Varsity Saturday, February 2, Hinsdale South hosted the IHSA Wrestling Regional.
The Hornets had their strongest performance of the year. All 10 Wrestlers finished in the top 4. 8 of them advancing to Sectionals at DeLasalle High School next weekend. Among those 8 we had 2 Regional champions; Derrick Slingleton @ 113 Aidan McGivney @ 120. The team finished with a very strong 3rd place finish and are hoping to get as many wrestlers as possible a trip to Champaign.
Week of January 21st
Varsity
JV Against Hinsdale Central, Kailor Rogers won by injury default in the first period. Victor Sanchez won by pin and pinned his opponent in 29 seconds. Calvin Czapko also had a win and he won his match by a decision of 5-1.
Hinsdale South won the meet 40-6 vs. Tinley Park. Luke Casey, Calvin Czapko, Alex Gonzalez and Charlie Chartrand all had pins. Sal Narvilas had a dominating performance winning 11-0 along with Julian Miranda winning a close one 2-1.
At the Hornet Invite, Victor Sanchez and Calvin Czapko both got 2nd place in the tournament. Calvin had 3 wins and 1 loss for the day and Victor had 2 wins and 1 loss for the day. Kailor Rogers had 1 win and 2 losses for the day, Josh Ririe had 2 wins and 2 losses for the day, and Alex Gonzalez had 2 wins and 2 losses for the day.
Freshman Hinsdale South lost the meet 22-46 to Hinsdale Central on Wednesday, January 23rd. Luke Casey had a great dominating win 13-4 and Sal Narvilas dominated by pinning his opponent in the 2nd period.
Week of January 14th
Varsity Friday, 1/18, Hornet Wrestlers fell short against Addison Trail. Jeremiah Kinsey did get a very exciting over-time victory. Friday night, we also celebrated our Seniors and their Parents. Would like to Thank all of Parents for coming out and all of their support.
On Saturday the 19th the Hornets were scheduled to host a Tri with only Nazareth being able to make it due to weather. Unfortunately the Hornets did take a loss.
JV Wrestling against Addison Trail, we had four wrestlers win. Three of them won by pin and one won by decision. Alex Baile won by pin late in the 3rd period, Calvin Czapko won by pin late in the first period, and Abdullah Almahammedi won by pin in the first period. Alex Gonzalez won by an 8-5 decision.
Freshman We won the meet 36-24. Luke Casey did an amazing job getting a tech fall at the buzzer winning 17-2. James Whitlock pinning his opponent to get the extra team points along with Sal Narvilas and Mike Patno. Definitely was the most exciting dual we have seen so far this year with this squad!
Week of January 7th
Varsity On Friday, January 9th, the Hornets traveled to Proviso East for a conference duel meet. The Hornets prevailed with a 45-16 victory over the Pirates. They were lead by Seniors, Tyler Hill, Alex Diaz and Keenan Stewart and another exciting win by Jeremiah Kinsey.
Saturday the Hornets defeated DeLaSalle at home, 48-15. Again lead by senior Tyler Hill and with Jeremiah Kinsey @ 170 winning the match of the day with a pin.
Week of December 31st
Varsity On Saturday, January 5th, Varsity Wrestlers traveled to Glenbard West Invitational. The team placed 7th out of 11 schools, with Alex Diaz being top scorer of the day with a 2nd place finish. The Hornets will resume conference competition on Friday, January 11th against Proviso East.
Week of December 24th
Varsity This week the Hornets attended the Bremen Tournament held at Palatine High School. Two of our wrestlers placed in the top 5 and were awarded medals for their finishes. Jeremiah Kinsey, 170 pounds, won 2 out of 3 matches taking 3rd place in the Tournament. Keenan Stewart, 138 pounds, won 2 and lost 2 on the day taking 5th Place.
Freshman During the Hornet Invite on 12/29, we had two freshman place 1st and 1 freshman place 4th. Luke Casey placed 4th, having two wins and two losses for the day. Manny Wallace placed 1st having three wins for the day and Julian Miranda also got 1st with three wins for the day. Sal Narvillas had two wins and two losses throughout the day and James Whitlock had one win and two losses.
Week of December 17th
Varsity The week of 12/17 the Hornets had a Dual vs. Leyden High School. Even though we lost the dual, we won 4 out of 10 matches. Aiden McGivney won a 10-0 major decision in the 120 pound match. Keenan Stewart, 138 pounds, Jeremiah Kinsey, 170 pounds, and Alex Diaz, Heavyweight, all came out with first period pins. We finished the week off with finals and preparing for Winter Break.
JV
Freshman Thursday, December 20th vs. Lyden. I have never been more pleased with the freshman squad. We won 4 out of our 6 matches. The ones we even lost were battles. Luke Casey won 11-4 Sal Narvilas won 9-0 Tomi Adeeyo won 9-5 Julian Miranda won by pin Due to many forfeits we lost to leyden by a score of 15 - 45. Our goal each meet is to win head to head and we did that once again!
Week of December 10th
Varsity On Thursday, December 13, Hornets Wrestlers travel to DGS. Unfortunately, didn’t win but 4 out of 8 wrestlers were victorious. The team is down due to multiple injuries.
On Friday and Saturday we were at Central for the Rex Whitlach Invite. The Hornets had 2 wrestlers place. Alex Diaz coming in 6th & Jeremiah Kinsey coming in 8th.
JV Saturday, December 15th at Waubonsie Valley JV Quad
Overall the team did a great job, several freshman stepped up to fill the lineup. Although the scores did not show, the Hornets put up a great fight!

Week of December 3rd
Varsity On Friday, December 7th, Hornet Wrestlers defeated conference rivals, Willowbrook 39-32. They were lead by Derrick Singleton and Keenan Stewart who both remain undefeated for the season.
On Saturday, December 8th, the Wresters fell short to Andrew, Naperville North and Glenbard West.
JV The JV wrestled Willobrook on 12/7 and won 33-18. Josh Ririe won by pin in the second period while Kailor Rogers, Alex Gonzalez, and Victor Sanchez all won by pin in the first period. Calvin Czapko won by a minor decision of 6-4 and Jerriel Mingo won by forfeit at heavyweight.
Freshman On Friday, December 7th vs. Willowbrook Luke Casey pulls off a close match winning 6-5.
Week of November 26th
Varsity Varsity Hornets fell short in their first conference competition Friday Night, November 30th, against Morton.
They did come back strong on Saturday @ the Matozzi Invite placing 5th. Lead by Champion Derrick Singleton Runner-up Alex Diaz & Jeremiah Kinsey 3rd placer finisher Oscar Choi JV Friday, November 30th, JV wrestled Morton East. From the matches wrestled, Alex Baile was our first win with a pin in the first period. Calvin Czapko was our second win of the night with a minor decision, the match was tied after the first period but Calvin was able to score points later in the match and pull away with the pin. Alex Gonzalez was our third win of the night with a pin in the third period. Overall a good day of wrestling from JV.
Frosh/Soph Saturday, December 1st, there was a tournament at Hinsdale Central consisting of freshman and sophomore. Alex Baile had 1 win and 2 losses, wrestling tough competition all throughout the day. Alex Gonzalez ended the day to finish in 3rd place. He had 2 wins and 1 loss, losing to the 1st place finisher in his weight class in the semi-finals. Victor Sanchez received 2nd place after losing a tough match in the finals. Victor also had 2 wins and 1 loss. Overall a lot of great wrestling with 2 place winners.
Freshman Friday, November 30th vs. Morton - The Freshman won 3 of our 6 matches that took place. Luke Casey, Julian Miranda and Sally Narvilas got the wins.
Week of November 19th
Varsity On Wednesday, November 21st, the wrestlers opened their season in Lake Forest. Varsity went 1 & 2, beating Palatine and losing to Grayslake North and Lake Forest. They were lead by Alex Diaz with 3 pins and Aiden McGivney and Keenan Stewart, each going 3 & 0, for the day. The Hornet Wrestlers will open conference competition on Friday, November 30th @ Morton.
