Week of April 29th On Monday evening, the Varsity Team finished their season with a loss to Hinsdale Central in the Sectional Championship. Thanks to our Senior leadership, the team has become a year stronger and experienced. Thank You seniors for all you have done. We will miss you and wish you the best in all of your future endeavors. Thank You to our underclassmen for a wonderful season, we look forward to having you all back next year to continue growing and help produce a stronger program.
Week of April 22nd The Girls Water Polo Team defeated Bremman High School on Monday evening which included our senior recognition as we bid farewell to Maggie Dunford, Katie Nigohosian, Devan Rospert and Lily Bone. The girls brought lots of experience as roll models and demonstrated excellent leadership skills to the underclassmen.
On Thursday, the girls lost to Hoffmen Estates by the score of 9-6. This concluded our regular season play. The team is gearing up for the conference tournament next week followed by the sectional playoffs. Good Luck Hornets!
The Girls JV Water Polo Team finished their season on Friday evening with a conference playoff loss to Hinsdale Central. On Saturday morning, the Varsity team lost in the conference playoff to York. Both squads played well and gave 100%.
Week of April 15th This past week brought lots of excitement for Girls Water Polo. On Monday evening, both levels lost to York High School but played tough until the very end. The J.V. team brought the score to 6-5 loss with a missed shot in the last seconds of play.
On Tuesday, the Hornets hosted Morton. The Varsity team, led by Lilly Browder, Devan Rospert , Katie Nigohosian and Lily Bone. Lost to the Mustangs with a close score of 9-6. The J.V. team, however, defeated the Mustangs 8-2.
Wednesday continued the week with more excitement as the Hornets traveled to compete against the Argonauts. The Varsity team played strong and with a missed shot with 3 seconds left, lost to Argo 7-6. Leading scorers were Lilly Browder, Caroline Collins and DevanRospert. The J.V. defeated the Argonauts 11-7 with top scorers being Caroline Collins, Katie Allen, Jordan Rospert and Aava Farekhian. Filling in on goal and doing an outstanding job; Katherine Carter, Madelin Chimel, Alana Plzak and Aava Farekhian. Most of our girls play on the Varsity level and with roughly 10 minutes rest between games, come back to compete in the J.V. game. The girls play hard and always give 100% in the pool and out of the pool!
Week of April 8th The Girls Polo teams lost to Hinsdale Central on Monday evening. The girls on the Varsity level held strong to the Red Devils throughout the game and held the score to 14-10.
On Wednesday, both teams traveled to Main East as the J.V. squad defeated Main East 9-8 with a high energy effort by all the girls and the game winning goal by Caroline Collins in the final 30 seconds of game play. The Varsity team lost to Main East but continued to play hard with most of the girls playing a second game after coming out of the J.V. game.
Thursday evening the girls traveled to Aurora where they were defeated by Waubonsie Valley High School. Do to some injuries and other engagements, we went in a bit lean that night with players. Even in an 8 lane wider pool, the girls tiredly gave 100% on both levels and went home exhausted. Awesome week ladies, keep up the good work!
Week of April 1st The Girl's Varsity Water Polo team lost to OPRF on Monday evening. The girls played well coming out of Spring Break but couldn't defeat the Huskies at their pool. The J.V. team, however, defeated the Huskies 4-3 on Monday. The Hornets took an early lead and played strong on both ends of the ball. Top players included Madeline Chimel, Annabelle Dunford, Julia Banka, Madison Velasquez and Lexi Smith for there outstanding determination and enthusiasm.
On Tuesday, the Girls traveled to Chicago to play Resurrection High School. The games were scheduled later than usual but despite being exhausted, both levels came home with victories. Top scorers included Caroline Collins, Jordan Rospert, Lilly Browder, Maggie Dunford, Katie Allen and Devan Rospert. Top defensive players included Katie Nigohsian, Maddie Nelson and Katherine Carter. Playing both field and goalie were Lily Yurkovich and Amelia Brennan. Congratulations to all the girls on a job well done!
Week of March 18th The Girls Polo Team lost to Saint Charles East on Monday evening. This was a one level game so it was a nice challenge for our younger players to experience play at the Varsity level. The girls did a nice job and all worked together as a team.
On Wednesday, The Varsity team lost to Riverside Brookfield at Hinsdale South. Top performances included Lilly Browder, Katie Nigohosian, Maggie Dunford, Devon Rospert and Lily Bone for there stellar game play on both offense and defense throughout the game. The JV girls defeated Riverside Brookfield by the score of 7-6. Top performances on both offense and defense included: Katherine Carter, Annabelle Dunford, Caroline Collins, Katie Allen, Madeline Nelson and an amazing job in the goal by Lily Yurkovich. Congratulations to all of the girls on there hard work and determination.
Week of March 11th The Girls Polo Teams continue working hard and playing hard, which brings more experience and determination to the program as the season goes on. This shows with our new faces this year which includes: Madeline Chimel, Annabelle Dunford, Remi Michaud, Julia Banka, Madison Velasquez, Alana Plzak, Lexi Smith and Lily Yurkovich.
On Monday the Varsity team defeated Andrew 11-10. This was a strong team effort exhibited by the girls. On Tuesday, however, the girls were defeated by Richards following a defeat Thursday to Lincoln Way West.
The JV Girls Polo team lost to Andrew on Monday but had there first win with Richards on Tuesday evening with the score of 8-7. Top players included Katherine Carter, Caroline Collins, Amelia Brennan, Katie Allen, Madeline Nelson and Lily Yurkovich.
The girls participated in a Morton West Tournament on Saturday placing Fourth. Lilly Browder was voted All Tournament by the other teams coaches. The Girls continue playing hard and are always enthusiastic as they look forward to their next games.
Week of March 4th The Girls Water Polo Team is back in the water for their 2018-2019 season. The team will be led this season by the returning seniors who have thus far demonstrated outstanding leadership and support for the underclassman. This years returning seniors include Katie Nigohosian, Maggie Dunford, Devan Rospert and Lily Bone.
The girls began their season with three games last week which included losses to Matea Valley (16-9) on Monday evening, Lyons Township (21-5) on Thursday and a very close and exciting loss to Stagg (11-10) on Friday. The girls played hard all week and with our lower numbers, many were asked to play both Varsity and Junior Varsity games all week. Leading scorers for the week were Devan Rospert, Lilly Browder and Caroline Collins. Top defensive players include Maggie Dunford, Katie Nigohosian, Kaitie Allen, Katherine Carter, and returning goalie Amelia Brennan. It is also very exciting to see the tremendous improvement on both offense and defense as the girls continue to work hard and encourage each other to improve daily as a team.
After a tiring week, the girls participated in a tournament at Northside College Prep High School all day Saturday. The team finished fifth out of five teams but continued to give every game 100% until the very end. The J.V. team has a lot of friendly faces this season and are coming along nicely. They began their season with losses to the teams listed above but the girls are working hard and demonstrate a positive future.
