Week of April 30th Both the JV and Varsity Girls Water Polo teams competed in the conference playoffs last weekend. Both levels played hard but unfortunately the JV team lost to York High School on Friday evening and the Varsity team lost to OPRF on Saturday morning. This week begins the sectional playoffs. The Varsity team will compete on Tuesday evening at Lockport High School.
Week of April 23rd The Girls Water polo Team defeated Hoffman Estates on Wednesday evening. The girls played tough throughout all 4 periods of play. Excellent job by Katie Nigohosian for scoring two of our game winning goals! The girls tied on both levels Friday evening to Schaumberg High School. Thanks to all the spectators including the Hinsdale South Boys Water Polo Team for coming out and supporting our teams and making our Senior Night a memorable one as we recognized our Senior athletes. Next week is conference at Lyons Township High School. J.V. will play on Friday evening and Varsity will compete on Saturday (times TBA).
Week of April 16th The Girls Water Polo Team is coming off of a three consecutive game losing streak on both the J.V. and Varsity levels. The girls played hard and are demonstrating great improvement as they had three close games to York, Morton (J.V. lost in overtime) and Argo High schools. Top performances were had by all this week. As the season is nearing the end, the girls are gearing up for Conference and Sectional playoffs with a great attitude and hard work ethic.
Week of April 9th Girls Varsity Polo lost to Hinsdale Central, Maine East and Waubonsie Valley this week. The girls are continuing to play hard and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship both in the pool and on deck. The JV team lost to Hinsdale Central and Waubonsie Valley but defeated Maine East on Wednesday evening. The JV team has come a long way as they continue developing their physical skills as well as their game play IQ's. Amelia Brennan had an awesome performance in the goal as she blocked 6 shots from going in!
Week of March 19th & April 2nd Girls Water Polo has been struggling with a tough schedule with losses to St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Riverside Brookfield, Oak Park River Forest and Resurrection High Schools. Despite a flue virus going through most of the athletes, the girls have been playing hard. The team worked hard during Spring Break with lots of intense cardio training which paid off with both Varsity and Junior Varsity wins over Vernon Hills on Thursday evening. Both levels are healthy and with hard work and building higher levels of experience, we are looking forward to a strong finish and lots of individual athletic improvement throughout the team.
Week of March 12th
Girls Varsity Water Polo lost to Andrew, Richards and Lincoln Way West last week but finished third in a tournament at Morton High School on Saturday. Gillian Allen was voted player of the tournament on Saturday as she was the lead scorer for Hinsdale South in the tournament. The J.V. team defeated both Andrew and Richards but lost to Lincoln Way West on Thursday. The girls continue to work and play hard and demonstrate great improvement as the season moves forward.
Week of March 5th
Girls Water Polo began their season with a great turn-out of ambitious, dedicated athletes which is a positive improvement from last season as the team doubled in numbers. The girls, however, are currently 0-3 on both the J.V. and Varsity levels,with losses to Lyons Township, Metea valley and Stagg High Schools. The girls are working together to improve their season and getting stronger each day. The "Veteran" players are doing a great job mentoring the new players which bodes well for the future of Girls Water Polo.
