Varsity On Monday May 9th the Hornets hosted Willowbrook in game 1 of the 3 game series. The Hornets had a 3-2 lead going into the 7th but were unable to hold on as Willowbrook scored 3 in the 7th to get a 5-3 win. Drew Duckhorn started on the mound and gave up just two runs in 5 innings, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 3 hits. Offensively the Hornets were led by Parker Bozzi 2-3 with 2 RBI’s and Eliot Fulscher went 2-3. The Hornets also got hits from Max Waskiewicz, Kyle Jannenga, and Nick Dunwoody. The Hornets are now 18-7 and 10-3 in conference.
On Tuesday the Hornets traveled to Villa Park in a must win scenario if the Hornets wanted to compete for a conference title and the Hornets won a thriller by the score of 4-2. Brandon Elting pitched 5 innings allowing just 2 runs while striking out 4. Nathaniel Fundator picked up the win in relief by pitching two hitless and two scoreless innings. The Hornets were led offensively by Max Waskiewicz 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Drew Duckhorn 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Kyle Jannenga had a huge hit driving in two and Justin Hill and Parker Bozzi each added a hit. The Hornets are now 19-7 and 11-3 in conference.
Thursday was senior night and a chance to take the lead in the conference. The Hornets came up a little short losing a heartbreaker 4-2 in 11 innings. Robbie Spang pitched 7 innings allowing 2 runs on two hits and Nathaniel Fundator picked up the tough loss allowing just 1 earned run in 4 innings of relief. The Hornets were led offensively by Kyle Jannenga 2-4 with an RBI, Nick Dunwoody was 3-5 with an RBI. Eliot Fulscher, Justin Hill, and Drew Duckhorn each added a hit. The Hornets are 19-8 and 11-4 in conference.
On Saturday the Hornets hosted Joliet Catholic. Drew Duckhorn started and went 4 scoreless innings. Duckhorn struck out 6 and allowed just 1 hit. Lucas Duffy and Owen Karpeck both pitched admirably in relief. The Hornets came up short 5-3. Kyle Jannenga was 2-4 with an RBI and Chris Prosek was 2-3 with a run scored. Can Crotty was 1-3 with an RBI double and a run scored. Parker Bozzi was 1-4 with an RBI double. The Hornets are now 19-9 on the season.

Varsity On Monday the Hornets hosted Gold Division Rival DGS in game 1 of an important 3 game series. The game was scoreless until the 4th inning when the Mustangs scored 5 times. The Hornets battled back scoring 2 runs in the 4th and 2 more in the 5th. The Hornets threatened in the 7th but could not score as DGS takes game 1 by a score of 5-4. The Hornets were led offensively by Parker Bozzi (2-3 with a homer and 2 RBI’s) and Max Waszkiewicz (2-3 with a run scored). The Hornets also got hits from Justin Hill, Drew Duckhorn, Chris Prosek, Nick Dunwoody, and Eliot Fulscher. Drew Duckhorn picked up the loss pitching 3 1/3, striking out 6, and allowing 5 hits. Nathaniel Fundator threw a scoreless 1 2/3 innings and Justin Hill threw 2 scoreless innings in relief. The Hornets are now 16-6 and 8-2 in the conference.
On Wednesday the Hornets traveled to Downers Grove and defeated DGS by a score of 2-0 behind Brandon Elting’s 5th win of the season. Elting pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just 4 hits, 0 runs and striking out 5. Justin Hill picked up his 5th save of the season by recording the final out. The Hornets were led offensively by Max Waszkiewicz (2-4) and Kyle Jannenga (2-4). Parker Bozzi, Drew Duckhorn, Chris Prosek, Nick Dunwoody and Robbie Spang all had a hit. The Hornets are now 17-6 and 9-2 in conference.
On Saturday the Hornets hosted Downers South for the series finale. Robbie Spang (6-0) was brilliant in 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing 0 earned runs and two hits while striking out 4. Justin Hill got the final two outs to pick up his 6th save. Offensively the Hornets were led by Nick Dunwoody (1-3 with an RBI and a run scored). Max Waszkiewicz (1-2). Kyle Jannenga (1-3 with a solo homer) and Eliot Fulscher with an RBI. The Hornets are now 18-6 and 10-2 in the West Suburban Gold. JV 5/02/2022 - Downers Grove South L 5-4 The Hornets lost a heartbreaker against the rival Mustang squad to start out the 2022 series with Downers Grove South. Alex Mazur pitched extremely well, going 6 innings strong allowing 2 runs, 1 earned. Alex recorded 7 strikeouts and limited the Mustangs to 4 hits across those 6 innings. Offensively, Alex had 2 hits, Ryan Flynders tallied an RBI double and Rudy Flores was 3 for 4 with 3 rockets up the middle.

Varsity On Monday the Hornets hosted the Morton Mustangs and got the win 2-0. The Hornets scored both runs on a wild pitch in the fourth inning. Parker Bozzi got a great jump from 3rd and scored run 1. The throw to the plate was high and wild. Drew Deolitsis never hesitated as he scored all the way from 2nd base on the play. Drew Duckhorn was the answer on the mound as he pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout. Drew Struck-out 6 and walked 1. Drew is now 3-1 on the season. The Hornets moved their record to 7-0 in conference and 14-4 on the season.
On Tuesday the Hornets traveled to Berwyn for game 2 of the Morton series and lost a heartbreaker 6-5. The Hornets fell behind early. Trailing 4-0 in the fourth, Parker Bozzi hit a solo homer to get the Hornets on the board. Trailing 5-1 entering the 7th; the Hornets put together a late game rally. With two it’s and trailing 5-3; Kyle Jannenga hit a triple to tie the score at 5. The Hornets couldn’t hold the tie as Morton pushed across the 6th run with a two out bases loaded walk in the 7th. On the mound this game for the Hornets was Brandon Elting (4-0) who gave up only 1 earned runs in 5 innings. Brandon struck out 6 and walked 1. Owen Karpeck pitched a scoreless 6th inning and to one hitter in the 7th. Justin Hill pitched the final 2/3 before yielding a walk. Offensively Parker Bozzi and Kyle Jannenga had two hits. Nick Dunwoody and Max Waszkiewicz each had hits. The Hornets are 14-5 on the season and 7-1 in the West Suburban Gold Division.
On Thursday the Hornets hosted Morton for the rubber match of the series and the Hornets defeated Morton 4-3 to take the season series. Robbie Spang pitched brilliantly picking up his 5th win of the season going 6 innings and allowing just 2 earned runs. Justin Hill closed out a perfect 7th inning to preserve the win while picking up his 4th save of the season. Offensively the Hornets had two hits by Robbie Spang and hits by Kyle Jannenga, Justin Hill, Drew Duckhorn, and Eliot Fulscher. The Hornets had RBI’s from Parker Bozzi, Nick Dunwoody, and Drew Duckhorn. The Hornets are now 15-5 on the season and 8-1 in the West Suburban Gold Division.
JV 4/25/2022 - Morton L 2-15 The Hornets kicked off the second conference series against Morton on the road after a tough loss against OPRF. Alex Mazur was the starter on the mound. Despite not having his best stuff today he still gutted out 5 innings before handing the ball off to Braeden Meeker, who made his first appearance on the mound this season. The biggest offensive highlight of the game was a perfect bunt for a hit from Jacob Charters, who then stole 2nd and came around to score.
4/26/2022 - Morton W 5-2 The Hornets had their best showing of the season in game 2 against the Morton Mustangs. Ryan Flynders spun a gem on the mound going a strong 6 innings not allowing a single run. AJ Fulscher came in to pitch the 7th and slam the door shut. Offensively AJ Fulscher was unstoppable. He led off the game with a line drive homerun to left field and then followed that up with 3 straight singles.
4/28/2022 - Morton W 3-1 Sam Harmon started the final game of the series and threw his best start of the season. Sam threw a complete game 1 hitter and had 0 earned runs. The Hornets pushed across 3 runs thanks to a solid showing from Henry Joyce and Noah Ririe who both had 2 hits.
4/30/2022 - Proviso West W 21-7 On a rainy day the Hornets traveled to Proviso West to play the Panthers. Jacob Nick started the game and eventually handed off to 2 freshman pitchers making their debuts on the mound for the JV team. RJ Gallegos and Evan Lopresti threw a pair of innings each and both helped to shut down the Panther offense, only allowing 1 run in the final 4 innings. Offensively every Hornet starter added a hit, and in total 13 Hornet players tallied a base knock.

Varsity On Tuesday the Hornets hosted Proviso East in game 1 of the three game series and defeated the Pirates 10-0. Drew Duckhorn picked up the win striking out 3 and allowing 1 hit. Owen Kaprpeck pitched a scoreless inning of relief and Sam Harmon pitched two scoreless, striking out 3 and walking 1. Offensively the Hornets were led by Eliot Fulscher and Chris Prosek who were both 2-3 with an RBI. The Hornets had hits from the following: Max Waskiewicz, Kyle Jannenga, Justin Hill, Parker Bozzi, and Nick Dunwoody. The Hornets are now 10-4 on the season and 4-0 in conference play.
On Wednesday the Hornets travelled to Maywood and Brandon Elting pitched a complete game as the Hornets won 11-2. Elting gave up 6 hits and allowed two runs while striking out 12. Elting is now 4-0 on the season. Offensively the Hornets were led by Kyle Jannenga and Justin Hill who were both 2-3 with an RBI. Nick Dunwoody had a hit and 3 RBI's. Max Waskiewicz, Parker Bozzi, Drew Duckhorn, Chris Prosek, Eliot Fulscher and Cam Crotty each had a hit.
On Thursday the Hornets defeated Proviso East in Darien by a score of 11-1. Robbie Spang was magnificent on the mound, picking up his 4th win of the season and pitching a complete game (6 innings), two hitter, striking out 9 and walking 0. Spang is now 4-0 on the season. Offensively the Hornets were led by Eliot Fulscher who went 3-3 with a double, a run scored and 5 RBI's. Nick Dunwoody went 3-3 and scored 3 runs. Kyle Jannenga went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Max Waskiewicz, Justin Hill, and Parker Bozzi each had a hit and an RBI. The Hornets completed the sweep when sophomore Nathaniel Fundators sac fly plated junior infielder Rudy Flores with the 11th run. The Hornets moved their record to 12-4 on the season and 6-0 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Saturday the Hornets hosted Oak Park due to wet field conditions in River Forest. Nathaniel Fundator (2-2) was spectacular on the mound, allowing just 1 hit over 5 complete innings and striking out 4 and walking 1. Drew Duckhorn slammed the door in relief allowing 0 hits and 0 runs and picked up the save. Offensively the Hornets scored first when Max Waskiewicz singled to start the game, stole 2nd base, advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on Kyle Jannenga's rbi groundout to shortstop. The Hornets scored the winning run after Parker Bozzi doubled to start the 4th inning. Bozzi scored from third with heads up baserunning on a dropped third strike. The Hornets had six hits: Justin Hill 2-3, Max Waskiewicz, Kyle Jannenga, Parker Bozzi, and Drew Duckhorn each had hits. The Hornets defense and pitching was superb as they defeated an excellent Oak Park team 2-1 in a very well played high school game. The Hornets are now 13-4 and 6-0 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
JV 4/23/2022 - Oak Park River Forest L 5-6 Poor defense cost the Hornets today as 4 of the runs scored were unearned. Sam Harmon threw a gem on the mound, recording 10 strikeouts across 6 innings pitched. Offensively Ryan Flynders had a hit and an RBI and Rudy Flores also added a hit.

The Hornets got an excellent pitching performance from Drew Duckhorn who threw a complete game striking out 13 and walking only 1. Drew allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run.Offensively the Hornets were led by Parker Bozzi 1-3 with a homer and 3 EBI's. Kyle Jannenga 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Drew Duckhorn 2-4. Max Waskiewicz, Cam Crotty, and Nick Dunwoody each had a hit. The Hornets are now 6-4 on the season and 1-0 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.

Brandon Elting got the win and Justin Hill picked up a 3 inning save. Elting is now 3-0 on the season. Offensively the Hornets were led by Nich Dunwoody 2-3 with 2 RBI's and Max Waskiewicz 2-4 with a run scored. Drew Duckhorn was 1-3 with an RBI. Justin Hill walked 3 times and scored 3 runs. The Hornets improved to 7-4 and 2-0 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Thursday the Hornets traveled to Addison and completed the sweep in a gusty, windy slugfest. The Hornets pounded out 19 hits and 18 runs enroute to a 18-11 win. Robbie Spang picked up the win pitching 4 innings. Owen Karpeck and Justin Hill both pitched in relief. Offensively the Hornets were led by Eliot Fulscher 3-4 with a homer. Drew Duckhorn 3-5 with a homer. Max Waskiewicz and Justin Hill both had 3 hit games. Kyle Jannenga and Nick Dunwoody both had 2 hits. Parker Bozzi, Chris Prosek, and Drew Deolitsis each added a hit. The Hornets are now 8-4 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.

Nathaniel Fundator picked up the win pitching four innings. striking out 4, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. Lucas Duffy and Justin Hill both pitched in relief to help preserve the victory. Offensively the Hornets were led by Drew Duckhorn 2-4 with a 3 run double and Parker Bozzi who went 2-3 with a 2 run double. Nick Dunwoody was 1-1 with 2 RBI;s. The Hornets got hits from Max Waskiewicz, Kyle Jannenga, Justin Hill, Eliot Fulscher, and Drew Deolitsis. The Hornets are now 9-4 on the season.
JV 4/11/2022 - Addison Trail W 7-4 The Hornets got back in the win column thanks to a complete game on the mound from Alex Mazur. Alex threw 7 innings and had 9 strikeouts. Offensively the Hornets were led by Leydon Spang and Henry Joyce. Spang was 2 for 2 with a double, single, and with walks while tallying 2 RBIs. Joyce was 2 for 4 with a double, single, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Noah Ririe was also 1 for 2 with a run scored.
4/12/2022 - Addison Trail L 4-5 The Hornets dropped game 2 to the Trail Blazers in a hard fought game. AJ Fulscher started on the mound having thrown 4 innings and recording 6 strikeouts. Fulscher also was solid at the plate, batting 2 for 5 with a run scored. Jacob Nick also hit well, batting 2 for 3 with a double and single.
4/14/2022 - Addison Trail L 5-8 Sam Harmon started the final game of the series against Addison Trail going 4 ⅓ innings. Having settled in after the 1st inning Sam had 6 strikeouts before handing the ball off to Leydon Spang and eventually Jacob Nick. The Hornets had a late rally, scoring 4 of our runs in the 6th and 7th inning thanks to RBIs from Henry Joyce, Nathaniel Fundator, Alex Mazur and Rudy Flores.
4/16/2022 - Glenbard West L 7-12 Leydon Spang started the game on the mound for the Hornets, getting his first start of his career on the mound. Leydon threw 3 innings before passing off to Jacob Nick who threw the rest of the game. AJ Fulscher went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, a walk and 2 runs scored. Evan Choisser was also solid at the plate recording 1 single and reaching on a walk.

Varsity On Tuesday April 5th, the Hornets hosted Barrington in a chilly early evening game. The Hornets bats were cold as well as they dropped the contest 11-0. The Hornets highlight would have been Drew Duckhorn pitching 3 innings allowing only 2 earned runs while striking out 9 hitters and walking 2. The Hornets also had mound appearenaces from Brandon Elting and Owen Karpeck. The only hit for the Hornets came from Justin Hill.
On Saturday April 9th, the Hornets rebounded with an excellent win vs West Suburban Silver foe Downers Grove North. The Hornets prevailed 4-2 in an excellent high school baseball game. Kyle Jannenga got the Hornets on the board in the first inning with a 400 foot homer to drive in Max Waskiewicz. The Hornets scored two more in the first. Justin Hill doubled, Parker Bozzi drove him in with a single and later scored on a wild pitch. The Hornets also had hits from Nick Dunwoody, Eliot Fulscher and Max Waskiewicz. On the mound was the story; where Robbie Spang was masterful in 5 2/3 innings allowing just 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Spang struckout 4 and walked 2 picking up his 2nd win of the season. Justin Hill pitched the final 1 1/3 innings holding DGN scoreless and picking up his second save of the season. The Hornets are now 5-4 on the season and start conference play on Monday.
JV 4/05/2022 - Barrington - L 1-22 In a poorly played game the Hornets still had a few bright spots. Offensively Nathaniel Fundator had a triple and eventually scored on a Leydon Spang ground ball. Nathaniel also made a stellar defensive play in left field, turning a double play by catching a fly ball and throwing out a Barrington runner at the plate.
4/09/2022 - Downers Grove North L 7-9 Sam Harmon had a solid game starting and throwing 5 innings with 1 earned run. Sam also had 5 strikeouts threw those 5 innings. The Hornets had a few stand out offensive players today. Leydon Spang went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, Henry Joyce was 1 for 3 with an RBI double, Braeden Meeker reached base twice (both times hit by a pitch) and finally Noah Ririe was 1 for 2 with a single and a run scored.

Varsity On Monday 3/28 the Hornets played Memphis Home at the famous USA Stadium in Millington Tennessee. The Hornets fell behind early by a score of 4-1 but scored 4 in the top of the second to take a 5-4 lead and never trailed again. The Hornets pounded out 15 hits and 4 triples en route to a 21-4 victory. Brandon Elting picked up his second win of the season; pitching 3 innings and striking out 7, while allowing 2 earned runs. Lucas Duffy and Owen Karpeck each pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Offensively the Hornets were led by Kyle Jannenga 3-3 with a triple and 4 RBI's and Drew Duckhorn who was 3-3 with two triples and 3 RBI's. Max Waskiewicz, Nick Dunwoody, Robbie Spang, Nathaniel Fundator, Rudy Flores, Andrew Miller, Henry Joyce, Sam Harmon and Jacob Nick all had hits.
On Tuesday 3/29 the Hornet traveled to Memphis and played White Station. The Hornets won an exciting game by the score of 5-4. Lucas Duffy picked up the win, pitching 4 innings and allowing just 1 earned run. Owen Karpeck pitched 2 innings and allowed 1 earned run and received a hold. Justin Hill threw the scoreless 7th inning to get the save and to preserve the win. Offensively the Hornets were led by Justin Hill who was 2-4 with a homer, a double, a run scored and an RBI. Nick Dunwoody and Drew Deolitsis each had 2 hits. Max Waskiewicz and Cam Crotty both had hits and runs scored as well.
Following the White Station game the Hornets traveled to Germantown Tennessee to take on the 5th ranked team in Tennessee; Houston HS under the lights on Tuesday evening. The Hornets looked tired as they dropped a 9-1 game to the Mustangs of Houston. The Hornets had hits from Max Waskiewicz, Eliot Fulscher, Kyle Jannenga, Nick Dunwoody and Cam Crotty. The Hornets are currently 4-3 on the season as they head home from the Memphis area.
JV 3/29/2022 - Houston - L 1-9 The spring break trip concluded with a JV game against Houston High school. Andrew Miller had a few good innings on the mound before succumbing to a thumb injury. AJ Fulscher came in and closed out the rest of the game. Jacob Charters provided the only offense for the Hornets, going 1 for 3 with an RBI double.

Varsity The Hornets opened the season with a 7-3 victory over Shepard HS on Tuesday March 22nd. The Hornets were led offensively by Nick Dunwoody (2-3 with an RBI), Max Waskiewicz (1-1, with a walk and a run scored), Brandon Elting (1-1 with a 2 RBI double) and Eliot Fulscher (2-2 with a homer and 2 RBI's).
Drew Duckhorn started on the mound and pitched 3 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 3. Brandon Elting came in in relief allowing 2 runs while striking out 3 and picking up the win.
On Friday March 25th the Hornets traveled to Morton Illinois to take on the Potters. The Hornets were defeated 12-2 in 6 innings in a bitterly cold game. Nathaniel Fundator picked up the loss. The Hornets divided up the game in relief as they had just started their spring break trip. Brandon Elting, Justin Hill, Owen Karpeck, Lucas Duffy and AJ Fulscher all made an appearance on the mound.
Offensively the Hornets had hits from Parker Bozzi, Eliot Fulscher, and Max Waskiewicz.
On Saturday 3/26 the Hornets traveled to Olive Branch Mississippi to play in the Crawdad Classic at Lewisburg HS. The Hornets opened up against Cleveland Central High School from Mississippi with a 10-0 win. Robbie Spang pitched a complete game 3 hit shutout; striking out 4 and walking 2.
Offensively the Hornets had 8 hits and were led by the following: Max Waskiewicz 1-3, Kyle Jannenga 2-4 with an RBI, Parker Bozzi 1-3 with an RBI, Justin Hill 2-3 with 2 runs scored, 3 RBI's, with a triple and a homer, Cam Crotty and Drew Duckhorn were each 1-3 with a run scored.
In the night cap the Hornets played tournament host and the 4th ranked Mississippi baseball team Lewisburg HS. Lewisburg took an early 2-0 lead but the Hornets battled back in the top of the second scoring 6 runs. The atmosphere was electric and the stadium was packed for this early season battle under the lights. The Hornets had a 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the sixth when Lewisburg scored 4 runs and held on for a 10-7 win.
The Hornets were led offensively by Drew Duckhorn, Justin Hill and Nick Dunwoody who each had RBI's. Kyle Jannenga, MaxWaskiewicz, and Drew Duckhorn had hits.
On the mound Justin Hill picked up the tough loss in relief of Drew Duckhorn. Hill allowed only 1 earned run. The Hornets are now 2-2 on the season.
JV 3/22/2022 - Shepard - W 3-2 Hornets won 3 - 2 over Shepard thanks to a solid pitching outing from Sam Harmon and Alex Mazur. Sam and Alex combined for 14 strikeouts across 7 innings pitched. Offensively the Hornets were led by Andrew Miller and Henry Joyce. Andrew Miller was 1 for 2 with a double, a run scored, and a steal. Henry Joyce had a solid start to the season going 1 for 1 with a single, walk and RBI Sac fly.
3/26/2022 - Lewisberg - L 0-9 The Hornet JV team kicked off the spring break trip against a solid Lewisberg team in Mississippi.
