Week of February 24th Congratulations to Will Gallagher for a 12th place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle and Tommy Matulis for finishing 7th in the 100 yard Breaststroke at the State Championship Meet on Saturday! Nice job on an excellent season gentlemen!
Week of February 17th On Saturday The Boys Sectional Swim Team consisting of: Andrew Henn, Will Brewster, Will Gallagher, Andrew Schmid, Dominick Morgan, Tommy Matulis, James Kurowski, Matt Krauz and Liam Mitchell finished an outstanding season with all personal best times. The team advanced Will Gallagher in the 200 Yard Freestyle and Tommy Matulis in both the 200 Yard I.M. and 100 Yard Breaststroke events to the IHSA State Swimming Meet next weekend at Evanston High School. Congratulations to all of the swimmers and good luck to our State Qualifiers next week!
Week of February 3rd On Friday evening, the Boy’s Swim Team competed at the West Suburban Gold Conference Championship Swim Meet. Hinsdale South swam an amazing meet capturing 8 first place finishes out of 12 events! The Medley Relay of Gallagher, Matulis, Krauz and Schmid broke the WSC record with a time of 1:40.92. All Varsity swimming earned All-Conference honors including Matt Krauz, James Kurowski, Tommy Matulis, Dominick Morgan, Andrew Schmid, Will Gallagher, Will Brewste, Andrew Henn and Liam Mitchell! Liam Mitchell became the 2nd Hornet to be All-Conference in both Swimming and Diving; amazing!! Men of the Meet were James Kurowski and Andrew Schmid. On the Sophomore level, the boy’s had a strong finish to their season with lifetime best times. Emiliano Wiberg earned ribbons in the 200 and 500 Freestyles. Patrick Jarosz, Emiliano Wiberg, Aamir Merchant, Ibrahim Jared and Austin Krucek all had big times drops setting them up with a solid base to build on for next year. Congratulations to all the swimmers on their hard work and strong determination! The boys will focus on the Sectional Swim Meet hosted at Lyons Township High School in two weeks, where they will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2020 Illinois State Championship meet on February 28 and 29.
Week of January 27th The Boy's Swim Team placed 6th on Saturday at an Invitational hosted by L.T. High School. Congratulations to an excellent season by finishing with personal best times goes to: Charlie Niles, Rino Dinardi and Angelo Villegas. Medalists from Hinsdale South includes: Will Gallagher in the 200 Free and 100 Yard Butterfly, Tommy Matulis in the 200 I.M. and 100 Yard Breaststroke, and Liam Mitchell in the Diving event. This Friday the boys will compete in the Conference Championship Meet hosted by Downers Grove South beginning at 5:00 P.M. Good luck gentlemen!
Week of January 20th Congratulations to the Boys Swim Team for their Sophomore and Varsity wins on Friday evening after a conference dual meet between Addison Trail/Willowbrook. Awesome swim by Matt Krauz with a personal best time in the 100 yard butterfly. After a long evening, the boys were up early on Saturday morning to compete in a 16 team Invitational at Lockport High School where they placed 8th! Top swims and medalists were performed by Matt Krauz, Tommy Matulis, Andrew Schmid and a first place gold medal in the 200 Freestyle by Will Gallagher. Next week we will compete on Saturday with an Invitational hosted in Lagrange by LTHS
Week of January 13th The Boys Swim Team were defeated on Friday night by Downers Drove South on both the Varsity and Sophomore levels. Despite winning 6 of the events, the team was overthrown by depth in numbers that a dual meet holds. Matt Krauz was named "Swimmer of the Meet" for his outstanding competitiveness in the 200 and 500 Freestyle events. The team will host Addison Trail/Willowbrook this Friday for it's last dual meet of the season beginning at 5:00 P.M. Good luck gentlemen and keep up the hard work!
Week of January 6th The Varsity Boy's Swim Team defeated Morton High School in a dual meet on Friday night. The team did an outstanding job by capturing first places in over 90% of the events. On Saturday, the Hornets hosted it's annual "College Events" swimming invitational. The boys were challenged with an array of longer events than a normal high school swim meet. The team stepped up with some awesome swims by Dominic Morgan, James Kurowski, and Andrew Henn. Individual medalists included Tommy Matulis, Will Gallagher, Matt Krauz and Andrew Schmid. On Friday January 17, Hinsdale South will be hosting Downers Grove South at 5:00 P.M.
Week of December 30th After a vacation filled with hard work, the Hornets swam at LincolnWay Central on Thursday at their annual Holiday Invite. Man of the Meet was Charlie Nilles for his lifetime best time and almost 9 second time drop in the 500 free, and his season best swim in the 200 free. Podium swims were turned in by Will Gallagher, Tommy Matulis and the 200 Free Relay team of Matt Krauz, Andrew Schmid, Gallagher and Matulis. Freshmen Andrew Henn and Will Brewster turned in some impressive swims at this Varsity Invite. The team finished 6th place overall. Next Friday the Hornets face Morton for their Senior night and 3rd conference swim meet of the season, followed by the annual college events meet Saturday.
Week of December 16th The Boys Swim Team defeated Proviso West on Friday evening. After a long week of finals and practices, the boys swam hard to bring home another conference win. First place finishers included: Will Brewster, Andrew Henn, Dominick Morgan, Alex Carillo, Rino DiNardi, Aamir Merchant and Simeon Ivanov. On Saturday, the team traveled to Bloomington where they placed 5th in a 19 team invitational! Top finishes included Will Gallagher in the 200 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Butterfly, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Tommy Matulis in the 200 yard IM, 200 free relay, 100 yard breaststroke and the 400 free relay. Matt Krauz in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Will Brewster in the 200 free relay and Andrew Henn in the 400 free relay. Awesome job men! The team will be back to work through the holidays as they prepare for Lincoln-Way Central on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
Week of December 9th On Friday night, the Boy's Swim Team traveled to Leyden High School with a Varsity win against the Eagles (65-29). The sophomore team was defeated by the score of 50-40. First place finishes on the Varsity level included: Tommy Matulis, James Kurowski, Matt Krauz, Will Brewster, Andrew Henn, Dominick Morgan and Frank Finnegan. The sophomore level is improving daily with first place finishes by: Kamil Gryzbicki, Simeon Ivanov, Emiliano Wiberg, Aamir Merchant, Ibrihim Jared and Patrick Jarosz. Special recognition goes out to newcomer Ivan Ling on two outstanding swims in the 100 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke. Congratulations gentlemen on your first conference win of the season! Our next meet will be at Proviso West High School on Friday night.
Week of December 2nd The boy's swim season is underway with some outstanding swims on Friday night at Deerfield High School. Bringing home first place metals in a 300 Medley IM Relay included Tommy Matulis, Will Gallagher and Matt Krauz. This years Relay Invite gives a positive tone for an upcoming season filled with exciting swims. We took a strong line up with us which included: Seniors Tommy Matulis, James Kurowski & Matt Krauz. Juniors Frank Finnegan, Dominick Morgan and Andrew Schmid. Returning Sophomore Will Gallagher, Matas Novickis, Amhere Merchant and two new promising additions Patrick Jarosz and Kamil Gryzbicki. We are very excited this year to welcome two new outstanding additions to our Varsity line-up witch includes Freshman Andrew Henn and Will Brewster. Our first dual conference meet will be this Friday at Leyden High School. We are anticipating showing up with two strong line-ups on both the Varsity and Sophomore levels.
