On Tuesday, the Hornets bowled in the John Ryan West Suburban Conference Headpin Tournament. The 6 game format really took its toll on the Hornets bowlers as they started slowly in games 1-3 but were able to really improve in games 4-6. The Lady Hornets were led by Senior Abbey Leban with a strong 1027 series. Senior Jennifer Cleghorn added a 941 series and Sophomore Ashley Leban chipped in a nice 884 series. The Varsity Hornets finished the conference tournament in 7th place.
On Saturday, the Hornets participated in the New Trier Trevian State Invitational. New Trier stepped up to host this tournament because of the cancellation of the state series for IHSA winter sports. The Hornet Bowlers started with two solid games, but struggled mightily in games 3, 4 and 5. The Hornets were able to finish the season with a strong game 6 and completed a solid overall showing. The team was led by Senior Jennifer Cleghorn with a 1022 series, senior Abbey Leban with a 1004 series and Junior Dana Euske with a 983 series. The Hornets finished the season with a 6th place finish in their Tournament sectional and 37th place out of 78 teams overall.
Week of March 1st
On Tuesday, the Hornets hosted Downers Grove North in a West Suburban Conference match. The Hornets celebrated Senior Night, recognizing the 7 seniors on the team. Seniors honored were Jennifer Cleghorn, Abbey Leban, Catherine Fatigato, Maiya Stephenson, Stephani Ogbuehi, Eva Neupaurova and Natalie Krueger. The Hornets bowled well in games 1 and 2 but had a great game 3 and defeated DGN 2861-2601. The Lady Hornets were led by Senior Abbey Leban with a strong 548 series, with Junior Dana Euske chipping in a nice 508 series. The JV team bowled well, and also defeated DGN 2065-1693. The JV team was led by Senior Eva Neupaurova who bowled a 393 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 3-4 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 3-4 on the season.
On Thursday, the Hornets visited rival Willowbrook in a West Suburban Conference match. The Varsity Lady Hornets struggled in game 2 and were not able to overcome the deficit and fell to Willowbrook 2761-2828. Senior Abbey Leban led the Varsity Lady Hornets with a strong 561 series, Senior Maiya Stephenson chipped in with 482 series. The JV Lady Hornets also bowled well but fell to Willowbrook in a close match 2126-2208. Senior Stephani Ogbuehi led the JV Lady Hornets with a 449 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 3-5 overall and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 3-5 overall.
Week of February 22nd On Thursday, the Hornets visited rival Leyden in a West Suburban Conference match. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled consistently for all three games but lost to the Eagles 2945-3152. Senior Jennifer Cleghorn led the Varsity Lady Hornets with a season high 615 series and Senior Maiya Stephenson chipped in with her season high series of 515. The JV Lady Hornets also bowled well but fell to Leyden 2021-2324. Senior Stephani Ogbuehi led the JV Lady Hornets with a 384 series and Junior Elizabeth Vandercar chipped in with a 355 series. The varsity Lady Hornets dropped to 2-4 overall and the JV Lady Hornets also fell to 2-4 overall.
Week of February 15th
On Tuesday, the Hornets hosted York in a West Suburban Conference match. The Hornets bowled well in games 1 and 2 but struggled in game 3 falling to the Dukes 2760-3275. The Lady Hornets were led by Senior Jennifer Cleghorn with a strong 564 series. The JV team bowled well, but lost to the Dukes 2027-2461. The JV team was led by Senior Natalie Krueger, who bowled a nice 413 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 1-3 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 1-3 on the season.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted rival Addison Trail in a West Suburban Conference match. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled consistently for all three games and defeated the Blazers 2715-2392. Senior Abbey Leban led the Varsity Lady Hornets with a 488 series, Senior Jennifer Cleghorn and Junior Dana Euske chipped in with 466 series. The JV Lady Hornets also bowled well earning a victory against Addison Trail 2089-0. Senior Stephani Ogbuehi led the JV Lady Hornets with a 417 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 2-3 overall and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 2-3 overall.
Week of February 8th
On Monday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a conference foe the Morton Mustangs. The match saw the Hornets start slow, have a strong second game and struggle in the final game falling to the Mustangs losing by a score of 2747-2757. Senior Abbey Leban led the Hornets with a nice 583 series.. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a good 1st game but struggled in games 2 and 3 and were defeated by the Mustangs 2005-2278. Senior Natalie Krueger led the JV Lady Hornets with a 392 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in West Suburban Conference.
On Tuesday, the Hornets visited Downers Grove South in a West Suburban Conference match. The Hornets improved each game but lost to the Mustangs 2729-3105. The Lady Hornets were led by Senior Jennifer Cleghorn with a strong 556 series. The JV team bowled well, but lost a close match to the Mustangs 2044-2129. The JV team was led by Senior Maiya Stephenson, who bowled a nice 416 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 0-2 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 0-2 on the season.
On Thursday, the Hornets visited district rival Hinsdale Central in a West Suburban Conference match. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled one of their best matches of the year and defeated the Red Devils 2992-2426. Senior Abbey Leban led the Varsity Lady Hornets with a personal best series of 658 with a career high game of 259. The JV Lady Hornets also bowled well earning a victory against Hinsdale Central 1991-1971. Senior Maiya Stephenson led the JV Lady Hornets with a 445 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in West Suburban Conference.
