. Junior Dulce Serna led the JV team with a 339 series and Freshman Maddy Herrada added a 323 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 1-1 (1-0 WSC) and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-1 (1-0 WSC).
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady JV Bowlers competed in the Joliet Central JV Invite. This is a tournament featuring 17 teams from the south and west suburbs. The Hornets finished in 10th place on the day. The JV Hornet bowlers were led by Sophomore Anaid Garfias Fernandez with a 679 series and Junior Anyla Shanklin with a 627 series.
Week of November 25th On Friday, November 29th, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in their first tournament of the 2024-2025 season. This was the 23 team Plainfield Central Wildcat Invite. This is an excellent tournament with some of the best teams in Illinois. The Hornets bowled consistently all day, but with a new team, they stayed in the middle of the pack. The team finished in 16th place. The Hornets were led bySophomore Madison Witucki with a 1064 series finishing 23rd as an individual.
