Week of February 17th On Friday February 21st, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA State Bowling tournament hosted at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford. The Hornets bowled well in the morning and ultimately were able to move from 24th place into 18th place. They finished with 5136 total pins and finished 18th in state. While the team wasn’t able to advance to the second day of the state tournament, Senior Jaultiana Brown was able to qualify as an individual for day 2. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a 1133 series on Friday and followed that up with a 1049 on Saturday. Junior Abbey Leban added a 1103 series, her high of the season, and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn chipped in with a 1030 series. Senior Jaultiana Brown finished the year in 66th place in the state!
Week of February 10th On Saturday February 15th, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA Sectional tournament hosted by the Hornets at Bowlero Bowl. The Hornets started strong and bowled well all day. They set their season high game at 1025 in game 2. They finished with a strong 5286 total pins and finished 4th at the sectional. This effort qualified the team to advance to the State Tournament for the first time since 2013. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a 1186 series and finished 2nd overall individually. Junior Catherine Fatigato shot a 1075 series and Junior Abbey Leban added a 1037 series.
Week of February 3rd On Monday, the Varsity Lady Hornet bowlers competed in the West Suburban Conference John Ryan tournament. The Hornets bowled a 4904 series and finished in 6th place. The team started off strong with a first series of 2476 but struggled with a 2428 second series, which moved them from 5th to 6th place. Senior Jaultiana Brown, with a 1106 series, led the Hornets and finished in 9th place in the Invite. Seniors Kyla Gray, Izabela Dimevska, Zofia Oles and Kennedy Hagen were recognized as Academic All Conference bowlers and Senior Jaultiana Brown and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn were recognized as All Conference bowlers.
On Saturday, the Hornets bowlers participated in the IHSA Regional tournament hosted by Hinsdale Central at Suburbanite Bowl. The Hornets started strong and bowled consistently all day. They finished with a strong 5166 total pins and finished 2nd at the Regional. This effort qualified the team to advance to the Sectional Tournament. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a 1158 series and finished 2nd overall individually. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn shot a 1102 series finishing 4th in the regional.
Week of January 27th On Monday the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted Bolingbrook for a non-conference dual match. The varsity bowlers were able to defeat Bolingbrook by a score of 2642-1878 in 3 solid games. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn led the team with a 554 series, Senior Jaultiana Brown had a 542 series, Junior Catherine Fatigato had a 538 series and Junior Abbey Leban added a 530 series. The JV Lady Hornets were able to defeat Argo by a score of 2169-1622. Junior Eva Neupauerova led the JV Lady Hornets with a 398 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 8-5 overall and 3-5 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 8-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted Argo for their last dual match of the year. The varsity bowlers were able to defeat Argo by a score of 1864-1538 in 2 games. Junior Abbey Leban led the Varsity Lady Hornets with a 344 series. The JV Lady Hornets were able to defeat Argo by a score of 1548-1150. Freshman Ashley Leban led the JV Lady Hornets with a 300 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 9-5 overall and 3-5 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 9-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in West Suburban Conference. On Thursday, the Hornets bowlers participated in the Quigley JV 2 tournament. 5 members of the Hornet Bowling team who had not competed in a tournament were selected to bowl. They were Junior Natalie Krueger (105), Sophomores Elizabeth Vandercar (105), Madison Velasquez (98) and Freshmen Pauline Lyon (108) and Reese Sesemann (95). Girls were given a trophy with their high score (listed above).
On Saturday, the Varsity Lady Hornet bowlers competed in the 20 team Leyden Invite. The Hornets got off to a strong start but really heated up in the afternoon. The Lady Hornets finished 2nd in the field and they were led by Senior Jaultiana Brown with a 1216 series. This earned Jaultiana the individual championship of the invite. Jaultiana was followed by Junior Abbey Leban with a 1054 series and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn with a 1048 series. Each girl was given a trophy for any game 200+. They were Jaultiana Brown 255, 212, 206, Abbey Leban 214, and Kennedy Hagen 202.
Week of January 20th Monday, on Martin Luther King Day, the JV participated in the Joliet West Freshmen/Sophomore Invite. The Hornets Bowled consistently with some very nice scores from new bowlers. The team finished in 14th place. Freshman Ashley Leban led the team with a 965 series and finished in 26th place individually. Sophomores Dana Euske also had a nice day with her season high series of 906.
On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted a conference foe the Downers Grove North Trojans. The match saw the Hornets bowl strong for 3 games and they were able to defeat the Trojans by a score of 2933-2390. Junior Catherine Fatigato and Senior Jaultiana Brown led the team with 542 series.. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a strong 2nd and defeated the Trojans 2415-1940. Junior Eva Neupauerova led the JV Lady Hornets with a 474 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in West Suburban Conference.
On Wednesday, the Hornets visited Naperville Central in a non-conference match. The Hornets Bowled three strong games and defeated Naperville Central 2565-2140. The lady Hornets were led by Senior Jaultiana Brown with a strong 535 series and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn with a 526 series. The JV team was also able to defeat Naperville North 2013-1872 with a strong second game. The JV team was led by Junior Maiya Stephenson, who bowled a nice 423 series. The Varsity Hornets moved to 7-4 on the season and the JV Hornets moved to 7-4 on the season.
On Thursday, the Hornets hosted Willowbrook in a West Suburban Conference match. This was Senior Night for the Hornets as they recognized Seniors Jaultiana Brown, Izabela Dimevska, Kyla Gray, Kennedy Hagen, Vinie Mihindou and Zofia Oles. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled one of their best match of the year but were edged out by the Warriors 2954-2951. Junior Abbey Leban led the Varsity Lady Hornets with series of 572. The JV Lady Hornets also bowled well finishing with a strong third game earning a tie with Willowbrook 2012-2012. Senior Izabela Dimevska led the JV Lady Hornets with a 383 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 7-5 overall and 3-5 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 7-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in West Suburban Conference.
Week of January 13th On Monday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, the Morton Mustangs. This conference matches saw the Hornets bowl consistently for all 3 games but were defeated by the Eagles by a score of 2766-2735. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn, with a 558 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were able to put up a strong 3rd game but were also defeated by the Mustangs 2676-2182. Senior Zofia Oles led the JV Lady Hornets with a 412 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 4-4 overall and 1-4 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets dropped to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in West Suburban Conference.
On Thursday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted conference foe, the Leyden Eagles. This match saw the Lady Hornets bowl their three best games of the year. The Leyden Eagles put up some great scores as well, but the Hornets were able to hold on for a win 2952-2920. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a 627 series and Junior Abbey Leban shot a 511 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were consistent in all three games but were defeated by the Eagles 22470-2243. Senior Izabela Dimevska led the JV Lady Hornets with a 421 series and Freshman Ashley Leban shot a 390 series. The varsity Lady Hornets improved to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in West Suburban Conference.
On Friday, the Hornets hosted the 20th annual Ed Puck/Bob Lichter Hornet 10 Pin Tournament at Bowlero. This tournament features 6 bowlers from each of the 8 teams invited, bowling 6 games in quick succession. The Lady Hornets were able to place 5th and were led by Junior Abbey Leban with a 1068 series and Senior Jaultiana Brown with a 1049 series. Abbey Leban bowled a high game of 246 and won the award for high second series with a 610 series.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity Bowlers competed in the Fenton Fred Green Classic Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled very consistently all day and were able to finish very strong in the afternoon finishing in 6th place out of 22 teams. Junior Abbey Leban continued her strong week bowling her highest series of the season, 1,148 pins in the 6 games and finished the tournament in 12th place individually. Juniors Jennifer Cleghorn and Catherine Fatigato also bowled their highest series of the season, 1,076 pins.
Week of January 6th On Tuesday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe York. This match saw the Hornets start slow but finish strong, but York ultimately defeated them by a score of 3238-2849. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn, with a strong 560 series, led the Varsity Lady Hornets. The JV Hornet bowlers were also unable to pull it out and York defeated them 2689-2121. Freshman Ashley Leban led the JV Lady Hornets with a 426 series. The varsity Lady Hornets fell to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets fell to 4-2 overall and 1-2 in the West Suburban Conference.
On Thursday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers visited conference foe, the Addison Trail Blazers. This match saw the Lady Hornets struggle out of the gate. The Addison Trail Blazer put up some good scores and defeated the Hornets 2871-2761. Sophomore Dana Euske led the Hornets with a season high 538 series and Junior Catherine Fatigato shot a 468 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were consistent in all three games and were able to defeat the Blazers 2055-1861. Senior Zofia Oles led the JV Lady Hornets with a 402 series and Junior Stephani Ogbuehi shot a 399 series. The varsity Lady Hornets dropped to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets improved to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the West Suburban Conference.
Week of December 16th On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity and JV Bowlers competed in the Oswego East Invitational. The Varsity Lady Hornets bowled very consistently all day and were able to finish in 5th place. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the Hornets with a strong 1086 series and medaling in 7th place individually. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn also had a great day bowling a 1053 series and earning the 9th place medal. The JV bowlers we also able to remain consistent and had a nice finish in 5th place. Junior Eva Neupauerova led the JV bowlers with a very nice 877 series and an11th place individual finish and Sophomore Dana Euske bowled a 872 series and finished in 12th place individually.
Week of December 9th On Monday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team visited Lemont High School for a non-conference match. The Lady Hornets bowled 3 strong games. The varsity defeated Lemont 2856-1047. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the varsity with a 584 series and Junior Abbey Leban added a 524 series. The JV team also defeated Lemont bowling a 1982 series. Junior Stephani Ogbuehi led the JV team with a 406 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 3-0. The JV Lady Hornets also moved to 3-0.
On Tuesday, the Hornets hosted conference opponent Downers Grove South High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers started slow but rebounded with their best single game of the season in game 2. The match came down to the Hornets down by 22 pins going into the final game. The team bowled a good 3rd game, but ended up falling just short losing to the Mustangs 2851-2849. Junior Jennifer Cleghorn led the varsity bowlers with a 567 series. The JV team also fell to the Mustangs 2463-2222. Senior Izabela Dimevska led the JV team with a 427 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 3-1 and 0-1 in the West Suburban Conference. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 3-1 and 0-1 in conference.
On Thursday, the Hornet Lady Bowlers hosted the Hinsdale Central High School Red Devils. This was another conference match for the team and the varsity Hornet bowlers were able to pick up their first conference win by a 2827-2602 score. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the team with a 522 series and Junior Abbey Leban added a 513 series. The JV Hornet bowlers were also able to get a win as they defeated the Red Devils 2214-1733. Senior Izabela Dimevska led the JV bowlers with a 403 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets improved to 4-1 and 1-1 in the West Suburban Conference and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 4-1 and 1-1 in West Suburban Conference.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady Varsity Bowlers completed in the Plainfield North Strikefest. This is the largest and most prestigious girl’s bowling tournament in Illinois and features 44 of the best teams in the state. The hornets started strong in the morning with Jaultiana Brown bowling a 599 series. The Hornets found themselves in 16th place after the morning session and earned a place in the Silver Division for the first time in at least 10 years. The hornets were unable to bowl consistently in the afternoon and finished in 12th place in the Silver Division. Senior Jaultiana Brown with a 1081 series led the Hornets followed by Junior Abbey Leban with a 1076 and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn with a 1013 series.
Week of December 2nd On Monday, the Hornet Girls Bowling Team hosted non-conference foe Fenton High School. The Lady Hornets bowled three consistent games and defeated Fenton 2611-2356. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the varsity with a 561 series and Junior Abbey Leban followed with a 524 series. The JV team bowled better each game and defeated Fenton 2231-1647. Sophomore Dana Euske led the JV team with a 474 series and Freshmen Ashley Leban followed with a 395 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets record moved to 1-0 on the season. The JV Lady Hornets moved to 1-0 as well. .
On Wednesday, the Hornets hosted Sandburg High School. The Lady Hornets Bowlers started strong and were able to defeat the Eagles 2855-2516. Senior Jaultiana Brown led the varsity bowlers with a 564 series and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn bowled a strong 556 series. The JV team also earned the victory 2204-1649. Sophomore Dana Euske led the JV team with a 425 series. The Varsity Lady Hornets moved to 2-0 and the JV Lady Hornets moved to 2-0.
On Saturday, the Hornet Lady JV Bowlers completed in the Joliet Central JV Invite. This is a tournament featuring 12 teams from the south and west suburbs. The Hornets finished in 7th place on the day. They JV Hornet bowlers were led by Freshman Ashley Leban with a 814 series, Junior Stephani Ogbuehi with a 782 series, Sophomore Dana Euske with a 780 series and Junior Maiya Stephenson with a 764 series.
Week of November 25th On Saturday, November 30th, the Hornet Lady Bowlers competed in their first tournament of the 2019-2020 season. This was the 22 team Plainfield Central Wildcat Invite. This is an excellent tournament with some of the best teams in Illinois. The Hornets bowled consistently strong all day. The team finished in 10th place but showed top 5 potential. The Hornets were paced by Senior Jaultiana Brown with a 1052 and Junior Jennifer Cleghorn with a 1031 series. Jaultiana finished 31st individually and Jennifer placed 34th individually.
