Sophomore 5/13/19 Leyden - L 0 - 20 The Hornets struggled in game 1 against Leyden. Lucas Kozak pitched the last 2 innings and had a double on offense. Jacob Jones added a double and Leo McCllelan had a single.
5/14/19 Leyden - L 1 - 11 Leo McClellan started the game on the mound and threw well enough to get the win but poor defense yet again cost the Hornets a few runs. Offensively Lucas Kozac had a single and Josh Lindstrom added 2 hits and scored a run.
5/16/19 Leyden - L 3 - 5 Jack Nick threw 6 innings of 2 run baseball. The Hornets tied the game at 3 in the 5th inning but allowed 2 runs in the seventh inning. Offensively Parker Bozzi had a double, Jacob Jones had a single, Glen Hogan had a single and Max Nicholas had 2 hits including a double.
5/18/19 Glenbard West - W 6 - 1 The Hornets managed to win the last game of the year behind a strong pitching performance from Parker Bozzi. Parker through yet another complete gaming allowing only 1 run. The Hornet bats came alive during this game scoring 6 runs. Jacob Jones had a big 2 run double late in the game. Leo McClellan had a unique game, playing 8 of the 9 positions in 7 innings.

Sophomore 5/6/19 Downers Grove South - L 2 - 3 Parker Bozzi threw a complete game allowing 0 earned runs but poor defense cost the Hornets 3 runs early in the game. Jacob Jones scored Cam Crotty and Parker Bozzi in the 1st inning with a big 2 run double. The Hornets had scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the game but failed to drive home more runs.
5/11/19 Downers Grove South - L 0 - 10 Max Nicholas started the game but was chased early by some quality at bats from the Mustangs. Jack Nick came in to relieve Max and tossed 3 strong innings. Leo McCllelan closed things out for the Hornets on the mound. Offensively the Hornets struggled against a strong right handed pitcher from the Mustangs. Cam Crotty added the Hornets only hit on a line shot off of the pitchers hip.
5/11/19 Downers Grove South - W 3 - 1 Parker Bozzi yet again dazzled on the mound with a strong 7 inning complete game. Parker allowed 1 run on 4 hits through 7 innings. Offensively the Hornets scored early on a big hit from Jacob Jones. In the 5th inning Parker scored Cam Crotty on a triple to right field. Parker scored on the play from a throwing error to help put the Hornets up 2. Thanks to quality defense from Leo McCllelan and Chris Prosek, Parker slammed the door shut secruing the victory. Sophomore 5/3/19 Morton - L 1 - 3 Jack Nick got the start on the mound and threw extremely well in the final game against Morton High school. Jack threw 6 innings with 0 earned runs but poor defense plagued the Hornets in a tightly contested game. Offensively, Glen Hogan added a big double and was followed up by a nice line drive base hit from Lucas Kozak.
5/4/19 York - L 3 - 6 Max Nicholas started the game on Saturday morning and threw 5 innings allowing 4 runs. Max held the Dukes to 1 run through 4 innings before allowing a few hits to sneak through. Phil Choisser and Chris Prosek both added hits. Cam Crotty was walked and also stole 2 bases late in the game. Freshman
Week of April 22nd
Varsity The Hornets started the week off by hosting conference foe Addison Trail on Monday in Darien. Frankie Klemm was on the mound and pitched all five innings of the rained shortened win by allowing just 1 earned run on 1 hit. Klemm struck out 4 and walked 3. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka 1-3 with a run scored, Frankie Klemm 1-2 with a run scored and a walk, Jake Klepacz 1-3 with an RBI double and Drew Duckhorn 1-2 with an RBI.
On Tuesday the Hornets continued the winning ways in Addison by scoring 10 runs on 6 hits. Mike McCormack got the win as he pitched 5 innings allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 6. Cole Bozzi threw the last 2 innings of relief allowing 0 earned runs, 0 hits and striking out 3. The Hornets had hits from: James Ruzicka, Frankie Klemm (2b), Drew Duckhorn (2b), Mike McCormack, Ryan Kilrea, and Donny Laudermilk. The Hornets are now 8-9 on the season and 3-4 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Thursday the Hornets completed the sweep of Addison Trail with a come from behind 8-5 win. The Hornets were trailing 5-1 entering the home half of the 4th inning. The Hornets scored 4 in the bottom of the 4th to tie the game at 5 and then scored another 3 in the bottom of the 6th to defeat the Trailblazers by a score of 8-5. Cole Bozzi picked up the win throwing 3 scoreless innings in relief of Drew Duckhorn. Bozzi struck out 2 and allowed 2 hits. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka 2-5 with 2 runs scored, Frankie Klemm 1-4 with a double a run scored and an RBI, Jake Klepacz 2-2 with a run scored and 3 RBI’s, Drew Duckhorn 1-3 with a run scored and an RBI, CJ Drake 1-1 with a run scored and an RBI, Ryan Kilrea 3-3 with a run scored and an 2 RBI’s, and Tristain Schauer 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored. The Hornets are now 9-9 and 4-4 in the West Suburban Gold Conference. On Saturday the Hornets were ready to host the Red Devils in Darien BUT AFTER 1 ½ innings the game was cancelled due to snow!! Sophomore 4/22/19 @ Addison Trail - W 11 - 4 The Hornets started a new conference series with Parker Bozzi on the mound against the Addison Trail Blazers. Bozzi threw 4 strong innings holding off the strong Blazers offense. The Hornets had an offensive explosion with all players reaching base at least once. Cam Crotty was 2 for 3 and Lucas Kozak was 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs.
4/23/19 Addison Trail - W 5 - 2 Max Nicholas started game 2 against Addison Trail and threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Chris Prosek came in to close out the game in the 7th. Max also had 2 hits including a double to help spark a rally. Phil Choisser added 2 singles and scored a run. Chris Prosek and Cam Crotty had two high quality at bats late in the game to add 2 runs in the later innings. Freshman This week we swept the blazers from Addison trail (7-4, 14-7, 17-2). The boys really came alive this week with the bats with Kyle Jannanga, AJ Metzger, and Josh Sanders all having multiple two hit games. Pitching was great with performances from Lucas Duffy, Justin Hill, Nick Dunwoody, Elliot Fulscher, and Luke Casey.
Week of April 15th
Varsity The Hornets started the week off hosting Morton. After nine innings of baseball nothing had been decided as the game was tied at 2. Frankie Klemm was masterful over the first 7 innings striking out 12 and allowing just 1 earned run. Drew Duckhorn and Ricky Lepic each threw a scoreless inning of relief as the game was suspended due to darkness. On Wednesday Morton returned to Darien to complete the suspended game and wasted no time scoring 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning. The Hornets however battled back in dramatic fashion to score 3 in the bottom half as Frankie Klemm singled home Tristain Schauer with the winning run.
In game 2 on Wednesday Morton defeated the Hornets by a score of 4-1. Mike McCormack threw 5 innings allowing only 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 8. The Hornets had hits from Jake Klepacz, James Ruzicka, and Mike McCormack. The Hornets are now 6-8 on the season and 1-4 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Oak Park to take on the Huskies. The Hornets were in great shape leading by a score of 2-1 going into the bottom of the 6th when the Huskies exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the 6th. Drew Duckhorn was masterful on the mound as he pitched 5 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 1 hit. The Hornets had a hit from James Ruzicka, CJ Drake, Mike McCormack and Jake Klepacz. The Hornets are now 6-9 overall on the season.
Sophomore 4/16/19 Morton - L 1 - 2 After almost a whole week off from game action, the Hornets started the second conference series with a trip to Morton high school. Parker Bozzi got the start yet again and threw another high quality game. Parker threw 6 ⅔ innings allowing 1 unearned run. Offensively the Hornets were paced by Max Nicholas who went 2 for 4. Lucas Kozak also added a triple and an RBI.
4/17/19 Morton - W 7 - 5 The second game in the series was started by Max Nicholas. Max threw 5 innings strong only allowing 2 runs. Max also led off the game with a double, eventually coming around to score after a steal and a wild pitch. In the second inning Glen Hogan connected on a ball to dead center and was able to make a round trip for the Hornets first Home Run of the season. Chris Prosek had a huge day at the plate going 3 for 3 with a single, double, and a triple. Liam Camden also had a single in the seventh and eventually came around for an insurance run.
4/20/19 Vs. Oak Park River Forest - L 1 - 16 Leo McClellan got the start on the mound against Oak Park River Forest at home. Leo threw well through 3 innings but bad weather and poor defense cost the Hornets some runs. Jacob Jones followed up Leo with his first appearance on the mound for the year. Offensively the Hornets were paced by 1 for 1 performances from Liam Camden, Derek Potts, and Glen Hogan who added a double. Freshman This week we were 1-2, splitting games with the mustangs of Morton (5-8, 10-3). There were some great defensive performances from Drew Deolitsis, and Lucas Duffy in the outfield. Justin Hill, Elliot Fulscher, and Luke Casey in the infield. Pitching was also a shining spot in out 10-3 win from Mikey Urbanski. AJ Metzger, Justin Hill, and Lucas Duffy all had big hits in our win. OPRF unfortunately had our number and beat us up (0-13).
Week of April 8th
Varsity The Hornets started the week off hosting Proviso West. Nick Zelenik got the start and picked up his second win of the season going all 7 innings, allowing 0 runs on 3 hits. The Hornets were led offensively by Ryan Kilrea 3-3, Drew Duckhorn 2-3, and Jake Klepacz 2-4. James Ruzicka, Michael Colant, and Tristan Schauer each added a hit to the 6 run attack. Final Score: HS 6, PW 0. The Hornets are now 5-6 on the season.
On Tuesday the Hornets hosted Naperville North High School. Frankie Klemm was the starting pitcher and had another wonderful start. Frank struck out 7, gave up 3 unearned runs, and allowed 6 hits in 6 innings of work. The Hornets never got on the board and were shutout 5-0 by Naperville North. The Hornets had just two hits on the day. One from Jake Klepacz and one from Ryan Kilrea. The Hornets are 5-7 on the season and take on Morton in Cicero on Monday.
Sophomore 4/9/19 Naperville North - L 0 - 10 The Hornets traveled south to Naperville North for a midweek game. Parker Bozzi got the start and competed well for 4 innings. Jacob Jones went 1 for 3 with a single early in the game. Chris Prosek also added a single.
Freshman This week we were 1-1 with a win against Proviso West and coming up short against Naperville North. It was a total team performance vs. Proviso West. The hornets were up early with good pitching from Mikey Urbanski and Ryan Kohlsaat. The Panthers battled back before Drew Deolitsis, AJ Metzger, and Ryan Kohlsaat put three hits back-to-back-to-back to finish off the panthers. Great defensive battle with Naperville North with some good pitching by Justin Hill and Lucas Duffy. Down 1-2 in the 5th inning the Huskies put together a rally to seal the deal and get the win.
Week of April 1st
Varsity The Hornets started the week off hosting Willowbrook in the conference opener. It was another pitcher’s duel with the Hornets Frankie Klemm facing off against Willowbrooks Ryan Mintz. The Hornets came up a little short (2-0) despite another excellent performance by Klemm. Klemm struck out 9, allowed just 3 hits, and two runs over 7 innings of work. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka who went 3-4 on the day. Jake Klepacz, CJ Drake, Drew Duckhorn, Mike McCormack, and Tristan Schauer all had a hit. The Hornets are now 4-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.
On Tuesday the Hornets traveled to Villa Park to take on Willowbrook in game 2 of the series. Cole Bozzi got the start and allowed 4 runs in 2 innings of work. The Hornets battled back and tied the game at 5 in the top of the 4th inning only to give up 3 in the bottom of the 4th. The Hornets lost game two by a score of 8-5. The Hornets were led offensively by Drew Duckhorn 2-4 and Donny Lowdermilk 2-4. The Hornets are now 4-4 on the season and 0-2 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Thursday the Hornets hosted Willowbrook for the final game of the three game series. The Hornets fell behind early and were never able to overcome the early deficit. Drew Duckhorn picked up the loss and the Hornets were led offensively by Jake Klepacz 2-3. James Ruzicka, Frankie Klemm, Donny Lowdermilk, Ryan Kilrea, and Tristan Schauer all had a hit in the 15-3 defeat. The Hornets are now 4-5 on the season and 0-3 in the West Suburban Gold Conference.
On Saturday the Hornets traveled to Downers Grove to take on Downers Grove North. The Hornets scored 4 in the top of the second only to give up 6 in the bottom of the 2nd. Owen Dellamaria picked up the loss and the Hornets were led offensively by Ryan Kilrea who went 3-3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s on the day. Drew Duckhorn and Jake Klepacz each had two hits including a double. The final score: DGN 13 - HS 8. The Hornets are 4-6 on the season.
Sophomore 4/1/19 Willobrook - L 5 - 15 Conference play started with a trip to Willowbrook High School. Jack Nick started the game and did a nice job of getting ahead of hitters early in counts. The Hornets were plagued defensively by soft hits and rough hops. Glen hogan went 1 for 1 with a single and a walk. Parker Bozzi also reached base twice with a double and a walk.
4/2/19 Willobrook - L 2 - 10 Parker Bozzi started game 2 at Willowbrook and through well keeping the game within 1 run into the 6th inning. Chris Prosek reached base 3 times with 3 walks and stole a base, leading to the Hornets first run. Leo McClellan also had a big single late in the game to score Chris Prosek. Derek Potts had a single in the 6th to score Leo as well.
4/6/19 Downers Grove North - L 8 - 10 The game against Downers Grove North was a closely played high scoring game. Max Nicholas started on the mound and kept the game close, throwing 3 innings. Cam Crotty reached base 2 times with 2 walks and a run scored. Jacob Jones and Parker Bozzi added doubles on a day with the wind blowing straight in. Liam Camden also added an RBI single late in the game.
Week of March 25th
Varsity The Hornets started the week off right by beating Glenbard South by a score of 14-4. Frankie Klemm picked up the win allowing 2 earned runs in 4 innings of work. Klemm struck out 3 and allowed 3 hits on his way to his first win and the team’s first win of the season. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka who went 1-2 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Drew Duckhorn who went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Mike McCormack went 2-3 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Nick Zelenik, Ryan Kilrea, and Tristan Schauer all added a hits to the 14 run attack.
On Wednesday the Hornets traveled to Palos Heights to take on Shepard High School. The Hornets jumped out to an early lead when Jake Klepacz hit a two run homer in the first inning. Owen Dellamaria threw a scoreless first but ran into some trouble in the second inning. The Hornets entered the top of the 4th trailing 5-2. The Hornets scored six in the top of the 4th to take an 8-5 lead. Nick Zelenik, Tristan Schauer, James Ruzicka, Frankie Klemm, Jake Klepacz, and Donny Lowdermilk all scored runs in the 4th. The big hit of the inning was a 2 run triple by Mike McCormack. Ricky Lepic threw the last 3 innings in relief; allowing 1 run to pick up his first varsity win. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka who went 3-5 with two runs scored. Franke Klemm, Mike McCormack, Ryan Kilrea, Nick Zelenik, and Tristan Scahuer all added two hits. Drew Duckhorn had a hit and two walks. Jake Klepacz had a home run, a walk and 3 RBI’s. Donny Lowdermilk had a hit and 2 RBI’s. The Hornets are now 2-2 on the season.
On Thursday the Hornets hosted Riverside Brookfield in a double header. Game 1 starting pitcher Drew Duckhorn allowed 1 earned run in 4 innings. The Hornets trailed 2-0 entering the 5th inning when they exploded for 3 runs highlighted by James Ruzicka’s 2 run single to left. Ruzicka later scored the go ahead run on Jake Klepacz’s single. The Hornets later added some insurance on James Ruzicka’s 2 run single in the 6th. Jared Herchenbach picked up the win in relief pitching 3 scoreless innings. The Hornets are now 3-2 overall.
Game 2 was started by Mike McCormack. McCormack went 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits. McCormack was relieved by Zach Rynkar who pitched 3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The Hornets trailing 5-2 entering the 6th inning scored two runs in the 6th to make the score 5-4 and scored two more in the bottom of the 7th for a dramatic come from behind walk off winner. James Ruzicka got the walk of single plating Tristan Schauer who had previously doubled in Ryan Kilrea with the tying run. Kilrea had started the inning off with a double to left. Nick Zelenik picked up the win by throwing a scoreless top of the 7th. The Hornets were led offensively by James Ruzicka (3 hits), Frankie Klemm (2 hits), Nick Zelenik (2 hits), and Tristan Schauer (2 hits). The Hornets take both games of the double header from Riverside Brookfield moving their record to 4-2 on the season.
Sophomore 3/26/29 - Glenbard South (1) - L 0 - 10 The Hornets started out the season on the road against Glenbard South. Max Nicholas got the opening day start and was followed up by Leo McClellan. Offensively the Hornets were led by Glen Hogan who went 1 for 1 with a walk and Max Nicholas who went 1 for 2 with a walk as well. 3/26/29 - Glenbard South (2) - W 12 - 3 The Hornets looked to bounce back in game two of the doubleheader behind a strong start from Jack Nick on the mound. Parker Bozzi went 3 for 4 with a big triple and a few RBIs. Max Nicholas went 2 for 2 with 2 walks and Jack Nick had 4 walks. Cam Crotty also bounced back and went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs.
3/27/29 - Lemont (1) - L 2 - 6 Parker Bozzi started the Hornets home opener against Lemont on March 27th. Parker had a strong showing, throwing a complete game, but defensive miscues cost the Hornets some runs early in the game. The Hornets offense was paced by a strong game from Leo McClellan who went 1 for 2 with a run scored. Derek Potts also reached base and scored a run for the Hornets.
3/27/29 - Lemont (2) - L 2- 6 Max Nicholas started the second game for the Hornets. Max had a much better start in this game throwing 3 innings and allowing 1 earned run. Chris Prosek went 1 for 2 with an RBI single to start out the 1st for the home team, and then was followed up by Cam Crotty who was 1 for 3 with a run scored. Josh Lindstrom also went 1 for 2 with a single.
3/28/29 - Reavis - W 5 - 2 The Hornets finished up spring break with a trip to Reavis high school. Leo McClellan started and through a complete game gem. The Hornets had a strong offensive showing scoring runs in bunches early in the game. Phil Choisser went 1 for 3 with a double and RBi. Max Nicholas also went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 RBIs.
Week of March 18th
Varsity The Hornets had an entire week off between the opener and game 2 due to inclement weather. The Hornets took on Lincoln Way Central at home and were defeated by a score of 11-1. The Hornets were led in hitting by Drew Duckhorn who went 2-2 with a single a double and the lone Hornet RBI. Mike McCormack picked up the loss on the mound and the Hornets are now 0-2 on the young season.
Week of March 11th
Varsity The Hornets opened the season in the beautiful Route 66 Stadium in Joliet taking on Bolingbrook High School. It was the season opener for both teams but the pitching was in mid-season from for both teams. Frankie Klemm allowed 2 hits and 3 runs over 5 innings and Drew Duckhorn threw 1 scoreless inning in relief. The Hornets only run scored was by CJ Drake in the top of the 7th. Drake opened the inning off with a sharp single and the Hornets mounted a threat by loading the bases only to come up a little short. Final Score Bolingbrook 3, Hinsdale South 1.
