Week of May 24th
This week the Boys Tennis team took on Nazareth Academy on Monday night and fell 0-5. Despite strong play across the board, the Hornets were without their top doubles team, and the depth of Nazareth was too much to overcome as players moved up in the lineup. Of note was a strong performance by Rithik Selvaraj and Shivan Patel who lost 4-6, 3-6 at the first doubles position. Later in the week, the Hornets captured second place in conference with great play on both Friday and Saturday that culminated in all 11 players being all-conference and three players (Zane Bisharat – 1st singles and Aaron John/ Christian Choi – 1st doubles) being conference champions. Up next, Benet Academy on Tuesday and then sectionals.
Week of May 17th
Varsity On Tuesday of this week the Hornets took on Proviso East, winning 7-0 and avenging a first singles loss from earlier in the season. On Wednesday they ran into a very good LT team and fell 0-7. Thursday they lost 3-4 to conference rival DGS for the second time this season. They Hornets are now 1 point behind DGS heading into the conference tournament, a position they have been in multiple times en route to conference titles over the years. They’ll need a good week of practice and a strong tournament in order to take home the conference championship next weekend.

Week of May 3rd
Varsity Busy week for the Hornets! This week the boys saw five matches in a span of five days. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, they squared off against conference opponents Morton, Addison Trail, and Morton again and went 3-0 (19-2). On Monday and Wednesday, they went to work against Glenbard West and Hinsdale Central on the other side of the conference, and went 0-2 against two tough teams. While the top of the lineup is playing as strong as ever, newcomers to varsity Elijah John, Ryan Mueller, Hunter Long, and Alex Hurka are finding ways to contribute in a big way and keeping the team in the hunt for a conference title. Next week the Hornets have another busy schedule, with some more conference matches and duals with York and DGN. Should be a great week!
Week of April 26th
Varsity A tough week for Hornet Tennis. This week the boys squared off against conference rivals Downers Grove South and Willowbrook. On Tuesday the team fell 3-4 to DGS, but won at the first and second singles positions behind stellar play from Zane Bisharat and Dhruv Vaze, and also at the first doubles position with Aaron John and Rithik Selvaraj holding down that spot. Thursday was a nail-biter versus Willowbrook. The team won 6-1, but two of the seven matches came down to a third set tiebreaker. The 2nd doubles team of Shivan Patel and Christian Choi had a great comeback win with a 10-3 third set tiebreaker score, and the 4th doubles team of Alex Hurka and Hunter Long found similar success with a 12-10 third set tiebreaker score. The varsity squad won 6-1, with great play by singles players Christian Choi, Shiv Patel, and Cameron Chamberlain. Junior Cameron Chamberlain is now 2-0 on the season at the third singles position and has not not dropped a game yet! Next week conference play picks up with matches versus Downers Grove South and Willowbrook. After some great practices this week, the boys are looking poised to go to battle with two of our toughest conference rivals.
Week of April 12th
Varsity This was a great week for the Boys Tennis team. They started off their season 2-0 with wins against conference opponents Addison Trail (7-0) and Leyden (7-0). Former state qualifiers Zane Bisharat, Dhruv Vaze, and Aaron John picked up right where they left off two seasons ago representing the team at the first singles, and first doubles position respectively. Seniors Christian Choi and Shiv Patel have also seen their first varsity matches of their high school careers, and have made a nice addition to the top of the lineup. Freshman Rithik Selvaraj has been a nice surprise early in the season, holding down the second doubles position this week (first with Christian and then with Shiv). Cameron Chamberlain also saw his first varsity action this week with a quality 0,0 win at the 3rd singles position versus Leyden. Back to the practice courts this week with a match against Proviso East on Thursday. Some great wins early, but a lot of work to put in yet. Go Hornets!
