On Monday, the Varsity Lady Hornet bowlers competed in the West Suburban Conference John Ryan tournament. The Hornets bowled a 4980 series and finished in 9th place. The team started off strong with a first series of 2556 but struggled with a 2424 second series, which moved them from 6th to 9th place. Junior Ashley Leban, with a 997 series, led the Hornets and Senior Dana Euske added a 914 series. Seniors Dana Euske, Madison Velasquez, Elizabeth Vandercar, Jodi Strenzel-Gibson and Natalie Szabo were recognized as Academic All Conference bowlers and Junior Ashley Leban was recognized as an All Conference bowler.
On Saturday, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA Regional tournament hosted by Matea Valley at Fox Bowl. The Hornets started strong but struggled in the afternoon. They finished with 4457 total pins and finished 7nd at the Regional. Senior Dana Euske led the Hornets with a 1059 series and finished 1st overall individually in qualifying for Sectionals. Sophomore Kelsey Pettry also competed in the Bowling Chair division and had her highest series and game of the year. She qualified for sectional with a season high 731 series and season high 163 game.
Week of January 24th
On Monday, the Hornet Bowlers hosted a non conference match against Argo High School. This was the Senior night for the team and Coach Nelson recognized the seniors prior to the match. The seniors include Dana Euske, Madison Velasquez, Jodi Strenzel-Gibson, Elizabeth Vandercar, and Natalie Szabo. The Hornets started slowly but were able to improve in game 2 and 3. The Varsity Hornets defeated Argo by a score of 2241-2074. Senior Dana Euske led the team with a 496 series and senior Elizabeth Vandercar contributed a nice 470 series. The JV Hornets also defeated Argo by a score of 1689-1400. Junior Maggie Koubenec led the team with a 394 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 5-7 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 8-4.
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a conference foe Willowbrook High School. This conference match saw the Hornets bowl a strong 1st game, but scores waned in games 2 and 3. They were defeated by Willowbrook by a score of 2952-2670. Junior Ashley Leban, with a 527 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a consistent 3 games but were defeated by the Warriors 2065-1885. Sophomore Emilia Drab and Freshman Diana Banian led the JV Lady Hornets with 358 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 5-8 overall and 1-7 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 8-5 overall and 4-4 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornets hosted the Bolingbrook Raiders at Bowlero. The Hornets bowled better each game and were able to defeat the Raiders 2206-1878. Senior Dana Euske led the varsity team with a 505 series. The JV Hornets were also able to defeat the Raiders 936-815. Senior Natalie Szabo led the JV team with a 396 series. The Hornets moved to 6-8 on varsity and 9-5 on JV.
On Thursday, the Hornet Bowlers competed in the JV Quigley Invite. This is a tournament for the newer bowlers on the team to get them some tournament experience. The Hornet JV Bowlers were able to bowl well and placed 5th in the tournament. The team was led by Sophomore Emilia Drab with a 334 series and Sophomore Kelsey Pettry with a 331 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Bowlers competed in the Leyden Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started slow but improved throughout the day. Junior Ashley Leban continued her strong week bowling the highest series of the day, 952 pins in the 6 games.. Senior Jodi Strenzel-Gibson chipped in a 823 series and the Hornets finished in 12th place.
Week of January 17th
Monday, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the JV participated in the Joliet West Freshmen/Sophomore Invite. The Hornets Bowled consistently with some very nice scores from new bowlers. The team finished in 15th place. Sophomore Emilia Drab led the team with a 770 series. Freshman Diana Banian also had a nice day with her season high series of 689.
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, the Leyden Eagles. This conference matches saw the Hornets bowl consistently for all 3 games but were defeated by the Eagles by a score of 2674-2453. Junior Ashley Leban, with a 491 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a strong 1st and 2nd game and hung on to defeat the Eagles 1874-1852.. Junior Maggie Koubenec led the JV Lady Hornets with a 381 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a non-conference foe Naperville North. This match saw the Lady Hornets come from behind in game 3 and defeat Naperville North 2014-1985. Senior Dana Euske led the Hornets with a 481 series and Junior Ashley Leban shot a 463 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were consistent in all three games and defeated Naperville North. Sophomore Emilia Drab led the JV Lady Hornets with a 353 series and Freshman Maya Hashim shot a 352 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 4-6 overall and 1-5 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 6-4 overall and 3-3 in West Suburban Conference.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted Downers Grove North High School. The Hornets bowled 3 good games, but DGN bowled an outstanding 3rd game and were able to win the match 2698-2577. Junior Ashley Leban led the varsity team with a 512 series. The JV team was able to put up a strong third game and came from behind to win the match 1738-1732. Junior Reese Sesemann led the JV team with a 352 series. The varsity fell to 4-7 overall and 1-6 in West Suburban Conference and the JV improved to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in conference.
Week of January 10th
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, the Addison Trail Blazers. This conference match saw the Hornets bowl consistently for all 3 games but were defeated by the Blazers by a score of 2659-2449. Junior Ashley Leban, with a 503 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a strong 3rd game and were able to defeat the Blazers 1737-1623. Freshman Dyana Banian led the JV Lady Hornets with a season high 431 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in West Suburban Conference.
On Friday, the Hornets hosted the 21st annual Ed Puck/Bob Lichter Hornet Invite at Bowlero. This tournament features 6 bowlers from each of the 8 teams invited, bowling 6 games in quick succession. The Lady Hornets were able to place 7th and were led by Junior Ashley Leban with a 928 series and Senior Dana Euske with a 900 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity Bowlers competed in the Fenton Fred Green Classic Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets started slow but improved throughout the day. Junior Ashley Leban continued her strong week bowling the highest series of the day, 1032 pins in the 6 games.. Senior Dana Euske chipped in a 979 series and the Hornets finished in 18th place.
Week of January 3rd

On Monday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team visited Strike & Spare Lanes to face off with Lemont High School. The Lady Hornets bowled well in their three games defeating Lemont 2112-1816. Senior Dana Euske led the team with a 498 series. Lemont did not field a JV team, so the junior varsity hornets bowled uncontested. Freshman Dyana Banian led the JV team with a 232 series in two games. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 3-3 and 1-2 in conference.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in the Oswego East Bowling Tournament. This is a tournament featuring 15 varsity teams and 15 JV teams. The Varsity Hornets finished in 11th place on the day led by Ashley Leban’s season high 1039 series. The 1039 series by Ashley helped her finish in 20th place individually. The JV Hornet bowlers were led by Freshman Maya Hashim with a 661 series and Sophomore Emilia Drab with a 630 series. The JV Hornet Bowlers finished in 8th place on the day.
Week of December 6th
On Tuesday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team hosted conference foe Downers Grove South High School. The Lady Hornets bowled well in their three games but ultimately fell to DGS 3254-2657. Junior Ashley Leban led the Hornets with a 567 series and Senior Dana Euske added a 501. The JV team bowled better each game but also fell to DGS 2209-1915. Junior Olivia Mohil led the JV team with a 417 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-3 and 0-2 in conference.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted fellow district 86 school Hinsdale Central High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers bowled a consistent 3 games and defeated Hinsdale Central 2437-2314. Senior Dana Euske led the varsity bowlers with a 533. The JV team also improved each game and defeated Central 1913-1806. Freshman Dyana Banian led the JV team with a 341 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 2-3 and 1-2 in conference and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 2-3 and 1-2 in conference.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in the Plainfield North Strikefest. This is a tournament featuring 44 teams from the across the state including some of the best teams. The Hornets finished in 9th place on the day in the Bronze Division. The Hornet bowlers were led by Senior Dana Euske with a 952 series and Junior Ashley Leban with a 878 series.
Week of November 29th
On Monday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team hosted non-conference foe Fenton High School. The Lady Hornets struggled in their three games and fell to Fenton 2214-2164. Senior Dana Euske led the varsity with a 487 series and Junior Ashley Leban followed with a 464 series. The JV team bowled better each game and defeated Fenton 1474-1294. Junior Fern Lyon led the JV team with a 312 series and Junior Maggie Koubenec followed with a 297 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 0-1 on the season. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-0.
On Tuesday, the Hornets visited Morton High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers started slow and were able to improve each game, but lost to Morton 2506-2379. Junior Ashley Leban led the varsity bowlers with a 519. The JV team also improved each game but also lost to Morton 1956-1762. Junior Maggie Koubenec led the JV team with a 323 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 0-2 and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-1.
On Wednesday, the Hornets hosted Sandburg High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers started strong and were able to defeat the Eagles 1644-1435. Senior Dana Euske led the varsity bowlers with a 336 series. The JV team fell in a close match 1163-1114. Freshman Maya Hashim led the JV team with a 210 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 1-2 and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-2.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady JV Bowlers competed in the Joliet Central JV Invite. This is a tournament featuring 10 teams from the south and west suburbs. The Hornets finished in 9th place on the day. The JV Hornet bowlers were led by sophomore Olivia Uba with a 724 series and sophomore Kelsey Pettry with a 621 series.
Week of November 22nd
On Saturday, November 27th, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in their first tournament of the 2021-2022 season. This was the 22 team Plainfield Central Wildcat Invite. This is an excellent tournament with some of the best teams in Illinois. The Hornets bowled consistently all day, but with a young team, they stayed in the middle of the pack. The team finished in 16th place. The Hornets were paced by Junior Ashley Leban with a 860 series and senior Dana Euske with a 885 series.
