Freshman The Freshman Badminton team did a phenomenal job last week beating conference competitor, Willowbrook 10-5 and only losing 2 matches at the Wheaton Warrenville South quad. At the Glenbard North tournament, competition was neck and neck throughout the day. The team finished second behind York by only two points. Outstanding performances were had by all, but a special recognition goes to Tina Kessar for competing in her first tournament at #4 singles, pushing through a tough last match, and remaining undefeated for the day.
Week of March 19th
Varsity The badminton program in its first month of practice and competition is learning about growing into the team it can be. The girls are learning about the hard work and dedication it takes to be another conference, sectional and state champion. Simin Rajwany and Maggie Schmitz are beginning to hold down the first two singles positions and they are having to play some tough competition as the season progresses. Jenna Deolitsis and Jackie Wojcik are playing some good doubles and Rachel Ng is anchoring another singles spot for the program. The season really heats up the week of 4/2 with tough matches against Willowbrook, Downers North, Naperville Central and Neuqua Vallley. “I’m In”!
JV This week JV began the week with a strong 11-4 victory over Andrew High School and also earned our first conference win against Leyden defeating them 12-3. We wrapped up the week at the Metea Valley Invitational taking third place overall. That momentum carried over to the second tournament of the season at Carl Sandburg. Leading the team to victory with first place finishes were: Diana Temelkova (#1 Singles), Nola Colakovic and Andjela Kessar (#3 Doubles), and Samantha Heinking (#3 Singles).
