Female Athlete of the Week - Grace Cvengros, Girls Soccer
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Grace Cvengros. Grace setup the play and earned the second assist after burying the winning goal over De La Salle in the Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday. Grace played the perfect through ball to Mia Yen who then found Grace making a great inside run to goal where she was able to re-direct the diagonal slotted pass by Mia. Her goal in this game was one of 9 this season. Grace was the leading scorer as a freshman on Varsity and also earned the most points on the season with 5 assists for a total of 23 points. Grace received the “Golden Boot” award for her efforts this season as our leading scorer! Congratulations to the leader of the varsity freshman squad! Congratulations Grace! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - Boys' Tennis Sectional Team
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week our Boys’ Tennis Sectional Team. Joris Bizys, Jacob John, Tony Lu, Zane Bisharat, Aaron John, and Dhruv Vaze (The Boys’ Tennis State Six). For the first time in school history, the Boys’ Tennis team is sending six players to state after capturing their first IHSA Sectional title. Joris Bizys took 1st place in singles, Jacob John took 3rd place in singles, the team of Tony Lu and Zane Bisharat took 2nd place in doubles, and the team of Dhruv Vaze and Aaron John took 3rd place in doubles. All six players will be representing HSHS at the IHSA state series starting on Thursday, May 23rd. Congratulations Joris, Jacob, Tony, Zane, Aaron & Dhruv! Go Hornets!

Female Athlete of the Week - Aimee Puz & Kaitlyn Hurka
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Aimee Puz and Kaitlyn Hurka. They were the talk of the 2019 IHSA State Badminton Championships 5/9 – 5/11 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. Kaitlyn and Aimee were a 5-8 seed in doubles going into the tournament and put on a show the entire event. They dominated their three opponents on Friday (Lake Park, TF South & Naperville Central) and then lost a tough match to the third place doubles team (Fremd) early Saturday morning. Aimee and Kaitlyn came right back and defeated three more teams (Glenbrook South and two Metea Valley teams) to earn 5th place at the tournament and All-State honors! That was a goal that Aimee and Kaitlyn had at the end of last year and they worked so hard this year to make their dream a reality. They are the definition of the idea that you must keep moving forward because that is how winning is done! Congrats Aimee & Kaitlyn! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - 4X400 Relay Team, Boys Track
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week our boys’ track and field 4x400 relay team. The 4x400 relay team took 1st place at the West Suburban Gold Conference meet this past Thursday night. The relay consists of Uche Obassi, Justin Davis, Jacob Hospes, and Jayden Arquines. These 4 athletes have had an incredible year and are looking forward to competing in this Fridays IHSA sectional state track meet at Downers Grove North. . Female Athlete of the Week - Camryn Hulvat & Danielle Wayman
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Camryn Hulvat and Danielle Wayman. The two finished off last week with all-conference honors in singles and doubles. The doubles team then entered sectionals a major underdog. Camryn and Danielle had a great sectional tournament and qualified for the IHSA State Badminton Championships. They accomplished this great feat by beating Downers Grove South’s #1 doubles not once, but twice, in order to qualify. The second time Camryn and Danielle played Downers; the Hornets won the third game 21-19! Congratulations Camryn & Danielle! Good Luck at the State Championships! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - Tommy Matulis, Boys Water Polo
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Tommy Matulis. Tommy had ALL 6 of the Hornets goals against OPRF at the Conference game, with 2 steals…earning him 2nd Team All-Conference standing with just one Conference game played! Tommy also had 2 goals and 3 steals against Waubonsie Valley in the IHSA Sectional game on Tuesday, May 7th. Congratulations Tommy on a great season! Go Hornets!

Female Athlete of the Week - Kathleen Mass, Badminton
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Kathleen Massa. Kathleen has had a fantastic badminton season! Last year Kathleen played 10th singles and she has worked hard to develop into our 2nd singles player this year. Her game is lightyears improved from last year! She has had to play the best singles players in the state this year and her record of 23-18 shows that she can hang with the best badminton players around. She earned a 2nd place finish in singles and doubles at the West Suburban Conference Gold meet this past week earning All-Conference honors. Combined with her dedication in the classroom, Kathleen is the perfect definition of the best student-athlete Hinsdale South has to offer. Congratulations Kathleen! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - Joris Bizys, Boys Tennis
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Joris Bizys. Joris has played a lot of first singles and first doubles for us this year. After finishing as a top 12 singles player in the state tournament last year, Joris has bounced around in the lineup a bit this season, finding success no matter the position. On Thursday, Joris played first singles against Nadrian Fiesta from Morton, and won a nail biter 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-4 positioning himself as the top player in the conference for the second year in a row. Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Devan Rospert. As a Senior Devan serves as a nice positive team leader. Last week we had 3 games and Devan showed her strength and endurance in the water by playing all 4 quarters of each game. Devan also had the most shots on goals and the most steals. Devan always gives 100% and we are very proud of her. Congratulations Devan! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - Ben Dorrance, Boys Water Polo
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Ben Dorrance. Ben had a great week despite two losses against York and Argo. For the week, Ben was a defensive threat with an impressive 12 Steals for the 3-games series. Ben also had 3 Assists for Goal conversions, and 1 Goal. Ben’s stats, while impressive, do not accurately reflect his presence as a threat in the tank. As a Center Defender, Ben completely shut down his opponents in the hole. Ben is a team leader in the pool and a force to be reckoned with! Congratulations Ben! Go Hornets!

Female Athlete of the Week - Aimee Puz & Kaitlyn Hurka
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Aimee Puz and Kaitlyn Hurka. Aimee & Kaitly have been on a tear in the doubles world of badminton this season. Their current record of 28-3 ranks them as one of the best teams in the state. Aimee and Kaitlyn pulled off impressive wins against Willowbrook and then capped off the week finishing second at New Trier’s Featherfest tournament. There were 64 doubles teams at New Trier, making Aimee and Kaitlyn’s finish even more impressive. Great week and season so far ladies. Keep up the hard work on your journey toward an All-State goal!
Male Athlete of the Week - Anthony Anderson, Gymnastics
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Anthony Anderson. Anthony has been an essential piece of the foundation that the gymnastics team has been built on this year. From his strong leadership skills, to the raw scores he puts on the board during meets and invites, the team owes much of its success to this individual. Anthony has increased his all-around score from last year’s record of 39.0 to a whopping 47.1. While Anthony’s most measurable achievement this season is taking second place on vault at the Wheaton Warenville South Invite, his willingness and ability to motivate his team is what truly sets him apart as an athlete.” Congratulations Anthony! Female Athlete of the Week - Erin Leake, Softball
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Erin Leake. Erin had a tremendous week at the plate boasting a .857 batting average for the week with 6 hits with 4 of those hits helped beat our crosstown rivals Hinsdale Central. Erin also had on base percentage of .857. She has been a constant threat in the lineup with her strong bat and often times being the spark the team needed to get us started. Erin also had some great catches in the outfield. Congratulations Erin! Go Hornets!
Male Athlete of the Week - Justin Davis, Boys Track
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Justin Davis. Justin continues to be one of the hardest workers and his effort is paying off with strong performances for our boys track and field team. Justin was the lead leg on our school record setting 4x400 relay team that placed 4th at the Illinois Top Times meet in Bloomington over spring break. Most recently, Justin ran in his first outdoor meet at Waubonsee Valley this past Saturday and won the 300 Hurdles with an unbelievable 41.36 which has him currently in 12th place in class 3A. Female Athlete of the Week - Samantha Pacentine, Softball
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Samantha Pacentine. Sam had a strong week competing in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee over Spring Break. Sam was strong at the plate, always keeping the defense on their toes. She also made some tremendous catches in the outfield robbing hitters of extra bases! She also played a tough second base and is a presence on the pitching rubber. Sam always comes to practice and games ready to work and will do anything that is asked of her. Keep up the great work! Male Athlete of the Week - Jame Ruzicka, Baseball
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week James Ruzicka. During the Hornets 4 game win streak, which was capped off by a big doubleheader sweep pf Riverside Brookfield. James Ruzicka hit .562 with 9 hits and scored 7 runs as the Hornets lead-off hitter. James had an on base percentage of .650 and drove in 6 runs while stealing 3 bases. James finished off the week with a walk off single to beat Riverside Brookfield 6-5. Congratulations James. Go Hornets!

Female Athlete of the Week - Ellie Urbanski, Girls Soccer
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Ellie Urbanski. Ellie was an impactful force in all three games and led us to a 2-1 start to the season. She had assists on 2 of the 3 goals and setup many plays and scoring opportunities for the team. Ellie took every corner kick, free kick, and attacking throw in to set the team up for more chances in front of the net. She played tough on every play and led the team by example for the entirety of each game, never leaving the field. Ellie placed a perfect corner kick assist in one goal and then a nice through ball pass for the second assist. Ellie is a force to be reckoned with and has earned the captain band as a sophomore standout in the first week of play! Congrats, Ellie! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Kamron Lipscomb, Boys Track
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Kamron Lipscomb. Kamron had a very successful west suburban conference meet this past Friday. Kamron had a PR in the long jump with a 21 1/2 2nd place jump. Kamron also took 1st in the triple jump and was on the 1st place 4x160 relay team. In addition to his accomplishments, Kamron qualified for this Saturday’s Illinois Top Times meet in Bloomington where he will be competing in the triple jump. Congrats, Kamron! Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Patrice Trzupek. Patrice won the 3200M at this week’s home meet and the Willowbrook Invite 2 weeks ago. She has been a key part of our team’s 4X800M and 4X400M teams. Beyond the track, her attitude and spirit are infectious to both her peers and coaches. Patrice’s dedication and positive attitude are essential to the girl’s team and are displayed in her results as an athlete. Congrats, Patrice! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Jayden Arquines, Boys Track
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jayden Arquines. Jayden a junior continued his great indoor season in his 2 meets last week. In February, Jayden placed 2nd at the Proviso West Invitational in a school record time of 1:24, which is currently 5th in the entire state. On March 1st, at the Batavia Invitational, he ran an indoor personal best time of 52.52 in the 400, and then led off our 4X400 meter relay team to a 2nd place finish with another 52 second 400. On March 4th, he led off our 4X400 relay team again with a time of 51.5, lowering our team’s time to 3:32.24 and placing 7th out of 36 at the prestigious Mustang Relays. That time is currently 9th in the State for Class 3A. On Friday, he will be competing in the 800 meter race at the Batavia Distance Madness Meet. Congrats, Jayden!

Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week - the Girls Track 4 X 160M Relay team. The team has placed 1st place in the last two meets. The team includes 2 seniors, a junior, and a freshmen. Andrea Stirling, Danai Parker, Jasmine Hobbs, and Nautica Kindred. This team won 1st place at both the Willowbrook Invitational on February 16th and the Glenbard South Tri Meet on February 21st. These ladies continue to improve and are already looking forward to Indoor Conference Meet in 2 weeks. Great Job ladies! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Tommy Matulis, Boys Swimming
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Tommy Matulis. Tommy finished up his season with a bang. After a strong Sectional meet last week, Tommy made it into the Consolation Finals of the 200 IM by placing 9th on Friday night. On Saturday, Tommy returned to the State Finals and placed 10th overall in the 200 IM, qualifying him for All-State Recognition. Tommy finished 19th in the 100 Breaststroke after breaking the Varsity Record for Hinsdale South at the Sectional meet, which has stood for 35 years. Female Athlete of the Week - Andrea Stirling, Girls Indoor Track
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Andrea Stirling. Andrea began her track year with scholarship offers to run track and continues to be recruited by several colleges and universities. Last week at the Willowbrook Invite, she took 1st place in both the 55M dash and the 200M dash. She also branched out to begin hurdling. With just a week of practice, she finished 3rd in the 55M hurdle race. This has earned her the status of having earned the Hornets more points so far this season than any other member of the team! Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Tommy Matulis & Will Gallagher. Junior Tommy Matulis had an exceptional Sectional meet. Tommy was the Sectional Champion in the 200 IM, breaking the York School Pool Record. Tommy finished 4th in the 100 Breaststroke, breaking our Varsity record and qualifying for the State meet in both his individual events. Freshman Will Gallagher swam great for his first high school championship meet. Will was the Sectional Champion in the 200 Free, breaking 34 year old sophomore record. Will finished 3rd in the 500 Free, breaking another 34 year old Sophomore record and qualifying both events for the State meet. Great Job Tommy & Will! Congratulations and good luck at State!

Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jaultiana Brown. On Saturday, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA Regional tournament The Hornets started strong and bowled consistently all day. They finished with a season high 5211 total pins and finished 3rd at the Regional. This effort qualified the team to advance to the Sectional Tournament. Junior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a season high 1236 series and finished 2nd overall individually! Great Job Jaultiana! Congratulations and good luck at the Sectional!
Male Athlete of the Week - Boys Swimming Frank Finnegan, James Kurowski & Jack Yurkovich
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week - Frank Finnegan, James Kurowski and Jack Yurkovich These young men stepped up this weekend and swam their hearts out. All three men knocked huge amounts of time off their season and lifetime bests. Frank Finnegan finished 3rd in the 200 and 500 Freestyles, moving up in ranking and scoring major points for the team. James Kurowski dropped 4 seconds in the 100 Breaststroke for a top 4 finish after being sick all week. Last, but not least, Senior Jack Yurkovich finished off his last Conference Championship meet with a huge bang with a major time drop and a 2nd place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Emily Koziol. During the week, the Hornets posted a record of 3-1. One of the wins came over Richards High School on Wednesday, January 23rd. The Hornets won the game by the score of 49-42. Emily made 6 - 3 pointers and ended the game with 20 points! Great Job Emily! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Liam Mitchell, Boys Diving
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Liam Mitchell. Liam has had a string of 5th place finishes at BIG Invitationals in the last few weeks and is preparing for the Conference Championship. Liam had a season high point total of 267 at the Lockport Steve Allen Invitational, and then came back the following week to place 5th against some of the top divers in the state. Great Job Liam! Female Athlete of the Week - Varsity Danceline
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week the Varsity Danceline Team. On Saturday, January 19, Hinsdale South Varsity Danceline qualified for IHSA Dance State for the seventh consecutive year. Hornet Danceline has qualified for IHSA Dance State every year since its start in 2013. In addition to their IHSA success, Hornet Danceline currently holds 13 Dance Category Championship titles in Kick and Pom, they are looking to add to their accomplishments at IDTA State on February 9. Male Athlete of the Week - Patrick Savage, Boys Basketball
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Patrick Savage. Patrick helped lead the Hornets to a 2-0 record on the week with wins over Montini and Addison Trail. Patrick averaged 8 points and 5 rebounds for the week. Patrick is a senior captain and his leadership has helped turn around the Hornets season. Patrick has taken on a position where he is not only guarding but also dominating the other team’s best player. Patrick’s commitment to the team and small details is what winning is all about. Female Athlete of the Week - Jennifer Cleghorn, Girls Bowling
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jennifer Cleghorn. Jennifer started the weekend off with her best series ever. She bowled a 539 morning series kicked off by her highest game ever of 219. She had a strong afternoon as well bowling a 513 series for a total of 1052 pins, her highest 6 game series ever as well. On Tuesday against DGS, she bowled another 500 series, this time a 504. She has bowled very well raising her average from 137 in the third meet of the season to a season high of 150. She has showed a great improvement and we are very proud of her. Great Job Jennifer! Male Athlete of the Week - Ben Smith, Boys Bowling
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Ben Smith. Ben had another great week leading the boy’s bowling team. On Monday, he had a 267 game with a 446 two-game series. Tuesday on senior night, Ben shot a 582 series to lead the team. On Thursday, he shot a 259 game to help the team defeat Hinsdale Central. Ben finished off the week by placing 4th overall at the IHSA Regional tournament. His 1335 six-game series included a 290 game. Male Athlete of the Week - Will Gallagher, Boys Swimming
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Will Gallagher. Will has had a great season so far as a freshman; he has been in the top 6 in every event he’s swam at each invitational. This week, Will dominated the distance free events, winning the 200 Free and 500 Free against Conference rival Downers Grove South. Will came back on Saturday and placed 2nd in the 200 Free and 4th in the 200 Fly at the College Events Invite. Top teams from all over the state compete in this meet, so he has certainly turned heads as a freshman. Great Job Will! Congratulations on a great week!

Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Abbey Leban. Abbey helped the Hornets win 3 matches this past week along with a 3rd Place finish at the West Aurora Blackhawk Invitational. Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Kennedi Perkins. This past week Kennedi led the way with 21 points in a 31-29 win over Morton. Kennedi was also the leading scorer in the other 2 games during the week. She scored 26 points against Minooka on Saturday and 9 points against Proviso East on Tuesday. Great Job Kennedi! Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Matt Krauz. Matt had a great week and a successful meet against Oswego East. Matt had a consistent drop in the 200 IM and came back to swim a lifetime best in the 100 Free. Matt was a key player in both the 200 and 400 Free Relays. Female Athlete of the Week - Jaultiana Brown, Girls Bowling
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Jaultiana Brown. Jaultiana was the lead bowler against Fenton. Jaultiana scored a high game of 178 and shot a 472 for a 3 game series. She beat out 11 other bowlers to be the champion of the match. Jaultiana is currently averaging 160 three weeks into the season. Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Billy Durkin. Billy averaged 18 points per game leading his team to a 1-1 record on the week. Billy’s hard work and improvement paid off and saw him score in many different ways when teams were taking away his excellent 3 point shooting ability. Billy shot 66% on the week and had 10 rebounds. Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Sara Cleghorn. On Saturday, November 24th, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in the 22 team Plainfield Central Wildcat Invite. This is an excellent tournament with some of the best teams in Illinois. The Hornets were paced by Senior Sara Cleghorn with a strong 1127 series which earned her a medal finishing 13th individually and she bowled her high game of 248. Great Job Sara! Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Zach Medlin. Zach has started the season off strong. He not only has been near the top in scores, but also has been a leader and role model for the other bowlers on the team. Zach leads the team in spare percentage because of his attention to detail. Female Athlete of the Week - 200 Free Relay Team
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Bryn Larson, Lexi Smith, Lily Yurkovich and Caroline Collins These four young ladies (2 freshmen and 2 sophomores) broke the Sophomore 200 Free Relay record at IHSA Sectionals this past weekend with a time of 1:42.60, bettering the record by 2 seconds. All four went season and lifetime best times in their legs of the race. The relay team finished fourth overall at the meet. Congratulations on a great meet and season!
Male Athlete of the Week - Julian Saldivar, Basketball
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Julian Saldivar. Julian was our highest scoring athlete in the Wheaton Warrenville South Basketball tournament. He scored a combined total of 27 points for the Black team. He has been improving as a basketball player each season he has participated in Special Olympics basketball. Female Athlete of the Week - Hailey Gallagher, Girls Diving
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Hailey Gallagher. Hailey came out for swimming as a sophomore and 3 weeks into the season, she decided to try diving as well. Hailey went from having 1 or 2 dives, to diving a 6-dive meet, then getting 11 dives and finishing 3rd on the Varsity level and being All-Conference. Hailey has come a long way this season, but going from “trying diving” to All-Conference in 12 weeks? That’s amazing! Great job Hailey! Congratulations on a great meet! Good luck at the IHSA Sectional!
Male Athlete of the Week - Josh Baron, Boys Cross Country
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Josh Baron. Josh was our third finisher at the IHSA Sectional Meet at Kaneland High School, running a personal best 3-mile time of 16:47 to help the Hornets secure their 5th straight State Meet appearance. He has been improving each meet this year, and is ready for a breakthrough race at State. He and his teammates will be competing at noon on Saturday at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Great job Josh! Female Athlete of the Week - Kaitlyn Hurka, Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Kaitlyn Hurka. Kaitlyn is a junior outside hitter on the girls’ varsity volleyball team. This is Kaitlyn's third year on varsity. She plays all six rotations for our team. She is not only a fantastic hitter, but adds great defense, passing, and blocking to our team. Last week Kaitlyn had 25 kills in our three matches. Each week she continues to be our kill leader for the team. Kaitlyn also made the all-tournament team at the Plainfield Central Harvest Festival tournament. She is a great athlete and great teammate. Male Athlete of the Week - Julian Watson, Boys Cross Country
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Julian Watson. Julian continued his great season by winning the individual championship at the Hinsdale South Regional on Saturday, his 2nd victory of the year. His finish led the Hornets to their 2nd straight Regional championship, and 4th in the last 5 years. The previous week he was named All-Conference, placing 12th in the Conference meet. Despite only being a sophomore, Julian has been a leader on and off the course, and is a main reason why the team has been successful this season. He will continue to lead the team through the Sectional and State meets in the upcoming weeks. Great job Julian! Congratulations on a great week!

Female Athlete of the Week - Aimee Puz & Brigid LoConte
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Aimee Puz & Brigid LoConte. Aimee & Brigid only started playing doubles together about two and a half weeks ago, but despite this, have seen some tremendous success. Their late season matches were enough to get them a four seed in the sectional, and after playing some terrific tennis, they surpassed their seed and finished third, which means a trip down state!! Great job Aimee & Brigid! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Evan Zenger, Football
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Senior Evan Zenger. Evan came up with a huge play when he intercepted Leyden's quarterback to give the Hornets great field position, which helped them take the lead. The Hornets eventually won the game and secured a place in the IHSA playoffs for the second year in a row and 4th out of the last 5 years. Great job Evan! Congratulations on a great game!

Female Athlete of the Week - Mia Lombardo. Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Mia Lombardo. Mia is a vital part of the girls’ varsity volleyball team. She truly shined in our seven matches last week. She had 34 kills and 27 solo blocks for our team this past week. Mia also led our team during the Lake Park match. She had 8 kills and 4 solo blocks. Mia is a strong right side hitter and an all-around great teammate. She deserves to be recognized for her hard work and contributions to the girls’ varsity volleyball team. Great Job Mia! Male Athlete of the Week - Terrill McCray III, Football
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Terrill McCray III. Terrill, who is one of the captions on the team, accounted for 3 touchdowns in a 35-28 victory over Addison Trail. He opened the scoring with a 40 yard run on the first play of the game! He also had TD catches of 27 & 37 yards. Terrill is also a 2-way player for the Hornets and had a key interception on Defense. Female Athlete of the Week - Dan Euske, Girls Golf
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Dana Euske. In the last week Dana has been the low scorer for the Varsity Hornets in all three dual meets and at our Tournament. She tied for the low score of 46 against Hinsdale Central, she tied for the low score of 48 against York, and she tied for the low score of 40 against Plainfield Central. Dana was the low scorer for the Hornets in the OPRF Invite, shooting 47. During this season, Dana has been a top four scorer in every meet and tournament that we have competed in. Great Job Dana! Male Athlete of the Week - Tim Rudolph, Boys Cross Country
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Tim Rudolph. After a solid 33rd place finish in the 20-team Sterling Invitational with a 3-mile time of 16:57, Tim won first place in our dual meet against Addison Trail on Monday, closing with a 5:21 last mile to overtake the competition, leading the Hornets to a convincing victory. Female Athlete of the Week - Patrice Trzupek, Cross Country
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Patrice Trzupek! On Monday, September 10th during the dual vs. Leyden Patrice was the individual race champion! On Saturday, September 15th the Girls run on the State meet course and Patrice ran 19:10, which is only 6 seconds off her best Detweiller Park time! Great Job Patrice! Male Athlete of the Week - Eddy Hyland, Football
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Eddy Hyland. On Friday, September 14th Hinsdale South defeated Downers Grove South 40-17 to keep the rebel canon. Eddy had a 101 yard interception return for touchdown setting a school record. Great job Eddy! Congratulations on a great game!

Female Athlete of the Week - Taylor Johnson, Girls Tennis
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week Taylor Johnson. Taylor went 3-1 in match play this week. Her and partner Sydney Puz got some stellar wins against Addison Trail and Leyden early in the week to help the team toward some conference victories. Her and partner Brigid LoConte also got a great win at the first doubles position against Fenwick this weekend. Her only loss of the week was against a tough doubles team from Naperville North, where her and partner Aimee Puz fell 2-6, 6-7(3). It was a great week for Tay!. Great Job Tay! Male Athlete of the Week - Frankie Klemm, Boys Golf
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Frankie Klemm. The Varsity Boys golf team had a great week. On Tuesday, September 4th they beat Addison Trail 170-197 and Frankie shot a 43. On Saturday, September 8th the Hornets participated in the Providence Invite at the Sanctuary golf course in New Lennox. In a very big and talented field, the Hornets finished 14th out of 27 teams, Frankie shot an 85. Great job Frankie! Congratulations on a great week!

Female Athlete of the Week - Brigid LoConte, Girls Tennis
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Brigid LoConte. Brigid had a great tournament this weekend in Edwardsville, where she went 3-1 in singles. She had a tough loss to Edwardsville (2-6, 4-6), but prevailed in her matches versus Glenwood, Maine South, and New Trier. Brigid will primarily hold down the second singles position this season, but has also found some great success at our first and second doubles positions as well. Great Job Brigid! Male Athlete of the Week - Marquese Garrett, Football
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Marquese Garrett. Quarterback Marquese Garrett led the Hornets to a 27-7 victory over Lyons Township on Friday, August 31st. He accounted for 3 touchdowns. 2 of them running and 1 passing. He had 180 rushing and 64 passing yards on the night. Great job Marquese! Congratulations on a great game!

Female Athlete of the Week - Alissa Banks, Girls Golf
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Alissa Banks. Alissa and her partner Dana Euske had the low team score of 92 at the Joliet Invite. On Wednesday, Alissa lead the Hornets to a conference victory over Willowbrook 219 to 230, achieving medalist honors with a score of 49. Great Job Alissa! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Julian Watson, Boys Cross Country
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Julian Watson. In last week’s debut against Downers South and Naperville Central, Julian also was our top finisher despite this being his first ever cross country race, as he was not on the team as a freshman. On Tuesday, Julian was our 1st finisher, 3rd place overall, in our meet with Proviso East and Willowbrook. He ran the 2 mile course in 10:45, the 4th fastest Hornet time in the 5-year history of our “short course.” Great job Julian! Congratulations on a great week!

Female Athlete of the Week - Aimee Puz, Girls Tennis
Congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Aimee Puz. Aimee went 3-1 in matches in the first singles draw at the Centennial Invitational this weekend, which was good for a 5th place finish. As a past all-state doubles player, Aimee will be transitioning to the singles court this year, and has found some great early season success with some tough wins over Belleville East and Belleville West. As captain she has done a superb job setting the tone for the team, and is putting in some solid work to make this season her most memorable yet. Great Job Aimee! Congratulations on a great week!
Male Athlete of the Week - Colin Lyster, Boys Golf
Congratulations to our Athlete of the Week, Colin Lyster. Colin was the medalist for 3 straight matches this week. On Wednesday, Colin shot a 37 vs. Morton helping the team win 157 to 184. On Thursday, he had a 40 vs. Lyons Township. On Saturday, he finished the week with an 81 during an 18 hole dual vs Oswego East. His score helped the Hornets win 339 to 343. Great job Colin!
