5/10 - Loss against Willowbrook 2-10 JV Hinsdale South Hornets fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 10-2 loss to Willowbrook Warriors JV on Wednesday. Corey Orr was on the pitcher's mound for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. The righty allowed 12 hits and nine runs over five innings, striking out six. Braeden Meeker threw two innings in relief. Evan Lopresti went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead JV Hinsdale South Hornets in hits. Next game is against Willowbrook for game 3.
5/11 - Loss against Willowbrook 0-13 Thursday was a long day for JV Hinsdale South Hornets, falling to Willowbrook Warriors JV 13-0. Noah Greenman started the game for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. The righthander surrendered 13 runs on nine hits over four innings, striking out two. Braeden Meeker threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Tough loss for the Hornets. Next game against York.
5/13 - Loss against York 5-13
Freshman 5/9 Willowbrook Willowbrook defeated Hinsdale South 10-0. The hornets faced a very good arm on the mound. Jack Bauer played well defensively. Taylor Mazur and Ramus Jenkins each had a stolen base. The hornets walked 8 and did not record a base hit in the game.
5/10 willowbrook Willowbrook defeated Hinsdale South 12-0. Davey O’Connor pitched 4 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. Carter D’Andrea had the Hornets’ only hit. Josh Fitzpatrick and Jack Bauer had nice plays in the outfield. The Hornets walked 3, hit 1, and had 7 errors. Only 4 of the 12 runs scored by Willowbrook were earned. The Hornets will look to bounce back tomorrow in the series finale.
5/11 willowbrook Willowbrook defeated Hinsdale South 17-0. The Hornets had 5 errors, walked 8, and hit 2. Unfortunately the Hornets did not have any hits today. Jack Bauer and Ramus Jenkins both had great plays in the field. The Hornets will look to bounce back against York on Saturday
5/13 York York defeated Hinsdale South 25-1. The Hornets walked 9 and committed 3 errors. Carter D’Andrea and Taylor Mazur each had a hit. Drew Baughman had a solid line drive to center field. Taylor Mazur had an RBI. Peyton Connely caught a line drive and then threw it to first to Carter D’Andrea for a double play. Jack Bauer, Davy O’Connor and Ethan Rodriguez also turned a 1-6-3 double play. Raveen Patel had a very good game defensively in the outfield where he does not usually play. He also had a diving stop at 3rd base. The Hornets will look to end the season on a high note next week against Leyden and Lyons.
Week of May 1st
Varsity 5/02 @ Downers Grove South L 0 - 16 The Hornets had a tough game defensively trying to contain the high powered offense of cross town rival Downers Grove South.
Offensively the Hornets were aided by hits from AJ Fulscher and Robbie Spang as well as a walk from Landon Jasinski.
Robbie Spang got the start for the Hornets but had a hard time containing the Mustang hitters. Spang threw 2 innings striking out 3. Ryan Flynders and Jacob Nick also pitched out of the bullpen, throwing 2 and two thirds and one third innings respectively.
5/04 @ Downers Grove South L 12 - 19 In a slugging match, the Hornets lost a heartbreaker to the Mustangs due to some late inning heroics from the Mustang hitters. After going down early, the Hornets battled back to a 12 - 10 lead in the 6th inning, before a dramatic go - ahead grand slam secured the lead for good for the Mustangs in the bottom of the 6th.
The Hornets scored 6 runs in the 5th inning thanks to a 2 run double from AJ Fulscher, and hits from Landon Jasinski, Alex Mazur, and Andrew Miller. Brandon Elting started on the mound and handed the ball off to Sam Harmon who dazzled for 3 and two thirds innings to manage the strong Mustang offense. Sam had 6 strikeouts total on the day.
Offensively AJ Fulscher led the way with 2 hits, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI, while Ryan Flynders, and Landon Jasinski also tallied 2 RBI. Robbie Spang had a strong day as well, going 3 for 4 at the plate.
5/05 @ Downers Grove South L 3 - 10 The Mustang offense once again came out strong, pushing across runs in every inning except for the 1st. Ryan Flynders started on the mound and had a respectable day, throwing 4 and one third inning striking out 6 Mustangs. Jacob Nick came in relief and threw 1 and two thirds innings as well to help stop the onslaught.
Offensively, Robbie Spang continued to swing a hot bat, going 2 for 2 and hitting his first career home run in the 5th inning. Johnny Kadolph also provided 1 hit and scored 1 run.

5/04 - Loss against DGS 7-13 JV Hinsdale South Hornets fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-6 loss to Downers Grove South Mustangs JV on Thursday. Despite the loss, JV Hinsdale South Hornets did collect six hits in the high-scoring affair. JV Hinsdale South Hornets put up four runs in the sixth inning. JV Hinsdale South Hornets's offense in the inning came from a walk by Devin Casey, a single by Meliki Scanlan, and an error on a ball put in play by Aiden Chamberlain. JV Hinsdale South Hornets racked up six hits in the game. Niko Villagomez and Daxton Michaels each racked up multiple hits for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. Michaels and Villagomez each collected two hits to lead JV Hinsdale South Hornets. Villagomez led JV Hinsdale South Hornets with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. Game 3 next.

5/06 - Loss against Hinsdale Central 4-5 Saturday's game against Hinsdale Central High School was a heartbreaker for JV Hinsdale South Hornets, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. Leydon Spang started the game for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. The righthander lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out six. EJ Mazzei threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen. Casey led JV Hinsdale South Hornets with two hits in four at bats. Next game against Willowbrook.
Freshman Downers Grove South 5/2 Downers Grove South defeated Hinsdale South 16-3. The hornets had good at bats offensively. Ramus Jenkins had a 2 RBI base hit in the 2nd inning. Downers Grove South hit well. The hornets walked 7, hit 1, and committed 6 errors.
Downers grove south 5/4 Downers Grove South beat Hinsdale South 14-4. Carter D’Andrea had 2 doubles. The hornets had 4 hits as a team and committed 5 errors. Davey O’Connor pitched 4 strong innings, only giving up 2 earned runs. The Hornets will look to bounce back in the series finale tomorrow.
Downers Grove South 5/5 Downers Grove South defeated Hinsdale South 8-4. Taylor Mazur pitched 5 innings giving up 4 earned runs. Jack Bauer pitched 2 innings giving up only 1 earned run. The hornets looked much better defensively today. Davey O’Connor caught and went 3-3 with a double, walk, and RBI. Ramus Jenkins also had an RBI, keeping his steak of good offensive games going. The Hornets will look to bounce back against Hinsdale Central tomorrow and Willowbrook next week.
Hinsdale Central 5/6 Hinsdale Central defeated Hinsdale South 11-0. Raveen Patel gave up only 2 earned runs in 2 innings pitched. The Hornets walked 7 and hit 3. The defense was solid today, with no errors in the field from the Hornets. Taylor Mazur had the only hit of the game. Many Hornets have battled injury lately. They will look to get healthy over the next couple days and bounce back against Willowbrook on Monday.
Week of April 24th
Varsity 4/24 @ Morton W 16 - 6 The Hornet offense exploded for 16 runs, paced by Andrew Miller who had 4 hits and led the charge. Andrew contributed 4 hits, 3 runs scored and had 3 RBIs total on the day.
The scoring started when Ryan Flynders singled home Johnny Kadolph in the first inning, after which the Hornets refused to take their foot off the gas. 8 Hornets tallied RBIs on the day with AJ Fulscher, Andrew Miller, Henry Joyce, Robbie Spang, and Nathaniel Fundator all contributing multiple.
Brandon Elting got the win for the Hornets as the righthander went four and a third innings allowing 4 runs on three hits and striking out five. Ryan flynders also threw 2 and two thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen
4/25 vs. Morton W 11 - 1 The Hornets enjoyed a strong start against the Mustangs as they were able to push across 2 runs in the first inning. The Hornets offense was sparked when sophomore John Kadolph blasted the first home run of the season, and the first of his Varsity Hornets career.
The Hornets totaled 13 hits in the game with Robbie Spang, Andrew Miller, Kaden ALavi, Ryan Flynders, and John Kadolph all having multiple hits. Miller and Spang each managed to rack up 3 hits total and helped pace the Hornets offense. Miller also played perfect defense at 1st base with 8 total chances.
Robbie Spang also had his strongest outing of the season on the mound, going 5 innings surrendering only one run on 2 hits. Spang had only one strikeout but the strong Hornet defense had his back all day.
4/27 @ Morton W 3 - 1 In a drag out closing game for the series the Hornets were able to score 3 to beat the Mustangs and complete the second conference sweep of the year. The Hornets got on the board early thanks to a sac fly line out from Robbie Spang. Andrew Miller, Robbie Spang, Nathaniel Fundator, Ryan Flynders and Leyden Spang all contributed hits to the Hornets and helped them secure the lead.
Sam Harmon secured his 3rd win of the season on the mound after throwing 6 innings allowing only 1 run and striking out 5. Ryan Flynders slammed the door shut after throwing one inning of relief striking out 1.
4/29 @ Proviso West - W - 11 - 2 The Hornets continued their hot streak in an 11 - 2 win against the Panthers on Saturday. Henry Joyce paced the offense with a 4 hit day while scoring 2 and driving in 2.
Andrew Miller continued his hot week going 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbis, while Ryan Flynders also played well, going 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 rbis. Brandon Elting also enjoyed a positive offensive day, tallying a total of 3 walks and scoring 1 run.
Nathaniel Fundator threw 4 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits total with 5 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Alex Mazur threw 2 innings in relief also striking out 5 Panthers.
JV Win against Morton 11-10 JV Hinsdale South Hornets seized victory in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Morton High School. The game was tied at ten with JV Hinsdale South Hornets batting in the bottom of the eighth when Devin Casey singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. JV Hinsdale South Hornets notched six runs in the sixth inning. JV Hinsdale South Hornets put the pressure on, lead by walks by Sachin Malhotra and Corey Orr, by Evan Lopresti and Noah Greenman, a single by Charlie Orr, and a groundout by Villagomez. Win against Morton 12-2 JV Hinsdale South Hornets blew out Morton High School 12-2 on Wednesday. JV Hinsdale South Hornets scored five runs in the second inning. Devin Casey, Aiden Chamberlain, Evan Lopresti, and Braeden Meeker each had RBIs in the big inning. EJ Mazzei was credited with the victory for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. Mazzei went four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five. Rj Gallegos threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. JV Hinsdale South Hornets racked up nine hits in the game. Lopresti, Casey, and Spang all collected multiple hits for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. Lopresti went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead JV Hinsdale South Hornets in hits. JV Hinsdale South Hornets was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Henry Joyce made the most plays with eight. One more against Morton next.
Freshman Morton 4/24 Hinsdale South defeated Morton 6-5. The hornets benefitted from Taylor Mazur’s 4 innings pitched where he gave up only 1 earned run. Davey O’Connor came in relief to pitch 2 innings giving up no earned runs. Jack Bauer shut the door in the 7th inning also giving up no earned runs. The hornets also had great at bats. Drew Baughman came up big with a 2 out, 2 RBI single. Ethan Rodriguez had a double that rolled all the way to the garage in right center field. Carter D’Andrea tougher through hip tightness with a 2 hit, 1 RBI game. Brian Hosty laid down a perfect drag bunt, and had an RBI single. Taylor Mazur also had a 2 hit, 1 RBI game to go along with his excellent pitching performance.
Morton 4/26 Hinsdale South defeated Morton 24-6. In a game that ended at almost 8pm. Ramus Jennings pitched 4 innings giving up 0 earned runs. Taylor Mazur had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Braedon Koperski had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Carter D’Andrea and Ramus Jenkins each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Peyton Connelly and Josh Fitzpatrick each had nice plays in the outfield. Carter D’Andrea threw out a base runner attempting to seat second. Ramus Jenkins and Carter D’Andrea both stole third timing up the pitcher. The Hornets attacked and played well in all 4 phases of the game. They locked up the series win and will go for the sweep tomorrow at home.
Morton 4/27 Morton defeated Hinsdale South 10-7. The Hornets have been battling a sickness amongst the team that many players have gotten. Players had to step up in spots where they do not normally play. Taylor Mazur stepped up and caught for the first time this season, and threw someone out stealing. He also had 3 hits and an RBI. Ramus Jenkins also had 2 hits and an RBI. Drew Baughman, Ethan Rodriguez, and Josh Fitzpatrick all had outstanding plays defensively. Unfortunately, he Hornets walked 7, hit 2, and made 3 errors. 4 of the 10 runs the hornets gave up were unearned. The Hornets managed to win the series against Morton though, and will look to bounce back against Proviso West on Saturday.
Proviso West 4/29 Hinsdale South tied Proviso West 5-5 in 8 innings. Jack Bauer had an outstanding performance on the mound. Pitching 5 innings, giving up only 3 runs, all of which were unearned. Drew Baughman also pitched an inning giving up no earned runs. Davey O’Connor pitched the 7th and 8th innings in the pouring rain, also giving up 0 runs. It was a long, close, fun, hard fought game. The hornets committed 5 errors and had a lot of chances to score a winning run but came up short. Proviso West also had multiple chances to score additional runs but were stopped by outstanding plays by the entire Hornet defense. Drew Baughman stood out defensively and had a single and a double.
Week of April 17th
Varsity 4/18 @ Proviso East - W 10 - 2 Hinsdale South won big over Proviso East 10 - 2 on Tuesday. HInsdale South got on the board in the first inning thanks to an Andrew Miller single. The Hornets tallied three runs in the seventh inning to push the game over the top. The offensive firepower was led by AJ Fulscher, John Kadolph, and Miller, who all drove in runs throughout the game.
Brandon Elting led the Hornets to victory on the mound. The righty surrendered two runs on one hit over five and a third innings, while striking out six. Sam Harmon and Leydon Spang entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game.
Hinsdale South had 13 hits in the game. Miller, Henry Joyce, and Landon Jasinski each managed multiple hits with Miller leading the way with a 3 - for - 4 day.
4/21 vs. Proviso East W 2 - 1 A walk off double propelled HInsdale South to a decisive, dramatic victory over Proviso East 2 - 1. The game was tied at one with the Hornets batting in the bottom of the seventh when AJ Fulscher doubled on a 1 - 1 count to score the winning run. Robbie Spang was on the mound for the Hornets and the righty lasted four innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out five. Landon Jasinski, Henry Joyce, and AJ Fulscher each collected one hit to lead the Honets victory. The Hornets didn’t commit any errors and Landon Jasinski was perfect from the field with ten putouts.
4/22 vs. Oak Park River Forest L 4 - 10 On a cold, snowy day the Hornets dropped a nailbiter to the Huskies 4 - 10. The game was tied 3 - 3 going into the 5th inning when the Huskies were able to push across 2 runs to take the lead for good. The Hornets were able to push across 3 runs in the 4th inning to tie the game up thanks to a 2 RBI single from Nathaniel Fundator and a sac fly from Andrew Miller.
Nathaniel Fundator had a solid start on the mound for the Hornets, throwing 4 innins striking out 2 and allowing 6 hits. Unfortunately, Fundator’s strong showing was cut short due to an inflated pitch count. The Hornets offense was paced by sophomore Kaden Alavi who contributed 2 hits in 3 at bats. JV Win against Glenbard West 3-2 JV Hinsdale South Hornets took their game in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a walk-off single at the end of the game to topple Glenbard West High School. The game was tied at two with JV Hinsdale South Hornets batting in the bottom of the seventh when Braeden Meeker singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. JV Hinsdale South Hornets pitchers struck out six. Niko Villagomez got the win for JV Hinsdale South Hornets. Villagomez lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking zero.

Freshman Glenbard East 4/18 Glenbard East defeated Hinsdale South 11-4. The hornets continued to have good at bats offensively. Carter D’Andrea stayed hot at the plate with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Raveen Patel came up with a big RBI double and Taylor Mazur had an RBI single. Ramus Jenkins contributed as well with 2 singles. Taylor Mazur had an outstanding pitching outing, giving up just 1 earned run in 3.1 innings. The hornets walked 6, hit 2, and committed 5 errors. 7 of the Glenbard East runs were unearned.
OPRF 4/22 Oak Park River Forest defeated Hinsdale South 11-1 in a 5 inning 1 hitter. Raveen Patel and Carter D’Andrea both had 2 walks. Davey O’Connor also reached base twice with a walk and a Double to left field. The hornets committed 7 errors and 4 of the Oak Park River Forest runs were unearned.

Varsity vs. Addison Trail - L 4 - 5 Monday's game against Addison Trail Blazers was a heartbreaker for Hinsdale South, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat. The game was tied at four with Addison Trail batting in the top of the seventh when Giovanni Long's sac fly scored one run. Hinsdale South lost despite out-hitting Addison Trail eight to five. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Hinsdale South tied things up at four when AJ Fulscher grounded out, scoring one run. Brandon Elting started the game for Hinsdale South. The righty lasted five and a third innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out six. Nathaniel Fundator threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Hinsdale South totaled eight hits. Andrew Miller and Fulscher each racked up multiple hits for Hinsdale South. Miller led Hinsdale South with three hits in four at bats.
@ Addison Trail - L 0 - 12 Hinsdale South had a tough time generating runs on Tuesday, dropping their game with Addison Trail 12-0. One bright spot for Hinsdale South was a single by John Kadolph in the third inning. Robbie Spang was on the hill for Hinsdale South. The righty surrendered nine runs on seven hits over two and a third innings. Leydon Spang threw one and two-thirds innings in relief. Spang led Hinsdale South with two hits in three at bats.

@ Glenbard West - L 8 - 9 The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Glenbard West Hilltoppers came out on top against Hinsdale South Hornets, 9-8. Nathaniel Fundator led things off on the mound for the Hornets. The pitcher allowed eight hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out four. Ryan Flynders threw three innings in relief. The Hornets totaled eight hits. AJ Fulscher and Landon Jasinski all managed multiple hits for Hinsdale South. Fulscher went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Hornets in hits. Hinsdale South didn't commit a single error in the field. Kaden Alavi had the most chances in the field with ten.

Loss against Glenbard West 6-7 JV Hinsdale South Hornets fought back after falling down by six runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Glenbard West High School on Saturday. JV Hinsdale South Hornets scored six runs in the failed comeback on a error, a error, a walk by Daxton Michaels, a walk by Charlie Orr, and a walk by Braeden Meeker in the 7th. Glenbard score 1 in the 8th and the Hornets were not able to put any runs in the bottom of the 8th. Next game is against Glenbard West again.

4/13 Addison trail Addison Trail defeated Hinsdale South 11-3. The hornets couldn’t catch a break at the plate today. They had a lot of solid at bats with unlucky results. 8 walks, 2 HBP, 3 errors, and timely hitting was the key to Addison Trail’s victory. Jack Bauer did an outstanding job defensively in left field, and Davey O’Connor made great plays at shortstop. Taylor Mazur reached base twice with a walk and a base hit, which drove in a run.
4/15 Glenbard West Glenbard West defeated Hinsdale South 19-4. The Hornets remained competitive at the plate. Taylor Mazur had a base hit, walk, and an RBI. Braedon Koperski and Raveen Patel also had a base hit and RBI each. The Hornets unfortunately walked 9, hit 2, and had 6 errors resulting in Glenbard scoring 19 runs, only 4 of which were earned.
Week of April 3rd
Varsity @ Evergreen Park - L 5 - 0 Hinsdale South fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-0 loss to the Evergreen Park Mustangs on Tuesday. In the first inning, Evergreen Park got their offense started when they scored one run. A single by Max Waszkiewicz in the first inning was a positive for Hinsdale South.
