Week of May 9th
Female Athlete of the Week: Maggie Chen, Badminton

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Maggie Chen. Maggie finished her junior year of badminton winning all-state honors by placing 5th at the IHSA State Badminton Championships!  She completed an amazing season with a 40-0 record and only one loss in the state tournament.  This is Maggie’s second season earning all-state honors after she finished third at the state meet last year.  Maggie has continued to improve her game and came in this season even stronger than last year.  Maggie’s growth is a true testament to the hard work and countless hours she spends working on her craft.  Congratulations Maggie Chen on another unbelievable badminton season!

Male Athlete of the Week: Joey Pacentine, Volleyball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Joey Pacentine. Joey led the hornets to a 5-2 week and a second place finish at the Richards tournament this week. With over 35 digs on the week Joey had some fantastic serve receive to go along with some great defense. Great job Joey! Congratulations on a great week!


Week of May 2nd
Female Athlete of the Week: Katie Joseph, Track

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Katie Joseph. Katie stepped it up this week and was moved from the FS level to the Varsity level to compete in both the 4x100, 4x200m relays and they placed 3rd and 2nd. She helped to drive home an All - Conference relay for our team. She continues to work hard and give it her all day in and day out throughout this season. Great job Katie! Congratulations on a great meet!

Male Athlete of the Week: Robbie Spang, Baseball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Robbie Spang. Robbie was brilliant in 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing 0 earned runs and two hits while striking out 4 in the series finale vs Downers Grove South.  The Hornets got the 3-1 victory and the series win! Robbie is now 6-0 on the hill for the Hornets this season. Great job Robbie! Congratulations on a great game!


Week of April 25th
Female Athlete of the Week: Sam Mettel, Badminton

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Sam Mettel. Sam has had a great badminton season this year and finished it off with a great week of competition.  Sam has worked her way up to playing #5 singles and #2 doubles for Hinsdale South.  This is a great credit to her hard work and humble demeanor.  Sam quietly goes out and puts the work in to be a great badminton player.  This past week Sam won a Conference Championship at #5 singles and also helped our #2 doubles win a Conference Championship as well.  Sam and her partner were seeded 6th at #2 doubles and convincingly beat the #3, #2 and #1 seeds to earn this Conference Championship!  Congratulations to Sam for all her hard work and successes! 

Male Athlete of the Week: Noah Sadowski, Track

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week to Noah Sadowski. Noah just competed in the Mike Yavorski Invitational and had a fantastic evening on the track.  He took 1st place in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash where he had another PR.  In addition, Noah was the anchor of the 1st place 4x200 relay team as well as the 3rd place 4x100 relay team.  His hard work and dedication continues to impress everyone around him.  Good luck to Noah the remainder of the season. Great job Noah! Congratulations on a great meet!


Week of April 18th
Female Athlete of the Week: Kate Haffner, Track

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Kate Haffner. This week Mother Nature finally gave way to some nice spring weather, but not on meet days…. On Wednesday, we hosted the Hornet Invite. Of course, Mother Nature blessed us with cold, wind, and rain. Kate a senior did not let the storm get to her. She cranked out a huge PR to win the 1600m run in 5:58.9.  Great job Kate! Congratulations on a great race!

Male Athlete of the Week: Cole Korfist, Volleyball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Cole Korfist. Cole led the Varsity to a 3-0 week with wins over Leyden, Riverside Brookfield and St. Laurence. During the week, Cole showed tremendous play at the net as he recorded 19 kills, he also had 4 aces and 7 digs pushing the hornets to a 10-5 record on the season. Great job Cole! Congratulations on a great week!


Week of April 11th
Female Athlete of the Week: Nikki Berger, Softball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Nikki Berger. Nikki has earned every recognition she has been given from last year to this year. This past week against Nazareth, Downers Grove North, Fenwick, Hinsdale Central, and Muchin College Prep, Nikki collected a total of 9 hits in 17 at bats for a .529 batting average. She was 3/4 against Naz with a single, double, and homerun. In that game alone, she had 2 RBIs, 3 runs scored. Against DGN, she had our only RBI of the game. She had a homerun against Fenwick and was 2/2 against Hinsdale Central. Her fielding is also noteworthy. She moved into the position of shortstop with ease and has a .966 fielding percentage. We are so very lucky to have her on our team! Keep moving the bus, Nikki! Congratulations on a great Week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Drew Duckhorn, Baseball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Drew Duckhorn. Drew went 8-16 at the plate in the Hornets 4 wins.  The Hornets swept Addison Trail in the three game series and then defeated Glenbard West in West Suburban Cross over game on Saturday. Drew had 3 doubles, a home run and 6 RBI’s at the plate. On the mound Drew pitched a complete game vs Addison Trail striking out 13 hitters and walking 1 while allowing just 1 run on 4 hits. Congratulations to Drew and the Hornets on an excellent start to conference play. Congratulations and keep up the good work during the season! Great job Drew!

Female Athlete of the Week: Megan Tai, Badminton

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Megan Tai. Megan has had a great season of badminton so far!  She has made herself into a super strong and talented singles player with her awesome dedication in the off-season.  Megan currently has risen to our second singles player and continues to improve each week.  She had a great week of badminton, beating, Oak Lawn, Downers South, Downers North, Naperville Central, East Aurora, Rolling Meadows.  Megan is making a name for herself in the badminton community with her strong play and will be a force to be reckoned with at the upcoming West Suburban Gold conference championships and the IHSA state championships. Great job Megan! Congratulations on a great Week!

Male Athlete of the Week: James Whitlock, Soccer

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week James Whitlock. This past week James scored 7 goals against Oswego High School to give the Hornets a 17-4 victory.  He can successfully play both offence and defense for the team and is a great leader as well.  He works hard and is a consistent force for the Hinsdale South Special Olympics Soccer Team. Congratulations and keep up the good work during the season! Great job James!

Female Athlete of the Week: ​Katarina Petrovic, Track

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Katarina Petrovic. Katarina a junior had great performances at the WSC Girls Track & Field Indoor Conference meet on Saturday, March 19th! Katarina placed 3rd in the 55m dash, was part of the Conference Champion 4x160 relay team and was the Conference Champion in the 200m dash. Her performances helped the Varsity team to a 3rd place finish overall. Great job Katarina! Congratulations on a great meet!

Male Athlete of the Week: ​Khamani Williams, Football

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Khamani Williams. Khamani has been a consistent force for our team and has demonstrated great leadership for our team as well.  His hard work and team attitude shows weekly.  Due to his effort, he has been producing great results for himself and for our team. This past weekend, Khamani was very busy at our conference meet where he was named All Conference leading off our 1st place 4x160 relay team and also in taking 2nd place in the long jump. In addition, he placed 5th in the 55 meter dash as well as chipping in to help the 4x400 relay team compete. Great job Khamani! Congratulations on a great meet!

Female Athlete of the Week: Kelsey Pettry, Girls Bowling

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Sophomore Kelsey Pettry. Kelsey competed in the IHSA Sectional Bowling Tournament hosted by Hinsdale South at Bowlero this past Saturday, February 12th.  Kelsey averaged a 100 over those 6 games with a high game of 108.  Kelsey advanced to the IHSA State Tournament in the Bowling Chair division and will compete on Saturday February 19th in Rockford. We are proud of how hard Kelsey has worked this season.  She has demonstrated excellent improvement as well as sportsmanship in her first year on the team. Congratulations Kelsey !  Good luck at the State Meet!

Male Athlete of the Week: Manny Wallace, Wrestling

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Manny Wallace. Manny took second place at the Sectional Tournament in an extremely tough 160-pound weight class. With this Manny earned a trip to Champaign to compete in the IHSA Wrestling State Finals. Manny finished the regular season with a 29-6 record and earned All-Conference honors and his second trip down state. Great job Manny, Congratulations on a great meet and best of luck at State! 


Week of January 31st 
Female Athlete of the Week: Ashley Leban, Girls Bowling

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Ashley Leban. Ashley competed with the team at the West Suburban Conference John Ryan Headpin Tournament and the IHSA Regional hosted by Matea Valley.  Ashley averaged a 160 over those 12 games with a high game of 201 and a high series of 997 at the John Ryan Conference Tournament.  Ashley was named an all conference bowler for West Suburban Conference and was the medalist for Hinsdale South. We are proud of how hard Ashley has worked this season.  She has demonstrated excellent leadership as well as sportsmanship in her 3 years on the team.  Great job Ashley!! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Will Gallagher, Boys Swimming

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Will Gallagher. Will has finished his four-year swimming career at Hinsdale South with 16 out of 16 conference titles.  This past Saturday, Will won the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke individual events, and was part of the winning 200 Free and 400 Free Relays, capping an outstanding career performance.  Great job Will, Congratulations on a great meet and best of luck at Sectionals and State! 


Week of January 17th
Female Athlete of the Week: Varsity Danceline

​Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week the Varsity Danceline team. The Hornet Danceline team won the IHSA Dance Sectional at Geneva High School this past weekend.  This is the SECOND time in school history that Hornet Danceline has won IHSA Sectionals. The team will compete at IHSA State Championship this weekend for the ninth consecutive year (every year since IHSA took over competitive dance in 2013).  Last year the team finished 7th at the IHSA Finals. Congratulations to these Varsity dancers: Myla Anderson, Gia Barbour, Reese Baughman, Sofia Belano, Carly Booth, Stella Carroll, Madeline Chmiel, Deirdre Cranley, Taylor Lehmann, Alana Plzak, Jady Watson & Claire Weigus. Good Luck at State!

Male Athlete of the Week: Jack Morrissey, Boys Swimming

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jack Morrissey. Jack had stellar performances against DGS at our final dual meet of the season and senior night this past week.  Jack led off the Medley Relay with a commanding swim in the backstroke leg to a big win.  Jack was 2nd in the 50 Free, and finished 1st in the 100 Back.  Jack, along with 3 of this teammates, finished the meet off with a huge win in the 400 free relay.  On Saturday, Jack swam the backstroke leg of the 3rd place medley relay team.  He finished 2nd in the 50 Free with an outstanding swim and 6th in the 100 Back against a strong field of competitors.  Their 400 Free Relay finished 4th to round out a huge weekend of success. Great job Jack!! Congratulations on a great week!


Week of December 27th
Female Athlete of the Week: Mimi Flowers, Girls Basketball

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Athlete of the week Sophomore Mimi Flowers. Mimi had a great last week of 2021. Mimi has been playing Varsity basketball since her freshman year and has shown so much growth both mentally and physically. She has been a huge asset for her team down low so far this basketball season. Mimi let her presence be known last week at the Sandburg Christmas tournament. She scored 17 points and secured 8 rebounds in a loss to Oak Forest on Monday. On Tuesday she had the same tenacity as the day before and scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds. During the consolation championship on Wednesday, Mimi led all scorers with 20 points. Mimi was rewarded for all of her hard work by being named to the all-tournament team. Great job Mimi! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Parker Chan, Boys Swimming

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Parker Chan. Parker earned “Man of the Meet” honors over the Holiday break at the Lincoln Way Central Invitational. Parker turned in a stellar backstroke split in the Medley Relay to help his teammates win that race. He came away with a clear win in the 500 freestyle and in the 100 Backstroke individual events. Finally, with his teammates Parker again helped pull out a clear win in the 200 Free Relay. All four of these races contributed to a 2nd Place overall meet finish for Hinsdale South. Well done, Parker! Congratulations on a great meet!


Week of December 13th
Female Athlete of the Week: Mia Lavorato, Girls Basketball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Mia Lavorato. Mia has been playing up on Varsity since her freshman year. She is a critical member of our team as she has the ball in her hands for the majority of the game. Mia demonstrates a sense of leadership game in and game out. She really showed her leadership on Saturday against Minooka High School. The Lady Hornets were shorthanded and Mia stepped up to the plate. She played the entire game giving it her all. She had some clutch free throws at the end of the game and played tough on the defensive end with some huge rebounds. Mia also hit a half-court shot at the end of the third quarter to spark a great fourth quarter run to claim the victory against Minooka. She had 14 points to lead all scorers in the game on Saturday. Great job Mia! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Zakhari Williams, Boys Bowling

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Zakhari Williams. Zakhari had another outstanding week bowling leading the Hornets to two wins.  On Monday he led all bowlers with a 666 series and high game of 258.  On Wednesday he again led all bowlers with a 621 series helping the team defeat Fenton.  Friday he shot his best series (697) and game (290) leading the Hornets in a win against Glenbard North.  Zakhari currently has the second highest average in school history (210).  . Great job Zakhari! Congratulations on a great week!

Week of December 6th
Female Athlete of the Week: Dana Euske, Girls Bowling

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Dana Euske. Dana competed with the team at 2 dual meets and one tournament last week.  Dana averaged 165 over those 12 games with the team high series against Hinsdale Central of 533 and a team high series of 952 at Strikefest.  Dana also chipped in a nice 501 series against Downers Grove South. Dana was the top bowler in the match against Central for all competing bowlers from both schools. She also managed to make 75% of her 1 pin spares over the course of last week. We are proud of how hard Dana has worked this season.  She has demonstrated excellent leadership as well as sportsmanship in her 4 years on the team. Great job Dana! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Brendan Savage, Boys Basketball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Brendan Savage. Playing up on varsity, Brendan has been outstanding for a young Hornets team. He keeps getting better each and every game, and that showed this past Saturday, as he put up 22 points in a big home win against rival Downers Grove South. Brendan has also been a role model teammate, and one of the hardest workers in the program. Great job Brendan! Congratulations on a great week!

Female Athlete of the Week: Alegend Brewer, Basketball

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Alegend Brewer. Alegend is a dedicated, caring and hardworking team member of the HSHS gold basketball team. One moment that exemplifies her sportsmanship was during our last game. A team member of the opposite team fell, and without hesitation Alegend offered her hand and helped the student up to the cheers of the crowd.  Alegend is a great team player and has amazing layup and rebound skills. She has shown time and again that she will give each game everything she has. Great job Alegend! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Trent Ferguson, Wrestling

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of Trent Ferguson. Trent has been a consistent performer on the Varsity wrestling team. He has never missed a practice and gives 200% every time he steps out on the mat. Last weekend, Hinsdale South hosted the Matozzi Invite, this included 10 wrestlers at each weight class. At 138 pounds, Trent took 1st place in his bracket. He won all 3 matches by pinfall, the fastest one being in 24 seconds.  .  Great job Trent! Congratulations on a great week!

Female Athlete of the Week: Charlotte Old & Abby Peterson

​Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Charlotte Old and Abby Petersen. Charlotte & Abby both had outstanding performances at the IHSA Sectional meet which allowed both of them to qualify for the IHSA State Meet this weekend! Abby secured the 5th individual qualifying spot by placing 23rd in the Sectional and Charlotte secured the 2nd individual qualifying spot by placing 8th in the Sectional (she is also an All-Sectional Athlete!)! Great job Charlotte & Abby! Congratulations on a great meet and good luck at State!

Male Athlete of the Week: Adam Fournier, Boys Cross Country

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Adam Fournier. A junior, Adam already has run varsity for all of his three seasons. He capped off an outstanding year with a great effort at the Sectional meet, missing out on a state-qualifying place by just 13 seconds. Adam is a great leader and sets an excellent example by running consistently all year long, and working hard in practice, as demonstrated by the 19-mile run he put in late this summer!! Great job Adam! Congratulations on a great season!


Week of October 18th
Female Athlete of the Week: Chase Metcalf, Girls Tennis

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Chase Metcalf. This past weekend Chase Metcalf entered the IHSA State Final as a 9-16 seed, and after tremendous play across all three days, finished in seventh place. She went 2-1 on day one of state, losing to a tough player from New Trier in the third round. On day two she battled through three tough matches, knocking off a 3/4 seed in the final match of the day to secure her spot as an all-state player. Chase is the first female tennis player to do so in 16 years. On Saturday she had a rematch versus New Trier, and though she fought admirably through injury, ultimately fell. Chase went 5-2 over these three days and her performance alone allowed Hinsdale South as a team to finish in 17th place! Great job Chase! Congratulations on a great season!

Male Athlete of the Week: Quartus Rassi, Boys Cross Country

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Quartus Rassi. Quartus is a senior leader and captain who persevered after a devastating injury ended his junior season, improving all year and running his best race ever at the IHSA Regional meet, qualifying for Sectionals! Great job Quartus! Congratulations on a great meet and good luck at the IHSA Sectional!


Week of October 11th
Female Athlete of the Week: Annabella Ramirez, Cross Country

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Annabella Ramirez. Annabella joined cross country for the first time this year as a Sophomore.  When she first started, she was running 27 minutes for 3 miles and just learning how to pace herself.  This past weekend at Conference - she ran a time of 22:30 which placed her as our number 7 runner on the Varsity level - an INCREDIBLE improvement over the course of one season.  She is just starting to reach her full potential at the end of the season and we are excited to see her grow over her remaining high school career! Great job Annabella! Congratulations on a great meet! Good luck at the IHSA Regional!

Male Athlete of the Week: Jaylin Steele, Football

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jaylin Steele. Jaylin led the way to defeat Proviso East 55-12 in a great team victory.  Jaylin had 3 rushing touchdowns early in the game, forcing a running clock later in the game.  Jaylin has overcome adversity and has demonstrated great leadership, toughness and character. Great job Jaylin! Congratulations on a great game!


Week of October 4th
Female Athlete of the Week: Dana Euske, Girls Golf

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Dana Euske.  We are so proud of all her accomplishments she had throughout her season. Medalist (lowest score of all competitors) in 12 out of our 13 matches. Finished 8th overall in the conference. Regional Qualifier 18 hole score of (81) Helped the Hornets to a 5th Place finish and Qualify for Sectionals. At Sectionals her lowest 18 hole score of her career (79) to qualify for The IHSA State Girls Tournament. State First Day (81) to advance onto day 2 (88), Finishing 71st in State! Congratulations to Dana on her successful career at Hinsdale South! We wish her the best of luck while she continues to golf in college! 

Male Athlete of the Week: Billy Gneiser, Boys Golf

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Billy Gneiser. The Hinsdale South boys’ golf team was lucky enough to have one of the best golfers in the state on its roster.  Billy Gneiser not only collected multiple awards this year, but he has been doing it for the last 3 years on Varsity.  How do you sum up what on paper was the greatest season by a Hinsdale South golfer in school history?  Billy finished in 3rd at the Lemont regional with a score of 73.  He finished tied for 8th at the Brother Rice sectional with a score of 74.  Billy saved his best golf for the state tournament, he shot a two day total of 140, which is 2 under par.  Billy's score and his 4 place tie in state are both school records.  Billy is the first All-State golfer at Hinsdale South in over 20 years.  Congrats Billy on a great season.  


Week of September 27th
Female Athlete of the Week: Zaida Apichai, Girls Golf

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Junior Zaida Apichai. Zaida had a very impressive end to her junior year golf season by qualifying and competing at the Sectional meet! Zaida shot her personal best at the Regional meet and qualified with a 90 to compete against some of the top golfers in the state. She placed 63rd out of 112 golfers at the Sectional meet at Village Greens. We are proud of her commitment, dedication and work ethic this season. Congrats to Zaida on this awesome display of South Pride! Great job Zaida! Congratulations on a great season!

Male Athlete of the Week: Tommy Gneiser, Boys Golf

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Tommy Gneiser. Tommy had an unbelievable golf season in his first year on Varsity.  He was consistently our 2nd best golfer all year.  He was team medalist on two occasions.  He made all conference, finished tied for 8th place at regionals, qualifying for sectionals.  He has a very bright future with unlimited upside. Great job Tommy! Congratulations on a great year!


Week of September 20th
Female Athlete of the Week: Cheli Ayala, Volleyball

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Junior libero Cheli Ayala. In the sport of volleyball very good defensive specialists often do not draw extra attention to themselves, they simply get their job done. Cheli does just that and even more. She may not be the loudest player on the court, but you can guarantee if there is a ball halfway across the court she will be there and will most likely give her setter a perfect pass from the ball she just chased down. Cheli is a phenomenal defensive player who makes hard digs look easy. She works to better herself every day in practice and games and has volleyball instincts second to none. Cheli has been on varsity since she was a freshman and this year has taken on a whole new level of skill in her libero role. So far this season Cheli has had 11 service aces, led the team in serve receive passing, averaging a serve receive passing of 2.11, had 5 kills, 37 assists and an impressive 166 digs in 19 matches played. Great job Cheli! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Griffin Carr, Football

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Junior captain Griffin Carr. Griffin was instrumental in the football team securing a victory on homecoming vs Morton. Griffin is a 2 way player starting on the offensive and defensive line for the second straight year.  At defensive end he had the greatest impact by helping the defense hold Morton to minus yardage in the second half.  His individual
accomplishments included: 10 tackles, 4 sacks, 6 TFL, 4 hurries,2 pass break ups & 1 sack fumble that was returned for TD.  Great job Griffin! Congratulations on a great game!

​Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week: Rachele Cameli and Courtney Kaplan. The doubles team of Cameli and Kaplan went 4-0 on Saturday 9/18 to win the top doubles flight at the Lockport Invite. In the final match of the day, after falling in the first set to Walter Payton Prep 3-6, the girls rebounded with a 7-5 second set win, and after trailing 7-9 in the 3rd set tiebreaker, came back to win 11-9 to secure their 1st place finish. What an incredible effort by these ladies! Great job Rachel & Courtney! Congratulations on a great week!
​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Alex Marth. Alex started the season with the 5th or 6th best scores on the team, for the last month he has established himself as the consistent 3rd best scorer for the Hornets. This past week he shot a 43 vs. Morton and a 48 vs. Downers Grove South. Great job Alex! Congratulations on a great Week!

Last week while playing in all 16 sets and 7 matches this senior setter tallied up 2 service aces, 3 kills, 66 assists (team leader) along with 40 digs. Peyton was voters to be a team captain this season and is a key factor to team success. When she is on the court Peyton is a difference maker in how she handles the tempo of the game and how she makes her attackers better around her. Her positive attitude, comical relief during stressful times and her leadership skills on the court are some of her best attributes as a player and leader. When conflicts have risen among the team Peyton has stepped up as a leader to address the issues within the team and has been a go-to person for other teammates to problem solved with. Great job Peyton! Congratulations on a great week!

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Logan Bryant. Logan was instrumental in securing victory over Leyden 21-0 in a defensive shutout.  He opened the scoring by returning a blocked punt for a touchdown.  Later in the game he intercepted the Leyden QB giving the offense positive field position.  He was a force throughout the night disrupting many plays.  Logan was also named captain of the week and received the coveted hitter stick award.  Great job Logan! Congratulations on a great game!

Female Athlete of the Week: Kamile Zinis, Girls Swimming

​​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Kamile Zinis. This is Kamile’s first season on Hinsdale South’s Swim and Dive team, and she has already made quite the splash. With the help of her relay team, Kamile and her team were able to score first in the 400 freestyle relay against Riverside Brookfield. Kamile excelled while swimming her 100 breast, getting 1st in the individual event. Throughout every practice, Kamile has pushed herself, always striving to put her best efforts forward. She has shown great promise and leadership potential. Great job Kamile! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Billy Gneiser, Boys Golf

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Billy Gneiser. Billy placed 5th in the Rolling Meadows invitational with a score of 71.  He was the leader in helping the Hornets secure 4th place at the Willowbrook scramble.  He has been medalist in 5 of the first 6 matches.  He had two rounds of 3 under par 33 at Ruth Lake and Oak Park Country Club.  His 9 hole and 18 hole averages are near even par for the entire season. Great job Billy! Congratulations on a great week!


Week of August 23rd
Female Athlete of the Week: Dana Euske, Girls Golf

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Dana Euske. Dana competed with the team in 4 matches last week.  Dana contributed and led the team to a strong start of the season winning 3 out of our 4 matches. Dana averaged a 38 for 9 holes. Dana improved throughout the week tremendously. Dana was 5 over par v’s York at Sugar Creek (37), 1 over par v's Naperville Central at Village Greens, and 1 over par v’s Willowbrook at Twin Lakes.  Dana was the medalist (lowest score of the match) in all 4 matches for all competing golfers from all schools.  She also managed to get her career low score. We are proud of how hard Dana has worked and demonstrated leadership as well as sportsmanship in her 4 years on the team. Great job Dana! Congratulations on a great week!

Male Athlete of the Week: Diego Castellanos, Boys Soccer

​Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Diego Castellanos. Diego helped the varsity soccer team get off to a 2-1 record to start the season. Diego forced a turnover which led to our first goal against Marian Catholic and then scored the winner in the second half to give us a 3-2 win. He also created many chances in our 4-2 win over Providence. Diego fought through a foul and had a nice left-footed finish to put the game out of reach in overtime. He’s helped get the team off to a great start. Great job Diego! Congratulations on a great week!
