Week of January 23rd On Monday, the Hornet Bowlers hosted a non conference match against Lemont High School. The Hornets started fast and held on to defeat Lemont. The Varsity Hornets defeated Lemont by a score of 1673-1347. Senior Ashley Leban led the team with a 588 series. The JV Hornets also defeated Lemont. Junior Juliana Clemens led the JV team with a 418 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 5-7 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 9-3.
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a conference foe Morton High School. This was the Senior night for the team and Coach Nelson recognized the seniors prior to the match. The seniors include Ashley Leban, Maggie Koubenec, Katie Corson, Amy Driggers, Fern Lyon, Olivia Mohil and Zoe Funk.This was also a chance for the team and athletic department to recognize the retirement of head coach Carrie Nelson after 13 years as coach.This conference match saw the Hornets bowl a strong 3rd game, but ultimately fell to Morton. They were defeated by a score of 2875-2343. Senior Ashley Leban, with a 525 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a consistent 3 games but were defeated by the Mustangs 2513-2003. Sophomore Mandy Aylward led the JV Lady Hornets with 432 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 5-8 overall and 1-7 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornets visited the Bolingbrook Raiders at Bowlero in Romeoville. The Hornets bowled better each game and were able to defeat the Raiders 2055-2041. Senior Ashley Leban led the varsity team with a 506 series. The JV Hornets were also able to defeat the Raiders 1274-1005. Senior Zoe Funk led the JV team with a 358 series. The Hornets moved to 6-8 on varsity and 10-4 on JV.
On Thursday, the Hornet Bowlers competed in the JV Quigley Invite. This is a tournament for the newer bowlers on the team to get them some tournament experience. The Hornet JV Bowlers were able to bowl well and placed 7th in the tournament. The team was led by Freshman Lilly Davy with a 376 series and Senior Zoe Funk with a 372 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Bowlers competed in the Leyden Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started slow but improved throughout the day. Senior Ashley Leban continued her incredible week bowling the 2nd highest series of the entire tournament, 1248 pins in the 6 games.. Sophomore Mandy Aylward chipped in a 828 series and the Hornets finished in 2nd place in the consolation bracket. Ashley received awards for two high games (244 and 267) and the award for the 2nd highest overall series of the tournament.
Week of January 9th On Thursday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, the Leyden Eagles. This conference match saw the Hornets bowl consistently for all 3 games but were defeated by the Eagles by a score of 2923-2567. Senior Ashley Leban, with a 550 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers also bowled consistently but were also defeated by the Eagles 2191-1949. Senior Amy Driggers led the JV Lady Hornets with a 355 series and Freshman Lilly Davy added a personal best 347 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 7-3 overall and 4-2 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Friday, the Hornets hosted the 22nd annual Ed Puck/Bob Lichter Hornet Invite at Bowlero. This tournament features 6 bowlers from each of the 8 teams invited, bowling 6 games in quick succession. The Lady Hornets were able to place 7th with 4928 total series. They were led by Senior Ashley Leban with a 952 series and Sophomore Dyana Banian with an 879 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity Bowlers competed in the Fenton Fred Green Classic Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started slow but improved throughout the day. Senior Ashley Leban continued her strong week bowling the highest series of the day, 1089 pins in the 6 games placing 16th individually. Freshman Lilly Davy, Sophomore Mandy Aylward and Junior Juliana Clemens demonstrated excellent sportsmanship by bowling with St Charles East High School in games they weren’t bowling with the Hornets because the Saints were short bowlers. The Hornets finished in 16th place in the invite.
Week of December 5th On Tuesday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team visited conference foe and D86 sister school Hinsdale Central High School. The Lady Hornets started slowly but made a dramatic comeback to ultimately defeat Hinsdale Central 2363-2347. Senior Ashley Leban led the Hornets with a 474 series and Senior Maggie Koubenec added a 407. The JV team bowled better each game and also defeated Central 1941-1922. Senior Amy Driggers led the JV team with a 380 series and a season high game of 187. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference. The JV Lady Hornets also moved to 2-2 and 1-1 in conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a non-conference foe Naperville North. This match saw the Lady Hornets bowl three strong games and defeat Naperville North 2469-2121. Senior Ashley Leban led the Hornets with a 476 series and Senior Maggie Koubenec shot a 462 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were consistent in all three games and defeated Naperville North 1439-1006. Senior Amy Driggers led the JV Lady Hornets with a 414 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in West Suburban Conference.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted West Suburban Conference member York High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers bowled a consistent 3 games but lost to York 2949-2479. Senior Ashley Leban led the varsity bowlers with a 495 series. The JV team also improved each game and defeated York 1963-1775. Junior Juliana Clemens led the JV team with a 411 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 3-3 and 1-2 in conference and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 4-2 and 2-1 in conference.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in the Plainfield North Strikefest. This is a tournament featuring 44 teams from across the state including some of the best teams. The Hornets finished in 1st place on the day in the Copper Division. The Hornet bowlers were led by Senior Ashley Leban with a 975 series and Senior Maggie Koubenec with a 870 series.
Week of November 28th On Monday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team hosted non-conference foe Fenton High School. The Lady Hornets had a strong 2nd game and were able to hold on to defeat Fenton 1952-1856. Senior Ashley Leban led the varsity with a 535 series. The JV team bowled better each game and defeated Fenton 637-517. Junior Kelsey Pettry led the JV team with a 368 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 1-0 on the season. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-0.
On Wednesday, the Hornets visited Sandburg High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers were forced to bowl only one game against Sandburg. The team had a cold start and fell to Sandburg 681-809. Junior Ashley Leban led the varsity bowlers with a 184 game. The JV team also fell to Sandburg 502-531. Junior Dyana Banian led the JV team with a 112 game. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 1-1 and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-1.
On Thursday, the Hornets visited Downers Grove South High School for their first West Suburban Conference Match. The Lady Hornets Bowlers bowled two strong games but ultimately fell to the Mustangs 2686-2443. Senior Ashley Leban led the varsity bowlers with a strong 609 series. The JV team fell in a close match 2047-1920. Junior Juliana Clemens led the JV team with a 383 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 1-2 (0-1 WSC) and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-2 (0-1 WSC).
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady JV Bowlers competed in the Joliet Central JV Invite. This is a tournament featuring 12 teams from the south and west suburbs. The Hornets finished in 5th place on the day. The JV Hornet bowlers were led by Junior Olivia Uba with a 882 series and sophomore Mandy Aylward with a 754 series. The Hornets finished only 23 pins out of 3rd place and Olivia Uba earned a medal finishing 6th place individually in the tournament.
Week of November 21st The Hornets had their first tournament on Saturday hosted by Plainfield Central. The Hornets finished in 12th place. Top Bowler for the team was Ashley Leaban 6 game series was 947, high game 191 and finished in 27th place out of 96 bowlers. Maggie Koubenec had an 811 6 game series high game of 150 and finished 47th place. We looked forward to improving throughout the season.
Week of November 14th The Girls Bowling Team is looking forward to a successful season. We have 5 returning seniors Ashley Leban, Maggie Koubenec, Olivia Mohil, Amy Driggers, Fern Lyon, We welcome 2 new seniors Katie Corson, and Zoe Funk. The juniors are Olivia Uba, Kelsey Petry, new are Juliana Clammens and Paige Jachim. The sophomores are Dyana Banian, and new to the team Mandy Aylwrad. Excited to have freshman Lilly Davy.
