Congratulations to Lukas Simkus and Parker Chan for competing in the IHSA State Swimming Championship Meet . Lukas finished 28th in the state with a personal best time in the 200 Yard Freestyle. Parker finished 22nd in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 13th in the 100 Yard Backstroke events. Parker also broke his own team record in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Great work men, we are all very proud of you both for a great season!
Week of February 12th
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team placed 5th in the Sectional Swim Meet on Saturday. Congratulations to Lukas Simkus (200 Yard Freestyle) and Parker Chan (200 Yard Freestyle and 100 Yard Backstroke) for advancing to the IHSA State Meet next Friday. We had two "man of the meet" swimmers: Lukas Simkus for his state qualifying cut and Jack Roh for his outstanding performances and personal best times in the 200 yard I.M. and 100 Yard Backstroke. Other medalists included Kareem Alhamwi and Gustas Meiliulis in the 200 Medley and 400 Freestyle Relays. Antonio Bosiljanov did a great job with a personal best time in the 500 Yard Freestyle event. Good luck next week to Lukas and Parker at the State Championship meet!
Week of January 29th
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team competed in the West Suburban Gold Conference championship meet on Friday evening winning 6 out of the 11 events. Parker Chan broke three records at the meet that included: Team Record, Pool Record and Conference Record in the 100 Butterfly. Gold Medalists and All Conference swimmers are: Parker Chan, Lukas Simkus, Kareem Alhamwi and Gustas Meiliulis. Best season times included: Jack Roh, Filip Angelovski, Shalin Raiguru and special congratulations to Elias Varesis for his 6 second drop in the 100 Yard Backstroke. The team will continue training hard for the sectional meet in two weeks (2/17), followed by the State Championship meet on 2/23 - 2/24.
Week of January 22nd
Congratulations to the Boy's Swim and Dive Team on defeating J.S.Morton High School on Friday evening. The team recognized: Jack Roh, Lukas Simkus and Kareem Alhamwi on their final home swim meet as we bid them farewell on our senior night. A very special evening for Parker Chan as he broke the 100 Yard Backstroke pool record.
On Saturday, the team competed at L.T. High School at a six team invitational. Medalists included: Lukas Simkus in the 200 yd Free and 100 yd Butterfly. Parker Chan in the 200 yd I.M. and 100 yd Backstroke. Please join us on Friday evening for the conference championship swim meet at Leyden High School.
Week of January 15th
After a long week of flu season and other injuries, the Boy's Swim and Dive Team made it through a long week of swim competition and practices through the cold days of January. On Wednesday, the team lost to Leyden but still swam well with 40% best times. Congratulations to Kareem Alhamwi on his "man of the meet"nomination for his outstanding performances and personal best times.
On Friday, we traveled to Proviso West for a win. Most of the team experienced different events, and again performed well with first place finishes by: Jack Roh, Kareem Alhamwi, Lukas Simkus, Konrad Kremper, Antonio Bosiljanov, Daniel Tabor, Elias Veresis and Shalin Rajguru.
On Saturday morning, the team arrived early for a 6:30 A.M. bus, heading to an Invitational at Lockport High School. Medalists include: Jack Roh, Lukas Simkus, Kareem Alhamwi and Gustas Meiliulis. Next week holds a meet at home against JSMorton at 5:00 and on Saturday morning, we go to Lyons Township High School in Western Springs for an invitational.
Week of January 8th
The Boy's Swim and Dive team lost to University High on Wednesday. First place finishers included: Parker Chan, Lukas Simkus, Jack Roh and Kareem Alhamwi. It was fun to see some time drops coming out of winter break with personal best times from Indigo Olsen, Antonio Bosiljanov and Elias Varesis. Due to inclement weather, our meet against Leyden on Friday 1/12, has been rescheduled for Wednesday 1/17. On Friday 1/19 we travel to Proviso West followed by an invitational on Saturday 1/20 at Lockport High School.
Week of January 1st
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team hosted an eleven team "College Events" invitational. Individual medalists included Parker Chan in the 400 Yard Individual Medley and the 500 yard freestyle events. Lukas Simkus placed a medal in the 200 yard backstroke event. The rest of the team swam in events that they weren't used to due to the longer distances, however, they took advantage of the experience and all competed as expected. Awesome Job Team! This coming week, we have a new meet scheduled at home on Wednesday (1/10) at 4:30 P.M. On Friday (1/12) we travel to Leyden High School for a meet at 5:00.
Week of December 25th
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team thus far, has been training hard daily over the break. Due to holiday travels, we have been carrying on with lower numbers. On Wednesday, the team placed 5th at an Invitational hosted by Lincoln Way Central. First place medal winners included: Parker Chan, Andrew Peterson, Lukas Simkus and Jack Roh. Hard training has begun to pay off as we have been starting to see lots of time drops beginning. A couple of standout drops included: Antonio Bosiljanov and Elias Varesis. Lukas Simkus was nominated "man of the meet" for his outstanding swims and first place finishes in the 200 Yard I.M. and the 100 Yard Butterfly events. We will continue training hard through the New Year's week as we get ready to host our very own "College Events" invitational, on Saturday, January 6th.
Week of December 18th
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team defeated AddisonTrail/Willowbrook swim team on Friday evening. Outstanding performances for the Hornets included: Daniel Tabor, Antonio Bosiljanov, Ognjen Petkovic, Shalin Rajguru, Konrad Kremper, Filip Angelovski and a job well done to Freshman Indigo Olson, on his first swim meet. Congratulations to Elias Varesis on being chosen by his teammates as "man of the meet" for his performance and best times. Please join us at Lincoln Way Central on Wednesday, December 27, for our competition in an invitational.
Week of December 11th
The Boy's Swim and Dive Team is back in the water being led by seniors Lukas Simkus, Kareem Alhamwl and Jack Roh. The Hornets were defeated on Wednesday evening in their first meet of the season by Downers Grove South. First place finishers included Parker Chan, Andrew Petersen, Lukas Simkus and Kareem Alhamwi. A special congratulations goes out to Parker Chan on his new Pool Record in the 100 Yard Breastroke!
On Saturday morning, the Varsity Team traveled to Bloomington High School to bring back a first place team trophy after competing in a 15 team invitational. First place medalists included: Parker Chan, Andrew Petersen, Lukas Simkus, Kareem Alhamwi and freshman Gustas Meiliulis.
Our next meet is 12/22/23 at Hinsdale South at 5:00 P.M. against coop Addison Trail/ Willowbrook.
